  1. DIY Brutalist Style Skyscrapers

    Version 1.0.0

    2,031 Downloads

DIY Skyscraper Brutalist Style, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- This download contains 3 modular BAT pieces to allow the end user to build their own functional skyscraper in the lot editor. While there are plenty of modular sets for all sorts of things, to my knowledge, a modular, diagonal, functional skyscraper is a unique offering in the SC4 world. The model is fictional, but representative of the ubiquitous Brutalist Style of skyscraper that dominated the world from the 1950's until about 1980. These sorts of buildings generally did not exceed 30 floors, but some are around 40 to 50 floors. This is the second of a few such DIY Skyscrapers. This BAT can be assembled so as to make any sized building (in 5 and 10 story increments) of between 5 or 10 floors and, in theory, as many floors as you want. There are three pieces rendered out as props that you line up and combine and raise in either the PIM-x or lot editor (CTRL+up arrow key) to build your own skyscraper: *Mattb325_DIY_BrutalistBase (the Lobby and first five floors) *Mattb325_DIY_BrutalistMid (the middle ten floors which you repeat as often as you need) *Mattb325_DIY_BrutalistTop (the upper five floors and roof junk area) To start you off, I have made two fully functional, ploppable lots with jobs in the following sizes: 30 and 40 floors. One lot is designed to be placed along a diagonal road and the other looks good on a corner. The ploppable lots are found in the landmark menu and provide CS$$ jobs (I've used CS$$ as there is always infinite demand in game, and CO demand often ends up negative by using ploppable skyscraper lots). They therefore require road access - the busier the better, water and power. --------------------------------------- Please note that as these are vertical modular pieces, you will see little seams/apparent misalignment/repeated textures at certain zooms. I've corrected it all as much as is possible: it's not super visible unless you go looking for it, but beyond the corrections I've made there's not really anything I can do about how the game stitches FSH files together for its own display purposes. And certainly, for non batters, the benefit of finally being able to make your own skyscrapers should outweigh any small visual seams at the higher zooms. --------------------------------------- As this is released as a DIY set, by all means make and share your own versions of skyscrapers - you don't need to ask my permission - but ensure that you point to this file as a dependency for your creation. And, if you are using the functional lot versions that I have provided, please ensure that you use the 'save as' option when making your own lot, particularly if you intend to upload your work to the exchange. --------------------------------------- STATS: 30 and 40 Floor Skyscrapers Lot size: 1x3 and 4x4 Plop Cost: $11,136 Bulldoze Cost: $649 Pollution at Centre: 35 (air) /13 (water) /33 (garbage) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Capacity Satisfied: CS$ 3,500, CS$$ 897 Power Consumed: 65 Mwh Water Consumed: 35 Gallons Occupant Groups: Landmark; CS$$. --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users and one for the standard Maxis nite. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. 2. SAM 11 sidewalk

Hi. I really like using SAM 11 in my industrial areas. I've made most of the base textures of my industriak lots match the baked in sidewalk texture of SAM 11. Now I really would like to mix in some commercial service lots in the industrial areas. Fast food, car dealers etc. etc. But when I zone for them I get my usual sandstone sidewalk next to the zone. And that is really annoying and disturbing. What do I need to do to make SAM 11 use the concrete texture on all or more zones than the original industrial?
  3. Concrete Sidewalk Mod

