  1. Another Update on Pololomia

Replies: First of all I just want to say thank you to SC4L0ver, frdrcklim, nycsc4, Prophet42, kelistmac, T Wrecks, airman15 and Whte_rbt for their comments. I replied to most of them and I want to say thanks to T Wrecks for exploring my method of plopping residential some more. Entry 5: Another Update on Pololomia Here are twelve more pictures of Pololomia, I've considerably expanded the city and now I'm working on the border between the city and the countryside. 1. And here is Pololomia so far. Right now I am filling in the parts of the city centre which aren't complete, then I'm going to work some more on the industrial area to the left and then create some rural areas along the left side of this picture. 2. More grid-busting. 3. Suburban area close to the countryside. 4. The secret with suburbs is offsetting some sides of the suburban block with a tile or two (or more) of fillers. It's very easy to zone everything to the main road or street, but having a main road with only one (or no) side of residential can look more realistic. 5. Now we go to the city centre. 6. Loving Mattb325's new buildings- to the left is his urban school and in the centre is his First Federal Bank building. 7. In the centre of the picture is this school. 8. Using fillers I expanded the size of the school grounds and made it far more distinctive: a perimeter fence, car park, greenhouses, etc... 9. Squeezing out every last drop from FrankU's Dutch Parks! 10. The criss-crossing railways divide up the city. 11. I have changed parts of the industrial area to the northwest. Gone is the garbage dump and in its place rail sidings and a grain processing factory! 12. Making the most of Simmer2's rail sidings. The next update will probably be more rural as I move into MMP work and more organic, grid-busting sights. So stay tuned for that next weekend!
  2. Here's a few teaser images of a new industrial district in progress
  3. An Introduction to The URS

Welcome to The URS! What is The URS? Well... 1. The URS stands for Urban/Rural/Scenic. 2. This CJ will cover all sorts. 3. Lush, green suburbs... 4. With rich details and some nice patterns. 5. Commercial areas and civic complexes... 6. With some realistic spacing and division of areas. 7. Diagonals are covered too! 8. And I throw in all kinds of fillers to make areas look interesting. 9. And what about the urban, W2W and inner city areas? 10. No problem! 11. But we are forgetting industry! 12. And of course the MMPs! 13. Rougher, low-wealth and rundown areas are also covered in The URS. 14. Old content meets new content. You will see old plugins effortlessly fit in with new content, new mods and new fillers. 15. And of course every area and every city will have its own feeling to it. So that's The URS in a nutshell. This month and the next I am working on a city tile. After that I'll be specialising in a particular area: farms, industry, forestry, suburbs, seaports, power plants, etc... There will be weekly updates. So... See you around and I hope you have enjoyed these pictures.
  4. SM2 Metal Coatings Inc.

    Version 1.0.0

SM2 Metal Coatings Inc. is an old fictional semi-abandoned factory undergoing a much needed clean up. Lot size 6X4 Lot type: IM Provides 20$$ jobs Requires power and water. It will connect to STR and Street network visually only for that seamless look. You will find it in the Landmark menu. Dependencies SM2 Prop Pack Vol2 - http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3434 SM2 Prop Pack Vol3 - http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3499 Girafe Common spruces - http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2945 Girafe Beeches - http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2995 Have fun. 5. Welcome to the development thread for CT14 lots and BAT. Here's a quick list of current releases so you don't have to scroll through the thread to find them all: North American Freight Sidings Llama Terminal Company SABER LA River Troy Gasholder Building FAB Diagonal Industrials Lowrider Props In-N-Out Lowrider Show Old Time Power Plants - jestarr Boilerhouses --- North American Freight Sidings original first post: Inspired by the lack of existing lots representing protypical North American freight railroad sidings, I've created a system of lots that can be used to create eye-candy rail sidings. They are transit-enabled for appearance. I have been encouraged to share my progress in a dedicated thread by helpful feedback in the Show Us Your Railroads general thread, especially from SimCoug, T-Wrecks, raynev1. And the whole thing wouldn't exist without the Jestarr props. Features: 18 ploppable lots for different railcar types on double track rail Transit enabled connections to make the lots fit in seamlessly anywhere Three prop families to provide a variety from Jestarr's boxcars, intermodal and general merchandise freight ("Junkers") RRW compatibility Known issues: Transparent texture bug as described here http://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/42425-transparent-texture-issue/ The lots need custom icons created and added, through Reader as described here: http://www.wiki.sc4devotion.com/index.php?title=Tutorial:Inserting_a_custom_menu_icon_with_the_Ilive_Reader Future development ideas: Single Track Rail lots don't match exactly when using textures extracted from the RAM .dat, and I probably need permission to use them separately in any case. So, STR sidings may be a separate release at some point. Four-track lots would be prototypical for large yard trackage, but don't exist in RRW. Custom textures might allow some eye-candy four-track lots in future, this would resemble an updated subset of NCD. Dependencies: BSCMegaProps JES Vol01 (v1.0) - http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=342 For RRW, you need the NAM with RRW enabled. Download: Please report bugs here. Thanks!

