  1. Overlay Texture conflict?

    I have a puzzling glitch in some of my modded lots from 2023, no matter how it appears in the Lot Editor, when I open up my city the overlay texture is all wrong. Even if I create a new lot the same overlay texture conflict occurs. It happens across a number of lots from 2023. What could be causing this and what is the remedy? I think the overlay tile is from the The Thing series of parks, I don't know why it's turning up in my lot?

  5. Hi, I came across this problem where many Images & Thumbnails on this website failed to load properly. It happened sporadically here and there. I tried to refresh the page but to no avail sometimes. I didn't use any extensions at all. I tried to wait until the image to load for few minutes but it still won't show up. I also check my internet connections, it was all fine and all other websites work perfectly fine. Did anybody face the same problem?
  6. Hello everyone! I've been playing SimCity4 on Steam for a couple of months now and all of the sudden, the sound is gone. I've troubleshot the issue using the on game controls and I can get the Background Music (BGM) to play without an issue, and control it using the volume up and down. I've tried doing the same with Audio and nothing, zero. Has anyone had this happened? Thanks for your time and patience!
  7. Hello! I've been recently adding custom content to my game, and two train stations have a strange effect I can't understand. The first is Marrast 1x6 Rail Station (capacity 4000) and the other is the small of the SemiTransparent Train Stations set by cogeo (10,000 capacity). When I build the small capacity (4000) usage is high (10,000+) When I build the large capacity (10,000) usage is low (1000-2000) This effect even happens when eliminating all variables by starting from an identical save point, and building each station in the EXACT same spot. I can't figure out why this happens :S And I'd love to know because there's no space for other train stations that don't go right on top of the rails : )
  8. Hi! I've been getting increasingly into tinkering with my mods and creating edits of vanilla lots to play with. One thing I've been really wanting in my game is small, tiny schoolhouses for small neighborhoods. Tiny neighborhoods are neat for keeping commutes short, you see. So I have oft ended up plopping the vanilla 2x3 elementary school down and just consistently using a tiny fraction of the budget, over and over. it's hard to fine tune the budget using so little of the bar and if I only have 30 students in a school I feel like maybe I should be able to use a bit less space. 2x2 or 1x2. The problem I run into is that any time I try to set the school capacity lower than 500 in the ilives reader, the school just totally stops working in the game. If the capacity is under 500, no students attend the school at all, regardless of all the unused capacity. Does anyone know why that is? Is there a way for me to get around/ change this? And if not, why is that the case? Thanks for anyone's time reading, cheers!

    New to forum.. mods take leniency on me I’m still figuring out this forum architecture. this was originally posted on Reddit but decided it would have some value in this community aswell.. hopefully a search engine will hit one or the other… and there are dedicated folk here worth sharing and for those interested below the original post a small recount of this learning experience. Original post below: it was kind of embarrasing the effort I went to to figure out this info. After reading the included how to html and jdatpacker files plus a couple of threads here on simtropolis and reddit. I ended up tracing through the visible folders, finding hidden (non-visible) folders. Reading that Mac App Store purchase support is limited I ended up in frustration using a carpet bombing approach the file location process with three ###.dat in every folder but to no avail. so off to find new solution, looking for hidden files .. right clicked game icoN found the show contents in a menu.. scour new folder pathway and the relief moment finding the SimCity.Sat folders… cmd c cmd v… load game.. loading took more than usual… yew bloody bewdy.. modded. now I’m looking for any plugin folders and .dat files in slots that were useless. hope this made someone chuckle.
  11. Hello. I bought SimCity 2013 a few months ago. But sinse i bought the game, i have encountered a lot of bugs and errors. First, the game would not open at first becouse there was a problem with the "properties.txt" file of the game. After i solved this error, another bug started to occur: The game suddenly freezes. While playing the game normally, it freezes all of a sudden and i cannot load that city again. When i try to load the city, i get stuck on the loading screen forever. I created another city and after playing for a while, the city i created suddenly froze and stopped loading. According tp research i did, i read that some corrupt "scripts" files are causing the game to freeze, but i am not sure. I suspect that the buildings that are causing the game to freeze are the parks because whenever i place a park, game freezes immediately, or after placing any other building. I am not sure. I also noticed that the game freezes after going into the settings section of the game and changing a few settings. I hope someone has some solutions that can help.
  12. Connection Issues

