Designed by the late Helmut Jahn and completed in 1984, this 20-ish story postmodern tower is tucked away among the government buildings of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. I've always thought this building had the perfect size and form to be the defining building of a mid-sized city's skyline, but its unfortunate location in real life means that it's difficult to see from most angles, forever overshadowed by its much taller neighbors. This building sits on a 4x4 lot and comes in growable and ploppable CO$$ varieties, both of which provide 2476 jobs. Both Darknite and Maxisnite versions are provided. Only one may be used at a time. The Darknite version requires SimFox's Day and Nite Modd. Dependencies: BSC Common Dependencies Pack (specifically BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol01, and BSC TexturePack Cycledogg V01) Enjoy!- 7 Reviews

If you spend enough time traveling around Minneapolis, you'll start to see buildings that look a lot like this all over the place. Most of them are from the 1920s and used to be corner stores. You can typically spot them by their decorative brickwork, which is usually visible even if it's been painted over. This one happens to be a bakery in south Minneapolis (and a pretty good one at that - try the coconut rocher). If I'm being honest, I think Sun Street Breads a few blocks east is a better bakery, but their building is an ugly strip mall. This W2W building sits on a 2x1 lot and comes in growable and ploppable CS$$ varieties, both of which provide 17 jobs. Both Darknite and Maxisnite versions are provided. Only one may be used at a time. The Darknite version requires SimFox's Day and Nite Modd. Dependencies: None Enjoy!- 6 Reviews

Built in 1982, it's a nice filler building, so it has that going for it. I messed with the scaling a little bit to make it a W2W, so it's a bit slimmer than its RL counterpart. Fun fact: it's located immediately next door to another BAT of mine. This is a 4x1 W2W building that comes in growable and ploppable CO$$ varieties, both of which provide 544 jobs. Both Darknite and Maxisnite versions are provided. Only one may be used at a time. The Darknite version requires SimFox's Day and Nite Modd. Dependencies: None Enjoy!- 3 Reviews

Located near (but not actually on) Bren Road, this generic late 70s office building can be found just off of highway 62 west of Minneapolis. A friend of mine used to work in its twin, which was torn down a few years ago, and I suspect this one will follow suit in the coming years. I drive past it frequently, so I figured it would be proper to immortalize this irreplaceable architectural marvel before it gets the wrecking ball. This building sits on a 6x6 lot and comes in growable and ploppable CO$$ varieties, both of which provide 758 jobs. Both Darknite and Maxisnite versions are provided. Only one may be used at a time. Based on a garden variety early-2000s office building in northeast Minneapolis. If it weren't for the weird circular mechanical housing, you could drive past it a million times and never notice it. This building sits on a 7x6 lot and comes in growable and ploppable varieties, both of which provide 1250 CO$$ jobs. Additionally, the building's wingnut shape also lent itself to making a fractional angle version. It's not a perfect fit (20 degree angle vs. 18.4 degrees for FAR), but it's pretty darn close. Both versions have different IIDs, so you can use both of them at the same time. Both Darknite and Maxisnite versions are provided (for both the ortho and the FAR version), of which only one should be used at a time. The Darknite version requires Simfox's Day and Nite Modd. Another week, another map, this time it's the Twin Cities, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, U.S.A. (for SimCity 4). It is the capital and largest metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Minnesota, with a population of 3.69 million. The map is 28 x 20 large city tiles and is accurately scaled based on DEM data. Elevations have been compressed so that the region's many lakes are filled with game water. It stretches generally from Lakeville in the south to Oak Grove in the north and from Waconia to the west to areas in Wisconsin east of the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. The map encompasses the entirety of the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. In order to install the map you will need wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer as the file is in SC4M format. I hope you can put this map to good use, enjoy! -TCC View My Full Map Catalogue Here:- 1 Review

