A Notable MySims Development

As an aside to MySimtropolis, but related to the MySims Mode...

Cori has come up with yet another brilliantly ingenious idea, this time involving a complete language upgrade to the MySims speech and thought balloons. As you may recall, at the start of the year she wrote the MySims Dictionary. Now inspired using this as the base framework, she's going to code it for multiple structured levels of information rather than just the Boolean true/false (red/green icons) of the Maxis version. For instance, the Air Pollution is tracked on a scale of 0 to 1,024. Then by utilising LUA coded IF/THEN statements, this will allow a given MySim to display an appropriate message to better represent game data.

The concept being this is much more useful than a generic icon with only 2 possibilities, and thus to gauge a greater portrayal of how certain areas of a city have their simulation factors measured accurately. We also have plans for multiple levels of Crime, Education, Traffic Congestion, Health, Water Pollution, and Garbage, etc.

Here are a couple of samples we've created from the Low and High end for Air Pollution, which we're calling Air Quality.  (Cori does the coding and I do the images.)

As follows:

In the nice fresh air of a quiet, peaceful, picturesque, and healthy part of the countryside...

 

[To be added: 5 more levels of detail in between.]

Tentatively:

Sullied
Breathable
Smelly
Nasty
Pea Soupish

 

At the other end of the spectrum, to a not so nice place in the thick, dark and dismal industrial smog...

So, just a teaser taster for what will be another CoriBoom™ Production, likely following the release of MySimtropolis at a STEX near you soon.

I presume it wasn't a typo and you'd prefer your MySim name to be June8 as opposed to your ST username with 88 on the end? If you'd like it can be added on too, or it's fine to have it as just the 8. Completely your choice, and it's very easy to add should you wish.

The mod will likely arrive sometime within the next week. As the grand STEX release, it'll also include a few little bonus features we've been working on.