    Hi, First post, asking for help, which I will apologise for, but I'm having a bit of an issue with inter-city connections (they've completely stopped working), I'll give some context: - I was previously running on the default starting region, everything is working fine between cities and allowing them to grow quite successfully.. - I have some mods installed, notable NAM and CAM, as far as I can tell there were no issues with either of these, mostly I have them for the improved simulation and don't use the more complex road tools, etc. - I decided, as I hadn't played in a while, I would start again in a new region and therefore switched to the default 'New York' map and intended to do things 'properly'. - The first city which I built stalled growth at around 5k inhabitants, despite high residential demand across all three tiers. - Built some extra cities to feed into it, with no effect. - Noticed that inter-city connections, although they appear on the new / previous map when created (i.e. the road / rail / water connection is physically there), the connection arrows are not present. Further testing, and far as I can tell, there is no inter-city migration to provide for growth, therefore the city never receives tourists, workers or migrants from other adjacent or regional cities (this seems to be true for airports, ports, roads, rail, etc.) - it's like they're completely isolated from each other and therefore can't grow? All of the mods were working correctly (as far as I can tell) on the previous region and still seem to do so. Has anyone come across this before or could suggest the reason this is happening, because it's kinda broken the game at this point? Thanks.

Hi everybody, i don't know if this is the right section for this topic, anyway i have downloaded the BSC Common Dipendencies pack v9b and i have tried to extract the files with 7z program manually because for the moment i want only 2 files in this big archive, but during the extraction 7z at a certain point stop to extract and an error with the same name of the file appear, but i can only close the 7z window and so i can't extract this dependencies, i have tried this 3 times and is always the same, anybody know what can i do? Actually the files that i need are only 2, "jenx medieval houses prop pack" and "bat props jenx vol 2" and i find them only in this huge archive, i need them for the building models of "jenx fachwerk houses" and "paeng old town center", if there is an alternative way to have only this 2 files without downloading all the mega archive will be great, and if there is out there other medieval buildings sets let me know, thanks to everybody and sorry for my english
  14. Every time I try to substitute my BAT building "Blandford Street" into a game, it now produces garbage on those squres then crashes the game when I move the cursor. I have tried reloading, ever deleting a single square and putting it back, but it still just keeps doing the same. When a different building is substituted in, like the Antriquarian bookshop, the problem disappears. This building took nearly a week of my time. Does anyone have any ideas how to save it? Or can someone reedit it to be safe? I thank you in advance of your learned help. Robert
  15. This is my first time using the forums, so I really hope I can find some help here. I've grown up playing SimCity 2013 and have wanted to come back to it - this time with mods. I installed a few, made sure they were compatible with each other, then started the game to begin my new city. At first everything was working well, but when I quickly reloaded after having a break, I was met with these glitched ghost roads that couldn't be interacted with. Any new road I drew ended up having the same issue affecting them and I'm so confused. If anyone is able to help me with this issue, I'd appreciate it. I think the Pedestrian Paths mod is causing it but I'm not sure and I'm really hoping that's not the case. I have provided a screenshot of both the issue as well as my SimCityData folder to show what mods I have installed.
  16. Hi, Since returning to SimCity 4, I've been having the issue where textures begin to 'overlay' on themselves when scrolling. I am using the version of DGvoodoo from SC4Evermore alongside the Graphics and CPU .DLL mods (set to DirectX mode) provided here on Simtropolis, but still seem to be running into graphical issues. I have tweaked all the settings that I can think of on my end and the issue unfortunately does not cease. I did not have this issue on the old SC4Launcher but it appears that has been hidden after the DLL mods were released. I am playing on an RTX 4070 with a 2560x1140 monitor on Windows 11, if that helps. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  18. Traffic Vanished