  7. Hi! I showcased this picture about my current region a few days ago. Here is an overview about NoirCity's three already developed/WIP districts - on the left handside is North Harbour, the right upper city tile is Suburbiana, the lower district is CounterPoint. I'm planing a massive agricultural area for next, above North Harbour and above Suburbiana and I need some help. I have a lot of I-R/I-AG stuff: SPAM, BSC agri stuff etc, but I don't know which one is compatible with others or not, I don't have any experience with agri stuff and I don't want to use the Maxis "gems". I would like to use functianal items in a big variety, canals/streams (but not the fency ones - I think there is a few ditch canal types out there, and SPAM has its own as well), and MMP as well (but first the functional items). So I need some advice how to build up my agricultural plugin folder. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance! - Tyberius
  8. Industrial - intro

Mayor: Wournos IV Residents: >2500 Commercial: >3700 Industry: >4600 Funds: >28800 City area: Small Overview (North points right) Industrial was founded to supply Residential Evil with work and to keep pollution away from housing. Initially it had one long strip of dirty industry with two avenues going alongside the sector. As pollution rose complaints were made. Trees were planted, parks were constructed and even demolishing of factories to make room for trees happened. The pollution remained. Traffic congestion increased. Mayor Wournos II made a radical choice - demolish everything and rebuild. A plain highway with cloverleaf intersections were built, separating the city into four smaller areas. A rail connection to Residential Evil was made. But that was it. No one knew how to connect the rest of Industrial to this main line. The mayor hired rail builders with basic education from NAM University and let them create viaducts over the existing high-way. Funds plummeted to as low as §2000. Meanwhile there was a high regional demand for high-tech industry. Taxes were raised to flush out dirty industry (thus reducing pollution), commercial replaced some industry and a small residential area was founded in the yet unpolluted south-east corner. Neighbourhood deals Water: bought from Residential Evil Garbage: Bought from Farms and Residential Evil (only 50 units; wft?!) In the pipeline Cut down palms from sidewalks Improve rail freight traffic Build a rail yard Reduce pollution Separate I-M from I-HT (there is a mod for this) Rail and high-tech industry. Don't mind the parabole bug on the rail viaduct. erm Posh residential and train station.
  9. Commission a Lot

Would it be possible to commission someone who knows what they are doing to create a building for me? Nothing fancy. 4x4 high rise. I would like it to employ 10,000 industrial jobs, mainly high tech and manufacturing, no crime or pollution if possible. I know this is cheap and a hack, but am interested in it. Please advise, MayorBCL
  10. Bipin's Police Precinct

    Version V.1.0

    1,575 Downloads

Urban Police Precinct ~ By ~ Perfect for any city in the midst of decay! Included in this download are two lots big and small; the top right and left. respectively. Both precincts, regardless of size, have the ability to dispatch five squad cars. Furthermore, they have a prisoner capacity of 70 inmates. This is slightly higher than the value of the game's "vanilla" stations, for this is simply a larger building. In addition to this download, two dependencies are requried: This is my first actual building besides The Camberton. So please, do enjoy, even if it isn't the best building around. Merely a fun little project of mine to fill a tiny gap.
  11. Industrial - v2.2

