  1. ~ Welcome to my thread of BAT designs for SimCity 4 ~ I have decided to start creating designs for SimCity 4 again. Sometimes the pace will be faster than others, but my plan is to do it as consistently as possible. I have a little girl who is just 3 years old, so imagine how much time she needs My plan is to recreate buildings from different places around the world and not focus on any particular style. I simply want to include all the things I would like to see in the game, even buildings that I may never use in my Japanese region. The list of possible buildings will range from Spain to the Netherlands (I have both nationalities and my roots are important in this regard ). even buildings in Japan, the United States, Germany, etc... as you can see, there is no limit, the only important detail is that they will be buildings that I like and that I am capable of making. My main goal is to give back to the community Everything I can, since I have been enjoying this game every day for over 20 years. ######################################################################## List of completed and available models: #1 - Chicago Hilton Hotel #2 - Assen ABN AMRO Bank #3 - New York One Penn Plaza #4 - A Coruña Maritime traffic control tower #5 - Osaka - Tsutenkaku tower #6 - Madrid - Torre Moeve (Work in Progress) ######################################################################## Greetings

Just wondering if by any chance it is possible to do some sort of conversion for any content from other SimCity games like Cities.
  5. Hello everyone, As someone who was first exposed to SimCity before The Sims as a child, I initially thought The Sims was a life simulation layered on top of a city management game. That early impression left me with a fascination for the potential of combining the two. Now, I’d like to suggest a hybrid concept that brings these two classic franchises together into a single game. Core Idea: Dual Gameplay Modes Switch between city-building and life simulation effortlessly. Build and manage infrastructure as the mayor while also controlling individual Sims and their personal lives within the same world. Integrated Systems City infrastructure (like water, power, and transportation) directly impacts Sims’ lives. Poor infrastructure affects their happiness, productivity, and even relationships. Sims can be subjected to water rationing or rolling blackouts in the event of inadequate infrastructure. During blackouts, lights in affected neighborhoods would go out, and Sims would be unable to use electronics like TVs or computers. Sims would receive notifications such as: "Due to inadequate power generation, please note that power will be off from 2-4pm. This may be extended depending on the shortfall." Higher crime rates due to poor city services or underfunded police can lead to Sims experiencing muggings or break-ins, further affecting their happiness and behavior. Road maintenance becomes a key factor in city management. Neglected roads develop potholes, causing Sims to experience delays and frustration, which could further lower their satisfaction with the city. Dynamic Relationships Sims retain full relationship and family dynamics, creating stories that evolve with your city. Families may move to different neighborhoods, grow, or decline based on city conditions. Sim Gameplay Intact Sims will still engage in traditional activities such as managing families, buying furniture, going to school, working, and attending university. These aspects remain intact and intertwine with the broader city simulation elements. Transport and Exploration Sims can commute using city-designed infrastructure (trains, buses, cars, etc.) and explore public spaces. Players can zoom in to experience their world in detail or watch how their decisions affect the population. Protests and Reactions If city conditions decline (e.g., underfunded schools or high taxes), Sims can revolt, refuse to pay taxes, or even leave the city. This feedback loop ties personal and civic management tightly together. Open or Semi-Open World The game would feature an open or semi-open world where Sims can move freely within the city. This would allow for a seamless experience, whether players are managing the city or stepping into the lives of individual Sims. Why This Idea Stands Out: This game bridges macro-level city planning with micro-level life simulation, creating a dynamic, living world where every decision has consequences. Players can see the direct impact of their city-building decisions on individual lives while also managing the ripple effects of Sims’ actions on the city. A Note on My Experience: I’ll admit that I don’t have much experience with modding or game development, and I don’t have the stomach to even attempt this myself. I just love the idea and wanted to share it with this community in case it resonates with others who might have the skills or connections to bring it to life.

