  1. # Hello; - My name is Jonathan, and today I want to present you my biggest SimCity project. I have this project on my head since I started to play SimCity, even I started this project during the 2006 but I had to leave it because I couldn't get the result that I did want. I am a perfectionist and wanted to do the best New York in SimCity but I did not have the necessary knowledge level. During all these years I've been playing SimCity and trying to make better every single part of the game, more realistic and more visual, almost like a real city. Somebody maybe can remember my recreation of Berlin, or all my Japanese cities, even my first recreation Hong Kong, it had been quite successful here in simtropolis...during these last two years I have been working on my best project called "Windows on the World" with this project, I try to make real or imaginary places around the world and now it's turn to New York city. Now I have everything that I need to make the best recreation of this city, also I have a lot of new ideas to make this Recreation even more special, I just need all your support and all your advices to make this recreation even better. - I decided start here this project because I am another NYBT member since it was created, and one of my main goals was to make this, a large window to show all the buildings created by my team mates. I just hope you can enjoy with this project, I just want to show New York city, my favorite city in the world, one of my dreams since I was a child and the main reason I started to play SimCity 4. ##################################################################### # In this topic we will see the current progress of the recreation. This will be a very slow recreation because I have to create and plop every single building, park or road and I spent a lot of time making the lots and even sometimes I need to create some little models on 3ds max, so for that reason please be patient, the result will be better and much realistic. I will try to update with every new picture what I have on my hands and when the city is large and it is evolved I will do major updates showing one by one the most famous and important points of the city, even I'm thinking of creating a youtube channel to make the city more real, let's see what happen in the future with this. # Well I think that's all for the presentation of the project, so I hope you support me and together we can make the most realistic New York city recreation, Thank you so much and Greetings ##################################################################### || Welcome to - Recreating New York city by Kelistmac ||

Designed by Helpern Architects and constructed in 1989, it's acknowledged as Manhattan finest boutique office building. 1095 Avenue Of The Americas is a 630 ft (192m) tall skyscraper in New York City, New York. It was constructed from 1972 to 1974 as headquarters of New York Telephone and has 41 floors. The building also served as the headquarters of NYNEX and Bell Atlantic. Kahn & Jacobs designed the building, which is the 61st tallest in New York. The original facade was said to be designed to resemble the relays which were commonly found inside telephones of the time. From 2006 to 2007 the tower received a $260 million renovation which upgraded the office space from Class B+ to Class A office space.[citation needed] The phone company moved its headquarters to the Verizon Building in the early 2000s, and sold off most of the building, retaining a condominium interest in floors 6-12, where Verizon maintained offices and a telephone exchange serving landlines in Midtown Manhattan. However, in 2013 the company moved its corporate headquarters back to 1095 Avenue of the Americas, following a sale of the upper floors of the Verizon Building. Is a Landmark version MN.

750 Seventh Avenue 750 Seventh Avenue is a 615 ft (187m) tall skyscraper in New York City. It was completed in 1989 and has 36 floors. Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo & Associate designed the building, and it is owned by Hines,[1] a Texas based real estate investment company.[2] The building's continuous helix design, culminating in a chimney-like extension, was caused by the New York City Building Code, which requires setbacks. The 84 exterior column transfers exist because of the owner's requirement for a column-free space. It is tied with the New York Life Building for the 74th tallest building in New York City. In April 2011 Fosterlane Management from Kuwait announced they are buying the building from Hines for $485 million Landmark version. Hope you like it and be better than my previous buildings. ESP15. The six-story base of the headquarters building was commissioned by the founder, William Randolph Hearst, and awarded to the architect Joseph Urban. The building was completed in 1928[3] at a cost of $2 million and contained 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2). The original cast stone facade has been preserved in the new design as a designated Landmark site. 120 Wall Street is a skyscraper in Wall Street, New York City, Unite States which was completed in 1930.The building is 399 ft (122 m) tall, has 34 floors, and is located along Wall Street, Pine Street and South Street. This is a version modeled in order to increase the amount of buildings available to build a region based on the New York architecture, starting by my perspective of this skyscraper. I modeled based on the plant view of the structure and it is not completely rectangular, actually i worked it in order to find a balance between a simcity version and the real one, that is why the right upper corner is out of the lot. I has thinking in recreate this block (hey, just thinking) of Manhattan with 120, 110 and 129 Wall Street as a long-term project. Down i give you the plant view that i used. Goods! It's 4:00 AM, and I, very vicious with this, my first 3D model of my life. Believe me (or I believe), I never thought I could do this, because my pc is oldStart with this 3 days ago. First, it was learning how to $%&^! how to make a simple box! Then, with some ingenuity, I could start to shape it. When I saw this walking, start all over again, trying to be as orderly as possible, and there it goes. I plan to do everything in the flat and then give it height, build the sides (which I have seen are very detailed). Aaaaa the textures... the UV Mapper, all these thing drives me carzy.. And well. Nothing. Jajaja. In the end I will need some modeler with a powerful computer so that it can render as many polygons, if someone offers, enchanted (? Ah, y maeby tomorrow post a new entry about Battery Park City, now that I know modeler, umm Bye Bye!