So... let's begin with version 2.2. For reference, this is version 2.0 - before the IRM Pack installation. The pictures says stage 1 but it is actually stage 2. The first one was just a horrible (could it be possible?!) mash of street, roads and avenues with extremely cluttered industry and severe traffic congestion. The Maxis Highway was replaced yesterday with a more ... "prettier" NAM highway. It totally killed city funds. 40,000-something Simoleans dropped to roughly 16,000 because the Network muppets didn't know what they were doing. The change was clearly needed because driving through the city was a major pain in the backside. All these on and off ramps in all directions would drive any sane person mad - no pun intended! In the pipeline Figure out where to place railroad Shuffle industry to fit with railroad Focus on South-West sector (workforce from Residential Evil) Whatever else springs to mind as work progresses And since I cannot link a picture from URL... (why?! It worked in the past) Industrial - Overview stage 2.2
  12. Back from addon hell

So I have been away from both the game and this forum for over a year. The reason is rather pathetic, but I think I'm not the first to have experienced it. Addon and Mod HELL! I got so invested in finding new addons and mods, ploppables, auto stuff, you name it, that I actually got burned out from all of it. I remember spending more time sorting and indexing my 100 or so addons (which I know is a small number for other Sim-users) and trying to figure out what worked and what didn't, where to find stuff in game and looking for dependencies that required dependencies, that required... BAH! The one mod that broke me was the IRM Base Pack (Industrial mod). I reached a point where I had to figure out why some of the basic Maxis buildings were, and still are, missing. But I just can't be arsed looking for a solution. Not yet anyway. I'm slowly getting back to the game and have been tweaking Residential Evil a tad bit. Some libraries have been relocated, a house of worship was also relocated after two others were burnt to the ground by fanatics. There is also a recently built Little League Stadium with an arcade hall and tourist trap nearby. As for Industrial (what a lame name), it is my biggest headache right now. It's one giant temporary solution. What I really should do is drop a nuke and have it all erased and start over. But that would be way too easy. The main goal is to demolish the Maxis Highway and replace it with NAM, and re-route the railroad. But first I need to get the RHW-4 neighbour connections sorted. The work-around is avenues.

