Hey Its been a while. Some of you might remember me from years ago, but I see tons of new faces in the community. It feels nice to be playing this game again, and to see the plethora of new mods I missed while I was away. I started SC4 back up a few months ago and after playing for a few months Im in a place where im content starting another CJ to show off the region I've been working on. Its not too special, Im trying to keep it simple especially regarding mods. There are many regions like it but this one is mine. Its a big region and there's plenty to show off. I am also playing the game. Theres eyecandy obviously but for most updates I will not be getting carried away with photoshop and flora like I used to. Zots and zones may be visible and abandoned buildings stay in screenshots because not all places are great to live in Monterey. Basically how Ill go about this cj is Ill show you random areas or areas Im developing, and if anything looks interesting to anyone I can make an update on a specific area if anyone asks. Anyways; Welcome to Monterey Bay. Somewhere on the west coast of North America this bay was originally home to many farming, logging, and mining communities constructed by an influx of pioneers into the region mostly in the late 1800's. There was some oil, some gold, but the region remained relatively dry during the gold then oil rush days which explains its quiet valleys and low population. Other industries in the area include fishing, limestone, cattle ranching in the low open plains, limestone quarries, as well as a handful of lead and silver mines. While not the largest urban areas on the west coast Monterey County has made a name for itself as being a beautiful retreat destination in the 1900's. Its beaches aren't as pristine as those further south and its not as we as areas further north, but the snow-capped peaks that shine on the various towns in this community remain white for 10 months of the year. The Summers are mild, the spring and fall cool, and the pacific winds help keep the lowlands free from snowfall until you reach the highlands miles inland. First lets visit the seat of the county which shares the same name of Monterey Monterey started as a humble farming community but grew fast. Around the early 1900's everything slowed down as people didnt realize there was much gold in these hills, but it still was a destination many settlers and immigrants ended their long journeys at. The Warf-on-the-River was the central point of the city. Fishermen all around the bay would come right here to sell their catch daily for anyone who managed to earn some meager money by farming or ranching in the valley. At the same time a grand city hall was constructed. It was for a time that Monterey was being considered as the new state capitol, but many long debates and votes and ravings landed that to a more central area further south and inland. While its arguable less bureaucrats and politicians are good for a city, Monterey and the greater bay area didnt need all that to grow into a prospering region. The city grew fast. The industrial revolution passed. Mass transit moved more people around than ever, and more and more people moved to Monterey in the waning days of the oil booms. By the 1950's Monterey cemented itself as 'The' city of the bay area. Despite having lower population than the Tri-Cities, as the locals call them, on the peninsula to the southeast, Monterey developed with people in mind and had better planning and mass-transit than the Tri-Cities as you will be shown in later entries. The city grew and grew. The rich moved in And the poor moved in. They started building up. The Warf-on-the-River is still here Overall Monterey started and exists today as most other cities. It was never a boom town, was never an industrial centerfold, and never even had much interest militarily over WW2. It does have a small air force and military base being a metropolitan area on the west coast, but the Monterey Bay area remains for now just a fertile scenic valley, with nothing too special going on. Until next time!

I've started a city based off an online tutorial, and it involves boats. I cannot, for the world, find a place that will hold my docks. I've gone through every single tile on every single waterfront. The notification thing says to find a place where the footprint turns blue, but there isn't. No further instructions were given. It's on a bay/lake/river, and I can't get screenshots because reasons. Suggestions?