  7. So I own a copy of Streets of SimCity It has 53 SC2 cities included in the game, I know you can import SC2 cities into "streets", but not quite sure if its possible to load a "street" city into SC2, in case it is am attaching a zip file into this post .... I make no guarantee that these cities will work in SC2 or even look ok if you can upload them Streets of SImCity.7z

Blank maps - These cities provide bare landscapes just waiting to be developed. For cities with high starting funds, you must load them directly into the simulator and not into the terrain editor if you wish to keep the funds. Sectioned grid - A flat cityscape with marked 16x16 sections, perfect for building real cities to scale. Contributed by Glenn Jones. Flatland - A bare, flat city with over $2 billion in the bank. Year is 2050. Treeland - A flat city covered with trees, has over $2 billion in the bank. Trees can help raise land values during the growth process. Year is 2050. City kits - These files contain both cities and SCURK graphics to accompany them. What results is a more personalized city. For example, if you load New York City with its respective tileset, you'll actually see the Statue of Liberty and World Trade Center where they're supposed to be. Special note: the tilesets in the following files are for Windows users only (with the exception of Sanfrancisco). DOS users can still load all the cities. Windows users can easily load the tilesets from within SimCity 2000 using either the startup screen or the file menu. Amarneck - A whole new tileset brings this Vienna-like city to life. A very unique city with great graphics. Contributed by Benjamin S. Kim. Beach - Give your sims a place to sunbathe and build sand castles. With the tileset, you can finally see white sand in SimCity 2000! Contributed by Hisss. Daytona Beach - A nice collection of tall buildings make this city look quite attractive. Not sure if it's a replica of the real daytona beach or not, but it's still pretty cool. Unknown contributor. Dechado - Fictitious democratic city in SE Cuba. Highways, wide boulevards, tourist attractions, and plentiful trees and water make this a neat city to visit. And the tileset adds a personal flavor. Contributed by Charlie Stevens. Duluth - This is as close to visiting Duluth, MN, as you will get outside of being there physically. The tileset adds a truly Duluth flavor. Contributed by John Wolhaupter. New Palanthus - This city, along with it's unique blend of SCURK graphics, provides for a pleasant looking place to live. Contributed by Chris Jones. New York - The Big Apple comes to your computer screen with several real buildings from New York, including the Woolworth building, Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty. So realistic you can smell the smog. Contributed by mce1123@montereybay.com. San Franciso - The bay city comes to life in SimCity 2000, complete with the Transamerica Pyramid, numerous specialized buildings, and an authentic layout. Contributed by Francisca Akhidenor. St. Armond - The city starts with towering skyscrapers clustered in a central business district, and then sprawls out into subdivisions and office parks. This gives it the realism and variety of an actual metropolis. The tileset changes the trees to fall colors, and has a few new and altered buldings as well. Contributed by Jeff Zavadil. Stadium - This city is actually a huge stadium! Complete with bleachers, foul poles, bases, and flags when used with the tileset. Truly amazing. Contributed by Tim Ericson.

  15. Hello Simtropolis, This thread is for showcasing cities and regions on the SimCity 4 Multiplayer Project (SC4MP) network. Visit the website at www.sc4mp.org or see the forum post for more information. -------------------------------------------------------- I'll start with my humble city of Belgrade (not Serbia), that you can find on the "MEGAREGION" server: Strange nonstandard interchange: Downtown: Suburbs: University of Belgrade: Highway curve:

  17. I am an old age pensioner who has been playing SimCity 4 Deluxe, the game I have been building for 2 years simply disapeared off my computer yesterday. I have tried to contact Steam Support but they can't help me get my game back, can someone help. If any of you have spent 2 years building multiple cities you will know how upset I am to lose it all. All I need is some one to help me get my game back and or tell me who to contact, I have tried Steam but all I got was gobbbly gook instructions which did not work. Can someone please help me, this is way to complicated for me. I paid for a game I cant use.
  18. I was puzzled by how the city builder game looks in the eyes of other people and the entire simtropolis community. Please take this survey in google forms so that people have a clear vision of what the community wants from current and future projects in this genre. I will publish the results later. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf90DCopvNhGPzVG6_c1XHW8Uhz-16zizU8TSaUp0-jtJV3xA/viewform?usp=sf_link
  19. So, I know there is a cheat in SC4 for renaming cities (whereufrom <cityname>, if the city name has spaces, you need to use quotes ") When I use this cheat and press enter, nothing happens. The city still has its original name, and the cheat box doesn't close. Also, when I save and go to the region, the city name is still the same! Any ideas on fixing this?
  20. Modular International Airports Modular Golf Courses Wilderness Parks Cultural Centers Theme Parks Campgrounds Suburban Subdivision Sprawl High Tech Industrial Campuses Freeway Adjacent Warehouses Multi-Modal Transit Hubs Naval Yards These are just a few of the unique additions made to my SC4 cities and regions. Most are largely due to the excellent content so graciously shared on this site. But I feel like I'm missing something important. There is some element of world simulation that I'm not adding in, and I cannot put my finger on it. I suppose it could be that I just grow bored of creating another neighborhood or routing another monorail line...but in the past I have always discovered something here that had me racing back to each city to find a way to squeeze in a new nightlife district or a new sports venue, etc. I almost miss the days long ago when i just went Skyscraper hunting...simpler times...simpler tastes. ------------ What am I forgetting? What have you done lately to enliven your cities? Thanks for your input...
  21. Hello there SimCity 4 community, over the pandemic, I decided to build a large mega city on a new downloaded region called Vancouver. After about 3 months, and 100 hours of gameplay, the city was nearly complete! It had 700000 people, large skyscrapers and 3 other neighboring cities, and a couple of custom interchanges. I also had a lot of mods mostly without dependencies, NAM, Tried CAM (didnt work idk). About 2 weeks ago, I downloaded another BAT, and opened the game. But I mysterioly found that the Vancouver region was missing, even more strangely, the game had been reset back to its vanilla mode... No mods, No custom Region, no mega city, only tutorial ones. I searched my game files, to find everything was still there including the region, with the cities. But they were not loading in the game? I heard that this could be due to a id conflict, but I moved my game files to the steam games file, and the original one, but still nothing has worked. I deleted some of the mods that were not yet loaded into the city, and still nothing came. Are my cities of 7 hundred thousand, and the only thing that kept me sane during the lockdown, lost forever?
  22. I found this photo on the internet, what must i do to see my regions like that (with buildings etc) ? When i start SC4 i don't see it, i see the regions normal with the roads, rails in blue/red colors (just like a legend map)
  23. I have to admit that I haven't accomplished much in SC4 yet. So far, I have only developed 11 tiles (4 of which were in San Francisco) and had barely any plan in my mind when building them up. I mean, sure, central square, shops, NIMBY but that's it. This time, I'd like to try something different. I'd like to build some of my cities according to a proper plan. This is why I would like to ask you for your comments and invite you to make ammendments and suggestions to my newest city plan which you can find attached below. There are many players who are more experienced than I am, so it will be very nice to hear your opinions on the matter. It will be a form of public consultations. Consider my plan below for a new municipality of, oh let's call it, city "E". Generally speaking, it will be a coastal city with a seaport, some industry and (demand willing) commercial offices. A few words of explanation... The jerky line is the approximate area of the city. The upper half of the page is a blank sketch which you can use to draft and share your own plan for city "E" if you like. The "C" districts are just some sort of commercial development. I have no particular preference which type will it be - just some sort of business. "P" stands for seaports of course. I'm somewhat undecided as to the placement of R$$ zones. Perhaps they should be more condensed, (like the R$ and R$$$ zones) to create a better sense of community between the residents. Please note that the plan does not contain any civic buildings or parks but of course they will be taken into account. I just did not want to clutter the drawing too much. Of course, I do plan to put them in later - once I find out where they can do the most good. Hmm, is there anything else that needs to be explained... I guess not. Now I'll leave it up to you. You are kindly invited to revise, redraw and review my plan. If you prefer to just leave a comment instead of sketching, that's absolutely fine as well. I am eager to see where will this discussion take us.
  24. TMC's "Which city is it?" thread

I love traveling. It is actually a large part of my work. This weekend I made the first, small, private, post-covid travel and I loved it. It is great to see the world slowly opening up to us. As tourism starts to slowly resume, I would like to suggest a new megathread where all of the peeps (me included ) can post pictures of the towns and cities they have visited (I don't think anything like that exists yet?). But! There is a catch - you need to guess which town or city is it! Below, find the first photo-riddle that I have for you. This is the place where I spent this weekend. Do you know which city is it? Hint 1: It is located in Poland in the Masovian region. Your answer is...?
  25. Using downloaded regions

I have seen downloadable regions on the STEX not sure about the LEX can those regions be terraformed once they are in the game?