    Hi everybody, I have just downloaded and activated the MOD such as NAM, SC4CPUOptions and SC4GraphicsOptions, but I got a bug once I start playing with the standard gameplay. Traffic has just vanished with no reasons, so I cannot see cars and traffic anymore. Did anyone get the same problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks in advance
  19. Hello! I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct place to post about these issues I've been having, please let me know if I should move this somewhere else. I've been having issues runnning SimCity 4 as of lately that I couldn't find answers for online even after looking for hours everywhere. Here's what's been going on: Im trying to play the game in 2560x1080 (my native resolution) and I've been using dgVoodoo for that. However, I noticed that if I run the game in fullscreen mode (used to use the SC4 Launcher, migrated to the SC4GraphicsOptions dll mod a while back) Rivatuner reports the graphics API being used as "DD", which Im fairly certain means DirectDraw, instead of the DirectX12 API I configured in dgVoodoo. In this state the game operates fine but with stuttering and not-so-great (but playable) FPS. Things change if I change any of the graphics settings though: - if I set dgVoodoo to any other DirectX version other than DX12, the game immediately falls back into Software rendering during launch - if I set the game to Windowed/Borderless in GraphicsOptions.ini, and use any DirectX version other than 12, the game still falls back to Software rendering - if I use the same settings as above, but using DirectX 12, the game runs perfectly fine and at high FPS with barely any stuttering, but it inevitable crashes after a few minutes of playing However, sometimes it's just the game that crashes, and some other times it also causes my graphics driver (Im using a desktop Nvidia GPU) to crash as well, ether freezing my PC for a second or outright causing a BSOD. Things I've tested trying to resolve the issue: - Changing the window mode setting for dgVoodoo between Fullscreen and Windowed (no difference) - Forcing and unforcing Vsync (no difference) - Disabling Rivatuner (no difference) - Updating drivers (no difference) - Running DDU and doing a clean driver install (no difference) - Changing the resolution used in the dgVoodoo config GUI to my specific monitor resolution instead of "Unforced" (no difference) - Using an older version of dgVoodoo (no difference, latest version also made no difference) - Disabling fullscreen optimizations for SimCity 4 (no difference) - Using DirectX 12 feature level 11.0 in dgVoodoo - getting rid of all downloaded assets and running "Vanilla" (not counting NAM, SC4Fix, and the popular dll mods for CPU core count and the aforementioned GraphicsOptions dll) - The crashes also happen regardless of simulation speed or if the game is minimized or not, and seems to always occur roughly 5-7 minutes after I enter a map inside a region. Only other wrapper I've tested so far other than dgVoodoo2 was DxWrapper which works ok but performance leaves a bit to be desired vs dgV and also frequently crashes during zoom-ins/zoom-outs. Unsure if this is relevant as well, but my PC specs are: Ryzen 5600X, 32GB of RAM, and an RTX 3070. Game is installed in a HDD (not an SSD). This issue doesn't happen in any other game I own, regardless of play time, API it uses, or anything else, seems to be exclusive to SimCity 4 using the specific settings I mentioned above. Anyone else experienced this before? Or at least know something about it? Any info will be greatly appreciated!
  20. Hello again, I have yet another question~! I've been using @pjot's Diagonal Jagged Edges Mod to beautify my sunken networks and such. However, I've noticed that once you go under a certain elevation, around 15m above surrounding ground level, the mod only works in one direction, as seen in the two images below... On the left, its sunken and funky, but on the right, its diagonal and lovely. As you can see, I tried decorating it with these lovely walls I just recently downloaded, but the unevenness is teasing my OCD. This tunnel is built 7.5m down from the surrounding earth - I like having my sunken stuff at this depth because it aligns with the height for L1 NAM viaducts, ramps and such. In the mod's description, it explicitly states, "in the screenshots the height difference is 15m. If anyone thinks the mod is to/not enough radical You can pm me and I'll show you how to alter the value." However, that was posted in 2006, the year I was born so, I doubt that it's still an option to pm @pjot, lmao. If anybody knows how to make the mod more ~radical~, or an alternative option, please lmk! Thank you!<3
  21. As a foreword: New to Simtropolis and new to SimCity 4 modding I'm trying to get back into SC4 and a few days ago I thought I had stuff figured out. Downloaded the critical mods from the Ulisse Wolf list (the 4gb patch which I ran on the SimCity 4 .exe which I have via Steam, SC4CPU Options, SC4Graphics Options, SC4Fix, SC4Autosave, Startup Performance Optimization DLL), downloaded sc4pac to help with adding some stuff and downloaded the essential fixes from there (at least I think I did). Downloaded NAM and BSC and all of the dependencies. I'm loaded into the tutorial region, no hassles. I run through the tutorials, even play on the Making Money tutorial city for a bit. Only issue I ever experienced was that there was a weird visual glitch. Lines would pop up if you looked somewhere that was out of your view based on your zoom level or you'd get a repeated image effect that you could undo if you zoomed or rotated the camera. I can only think it might be because I deleted the backgrounds and I don't know if that breaks anything (keeping them or deleting them doesn't change anything in if it loads/doesn't, for the record) I don't particularly know what to do. I can only upload my two plugin folders and my sc4pac command line to give some info. I'm completely lost and don't know if I should just completely nuke and reinstall everything manually. If I do have to reinstall manually, how can I make sure everything stays stable.
  22. Can't click on anything

