Imgur ceases service in the UK in response to "Online Safety Act"
Dreadnought posted a topic in Current Events
YO, GUYS -- I recently sent @AP a snapshot of some stuff I was doing on the Bremerhaven map -- and for some reason he was unable to view the image. He got a "Content not viewable in your region" message. I sent the picture via the Simtrop PM system. This has never happened before. He immediately became worried that members of the community might be having the same problem. IF POSSIBLE -- Could EVERYONE view this particular image -- PLEASE. IF YOU SEE THE IMAGE, CLICK THE "LIKE" BUTTON AND I WILL KNOW IT'S OK. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE IMAGE -- PLEASE SEND ME A "PM" -- RIGHT AWAY. INCLUDING YOUR COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE MIGHT BE A CLUE TO THE ISSUE. (NO personal information beyond that, please.) Sorry for the "bother" -- but I would appreciate your cooperation to try and solve the issue "AP" is having. THANK YOU -- THANK YOU --- 10 Replies

Time for another map! This time it's the English Channel and the Strait of Dover, Calais-Dover-Dunkirk, France-U.K. Now you too can build the Chunnel in SimCity 4! The map is 24 x 28 large city tiles and is accurately scaled based on DEM data. It has been rotated 15 degrees. In order to install the map you will need wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer as the file is in SC4M format. I hope you can put this map to good use, enjoy! -TCC View My Full Map Catalogue Here:- 2 Reviews

An old pumping station constructed in the 1930's located in Leatherhead, about an hour southwest of London, U.K. A larger more decorative water pump lot that can blend into residential areas, also has some night lighting that shows off some of the interior. The roof and sides differ from the real life building because I wasn't able to find detailed images of everything, in particular the rooftop. Thanks @sejr99999 for testing and re-lotting this one. Dependencies (not essential but recommended): BSC Mega Props - CP Vol02.dat CP_PropPack_Vol01.dat Mattb325_UrbanCivics_MN_Vol01.dat SFBT_CP_Street_Deciduous_Trees.dat -

Another week, another map, this time it's London, England, U.K. (for SimCity 4). London is the capital and largest city of the United Kingdom with a population of 8.8 million people (metropolitan area 14.8 million). The map is 24 x 28 large city tiles and is accurately scaled based on DEM data. It stretches generally from Windsor to the English Channel and encompasses all of London and the City of London. In order to install the map you will need wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer as the file is in SC4M format. Hi everyone especially my fellow UK mayors... I've just started my first region in 10 years and already I have come to a grinding halt...so I'm asking my fellow UK mayors (or anyone really) their thoughts on NAM UK road network equivalents... My way of thinking is as follows: Motorway - NAM RHW6 Dual Carriageway - NWM4 Avenue (My brain can't get past the word "Avenue") Single Carriageway - NWM2 Avenue or possibly RHW2? Thoughts anyone?

I'm not well versed in the Simtropolis clubs section, but I was wondering whether there was sufficent demand for a Club for UK players? I see many other European nations are represented, and I have noticed a small but dedicated group of players, like myself, who build their cities along a very British looking theme (although I'm playing as close to Vanilla as possible these days). Building UK style cities is quite awkward and tricky-that main road through your town? Well that's probably been there for 1000 years so make sure its got enough kinks and bends to make it look realistic-for example. It would be nice, if possible, to have a section where British players can bounce ideas off eachother.