    Version 1

    402 Downloads

Short Description: This sidewalk mod replaces the white pavement on all traffic routes and all wealth levels by a concrete texture made by Maxis themselves. I made this mod because the omnipresence of this white pavement always bothered me; in most urban areas I know, the sidewalk is made from asphalt. I couldn’t find any asphalt texture I liked, but the default Maxis concrete texture was good enough for me, especially because of its small cracks. This plugin can also be customized to replace the white pavement on some of Maxis’ base and overlay textures in the LE (and thus also on many lots by Maxis and custom content of other users), as well as on the PedMall tiles of the NAM. Please read the installation instructions below. Available languages: This mod doesn't use language-sensitive content; the Readmes, however, are in English and German. Dependencies: Network Addon Mod (NAM): required if you want to use the PedMall override. Installation: Move or copy all files (except the Readme) in your Plugins folder of your edition of SimCity 4. To uninstall, just remove all of its files. All changes are being reflected immediately in-game, there’s no need to demolish and rebuild any traffic routes or lots. The installation can be customized by only installing one or a few of the files of this plugin: Sidewalks.dat: replaces the white pavement on most networks. This doesn’t affect Ground Light Rail, as well as some special cases, such as at-grade crossings with railway. PedMalls.dat: replaces the white pavement on the first texture variation of the PedMall tiles of the NAM. This file requires installation of the NAM. LotEditorBaseTextures.dat, LotEditorOverlayTextures.dat: replace some of the default Maxis base and overlay textures. This change affects some lots by Maxis and a good amount of custom content available in the Internet. Compatibility: This plugin is only compatible with SimCity 4: Rush Hour or SimCity Deluxe, if you need to install the NAM. Otherwise, it should be compatible with any version of SimCity 4 (if not, please tell me). Important note: This sidewalk mod is not compatible with any other sidewalk mod, as well as with other mods overriding the textures I’ve overridden, such as the first texture variation of the PedMall tiles. It should, however, be compatible with rsc204’s No Grass Mod. Support: Please feel free to post questions, suggestions, and bug reports in this thread:

Geisel Suess Library, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- This futuristic brutalist building that looks part space-invader, part minecraft creation, is the main library building of the University of California San Diego. Made as a request for a fellow SC4 player, this library which is best viewed from below (an impossibility in SC4) still works reasonably well in the SC4 viewing angle, although many of the ground floor details are obscured by the large overhanging cantilevered upper floors. This probably isn't a building you would want to be sitting in when either the San Andreas or Rose Canyon faults decide to rupture. In the university setting, this building is perched between two small wooded hills and overlooks a ravine. It was constructed between 1968-1970 and the design draws inspiration from hands holding piles of books aloft. It also houses much of Dr Seuss's 72 years worth of work from the period 1919 until 1991. In game this is a large library and is on a 5x5 lot. It is found in the education menu and provides 235 highly desirable civic jobs, holds 680,000 books and provides an EQ boost to all age groups of your population over a large radius. --------------------------------------- STATS LIBRARY: Lot size : 5x5 Plop Cost: § 3,550 Bulldoze Cost: § 5,870 Demand Created: Jobs§ 73, Jobs§§ 160, Jobs§§§ 2 Pollution: 6 (Air)/ 4 (Water)/ 3 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 2/3/0 Capacity: 680,000 Coverage Radius: 6,480 Monthly cost: § 800 Power Consumed:11 Mwh Water Consumed: 42 Gal/Month Occupant Group: Building: Civic; Building: Library; BSC; BSC-Mattb325 --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: There are two model files in this download. 6. NAB Hobart

    Version 1.0.0

    3,241 Downloads

NAB Hobart, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- A request from a fellow SC4 player, NAB Hobart is a slim-line 14 floor mid-rise (or high-rise depending on your point of view) mid-twentieth century building from downtown Hobart, Australia. So typical of the mid-century design, the main tower part of the building sits atop a wider podium level with exposed columns at both transition areas to lend a 'lightness' of contruction quality to the design. Another piece in the playbook of modernist style is the wall sculpture that adorns the main entrance. Vertical concrete and metal fins help visually lengthen the building. I have taken some liberties with the building. Most notably, in real life the large blank wall area of the tower actually faces the street and the windowed wall faces other builidngs. I found that highly peculiar, so swapped that odd detail around to make this a much more traditional W2W building. It is offered as a growable only CS§§§ 2x1 and CO§§§ 1x2 covering both corner lots. --------------------------------------- STATS CS§§§: Lot size : 2x1 Growth Stage: 6 (Medium & High Density Zoning) Bulldoze Cost: § 808 Capacity Satisfied: CS§ 479, CS§§ 122, CS§§§ 51 Pollution: 3 (Air)/ 2 (Water)/ 4 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Power Consumed: 14 Mwh Water Consumed: 125 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago, New York, Houston, Euro Occupant Group: High Wealth CS STATS CO§§§: Lot size : 1x2 Growth Stage: 6 (Medium & High Density Zoning) Bulldoze Cost: § 808 Capacity Satisfied:CO§§ 262, CO§§§ 184 Pollution: 1 (Air)/ 1 (Water)/ 4 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Power Consumed: 8 Mwh Water Consumed: 93 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago, New York, Houston, Euro Occupant Group: High Wealth CO --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: There are two model files in this download. 8. Entry 58 -- Madison Plains (South)