This is the default Maxisland Region scaled up 2x. This was originally reversed via the SC4Mapper by exporting the file image, and then doubling the image size to achieve a bigger region. The doubled size allows for considerably bigger cities and more development within the same region as before. So, for those wishing to have more room in the original region, this one's for you. An unfortunate side effect to the doubling, however, is that the hills and mountains become stretched out, and thus a bit smoother overall. This may annoy some, as you might like having the really tall mountains, but, may make others happy. Sadly, I'm not so skilled in terrain/heightmap editing to be able to correct this for you, but, do feel free to adjust it to your heart's content. Included, you will find: -config 1.bmp (classic Maxisland layout) -config 2.bmp ("hex" grid) -a pre-rendered image -Maxis Bay.png (16 bit png) -region.ini Select which configuration image you wish to use, and edit it to: config.bmp Use SC4Mapper, then select 'Create Region', then click on '16 bit png' After, hit the '...' next to 'Filename', and search for the image. This should load up the greyscale image. It's best if you keep this in an easy to access folder, such as your Downloads, or Region folder. Then, select 'Config.bmp' and click on the '...' button, to grab the appropriate configuration file. If you don't wish to use either of these files, then leave it on default, and you can modify the map to however you'd like. May you grow bountiful cities of your dreams, and be a prosperous mayor! -
From the album Twin Sisters
The eastern half of the Little Sister is the fertile heartland of the archipelago. For centuries the heart of the island's religion, the city of Motherstone has grown from a ritual center to a thriving metropolis and the most populous city on the island chain. Legends tell of the mystical powers lurking hidden in the foothills, now disturbed by the expanding suburban sprawl. Their influence will guide the growth of the city and the islands, for better or for worse. -
From the album Twin Sisters
The Little Sister is split by the Whytewater Run, a saltwater inland channel which cuts the island in half. Despite being over five miles wide at its widest, the depth never goes beyond twenty feet, making it impassible for most shipping, thus limiting its usefulness to smaller watercraft. Small villages dot the coastline until the run finally deepens to a navigable depth at the mouth of Cranburrow. -
From the album Twin Sisters
An old whaling station nestled into the northern range of the Motherstone Mountains. The first undersea telegraph cable to the Sisters came ashore here; Ever since, an information technology industry has thrived here. -

My first ever upload and my first made map. Named after where I live. The region has been made from scratch and does not exist in the real world The map is all large tile format and measures 6 x 5 tile. You should just be able to extract and copy the folder called "Ballina Bay" into your SimCity4 Region Folder and follow the instructions from there. Follow the instructions on this link to install if you are new to adding maps. LOL hope it works. -

Hello there! Sick of gigantic regions spanning the entirety of a country that you know you'd never be able to fill? Sick of having your people live in hills and mountains steep enough to make Macchu Picchu residents go "Blimey!"? Would you like to try a smaller, more level, more balanced region you KNOW you can fill? Well then, please do take a look at the bay of Svara! Featuring plenty of level, pre-terraformed, open spaces for your very own little São Paulo, New York or Kuala Lumpur, two rivers, a beautiful mountainside lake, three peaks and rolling hills limiting the fair-sized 4X4 (large city) coastal region! I made this region with the thought of subdividing it into 4 "subregions", to give the appearance of truly different and unique cities, divided by water or land. And of course, if you so desire, and I actually recommend, customize it to your heart's content! Svara's a free land after all, so terraform away anything you don't like! Made by generating a random region with the wonderful Landscape Designer tool, and hand-terraforming it using the in-game editor to something more coherent. It's also my first map ever map (and indeed, upload to Simtropolis), so please, feedback is greatly appreciated -

345 California Center is a 48-story office tower in the financial district of San Francisco, California. Completed in 1986, the 211.8 m (695 ft) tower is the third-tallest in the city after the Transamerica Pyramid and 555 California Street if the spires are included. It was originally proposed to be 30 m (98 ft) taller. 345 California is in the middle of a block with historic buildings on each of the four corners. Initially planned as condominiums, the top 11 floors of the building are the Loews Regency San Francisco hotel, located in twin towers set at 45-degree angles to the rest of the building. Several glass skybridges offer views of the San Francisco Bay Area. The Loews Regency has the street address 222 Sansome, with a different entrance. So guys I have a few more pics of San Francisco to show you... First the Marina and Cruise Ship Terminal which offers cruises up and down the western seaboard and to Alaska... Next we have our beautiful Bay Bridge, which takes you from downtown San Francisco across the Embarcadaro and the bay over to Oakland... Safe guarding our city from foreign invaders or just keeping a watchful eye on our citizens who traverse the bay area is our wonderful U.S. Navy and the local coast guard... Lastly we have the Coit Tower near the San Francisco side of the Golden Gate Bridge... Now as you can see the city has a long ways to go before completion; however, in the next update you will see downtown San Francisco...