  14. Goodbye Hells Kitchen....Hello Manhattan!

Welcome to New York...a City Journal by Hotwheeler It seems like an awfully long Time has passed since we stranded in Hells Kitchen. Sure,we visited Lincoln Square and the famous Lincoln Center of Modern Arts, sniffed a Breeze of fresh Air when standing on the old Aircraft Carrier which is now a famous Air and Spacecraft Museum and even tried everything the Kitchens and Diners in Hells Kitchen have to offer. But still...there is something i miss.I need to travel..Besides that,Development didn`t stop at the Boundaries of Hells Kitchen.Sure,it took some time, but now it is slowly infiltrating the outer boundaries and inner Blocks of this Fortress of dirty Theaters,Garages,Tyre Dealers and Furniture Warehouses. Besides that,it seems that i have to go anyway.A greedy Real Estate Guy and an Architect without any signs of Taste or common sense bought a large bundle of Land. The Tiny Apartmentbuilding i`m living in will be razed soon, the neighboring Building already met the Wrecking Ball... Damn,i enjoyed that little Bar across the Street and the Deli next Door. I think it`s time to move on.I had a great Time in Hells Kitchen and made a lot of nice Pictures for you... The Area around the Croation Church is also under heavy Development.Massive Condos and Office Buildings everywhere, slowly suppressing the historic Building Stock. a The American Museum of Natural History looks sort of mysterious at Night... The West 79th Street heading towards the Henry Hudson Parkway... A Bunch of old Shops in Amsterdam Avenue... Development doesn`t sleep,Okay maybe at Night... Once the Place of a bunch of lovely Shops and now a building Ground... The Holy Cross Church next to a bunch of old Rowhouses in West 42nd Street.. More Room to build more unaffordable Condos...this Time near the Croatan Church... And down the Drains we go... Gas Stations, the perfect Victims for Real Estate Development. No one is driving a Car in NYC,right? An empty Lot next to the Broadway? You can have it....for 10.000.000 $$$ The New York Historic Society... Everyone loves Sightseing Tours...especially at Night in a Helicopter... One Worldwide Plaza at Night... And a bunch of Rowhouses in OWP`s Shadow... Livin`in the PJ`s next to Lincoln Square... Two affordable Housing Towers between W 73th and W 74th Street at Westend Avenue I hope you liked our little Tour through Hells Kitchen and the neighboring Blocks. Let`s see where we will met next Time.Maybe Garment District or Upper West Side...we will see.

