Hello everyone! I really love the game SimCity 4 — about 10 years ago, I even recreated it in paper form. Now I’m back to doing it again. I’ve been chatting with a friend who also loves this game, and he recommended that I join this wonderful platform to share my work and get inspired by buildings and ideas from other people. So I decided to go for it! Yes, unfortunately, there is a war in our country. Due to health reasons, I can’t move around much, so I mostly stay at home. BUT! That doesn’t stop me from working with my hands and using my mind! Right now, my son and I are making paper models together and having a great time! So, hi to all! I’d love to share my paper models. I’m new here, and after checking out some of your posts — I’m absolutely amazed! You guys are incredible. So many ideas, and so many of them already brought to life. In a nearby thread, one member creates everything in 3D — I’m blown away. I have a collection of over 300 unique paper building templates. I’ll be very happy to share my work in paper modeling with you. I’ve gathered A LOT over the years. But all in good time. I’d also be grateful if you have any textures of finished buildings and are willing to share them. Thank you, @bhmantan for telling me about this site! Big thanks to the administrator @CorinaMarie and everyone who supports this platform — that’s truly inspiring as well! Thank you all so much! P.S. Please also forgive any mistakes or inaccuracies in my words — English is not my native language.

Have been trying to build a blacksmith mod for banished, started off with a model from turbosquid .... see here for a picture of it https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/762782-creating-mods-in-banished/ But I'm not a 3d modeller so eventually give up trying to use it for a blacksmith mod (called it a wheelwright), and borrowed a mushroom from kid1293, so far I've got all the menus sorted, including creating my own menu button But its refusing to make tools, the actual mod program is made of the following folders and has 240 files in it, most of which have been created in the Bin and Build folders which is generated every time you run a build.bat I think the issue is in this part of the code EDIT: Have worked out why this isn't working and have posted an explanation over here

By any chance is there someone who knows how to find this lot? There's a reward building I can't unlock until I first have this one built. I thought I found a link for it here to SC4Devotion, but I'm not sure what's going on with that site right now. Thanks.

Hello everyone, SimCity 4 was among my favourite hobbies growing up, and I want to pay homage to the series by modeling all of it, because nobody's done it yet, so why not. I thought perhaps you would be interested to see how it's coming along! Current progress: 19/600+ buildings modeled, 11 printed (4 not shown here), and a city-building set is in the works. Estimated completion time: 5 years. I keep a blog with daily updates. Don't want to spam this forum. See you all in 2028! 😊

Hey, I've already shared this on the SimCity subreddit, but I wanted to do so here as well. I have created an art book for SimCity 2013, given that they never officially released one, I hope you enjoy it. It contains all the released concept art as well as some quotes and tidbits from the people at Maxis. Download here 78MB

Gaia Beirut Plaza, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- This BAT is a replica of a simple memorial which stood in Beirut. In 2018, the director of the Letitia Gallery in Beirut, Gaia Foudolian, commissioned British artist Nathaniel Rackowe to make a metal sculpture (called simply LP46) to stand in the city's Martyr Square as part of 'The Shape of a City' project. The sculpture was removed a year and half later amid controversy which left both Nathaniel and Gaia dumbfounded: I will not elaborate on that controversy, but in the words of the artist, the piece represented the architecture of the city: "...the bones of new buildings...I used light to transform the hard material of steel, as a means to reveal beauty in the city." It is crucial to recognise the value of arts and culture to our society: art can influence by uniting, by dividing, by changing opinions, challenging values and providing a visual medium that translates experiences fundamental to the sense of self and place that transcend space and time. The blast which shattered Beirut shortly after 6pm on August 4, 2020, destroyed the Letitia Gallery (which, like most of Beirut's galleries and museums, is close to the port district) and killed its director Gaia Foudolian. Most of us will live our lives with little fanfare and influence only those in our immediate sphere: our stories will not be recorded in verse, nor will our likeness be portrayed by great artists to adorn the walls of galleries. Cities will not rise or fall before us, and in our passing, with time, we too will be forgotten just as all of those since the beginning of time who have gone before us are forgotten. This piece of art originally commissioned by Gaia, is returned for her memory, and for all of those ordinary citizens of Beirut whose lives have been taken and altered by this inconceivable tragedy. It is offered as a 2x2 plaza lot (found in the parks menu). Placing it will boost the desirability of nearby residential and commercial areas, as well as alleviating residential demand CAPs which can inhibit city growth. --------------------------------------- STATS PLAZA: Lot size : 2x2 Plop Cost: $ 90 Bulldoze Cost: $ 141 Demand Satisfied:R$ 16,000, R$$ 16,000, R$$$ 16,000 Pollution: 0 (Air)/ 0 (Water)/ 0 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 0/0/0 Park Effect: 20 over 40 tiles Landmark Effect: 100 over 10 tiles Monthly cost: $ 45 Power Consumed:0 Mwh Water Consumed: 0 Gal/Month Occupant Group: Building: Civic; Park --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/) --------------------------------------- DEPENDENCIES: There are no dependencies required for this lot. --------------------------------------- To install, simply unzip the contents of this file into your plugins folder. -
Question, if I wanted to mod, what software would I need in order to edit the SimCity files? I do have photoShop and I have been a 3D artist since 1999 so this end is covered, need to know software files used to make the mods work in SimCity. I am sure there is a learning curve and I am willing to do it, at least for as long a this virus quarantine for the ENTIRE planet is in effect. Any help would be a huge thanks... R.C.