From the album City Overview (S3-13-W)
This is an overview about the province of Friganium (Republic of Calidores, my MD over at the LEX which unfortunately has to be discontinued due to savegame corruption). A few small villages which mostly live from tourism visiting the old village centers, the beaches, the hiking paths, and the cultural attractions in one of the villages. -
From the album Bridge Bonanza (S3-07-W)
One of the large bridges that connect to Downtown Plantation Bay's downtown city core. Plantation Bay is one of the White Republic's biggest regions, with a population of over 30 million people. This is Alwakiee Metropolis, a center of commerce, with a residential population of nearly 700,000. (Yes, in a 4x4 km area!). -

Introduction: Geography, Geology, and City Environs
fuzion051 posted a City Journal entry in Gastaram City (Cities: Skylines)
Quick Introduction: Gastaram is a major city within the nation of Teodoros. With its deeply rooted Spanish influence throughout its history, the city at present is a metropolis combining a bit of the old and a lot of the new. The city is nestled in an enclosed estuary along the Gastaram bai, a perfect haven for docking vessels and sea traders during its early days. Geography and Geology: Before we go around the city let me discuss a bit regarding its topographic setting. The geography around Gastaram undoubtedly forms a dramatic background against the modern skyline of the present city. The region is comprised of northwest-southeast trending mountain ridges bounding a shallow estuary onto which three major rivers (Languine, Oltrano, and Gastaram) drain. *upper left label: Languine river; upper right label: Oltrano river; lower label: Gastaram river; left label: Estuario Gastaram The mountain ridges are mainly composed of diorite (an igneous rock) thus profoundly influencing the weathering of these ridges, which often show smooth rolling slopes. Upstream of the Languine river, the Languine Canyon incised deeply on the ridge with steeply dipping slopes on both sides. The NW-SE trending of the ridges is mainly influenced by faults, also trending NW-SE. In fact, The Languine and Gastaram rivers are influenced by the Gastaram Fault, an active fault known to have generated major earthquakes in the past. That's it for a quick overview of the topographic setting of the city of Gastaram. I'll be presenting the city itself on my next journal entry but for now I'll leave you with a few peeks of the city itself.-

I (Kellydale2003) present to you Bay Adelaide Street West! HISTORY Bay Adelaide Centre West is a real life 51-story tower in Toronto, Ontario. Located at 333 Bay Street, the 218M skyscraper was completed in 2009 and is located in the heart of Canada's largest financial district. With preserving heritage an important part of Toronto, the developers of Bay Adelaide Centre preserved the historical corner building by building over it whilst maintaining the facade of the building - with some restoration help, of course. This is also a very unique building due to its revolutionary night lighting. Using photometric realistic lighting combined with strategically placed bump maps, the illusion of realism is created. The total project rendering time for day and night is 332 hours (almost like the real life address - 333 Bay Street). This is the largest building ever exported using this revolutionary and high-memory-intensive technique. DEPENDENCIES NEEDED .... JUST KIDDING! ONLY DARKNIGHT IS INCLUDED! Unfortunately, due to high rendering times, the dark night version can only be exported. If you do not have Simfox's DarkNight Mod, download it (link is in the read me of this file). Support my thread by leaving a comment! Enjoy! , Kellydale2003 -

We're going old school, folks . This mod allows you to plop the large ambulance bay from the hospital as a module for the clinic. It will plop on the road as the clinic ambulance bay already does. I may create a video for this mod, although I don't know if it will be necessary. How to install: 1. Unzip the file after downloading. 2. Copy and paste the .package file into C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games/SimCity/SimCityData. Special thanks to: - Johnathan_Tycoon: for helping me make the mod. -
Hello Simmers I am currently using the NHP Jacksonville Metro region, which happens to be a "monstrous" region that allows for great seaport potential and river traffic. I would like to create some canal networks for recreational and industrial purposes. I have several canal "mods" and prefer SG's designs because of it's water textures. However, where do I find canal connections to a river or a bay? I have not seen anything that will allow for this. Are there any suggestions of terrain editors that could "fake" these connections? The residents here like to party sometimes and take their fishing boats, pleasure boats and yachts out on the river or even to the wide-open ocean. Manufacturers need to ship their exports via cargo ship to other destinations and need an outlet. Please help. Thanks, BTS_SC4 (City Boss)

