  5. Cape Disappointment, Washington

    Version 1.0.1

    172 Downloads

Cape Disappointment, Ilwaco, and Long Beach WA from terrain party GPS map(18km, 1:1 scale). Scenic ocean side city space. Cape Disappointment(red lighthouse rock outcrop) is famous as the Lewis and Clark expedition's winter camp. They tried to flag down passing merchant ships to give them a copy of Lewis's expedition journals(in case they died on the way back). This was unsuccessful and thus he named it Cape Disappointment. Map includes two lighthouses, two rocky jetties, a man made dock/bay area, and WW2 era artillery forts(near the mouth of the Columbia River). Abundant in all in game resources. Ore is found in the mountains, oil in the midlands, and fertile farmland near the river flood planes and flats. Hand modeled beach sloped correctly(no steep cliff drops), abundant in driftwood, broken trees, animal spawns, and scenic rocks. Multiple real world rivers, streams, and lakes modeled with water props. Water props placed so that ocean currents do not flow into inland rivers on the ocean facing south(you can dump waste into the ocean without it coming back into the rivers), but the northern deltas are filled by some ocean water. Highway 101 mapped out accurately(connections in the north and southeast). IRL non-existent railroad placed along southern portion of Highway 101, on eastern tiles, and down from the northern peninsula. Railway connections can be accessed by buying some of the 25 tiles(the tile just north of start location has two rail connections). Start location is the city of Ilwaco, with a man made bay area.
  6. It's summer, so let's go to the beach! And although Port de Caravella has several urban beaches, the Plage du Lac is a favorite with both locals and tourists. Located in the Nouvelle suburb, Plage du Lac is a popular beach due to fact that there are many small restaurant is the area. With two universities close by, the beach is also popular with students. The Plage du Lac is enclosed with several highrise apartment buildings and the famous RLS Resort. Next to the beach you can grab something to eat or drink at a Panera Bread, Carl's Diner, Starbucks or one of the local stands selling fruit and ice cream. At the other end of the Nouvelle suburb, an old part of the harbour has been completely renovated. As part of the renovation a large number of apartment buildings have been build on the edge of the harbour, previously occupied by warehouses and other industry. Replies: @mike_oxlong: I've looked around, but there are not many good examples of a Zoo on Simtropolis. So maybe you can add another one ;-) @TekindusT @Dgmc2013: Thanks for the positive feedback! @kingofsimcity: Many, many thanks for creating those textures! My city wouldn't look anything like it does without them. But, not everybody has left the harbour. The Police, Fire Department and Coast Guard still operate from an area at the top of the harbour. And, as always: if you like it, let me know!
  7. Seaside, Oregon

    Version 1.0.1

    151 Downloads

Seaside and Gearhart Oregon taken from terrain party GPS map(18km, 1:1 scale). Scenic ocean side city right next to Lewis and Clark's path to the Pacific(Lewis and Clark River). Abundant in all in game resources. Ore and oil in the mountains, with fertile farmland near the river flood planes. Highway 101 and Lewis and Clark Road placed by hand based off google maps. Hand modeled beach sloped correctly(no steep cliff drops), abundant in driftwood and scenic rocks. Lewis and Clark River, Little S Fork Lewis and Clark River, and Necanicum River modeled with water props. Water props placed so that ocean currents do not flow into inland river(you can dump waste into the ocean without it coming back into the rivers). The Lewis and Clark River drains out of map(north end) and can be used for waste dumping. Negative current water props placed near the rocky, beach side mountain to pull waste currents from the beach(pulls to the southwest corner of map). IRL non-existent railroad placed from north to south end of map(follows Lewis and Clark road for northern part). Railway connections on extreme north and east end of map(accessible with 81 tiles). Highway connection on extreme east near the railways connection(accessible with 81 tiles).
  8. Simtropolis beach

This is from my city "Simtropolis" from a game called Designer city (available on the playstore and appstore). It's summer now, and what better place to be other than the beach?
  9. As tourism is booming in Principauté de Caravella-Guatalaga, the number of hotel rooms is also increasing rapidly in Port de Caravella. Various hotels have opened in recent years with big chains like Hyatt, Mercure and Holiday Inn trying to get a fair share of the tourism market. One of the fine exceptions to these chains is the Victoria Hotel located at Place Victoria. The hotel originally opened in 1788 and is a landmark building ever since. Today, Hotel Victoria is located at the point where both Light Rail lines (Ligne Bleu and Ligne Rouge) come together ... but more on that in a later update. Since 2007, the Grand Hyatt Hotel is located next door to Hotel Victoria. Replies @kschmidt @v701 @sucram17 @raynev1 @feyss @_Michael @TekindusT Thank you all so much for the positive comments! @mike_oxlong The boulevard is very custom, but unfortunately not a mod that i can share ... Another addition to the booming tourist industry is the Spring Mall, located on the west side of the old city. The mall holds 78 different Retail stores, including brands like Zara, Mango, Media Markt, H&M and a Coca-Cola brand store. Across from the Spring Mall is the CBS (Caravella Broadcasting Service) building. All national TV and radio stations are located within this building. But if you are a tourist and want to escape all of this, then Plage de Petite Baie is the place to go. Although being one of the smallest beaches in the country it's less touristic as the bigger beaches and usually occupied by the locals that live in the old town. If you like it, let me know!

  23. Myrtos Beach

Located on the island of Cephalonia in the Ionian Sea, few beaches across the globe can compare to Greece's breathtaking Myrtos Beach. Due to it's remote and rugged location, the beach is completely inaccessible by foot - the only way to reach it is to traverse your way down a series of steep hairpin curves. Once you make it there however, you'll be rewarded greatly with pristine, warm Mediterranean waters, perfectly soft white sand, and of course, incredible views. Our journey gets started off with us making accommodations at a timeless Greek villa - our room overlooks the edge of the beach, giving us a fantastic view of the sunset. We'll be staying here tonight, and tomorrow we're off to the beach. We set off for the beach early in the morning, driving through endless fields of daisies and poppies along our way. However, just as we roll down our windows to take in the smell, the clouds darken and it starts pouring. It looks like our day at the beach could very well be in jeopardy. Fortunately for us however, it was nothing more than a quick rain shower. The sky eventually begins to clear up and the beach starts to come alive with tourists. We stake out a prime spot on the beachfront and soak up the sun - no better way to spend an afternoon! Myrtos Beach is more than just a beach - it's an experience. Activities such as hang gliding are extremely popular throughout the area, so we throw caution to the wind and decide to give it a shot. We make our way back to the beach just as the day begins to wind down. Once nightfall approaches, we get a little peace and quiet once the beach starts emptying out - being sure to take it all in one last time. A perfect end to our day. I hope you enjoyed your visit to Myrtos Beach! Don't forget to comment, like, and follow True Earth if you haven't already! -korver