Replies: Vigilante: Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately I was pushed for space and I needed as many fractionally angled buildings as possible to create that line leading up to Times Square. Scribosilyn: Recreating New York got me inspired, this included using seawalls and of course using the very best BATs, including Kellydale2003's creations. 9. First off thanks to Mattb325, Jasoncw and the NYBT crew for the great buildings/mods. It makes the SimCity 4 experience much more enjoyable! Everything was going great until dark blue grids started appearing in some industrial lots and roads became grass and concrete next to those buildings... I have DN, NYBT essentials, various buildings associated with NYBT , mipro, SimFox day n night , ... at first this would only happen with some lots (large modern hospital , century link tower etc.) so I either didn’t use them or hid the glitch with other buildings... but after I downloaded 31-33 madison , Barton Paul and e. 59th the glitch appeared ... i realized I may have been missing some of the manhattenville project packs so I downloaded all three (possibly duplicating one of them even though I chose to “replace the files).. in an attempt to fix it I deleted the recently downloaded files ... I believe I also had and industrial w2w but I. Can’t find which one it is so I must have deleted it.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I began playing this summer after not having played the game since ‘05! If needed o can upload pics of my plugin in folder as well as several visuals of the graphic glitch.. in addition to the glitch appearing with industrial buildings it seems to also appear with 112 Mott st.

The Urban Pavillon is a fictional pavillon and cantina for your sims to relax, have lunch or drink coffee. I played around with the golden ratio while constructing it. The .zip file contains a landmark lot with no jobs and a ploppable lot with Co$$ 18 jobs in your landmarks menu. Unfortunately there is no night lighting like all my other uploads If you are missing any dependencies just notify me. Enjoy!
  11. I find the problem that my street, avenue and road have changed after I put some Mod. The floor is concrete. I want to give it back but I don’t know what mod makes it change. Who know? Tell me please. Thanks you.
  12. Sorry for the topic spam, I'm new here (just started playing 2 months ago). You guys know the workshop very well so I it can't hurt to ask, do you know of any small concrete blocks? I've searched and I can't find anything. I'm trying to do the blocks seen in this pic:

Description: This mod Extends the super light asphalt mod by bringing some nicer textures to your low, medium & high-wealth zones. Of course you can also use any other sidewalk mod that provides good coverage for static network pieces that are wealth-independent. Dependencies: NONE Can be combined with: - base mod by Magneto https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/28804-super-light-asphalt-mod/ - addons by MGB: https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/29789-mgb-super-light-asphalt-addons/ Installation: Make sure this mod loads after the used sidewalk mod and other texture-changing mods such as TGN by MGB (this mod should have at least 1 more underscore '_' in it's folder name). If for example you use the superlight asphalt mod and have named its folder like so : z_superlightasphaltmod, make sure you give this mod-folder a name starting with z__ (2 instead of 1 underscore). To slightly increase performance, remove the images. Optional: The included files found in the folder 'OPTIONAL_TULEPs_overrides' are optional and do some changes to the 'orto avenue x orto avenue' automatic tuleps (based on MAS71's work; https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2897.msg146604#msg146604), the ploppable 'road tulep Type A1 + Intersection' piece, and the 'road tulep-Type A-Dashed' piece (see pictures). For optimal visuals drag out the avenue at least 3 tiles from the intersection without intersecting any other networks. Credits & outro: Based on the superlight asphalt mod by magneto and paengs sandstone mod for identifying texture-ID's of interest. Avenue Tuleps inspired by MAS71's mod. All textures except medium and high wealth sidewalk are based on the work of the above mentioned people. Feel free to improve and redistribute for non-comercial purposes ;-)
  15. First of all, I'm aware of the area fillers collection, but I personally find the assets a bit awkward to use - especially since I use right click to rotate camera (so I can't free rotate ploppables). They also take up a lot of slots in the asset menus. What I'm looking for is something that works similar to the sand paint tool included in the Terraform tool and BloodyPenguin's Resource addon - but with concrete, ruined and/or other textures. Is this possible at all - do those textures exist in a way that lets them be painted in? I'm particularly interested in using these as ground fillers around train tracks (could also help visually distinguish local/regional/cargo/passenger tracks), but also as fillers in industrial/urban areas. --------- Edit: There is now a mod for this, yay! BloodyPenguin released this: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=689937287 Edit again: He actually posted it on ST too:

  17. Hong Kong Sidewalk Mod

First, First I want to thank @ rsc204 (MGB ) for its " Maxis Texture Replacement Development Kit". I recently learning to use all the tools I need to create my own SC4 mods.. I think I'm happy with the result of my sidewalk mod, I only need to add the "base texture replacement" . Sorry for so many Maxis buildings, I saw the need to empty most of my plugins to speed SC4 load on my PC. Note : Textures made by me .