Calidore (pronounced CAL-i-DOR-ay) is a map I made for my new steampunk-themed Mayor Diary over at SC4D, but I figured somebody else might like to make use of it. The region is hand-drawn and imported into the Terraformer for finalizing. It's a very cramped cozy little region featuring mountains, rivers, a bay, islands for a downtown area, a decent amount of flat(ish) space to build, and lots of little details. Map size is 4x3 large city tiles, or 16x12 small tiles. An optional config.bmp is included for you to use at your pleasure. In-game screenshot was taken using the Columbus Terrain Mod (snowcapped peaks version), 3RR Gray Granite rock mod, PEG Brigantine water mod, and the Diagonal Jagged Edges mod (reduces the minimum slope for a cliff, so you won't see as much gray if you don't have it installed). As with most maps, this requires the SC4Terraformer. Enjoy! Feedback is always welcome. -

Maxisland 2.0 aka Santa Bella Ever wanted to play the Maxisland region but found it too small or too lumpy for your terrain mod? Ever wish that the city tiles had been optimized for bridge building? Presenting Maxisland 2.0. This expanded version of the original map fixes many of the problems with the original Maxisland. Several passes through SC4Terraformer's height compressor have leveled out the plains to where even the strictest of slope mods won't complain. The city tiles have been optimized for bridge building, and the region is now 32x32 instead of a cramped 16x16. The terrain has also been run through a couple of erosion cycles to add some realism. I want to make clear that this is not a very original map. This is simply an altered version of Maxisland. I am releasing this based on feedback from readers of my City Journal. Feel free to make further modifications as you see fit. All credit for this map goes to Maxis and the SC4Terraformer. Enjoy. -
Starting out, Brentsville was a small city with an optimistic future. The city by the bay is attracting many people to leave the nearby cities. An undeveloped waterfront poised many questions for the city council members. How would the city develop the waterfront safely without harming the surrounding bay? The booming downtown business sector provided many jobs during tough economic times in surrounding cities. Current population: 6,500 Downtown Brentsville is booming with jobs with some residential districts to the north and west. This is the financial district surrounded by the canals and bay. Easy Access to I-5 takes you to the surounding cities. Here is the busiest intersection in the city.

#5 - Med Inspirations - Coos Bay - Presentation
OlScare / Benoit posted a City Journal entry in Med Inspirations
Thanks a lot for the comments, replies in the previous update ! Here we are, this is the presentation of my new project ! It's been quite some times now that I work on random tiles, and you don't want to know how my region looks like, from Chiesa Nuova, to Daventry Town, including Amazraou, French Riviera, urban and rural scenes, Oglio river etc... Yes, this is a big mess ! I miss working on a region, with a global layout, region views etc... So the project is quite simple, to make a nice region ! You know me, this is not gonna be mass zoning. I want a detailed and functional region ! About the style, It's gonna be close from what you saw in Daventry Town. Some Euro-American mix. I'll work on Coos Bay from Izidor, and I'll keep the name cause I love it. That being said, I'm not gonna reprduce at all the real Coos Bay in Oregon ! I'll use Lowkee's terrain mod and Gobias new beaches. 1 - SC4 Terraformer render of the region. 2 - Here is the map, the way I want to work on the region, with the limits of SC4 in mind. Of curse I'm just starting so this is gonna evolve. Feel free to give me advices about that ! 3 - Here is a teaser ! Yes I started with the CBD, just to work on the layout, terraforming, marina and some plopped buildings. I'll now work on the surroundings to make sure I have a big demand when I'll be back to work on the CBD. 4 5 6 7 8 9 See you soon !