    Recently I downloaded the game on my 2023 M2 MacBook Air and have found that I am unable to click on anything. I can only click on a small square around the centre of the screen and either the controls on the bottom of the screen and the options on the right are unable to be clicked, so I cannot either start a city or alter my settings to try fix the issue. All the advice on this issue relies on changing in game resolution - which I can't do as I can't click the settings. I feel like this is probably due to the notch on top of the screen, but does anyone know a way to either play in a windowed mode or to fix this issue?
  23. Yo, guys -- I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this question -- but here goes...... Yesterday, I was trying to make a new entry to my "CJ" -- but I kept getting this notice...... SECURITY FIREWALL ACTIVATED FOR YOUR IP. I tried resetting the IP by restarting the machine, but it simply blocked the new IP number as well. Today, I tried pasting just a couple of paragraphs before saving -- and it went through. I kept adding paragraphs, one at a time, and things seemed to be going well. Unfortunately -- it only took so much text before the "blocked" message appeared again. Am I right in guessing there is a size limit on how long a CJ can be - ??

    After much blood, much sweat, and lots of tears, (along with endless curses) and many, many thanks to all the tutorials/help on this site I managed to create the First Canadian Place (Bank Of Montreal) tower in Toronto, setup as a ploppable landmark. It's my first attempt so not great, but I'm surprisingly happy with it. Have a problem though. The problem being the building doesn't line up with the blue plop 'marker'/guide in game (see screenshot). The lot is 6 wide by 4 high. When I select the building and go to plop it, it's offset to the left by 3 squares, and down by 2 squares. Then when I build it, trees still appear 'in' the building I'm guessing because of this, and the 'developed' land (6x4 plot) doesn't line up. I used PIMX to create the lot using my exported GMAX/BAT model. Which leads to me to my 2nd issue, as I'm using PIMX because the Lot Editor crashes and I can't get it working (I've included the error details - anybody else come across this?). This isn't as big an issue if I can continue to use PIMX though. I don't know how to fix the placement to get it to line up in game. It seems like the lot in PIMX appears correct based on the yellow/red/blue/green guidelines. Any ideas? Thanks
  25. Edit - Resolution: It seems like the Steam is a step behind the AppStore in terms of release version. For now, this problem is a Steam-only bug on Mac. I guess there isn't anything you can do to fix it, other than waiting for an update. Original Post: I'm on an Intel Mac with Sonoma (14.3.1) and have both the AppStore and Steam versions. (Only the Steam version is installed at the moment.) Ever since I've switched to the Steam version, things like landfills and de-zoning tool produce a segmented look with spaces between tiles; and streets, roads etc. have thin black lines in-between each segment. (Screenshot provided below.) I'm pretty sure that other things in the game also have thin black lines in-between them. (The grid is off, and has a different look than what I'm describing anyway.) I removed all the mods (had NAM and SC4 Fix etc.) and reinstalled the game but the problem persisted. The AppStore version didn't have this problem. (I've switched to Steam because of other reasons and bugs.) Does anyone have an idea what could cause this problem and how can I fix it?