São Paulo Art Museum (MASP), by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- In my opinion, one of the easiest ways to change the look and feel of a built-up area is by having a large variety of civic buildings: it really does help keep the game fresh and can provide that all important sense of place. This building was done at the request of a fellow SC4 player and is a recreation of the Museu de Arte de São Paulo on Paulista Avenue. It was built in 1968 and is an eye catching steel, concrete and glass structure which is supported by two red lateral reinforced concrete beams to provide over 70m of free standing, unencumbered space at street level. As well as housing art, it also has one of the largest art libraries in São Paulo. While the front building is accurate to the real life structure, I have taken liberties with the area at the back in order to make this a good game asset. I have made this part of the building a sunken area rather than force the player to terraform the ground before placing the museum. It means that this building should be placed on flat ground. In game this operates as a large Museum in terms of jobs provided (167), student capacity (27,000) and radius (7,160). The building is found in the education menu. --------------------------------------- STATS MUSEUM: Lot Size: 6x4 Occupant Groups: Civic, Museum Plop Cost: § 7,250 Jobs: Jobs§ 25; Jobs§§ 102; Jobs§§§ 40 Bulldoze Cost: § 7,500 Power Consumption: 8 MWh Water Consumption: 38 Gal/month Pollution: 4 (Air)/ 3 (Water)/ 2 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 3/4/0 Coverage Radius: 7,160 Museum Capacity: 27,000 EQ Boost: 40 Effectiveness vs Age:20: 0; 30: 0.3; 40: 0.3; 50: 0.3; 60: 0.75; 70: 1.5; 80: 3 Budget Item Cost: § 600 --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: There are two model files in this download. You must select the appropriate file from the download. The file suffixed with 'DN' is for those users with a night-time darkening mod installed. The file suffixed with 'MN' is for users who do not have any such mods installed. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. Welcome to my SimArt journal! I decided to put all my city art together into one journal, so I can have them all in one place! This journal will have mostly SimCity-related art, (or just regular cities), and possibly some sneak peaks of future CJ updates (Million Sims challenge anyone?) A little background: I've been drawing cities since 6th grade (2008). My first City building game ever was SimCity Societies late 2007, (which was fun) and then I got SimCity 4 for the first time months later and got hooked to it. I was let down by the lack of 3D at first, but I accepted it since the game was so fun. It became my go-to game for a long time. Around 2008, I started googling SimCity 5, and I would wonder if it would ever come out. I decided to draw my idea of what I wanted "SimCity 5" to look like. A lot of the drawings were done while I was at school bored or during free time. I've been drawing cities even until this day. I was all to familiar with the phrase "Put that drawing away" I got from teachers! Anyhow, without any further ado, Let's get started! I will save my most recent art for last (on the bottom). The top of the drawings contain the title and the bottom is the description/meaning. For most of my older middle/High-school drawings, I wrote what I feel they mean to me now and what they symbolize. First drawing: Blue Republic City: Main Street South (Commercial District) (Partial, will show the rest next update!) (Completed in November 2013; Senior Year of HS) SimCity 4 in 3D; Two MAVE-6's intersecting, note some of the Maxis CO$$$ buildings, and a R$$ on the right City From above Started in late 2011, beginning of my sophomore year of HS (10th grade). With only 4 blocks complete, it was put away in a pile of papers for over 6 MONTHS before I dug it out when I was throwing away other papers. Have I not found this, this drawing would've been thrown away too. It was finished just before my sophomore year in May 2012. Highway From Hell RHW-6C highway that leads to Woodland City Completed May 2013, this drawing took about two days to complete; The majority of it was worked on in my pre-calculus class (which I was failing miserably). My junior year was my worst year in all my 12 grades of school. This drawing symbolizes my "Junioritis." The storm represents my finals that I would still face before the end of that year (in June) and the city out in the distance represents summer. The clear towards the end represents the light at the end of the hell that I call, my Junior Year. The exit you see to the right (Exit 255) represents a break. Speaking of Storms... Here Comes my finals! I had to take the exit to the right of the previous scene (Highway From Boredom) to brace for the violent thunderstorm. The conditions became way too dangerous to drive through. I made it out, thankfully: Elm Street; Completion date around 2013 More Art! I dubbed this one: Good After-School! (Get it? 'Cause it's the afternoon and...school..*laughs awkwardly at silence*) Completed my sophomore year of HS (Early 2012); Represents students walking home from school after dismissal. We travel back in time! Some random house I drew in 7th grade Completed in 7th grade (January 2009) This drawing symbolizes...some random house. Generic Neighborhood From Above Completed March 2010 (8th grade), note the massive wreck just by the hospital, which symbolizes the only time that I would EVER got in trouble and written up in middle school, for the most ridiculous reason ever. Hence why the hospital is right there, to symbolize the ridiculousness of the whole situation. A SPRING SERIES OF 8TH GRADE DRAWINGS Highway To High School Similar concept to "Highway from boredom," except that things are much happier Completed in April, 2010, towards the end of my 8th grade year and also the end of middle school road! The late afternoon setting symbolizes the fact that I am in my last few months of my middle school career. The storm clouds out towards the right however suggest that there are still obstacles to face before the end of my middle school career. There overpass out in the distance is the FCAT test. The rush hour traffic symbolizes all the graduates who would soon walk the stage, marching along... Now I go under the overpass from the previous drawing, symbolizing that I have passed my FCAT (2009) Same highway from above, just further along the road, and a bit later I finally reach the Cloverleaf (in the distance) Completed in late May 2010, the last full month of my 8th grade year, the traffic is heavy with graduates. The cloverleaf (it's still far, I know it's hard to see lol) symbolizes the different directions people will take in their lives from here. Some will go to other schools that are not in their zone, and others will keep going to the high school they're called for. Some friendships will end here. The late evening setting symbolizes the setting of my middle school, and the few hours left in that day, just as my days as an 8th grader, are numbered, soon to end. The highway past the clover leaf represents a new chapter in life. -------------------------------------------------------------- Fast Forward To High School Senioritropolis Completed May 2014 my Senior year of High School; Senioritropolis. What does it symbolize? Here are the pieces: Seniorit-tropol-is. You put it together, I think it speaks for itself (Still don't get it? Take "Tropol" away) SimCity 4 3D Concept Art (from 2013) More SC4 3D Concept Art Now for the Most Recent SimArt Oh yeah, and one thing I need to mention... After Playing SC4 for almost 24 hours straight, I went to go take a shower and as I looked over to the living room I saw this... Yes, if you play SC4 with the 3D Mod for too long...this happens. The bathroom is to the left, parent's bedroom to the right, the side door is right towards the end, and my front door is to the right of where the right wall ends. To the left of the left wall is the dining room, which leads to the kitchen and back door. My parents definitely not happy when they saw over 500K tiny sims blocking any way out of the house with their metropolis. Note: If you want 3D SC4 graphics, download the latest version of SC4 3D Camera mod (April Fool's Edition) Disclaimer This is known to be duly noted that I am not responsible for any power outages, crashes, the destruction of your computer, or the Sims-colonization of your living room. Please download at your own risk Before I get to my latest drawing, let us go back to 6th grade one last time (At least for this update)... Blue Republic City: Main Road North (2008) Completed in May 2008, this was my last drawing as a 6th grader. It is the same city as the first drawing in this entry. Blue republic City is a young, growing city. It is the future capital of the Blue Republic senate and Capital. (more to come in future CJ) 8 Years Later... Blue Republic City: Main Road North (2016) Yes, this is the exact same scene and angle as the previous drawing, except 8 years have passed. The buildings under construction were complete, and the AVE-4 was widened into an MAVE-6. I wanted to see how much I improved since 6th grade, so I went and re-drew one of my old middle-school drawings (kind of like re-mastering a ps1 game with modern ps4 graphics) with my modern technique. You can see the difference 8 years makes! Practice makes perfect! That's it for this update, I hope y'all enjoyed it and don't worry, there is more to come. Much more! I post a lot of my art/works in progress on Instagram too. Mods, am I allowed to post a link to my Instagram account here? Thanks!

