  1. Hey there, Has anyone else had this problem where in the profile of My Sim mode all of them are indefinitely unemployed? The Sims don't disappear after awhile, so they're not truly unemployed or else you'd get the prompt that they are leaving your city for better prospects. It seems like this is a bug, but I'm not sure if this is a plugin causing this or what. Does anyone know any solutions to fix this problem?
  2. Hey, all. I'm having some trouble with SC4 that I really need help with, *BEFORE* Sunday the 6th. I need to figure out how to add my friend's and follower's Twitter characters to SimCity 4's My Sim mode using their profile pictures, which I've already modified for the game's needs. I picked up the MySimtropolis mod and I do have The Sims 1 if I need that for anything, but I can't figure out how to get their profile pictures to appear in the game. Is there a set of programs or steps I need to do this? Or am I screwed? I don't want to break my promise to my fans to include some of their characters in my weekly video series on SimCity 4, but it's too late to go back on my word now. I really need help!!
  3. I need some help with the "MySim" mod I am having quite a problem with it do I need any dependencies? Someone tell me what to do step by step because I put the files in the plugin folder and whats happening is that everytime I try to open MySim the game just crashes anybody got any ideas on what to do?
  4. Hi all! This is my first post in this forum, after having been a lurker for a long time. I recently downloaded a mega-pack of mods that worked as some sort of compilation of many things that are on this website. I put them all in my plugin folder at once, noticed I was not a fan of the Darknite mod, removed them and now I am putting them back in one by one in order to find which one is the darknite mod. While I am doing this I am still playing the game, of course, and noticed that the Sims that I put in my cities don't stay there anymore. I had no trouble before inserting the mods, but now for some reason as soon as I build schools, they leave. Maybe they get too intelligent to stay in a computer simulated city =P Anyways, I like my sims to stay in my town to tell me how they like each part of the town they live in. Is this a known bug? Can I somehow get rid of it? I am really sorry that I have no idea of which mods are in my plugin folder precisely, I have a picture here so you guys can see them. I hope you can help me!
  5. How i close the window <MySim Name>?? I can't move and dont close... How i fix??
  6. As many of you know CB and I have created the MySimtropolis: Members Immortalized in SC4 mod on the STEX. This has been an opt-in only project as described in the MySimtropolis - Invitation to become a SimCity 4 MySim thread. However, 4 peeps have inquired about including members who are no longer living or no longer active on our site. This is a delicate decision to make on behalf of the departed and we feel it's best to ask the community to weigh in on the proposal. We are doing this as a referendum poll with binding results in which we will only implement the idea if at least two-thirds (66.67%) are in favor (Yes votes). The poll is anonymous so no one can be singled out for their choice. However, we welcome discussion either for or opposed to the idea. The poll will be open for 30 days to allow ample time for members to vote. Should the majority vote in favor of immortalizing those members via our mod we'll need to know what name to give them in the game, their gender, and zodiac sign (because the file structure requires that info). For the name, we propose to use their ST name unless they were more commonly known by their real name. Gender is likely known. For the zodiac we can use their real one if known, but could base it on their join date if not. (It doesn't matter to the game what this data is, just that it must be present.) We (CB and I) personally believe those members who have simply moved away from Simtropolis (but who could return) should not be included without their consent. Opinions on this are also welcome. Should this first referendum pass we could then have a new one to address this secondary idea. For the current poll (if voting Yes) please list which members who've passed on to include: the name they should have in the game, gender, and zodiac sign. If that member has a generic avatar it would be nice if you have something we could use such as from another account on other game sites or from their social media. We need your input as we wouldn't want to miss anyone who should be included. If you believe this idea is in poor taste and should not be implemented, feel free to vote No and optionally state your concerns. In summary: All Simtropolis members are entitled to vote once either Yes or No in the above anonymous referendum poll. If voting Yes, please reply if aware of any deceased members who should be included, specifying their game Name, Gender, and Zodiac sign. If voting No, you may voluntary post your reasons. The result will only be binding in favor with a two-thirds majority. The poll will close on 22 February 23:59 EDT (30 days from opening). Even tho the poll is anonymous, CB and I are disclosing we will each cast our one vote in favor. -Cori & CB