  17. Manhattan on development

Alright guys... long time no see... Well, to be honest, I had some time this last month to play simcity, it wasnt much, but I took advantage of those little moments I had. I know, its been too long, and its ok for you guys to think this was done, but Im here to prove you wrong. I remember on the last update's comments, people were eager to see development, and I remember I did post some testing. So before I give you the pics (10+) I will tell you the things I had to do in order to show you what I currently have. Even before so, I want to tell you guys, that Im not gonna do a reply section yet, cause I think I did a little one last update, and to be honest, Im considering this as a new start (development wise). Im still working on the street layout, still working on every detail to get as much as i can. So, now that we have that out of the way, there are a couple things you should know: 1) Every building in here was zoned, I dont like plopping, except for buildings that really are iconic (landmarks) or buildings that need to be somewhere and I cant make them grow. If thats not the case, I like growing things because... 2) I spent a lot of time seeing google earth, google maps, and every possible map to make sure that I zone everything according to the real manhattan. To be honest, this is the reason why it took so long, cause I made sure to zone according to the real city. Of course, I did download a variety of buildings to make sure I had the things I needed to grow, and to make sure zoning that way would make sense. So everything you see is basically the real Manhattan. There are some buildings that grew in the right place, but are not exactly the same as real life, of course that is, because of simcity 4 limitations, and because there arent enought models in the stex 3) I gotta thank a million this person... AARON GRAHAM! without you, this wouldnt be possible... variations, models... everything is on you buddy! 4) There are gonna be some blanks in the pics. Those spaces are reserved for buildings, schools, police stations, etc.. basically anything that needs to be plopped so its being reserved for when I get to it... probably not in the next update, but the following to that. Now, without any further... I give you the pics, and I really hope you enjoy... it would crazy to see LOTS OF PEOPLE for this update, since as I said before, I consider it special... West side overview... Notice, some buildings are gonna change.. since this pic was taken 2 days ago... Closeup on the area... Now, notice on this pic and the one above... central park is empty... to be honest, I really prefer to see some development, and then work on the park... plus, the west side wasnt suppose to develop, but I guess is good to see some development in here too... This is how it looks now... some rezoning... west side... 75th... As you can see... low rises, more like w2w homes... just like the real one... NEXT!! Overview on the east side development... notice the blank spots are reserved... and there is a block I have to de-zone to make room for a school... sorry for that guys... Now, as you can see.. there are some streets... that is because... Im testing LOOKS VS ONE WAY FUNCTIONALITY... streets give me that look full of trees between buildings... so I guess Im gonna keep it up with streets... of course NAM is running on EXTRA SUPER HIGH.. so streets can handle traffic really well... its a shame there arent one way streets... that would be so cool... or make one way roads have a street texture... anyways.. moving on... A comparison between the 2 sides... you can clearly see the difference between east an west side... just like in real life.. the east is more developed in terms of height... sorry Im missing the central park buildings on the west... Im working step by step... 5th Avenue's buildings... these grew just fantastic... they resemble the real 5th avenue really really good... really proud of how those buildings popped up.. Now, Im gonna leave you with some closeups... of 3rd... 2nd... just a mix... enjoy... Well... thats it for today... I really hope you enjoy... IM REALLY SORRY FOR DILAPIDATION... there isnt enough people... diserability on those buildings was low... so they kinda took off... but those are landmarks.. so they had to be plopped... I guess I will plop them again once I have enough people to support them... Anyways... thank you guys for stopping by... hope you enjoy the update... LOVING NEW YORK!! how about you people???

Apple Store Fifth Avenue (Fully Mac Compatible) (Maxis Night and DarkNite) This is Apple's Flagship store on 5th Ave in Manhattan, New York. This model is the current look of the building, as it was renovated in late 2011 to reduce the number of glass panels. Through the glass box you can see the spiral stair case, the glass and aluminium elevator and of course, the famous illuminated apple logo. This is a standalone lot, and can be placed anywhere in your city. It could be used as a lone park, a buildings forecourt, or where ever you see fit. This lot also includes the ponds, a green row of trees, and the seats and tables that occupy the outside space. All of these have been rendered in HD to show the all the details that were included in the model. Its a 4x2 lot, which comes in either Maxis Night or Dark Nite, chose which one you want as you download. The lots base textures fit better with the medium wealth sidewalk textures, but the buildings purpose fits better in high wealth, so there is an option to also download a medium wealth lot if you want the sidewalk textures to match the lot textures. It provides 335 jobs in either CS$$$ or CS$$ (if you choose) and produces none to low amounts of pollution. Its a functional landmark, so you will find it in the landmarks listings. Its also Fully Mac Compatible, which means all nightlighting will work on macs as well as on PC. Dependencies, There are none, everything is custom made. I have plans to release more apple stores, as it is a section that is missing in the STEX. Until then, Hope you enjoy Apple's Flagship Store

Would you be able to help us catch up after a bit of a shortfall?

We had a small shortfall last month. Your donation today would help us catch up for this month.

Make a Donation, Get a Gift!

We need to continue to raise enough money each month to pay for expenses which includes hardware, bandwidth, software licenses, support licenses and other necessary 3rd party costs.

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!