The Frederic C. Hamilton Building holds the Modern and Contemporary art collection, along with the Architecture and Design collection, and Oceanic art collection. The unique building also serves as the main entrance to the rest of the museum complex.[8]This ambitious project doubled the size of the museum, allowing for an expansion of the art on view, inside a bold aesthetic facade. The complex deconstructivist geometric design of the Hamilton building consists 20 sloping planes, covered in 230,000 square feet of titanium shingles. The angular design juts in many directions, supported by a 2,740-ton structure that contains more than 3,100 pieces of steel. One of the angled elements extends 100 feet (30 m) over the street below. None of the 20 planes is parallel or perpendicular to another.[9] The design uses many extended angular planes to be reminiscent of the natural landscape. Similar to the peaked roof of theDenver International Airport, the Hamilton building emulates the sharp angles of the nearby Rocky Mountains, as well as the geometric crystals found at the mountains' base near Denver. Daniel Libeskind, architect of the building, said “I was inspired by the light and geology of the Rockies, but most of all by the wide-open faces of the people of Denver." The titanium panels also reflect the light of the Colorado sunshine. Context Regarding the entire design concept, Libeskind commented, “The project is not designed as a standalone building but as part of a composition of public spaces, monuments and gateways in this developing part of the city, contributing to the synergy amongst neighbors large and intimate.” Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denver_Art_Museum#Hamilton_Building This file Includes: A fuctional Museum With 11, 000 Tickets.