  7. Technical aspects of MySimtropolis Immortalized Members. As some of you will be aware from our released mod on the STEX, in SC4's MySims Mode it's possible to add custom MySims to be available for selection and use in the game. Adding new ones involves a bit of hex editing and understanding of the data file structure. The following guide explains the technical details under the hood on how to achieve this yourself. (Perhaps you'd like to include real pics of friends and family for personal use in your own game only.) Background info from the Sign Up thread: Note: For this you need to use your favorite Hex Code Editor. I use the HxD Hex Editor. (The HxD pictured in this guide is the 1.7.7.0 version from 2009 and running on my stand alone XP comp.) Also Note: None of this is necessary if you download our mod. These details are provided for those who want to add their own MySims. The MySims.dat file structure is relatively simple. It goes like this: [4 Byte File Header] [Variable length data for MySim # 1] [Variable length data for MySim # 2] [Variable length data for MySim # 3] [Etc.] The first thing to do is create a MySims.dat file in your Documents folder under SimCity 4 in a folder called MySim. I do that by right clicking in the file area and selecting to create a new Text Document. It must be named MySims.dat exactly. It will complain how changing the extension from .txt will cause an apocalypse, but just ignore that. Excuse the other folder clutter in this pic from XP: Now open that file with your Hex Editor: On the Hex Code side, type in the file header of AA E4 32 4A. (I have no idea what this part means, but I'm sure it tells the game what type of file it is.) The next byte is the length of the in game MySim name which will follow in the next bytes. In my case I use Cori as my game name so that's a length of 4. Then I click over in the Text side and type my name. Jump back to the Hex side and the next 3 bytes are for: Code for Gender Code for Zodiac sign Length of the BMP file name which will follow Jump back to the text side and type the name of the BMP file name which is the image to use in the game. Note that the .bmp extension is assumed and not included: To add more MySims, repeat the above using the data for the next member: And to wrap it up, save the MySims.dat file and copy in the .bmp image files to the MySim folder: Be sure to read about the details of the BMP image file in the first spoiler at the beginning of this post. Providing you are using the MySimtropolis_Rulez.dat file included in the STEX download, it will look like this in the game: (If you chose not to use the MySimtropolis_Rulez.dat overhaul file, you'd see a page of default MySims and the new peeps would start on the second page of the selection panel.) Here's a full recap of the MySims.dat file structure: File Header (4 bytes) (Variable length data for MySim # 1) MySim name length value (1 byte) MySim name text string (variable # of bytes) Code for Gender (1 byte) Code for Zodiac sign (1 byte) MySim bitmap file name length value (1 byte) MySim bitmap file name (variable # of bytes) (Variable length data for MySim # 2) MySim name length value (1 byte) MySim name text string (variable # of bytes) Code for Gender (1 byte) Code for Zodiac sign (1 byte) MySim bitmap file name length value (1 byte) MySim bitmap file name (variable # of bytes) (Variable length data for MySim # 3) MySim name length value (1 byte) MySim name text string (variable # of bytes) Code for Gender (1 byte) Code for Zodiac sign (1 byte) MySim bitmap file name length value (1 byte) MySim bitmap file name (variable # of bytes) (Etc.) Also, @Cyclone Boom has created a super sexy spreadsheet thinger that automates the creation of the hex code which can then be copied and pasted into the HxD Hex Editor. His gizmo creates the complete code format as explained above and so the same technique applies with one block for each MySim. Full details on that in his post below.
  8. Now that we can bring our Simtropolis friends in our cities, how about sharing stories with them? What your friends are doing in your cities? Where they live and work? What kind of stories they will share to you, the mayor? Show us here your MySimtropolis Sims and their activities at your cities. To keep the positive spirit of our community , please don't abuse the topic for trolling, flaming or bashing other users. Just have some fun and bring your friends This is the Venus City, a city inspired of the circular cities of the Venus Project. The central tower has everything the Sims need. Schools, hospitals, police and fire stations, digital libraries, museums, and the central artificial intelligence that controls the city with much larger efficiency than any mayor. No politicians and elections here, only AIs and cybernetic direct democracy. And look! Some of my friends lives here Every admin of Simtropolis here lives in luxurious mansions. Some in cozy homes with gardens, others in warm and underground ones. @Dirktator is the only exception. He's the creator, so he deserves a luxurious room with nice view. And here are our jobs. Dirk is responsible for the smooth working of the central AI, @CorinaMarie is at the 4D Virtual TeleCinema, and I am working in the digital library. @Cyclone Boom is the manager of EveryWare CyberNet. As about @TekindusT, he's teleworking from the comfort of his home, controlling an industrial robot.

