Providing your My Documents is also where SC4 has its user folder, this will be the correct one to use.

The key is so the game is able to find the MySims and the custom .dat file. Also included inside this "SimCity 4" user area folder should be your Plugins and Regions. As you found, the "MySim" folder won't be there by default, so this is a necessary step allowing it to be recognised.

I've just moved the file to the correct place, and have promptly moved myself into the nicest house in the city.

As you may know, thanks to the hard work of Cathy and others, I have now got SC4 working in Linux, however the first thing I tried to add was the MySimtropolis members, but I'm getting the same problem that I had before, I have installed them in the folder I think that they should be in.

Any ideas of where I'm going wrong.?

I see you have a My Sims folder under SimCity 4. Two things I notice is there is a space in the name and a trailing letter s. Try renaming that to MySim.

Tried that and it still crashed

At a second attempt I have got it working, having an empty folder doesn't help....

Ok. Do you have all the loose files in the MySim folder? Like 101 .bmp files plus the MySim.dat file? Or did you put the MySim folder from the zip into the MySim folder on your comp? (It needs to be all the loose files in there.)

Just copy the contents of the MySim folder in the zip into that MySim folder and agree to let it overwrite files.

While we no longer do the previews for individual immortalized members (as done over the first few pages of this thread), once released you're very welcome to add yourself into any property in the game. It could be a run-down shack or a posh mansion, or whatever (and wherever). Then if you wish to post pictures of this and the ways you've used MySimtropolis, there's the following Showcase topic where a few members have shown what they've done:

It'd be great to see a few more posting in there.