SC4 Deluxe : British Modpack, blocking American buildings only!
nekomaster posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Because I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada, I mostly set up SimCity 4 with American and Canadian styled buildings, mostly stuff that fits into the majority of Canada, The North East, North West, Mid West and Central parts of USA. Though lately I've been thinking about building cities in a different style like United Kingdom or Asia. I did get the no maxis files mod to block all levels of Residential and Commercial, though I wonder is there a way to just block American buildings in general and leave the European set alone? Other then that I know where to get british themed lots and what not so that wont be an issue for me, I just want to block the American stuff for my British SimCity 4 setup. EDIT : I KNOW THAT YOU CAN DISABLE THE AMERICAN TILE SETS, but not all of the mods/lots I download may fall into the European category and thus may not spawn if I just disable the American tile sets alone. I'm downloading stuff right now that mostly looks british in my opinion but may not actually be strictly European/British and may not be enabled in the European tile set. I just want to disable the American buildings and leave the European stuff in, that way I can enable all the Tile Sets and let the European set grow and let mod lots/buildings grow incase they don't end up under the European tile set. -
United Kingdom 2017 General Election (UK Political Happenings)
_Michael posted a topic in Current Events
A thread for the politics happenings in the UK. (I don't think there is already one.) So David Cameron has just resigned, and Theresa May is currently at the palace. As a fan of Cameron, it's a sad day. 6 years and 62 days in control, both in a coalition and in a majority, but I'm looking forward to seeing what May can bring. What are your opinions? There are also more issues rising in the Labour Party. Will Jeremy Corbyn go? Who knows. I think it is hard for him to stay. -
Entry 4: Darlington (WIP) For the last couple of months I have been busy with SC4, now I'm winding that down and focusing on Cities Skylines. I rebuilt my plugins/assets folder and trimmed it greatly. Making gigantic cities is murder for my computer so instead I will be building towns and rural areas. Here is the town of Darlington, in this city tile I have spent the last several days focusing on urban development. Soon I will work on the agriculture and farms. Lastly I want to thank gatakos, a Simtropolis member, for inspiring me to pick up Cities Skylines again. {---} 1. The magic of building themes, an entire area of semi-detached buildings can be effortlessly laid down. 2. The Network Extensions mod includes all kinds of new roads. 3. Be that new one-way roads and highways... 4. ...and one tile roads. In the vanilla game the roads take up two tiles. 5. Victorian housing, old but posh. 6. Using the Network Skins mod I can choose the type of trees and lampposts that will appear on roads. Here are TPB's shady trees. 7. Another cool mod of TPB's is the terrain theme mod. I can select a different terrain ingame! 8. This game is nirvana for British users. So many British assets! 9. Nearly all the time spent so far was laying down the RCI. In this stretch of avenue though I focused on the little details. 10. Details such as this mini-park. 11. The rocks are another one of TPB's creations. 12. A good view to the south. 13. I use the Roads United mod to improve the road textures. 14. The best feature of this mod are the cosmetic parking bay demarcations. 15. The complete overview. When finished the entire town will fit into the confines of this picture. I don't want to make a super large city, just something reasonably sized. 16. Find the right colour correction and sunsets become magical. {---} Some time next week I will post another WIP entry, this time it will focus more on agriculture and the countryside surrounding Darlington.

This is a six lot set of Regency terraces located in the Pimlico neighborhood of London. • 6 growable 1x2 R§§§ lots. • Four of the rowhouses are midblock lots (6-7, 9-10, 12-13, and 15-16 Warwick Square) and two of them are corner lots (22-23 Warwick Square, and a mirrored version, 22-23 M). • Ploppable lots are not included because it is not possible to make functional residential ploppables for SimCity 4. • MaxisNite and DarkNite versions. • DarkNite requires the Day and Nite Modd. Installation Instructions: 1. Download either the DarkNite (DN) or MaxisNite (MN) version. If you're unsure, choose the MN version. 2. Unzip the .zip and move its contents to Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins. 3. The included files are descriptively titled. Remove the .SC4Lot and corresponding .SC4Model file of what you don't want. Yet another signal that the 2010's are way more politized than the past decades: the so-called radical labour MP Jeremy Corbyn had won the party leadership with almost the 60% of the vote, at least tripling Andy Burnham, the nearest contender. This position grants Corbyn a significative control of the party, the possibility to head the 'shadow cabinet', and makes him the labour candidate to the office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (so yes, in a presidential system, this is the rough equivalent of winning a primary election) Corbyn, who has been member of the parliament since 1983 for North Islington, but has never participated in a Cabinet, is known for his sindicalist allegiance, pacifism and anti-austerity stance, which condenses in his self-described democratic socialist ideology. From a comparative perspective, the success of Corbyn could be understood as part of an international polatization tendency, which has made many left-wing politicians to lead polls and win elections. The first signals of this 'left turn' were in the rapid succesion of leftist governments established in latin america since the election of Hugo Chávez in 1999. Largely considered an exclusively latin american process, the rise of Syriza in Greece and Podemos in Spain signaled an 'exportation' of the model of leftist anti-austerity charismatic leadership, that has been 'contagied' to the UK with Corbyn, and the US in the person of Bernie Sanders. Could this current keep its pace and radicalize more left-wing parties in the developed countries, or it is just casuality? Video vía The Guardian. Link to full article