The long awaited parkings with overhang are finally arrived! Thanks to the RKT0 model technology, creating those handy structures is now within reach of unskilled batters like me Those parkings will tremendously help you dealing with those nasty diagonals in your quest of grid busting. UPDATE 1.01 The lots were initially supposed to generate a 5 $ monthly income, not a expense. This has been adressed. Also new textures have been added for further customisation. What's in the package? - 4 lots with 2 distinct shapes and their mirrored counterparts - 6 different textures design, to blend seamlessly with your favourite sidewalk mod (choose one, delete the other) - 4 offset car models in HD, an original creation from Girafe. ATTENTION: If you have downloaded this file AND my Nelson Tower file before 2014, you may have noticed a glitch in which the wrong building shows up on the lot. This was caused due to a shared building ID between the two buildings and can be remedied by downloading the new Nelson Tower here. 100 Washington Square is a 332-foot (101m) tower in Downtown Minneapolis, MN. It was designed by Minoru Yamasaki (of WTC fame) and completed in 1981. This SC4 version sits on a 2x4 lot and has 3410 CO$$ jobs. Both growable and ploppable lots are included. Night scenes come in both Maxisnite and Darknite varieties. The Darknite scene requires Simfox's mod available here. Download and install only one of the two varieties at a time. The CAM lots included in this upload require the Colossus Addon Mod. Enjoy! UPDATE 7-2-19: Added an additional non-CAM growable lot. Thanks to @Tyberius06 for pointing this out!

Exactly one year after my first upload, I present to you something new. Keillor Hall is an ugly little 2x4 remnant of the 60s that I have modded in three different ways: a CO$$ growable, a CO$$ ploppable, and a college. The building and its shorter counterpart are both named for famous Minnesotans, in this case Garrison Keillor.

Hello everyone, Over time I have received several requests to release some of the lots I created for use in my City Journal. I have been hesitant to do this because I did not have the time to mod the lots so that they are appropriate for release. Now that I have some time, I have decided to release some of the lots I use. These two lots are intended as parks for an urban area or a Japanese-style city. I originally created these lots for the city of Tokukai. Future releases will depend on how much of the files I used for Insulo can be recovered from my old computer. Note: These lots may look better with a grey concrete sidewalk mod, but that is not required. If you downloaded this file before 3:40 EDT November 20th there is a new version that corrects the menu icon glitch. Simply delete the files from your plugins and replace them with the new ones. I apologize for the inconvenience. The updated package also includes a readme file. Please report any errors you find in the comments section and I will try to address them. However, I am not responsible for any harm resulting from the use of this file. Because it was originally created as a personal lot I made no attempt to minimize the number of dependencies, and will not be reducing them. I think all of the dependencies I've chosen are good to have and several are very widely used. My legendary retaining wall BATs are back! Completely remodelled and retextured, the CURB series takes a new lease on life with concrete/grey asphalt plaza textures similar to those found on many BATs and official Maxis content. Furthermore, the models have been completely rebuilt, now with sidewalk-width walk areas around the new street-level gardens above the retaining walls. For those new to this BAT series, this set includes basic components required to build your sunken highway with CURB. One of these pieces is an underbridge lot (left and right halves are two BATs), with the other being a 15m slope, slope-conforming component that is plopped in the middle of two FARRHW ramps in a fashion similar to below: Just be sure to make sure the top RHW-4 level is constantly 15m high, and plop the pieces where they fit. You'll notice it's pretty self explanatory. As a dependency, you'll want to download http://tinyurl.com/CURBdependency If problems persist, contact me, or watch this promotional video to see what your end result should be like: I hope you enjoy the product! Lot's of work and many a weekend went into this.