    CoriBoom™ Productions Proudly Presents... MySimtropolis: Simtropolis Members immortalized in SimCity 4! In our 1st official CoriBoom™ release to the STEX, @CorinaMarie and I have humbly created a mod collectively designed for everyone here at Simtropolis. I'm sure many of you will have heard of MySim Mode in SC4. The idea being to establish up to 5 Sims per city, giving them a place to interact and see how they feel and respond to their surroundings from speech balloons. However, it really only serves as a secondary aspect of the simulation, and doesn't directly influence gameplay mechanics. It's possible to select from a list of 21 predefined characters, or import those you've made yourself from The Sims game. This is all well and good. But in the grand scheme of things, it may seem a bit of a non-personable side show, and not so much everyone's idea of fun. But fear not, that's where MySimtropolis comes in, allowing community profiles to be immortalized and played as visible characters in the game. Find a house, take up a job, and watch your Sim live, work, and play. This could be inside a ritzy suburban estate, a glitzy skyscraper tower, somewhere hidden amid a town called Middle Of (near Nowhere), on an idyllic remote island, an amazing castle town, or even on another planet! It's completely up to you... Total of 223 Members Included (So Far) Following the Sign Up thread, we announced the successful breakthrough technical development of a hex editing method. This has allowed data to be imported in the MySim entry format recognised by the game, adding each to the selection panel. There's a seemingly unlimited number of places, and so we've asked members to volunteer and have their ST identity preserved in our mod. The profile for each MySimtropolis Sim consists of: Avatar Name Gender Zodiac As of this update (14 Dec 2025), the following members are included as part of this initiative: Installation IMPORTANT: The main files must not be installed inside Plugins, unlike regular SC4 content! Inside the zip file there is a readme document and 2 folders: MySim Copy entire contents to: C:\Users\UserName\Documents\SimCity 4\MySim This contains the avatars of each Sim as 36x41 BMP files, each featuring TPPT corner transparency. Most essentially it also contains a file named MySims.dat which is the 'brains' behind all the functionality being the hex data. If the "MySim" folder doesn't already exist, it needs creating at this location. Note: For the Aspyr/App Store Mac version, this MySim folder must be created at: /Users/UserName/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.simcity4.appstore/Data/Documents/SimCity 4/MySim Locale (Recommended) Copy included file to: C:\Users\UserName\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins This is an optional file named MySimtropolis_Rulez.dat which serves as an overhaul to the MySim Mode. (See details below for more info.) Note: For the Aspyr/App Store Mac version, the Plugins folder is located at: /Users/UserName/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.simcity4.appstore/Data/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins Thanks to @c4bl3fl4m3 for clarifying the Mac details! The Selection Panel Here is where all the MySims can be viewed. There are 3 rows of 7 per page, and they're all listed in sequence as per the order of immortalization for those who've signed up. As follows: The pages can be navigated by clicking each number, and over on the left side there are filter options to sort alphabetically, by gender, or zodiac sign. Please Note: Although we've made every effort to ensure data entry is correct, we are human and it's possible there are mistakes. Should you notice anything in error or wish to request an avatar amendment, feel free to post in the main thread, the comments below, or send us a PM to let us know. Thanks! MySimtropolis Rulez (Recommended) This is an added bonus which transforms the display of the MySims Mode. The most notable feature is by removing all default Sims from the selection panel. It also renames titles and labels in the menus. It's not required for the MySims to be displayed in the game, but for added authenticity it's something we recommend using too. In Summary: Prevents the default MySims from displaying for selection. Renames "My Sim Mode" to "MySimtropolis Mode". Renames "Select A My Sim" to "Select MySimtropolis Member". Renames "My Sims" to "Resident <CityName> MySimtropolis Sims". Plus over 20 other locale edits in-keeping with the MySimtropolis idea. Note: As an alternative to the main Rulez file, there's also a "Less Rulez" edition available here. Use this version instead if you wish to preserve the 21 built-in Sims as well. You can join too! You may have just become aware of this mod, and at this point might be wondering if you can also be immortalized as a MySim. The good news is it's not too late, nor is there a deadline to join yourself. The idea is anyone can post and be included in the next available slot just like everyone else. Sign up in this thread: You can be next... We'll then release periodic updates to this file entry here on the STEX, including those newly immortalized who are equally welcome to be part of this as well. We plan to do this in batches, aiming for around a weekly basis (time dependent of course on our other current commitments). Want to share your MySimtropolis pics? Post in the dedicated Show Us Your MySimtropolis Sims