Kane Tiberium, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- As part of providing some much needed, long overdue upgrades to some of the Maxis I-HT stalwarts, I decided that Kane Tiberium deserved a new 're-imaging' for the 21st Century. After all, the in-game dumpy little structure has been filling up any I-HT zone for almost 15 years, so it is probably due for some extra space. Given the initial rather pointless reference to an external game with the naming of this building, I doubt that such an industry could survive all this time in the real world. So in my version, Kane Tiberium makes NutriliteTM vitamins, minerals & dietary supplements products to turn a buck. Please note that this new file doesn't interfere with the original Maxis files and will work for those who have a Maxis blocker installed. This I-HT Anchor lot comes in two flavours: 4x3 and 4x4 (use the CTRL Key while zoning to ensure that you get the correct lot size). It is growable only on medium and high density Industrial zones and provides between 300 jobs. The building itself is based on a boxy mid-century modern design and brings a retro flair to your industrial zones. Stats, links and dependencies are listed below. --------------------------------------- STATS (IHT): Growth Stage: 3 (medium and high density zones) Bulldoze Cost: §264 Capacity Satisfied: IH-T 300 Pollution: 7 (Air)/ 3 (Water)/ 4 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 55 Mwh Water Consumed: 51 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro Occupant Group: IHT Anchor Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. You must keep only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. Regardless of which file you choose to keep, make sure you DO NOT delete the Lot or Desc files! Jenquai Alchemy, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Another Maxis Hi-tech ( stalwart gets a 21st Century facelift. Jenquai goes from that small half underground building which steps back from the lot (and is accessed via a sort of draw-bridge) to a shiny, new and much larger facility. Just like the previous building which had sunken areas and elevated walkways, this new IHT factory provides a lovely, leafy sunken courtyard for employees to take lunch as well as a raised walkway connecting the two buildings. This version is a Hi-Tech growable anchor 6x6 lot (use the CTRL key when zoning to ensure the correct lot size) and will not interfere with any Maxis blockers or re-lots of the original Jenquai Alchemy. --------------------------------------- STATS IH-T§§§: Lot size : 6x6 (Use the CTRL key when zoning) Growth Stage: 3 (Medium and High Density Zoning) Bulldoze Cost: § 391 Capacity Satisfied: IHT§§§ 838 Pollution: 16 (Air)/ 6 (Water)/ 5 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 117 Mwh Water Consumed: 109 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro Occupant Group: Hi Tech Industrial Anchor Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. It is growable only on medium and high density Industrial zones and provides 1,184 jobs. The building itself is strictly fictional; although I drew inspiration from the some of the Industrial developments that are springing up in SE Asia where large areas of the building activity and function are contained underground. This is one such building as evidenced by the sloping driveway and reflective pond covered roof punctuated by air intake vents. The two floors visible from street level are for office and reception space. After all, the in-game structure that has been filling up any I-HT zone for almost 15 years does not reflect its grandiose name, so it is probably overdue for a facelift and some rebranding. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/ --------------------------------------- DEPENDENCIES: *BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol01.dat: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1180 *BSC Mega Props - CP Vol02.dat: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2790 *PEG CHAINLINK RESOURCE: http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/19338-peg-security-fencing-kit/ To install, simply unzip the file into your plugins folder. Pedriana Pharmaceuticals, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- As part of providing some much needed, long overdue upgrades to some of the Maxis I-HT stalwarts, I decided that Pedriana Pharmaceuticals deserved a new 're-imaging' for the 21st Century. After all, the in-game structure that has been filling up any I-HT zone for almost 15 years does not reflect the grandiose commercial buildings which bear its name, so it is probably overdue for a facelift and some rebranding. Please note that this new file doesn't interfere with the original Maxis files and will work for those who have a Maxis blocker installed. This I-HT Anchor building is substantial and only comes as an 8x8 lot (use the CTRL Key while zoning to ensure that you get the correct lot size). It is growable only on high density Industrial zones and provides 1,079 jobs. The building itself is fictional, but draws inspiration from the Voestalpine Stahl Service Center in Austria. Stats, links and dependencies are listed below. --------------------------------------- STATS (IHT): Growth Stage: 3 (high density zones) Bulldoze Cost: §266 Capacity Satisfied: IH-T 1,079 Pollution: 18 (Air)/ 7 (Water)/ 5 (Garbage) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 133 Mwh Water Consumed: 124 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro Occupant Group: IHT Anchor Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. You must keep only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. Stratton Biotech, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- As part of providing some much needed, long overdue upgrades to some of the Maxis I-HT stalwarts, I decided that Stratton Biotech deserved a new 're-imaging' for the 21st Century. After all, it has been filling up any I-HT zone for almost 15 years, so it is probably due for some extra space. Please note that this new file doesn't interfere with the original Maxis files and will work for those who have a Maxis blocker installed. This I-HT Anchor lot comes in two flavours: 4x4 and 8x8 (use the CTRL Key while zoning to ensure that you get the correct lot size). It is growable only on medium and high density Industrial zones and provides between 204 and 1,122 jobs (depending on the lot size). The building itself is strictly fictional: I have used exposed steel girders, a false wall and false window panelling to shelter a central courtyard. This lends a more substantial air to the front façade. Stats, links and dependencies are listed below. --------------------------------------- STATS (IHT): 4x4 LOT Growth Stage: 3 (medium and high density zones) Bulldoze Cost: §289 Capacity Satisfied: IH-T 204 Pollution: 5 (Air)/ 2 (Water)/ 4 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 38 Mwh Water Consumed: 35 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro Occupant Group: IHT Anchor Building 8x8 LOT Growth Stage: 3 (medium and high density zones) Bulldoze Cost: §1,066 Capacity Satisfied: IH-T 1,112 Pollution: 18 (Air)/ 7 (Water)/ 5 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 135 Mwh Water Consumed: 126 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro Occupant Group: IHT Anchor Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. 24. Hi everyone I am having a problem with Paengs IND Alleys. I only get one single tile instead of 3 tiles (straight piece) and cannot connect tiles together as the notice shows the neighbour tile is already occupied (though it is blank). See pic. I can separate the tiles, but cannot get them together to make a concurrent alley: Does anyone know why this is the case or am I using them incorrectly? I have tried dragging road through, but they remain as road in between Thanks for any help. PC