Designed by renowned architect Philip Johnson, the IDS Center was completed in 1972 and is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At 776 feet to its roof, 792 feet to the top of its rooftop window washing garage (included in its official height so as to narrowly eclipse two of its neighbors in the rankings), and 910 feet to the top of its antennae, the building is indisputably the tallest in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the entire midwestern US outside of Chicago. Ever since I joined the site in 2005, I've hoped for someone to recreate this building (it's even my username). Since it never happened, I went ahead and made it myself! This one has been an on-and-off work in progress since about 2015, and after 8 complete revisions of the glass material and a few full days of rendering time, I am pleased to finally be able to present it to you. I have included CO$$ and CO$$$ versions in both growable and ploppable varieties, as well as an additional pair of CAM growables (which require this mod). All versions are available in Darknite and Maxisnite varieties and sit on 4X6 lots. The Darknite version requires Simfox's Day and Nite Modd, and only one version can be used at a time. Built in 1963, these apartments sit just off of highway 94 a few blocks east of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. Though they are closer to the freeway, they are easy to miss next to the far more prominent Riverside Plaza complex, which was designed by local architect Ralph Rapson. This pack contains four variations on a single building layout: two that are ten stories and two that are five. The real-world building off which these are based is closest in appearance to the Powderhorn Building, but to create some more variety, I have also made a version in red brick for each the five-story and ten-story variants. The ten-story variants (Powderhorn and Loring) both house 1412 R$ sims, while the five-story variants house 636 R$ sims. All of the lots are 5X2 and are provided as growables. Rapson Library is an early 60s academic building based heavily on the University of Minnesota's Rapson Hall, located on the east bank of the Twin Cities campus. It is named for modernist architect Ralph Rapson, who was the head of the university's architecture department from 1954 to 1984. Though Rapson was responsible for a sizeable number of modernist works, perhaps he is best known for his Riverside Plaza apartment complex, which received mainstream attention when it was featured in the Mary Tyler Moore Show. To be clear, the real-world Rapson Hall was not designed by Ralph Rapson, but rather by Thorshov and Cerny, another Minneapolis-based firm. As the title suggests, I have modded this building as a library. One dependency is required - Volume 1 of the Cycledogg BSC texture pack. As always, I have included two options for the night scene: one that fits with the game's default night mode, and one that makes use of Simfox's delightful darknite mod. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you have or bugs you find. You can also check out my current projects here.- 3 Comments

Another Minnesota building! It's almost as if I have a preference for that sort of thing. This particular building is located by the Mississippi River's western bank, right at the heart of the western portion of the University of Minnesota's Twin Cities campus. Dating to 1963, it was among the first buildings to be completed as part of the university's expansion across the river. Over 50 years later, it remains the tallest university building on the western side of the river and is home to, unsurprisingly, a number of social science departmental offices. I've modded it as a ploppable college building as well as a growable CO$$ building. As usual, both darknite and maxisnite versions are included. The darknite scene requires this lovely mod from Simfox. Otherwise, this baby is dependency free. Note that two versions of this model are included - one with modeled ground and one with an editable lot. I kept the editable version simple so you can play around with it freely - I'm curious to see what you all come up with! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you have or bugs you find. You can also check out my current projects here.- 4 Comments