topic. Interested in the technical details as a quick and efficient means of adding your own MySims? View this thread: MySims.dat - The Techy, Hexy Details As a little bonus... Additionally, everyone who signs up to be included receives a special commemorative profile badge. As follows: Future Idea In due course as hinted about here, we've got an additional mod planned, expanding on the usefulness of MySims to measure simulation factors with greater accuracy. Stay tuned! Special Thanks From what started as something prospectively small, the response to our idea has been overwhelmingly positive and kind. Cori and I both agree this reception and feedback already fully exceeded our expectations. We're truly grateful for everyone who has decided to get involved, and anyone who still wishes to do so. Thanks to each and every one of you. MySimtropolis quite simply wouldn't have been possible otherwise, and this release is our gift to you all. // CoriBoom™ Productions Release \\ MySimtropolis v1.223 — (14 Dec 2025) .myst-format { background: #235F92 !important; color: gold !important; padding: 0px 10px 0px 10px !important; text-shadow: 1px 1px 0px #333333; box-shadow: 1px 1px 0px 0px gold; margin-top: 5px; }
  10. Introducing a SC4 mod: MySimtropolis @Cyclone Boom and I have decoded the file structure of the MySims.dat file such that we can now create it from scratch with a hex editor. This is used to add additional MySims to the selection window. We have now released the mod which features members of Simtropolis as selectable MySims. (This is an opt-in only creation.) Note: Any member who has an established, non-changing avatar on ST can still post here to request inclusion in our mod. Here's a pic of those who initially agreed (via PM) to be immortalized in the game: ^ Image created by @Cyclone Boom The initial MySims are coded in the game so new, additional ones are available on page two and after. Until a full second page fills up, clicking the number 2 on the selection window scootches the Sims to the left with the newest ones showing on the lower right. Here's how those look so far: Update: After we discovered a way to prevent the 21 default MySims being listed, it now looks like this with the optional "Rulez" installed: In addition to the name, the only two variables which can be set are gender and zodiac sign as follows: Gender: 0x00 = Female 0x01 = Male Zodiac sign: 0x00 = Capricorn 0x01 = Aquarius 0x02 = Pisces 0x03 = Aries 0x04 = Taurus 0x05 = Gemini 0x06 = Cancer 0x07 = Leo 0x08 = Virgo 0x09 = Libra 0x0A = Scorpio 0x0B = Sagittarius Should you agree to be included we will create the 36x41 pixel game image from your avatar. (Or you can supply one for us in 24 bit BMP format which we might tweak for positioning and size to fit within the circle.) To become a MySim, please submit the following: Name (As it'll be in the game. Screen name from ST or a derivative like I do.) Gender (Male/Female) Zodiac Sign (See list above.) Disclaimer: Due to the nature of the file structure you cannot be removed after opting in. Here's hoping you'll agree to be added as a Simtropolis MySim. Sign up in a post below. As a bonus, everyone who does will receive a special badge on their profile. Like so: Just a note to clarify for everyone... In reply to everyone who opts-in, prior to release we'll post images of the MySim Selection Panel and also your Sim moved into a home. These preview pics posted are simply to show what each of you look like in the game using vanilla Maxis residentials. The main idea being to ensure you're happy with the avatar as shown, since some require very slight cropping, stretching, or editing to ensure they're displayed properly in view. Once we release the mod on the STEX, you're welcome to place yourselves in whatever architectural style you prefer, wherever you'd like. This could be in a posh suburban estate, a skyscraper tower, somewhere in the middle of nowhere, on an idyllic remote island, or even on another planet! The choice is completely yours and we'd love to see your own MySimtropolis pics. In fact, coinciding with the unveiling of the mod (which won't be too long away), the plan is we'll open a dedicated " Show Us Your MySimtropolis Sims " topic focussed around sharing scenes. Even if you've never or don't usually play with the MySim Mode, this aims to give the community a way to see one other in SC4. With a bit of imagination, perhaps it could even inspire storylines and a few City Journal type posts, or even actual running CJs following the life of your Sim. We think there's plenty of potential. Additional info in spoiler box: Just published (20 January, 2019): MySims.dat - The Techy, Hexy Details ^ This guide is only for those who might want to add MySims for their own personal use in the game.

The first file contains the originals as extracted from Simcity_1.dat and have the Pink (#FF00FF) background used as a transparency layer. The second file has all the images as I've posted them in this thread. And the third file is all of the images as a single .dat file which could be tweaked for in game use. 12. Hey I am currently looking to import new Sim Faces in the Move a Sim in feature in SC4. I'm using them for an RP story of my city I'm working on and one page of default Sim Faces is not enough characters for my city. I tried the link in this long inactive old relevant post in search of a solution but the link is now inactive/broken. Is there as updated link?