Capella Tower (also 225 South Sixth) is a skyscraper in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. The building opened in 1992 with the First Bank Place being the headquarters for First Bank System. In 1997, First Bank System acquired US Bancorp and changed the name of the building to US Bancorp Place. The headquarters of US Bancorp moved into the US Bancorp Center in 2000, whereupon the tower changed to 225 South 6th Street. In March 2009, the building took its present name. The ranking of the building as the tallest in Minneapolis is in dispute. The IDS Center is usually said to be taller by one foot, even by the owners of Capella Tower. It was initially said to be built one foot shorter out of respect for the IDS Center; however, in 2005, it was revealed that contractors had surreptitiously added 14 inches (36 centimeters) of height to Capella, therefore making it taller than the main roof of IDS Center. In February 2005, the IDS counted a 16-foot-tall (5-meter) window washing garage built on its roof in 1979 as part of its actual height, making it 14 ft (4.3 m) taller than Capella Tower. This ambiguity between official measurements and public relations statements might be due in some part to the "halo" that extends out from the roof, which is apparently included in the building's official height (though this is unclear). The office building, designed by Pei, Cobb, Freed & Partners,is laid out on an L-shaped site with the 56-story tower connected to the 20-story Park Building by a corner winter garden. The building combines six-story cubes and various round towers which echo the different styles of buildings in downtown Minneapolis. The illuminated semicircle located atop the tower is not only decorative but also houses an antenna farm and communications network. This feature has given the building the nickname the "Halo Building". Well, it only took me three years. I created the first house model back in August of 2012. I was pretty good at avoiding making any progress on these for a while, but I finally got the urge to actually finish them over spring break a couple months back. Today, I present to you 8 house designs with 4 color variations each for a total of 32 unique houses. Additionally, I have modeled a small set of 9 detached garages to supplement the houses in a manner similar to what you might see in real life. However, for those of you who prefer the default Maxis garages, I am including a separate version that does not contain the ones I modeled. Also, for anyone who would like to use the garages (or the houses, of course) in your own lots, you hereby have my permission! These houses are all based on real world counterparts in the Morris Park neighborhood of South Minneapolis. To anyone who lives there: I apologize for spending hours on end looking at your house on Google Maps. It's only weird if you make it weird. The brilliant SimCoug has graciously lotted and modded a wide variety of lots of various sizes for this upload, which uses the following dependencies: JMyers Homes Vol 01 ('Props' and 'Textures' folders only) BSC Textures Pack CycleDog Vol 1 BSC MEGA Props CP Vol01 BSC MEGA Props CP Vol02 BSC MEGA Props SG Vol01 KrashSpeed's Mailbox Set wmp_fence_props03.dat and wmp_garden_props02.dat Included inside: WMP Mega Props vol. 01 - Misc General Props And, as always, the Darknite version requires this bad boy (https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/) for the dankest of dank nightviews. Huge thanks to SimCoug for his magnificent work on these! For the curious, the number of lots broken down by size: 2x3 - 2 (growth stage 1) 3x2 - 2 (growth stage 1) 2x2 - 4 (growth stage 2) 1x3 - 5 (growth stage 3) 1x2 - 5 (growth stage 4) 2x1 - 2 (growth stage 4) 1x1 - 5 (growth stage 5) 25 lots total, all of which grow on the Houston Tile set and have the same stats as R$$ standard Houston homes. Special thanks to our Dirktator for his patience with me while I experienced issues uploading! I'd also like to give a shoutout to the community at large for your continued support. I've been on this site for over 10 years now (which seems absolutely insane) and I've seen a lot of faces come and go, but the community as a whole is just as helpful and welcoming as it always has been. Enjoy! Or don't, I suppose, as long as you give me feedback. CB Edit: Added WMP dep link. Thanks again to @Garlicked for reporting.- 13 Comments

I'll open by saying that I have a personal hatred for this building. I made this model as a way of coping with the fact that, despite my absolute best efforts, I have been unable to avoid this building. I'll sign up for a class in another lecture hall, and then check my schedule the day before classes begin only to see that the lecture has been moved to this soulless behemoth. The dim fluorescent lighting, crumbling concrete interior, leaky ceilings, propensity to act as a staging ground for muggings, and overpowering musty smell all contribute to an ambiance that is unique to late 60s university buildings built for pennies on the dollar. To make matters worse, none of the four "pods" visible on the building are connected by any sort of hallway except for one in the basement, meaning that one must often exit the building entirely in order to travel between sections. During Minnesota winters, this isn't the most desirable setup. A quick visit to the building's Foursquare page gives some excellent insights into the building's many selling points: "Most depressing building on campus." "What monster designed this building? Surely someone with a strong hatred of people." "Remember to pay attention to what door you are going in because each door only let's [sic] you access certain classrooms!" "If you enjoy flesh eating and antibiotic resistant diseases, I urge you to use the restrooms in this hall." Anyway, despite being blacklisted by the university a few years back, it seems Anderson Hall is here to stay. It contains several full-sized lecture halls, making it a valuable commodity that is very difficult to effectively replace. Perhaps I overreacted - I suppose it does a good job of fulfilling its intended role, and I'd probably better just get used to it. At least the lecture halls have plenty of leg room. When you get away from the building for a while (as is fortunately an option for me this semester), you can actually begin to appreciate the building's place in history. In the early 60s, the University of Minnesota was looking to expand its campus. The west bank of the Mississippi River (directly across the Washington Avenue Bridge from main campus) was deemed a desirable site for this expansion, though a large swath of the existing neighborhood needed to be demolished to make room. Anderson Hall (1967) is just one of the many buildings constructed on west bank, the majority of which were designed by renowned firm Setter Leach & Lindstrom. Due to the building's rather generic appearance, I have modded it as both a college building and a library. Both sit on a 2x6 lot. As always, both Maxisnite and Darknite versions are available - download and install only one at a time, or you'll wish you had never been born. The Darknite version requires Simfox's mod available here. I sincerely hope this BAT brings you far more joy than its real life counterpart has brought me over the past few years. As always, please leave feedback below! Thank you all for your support, and click here to see my current projects! -
