    Version 1.0.0

    403 Downloads

Another week, another map, this time it's London, England, U.K. (for SimCity 4). London is the capital and largest city of the United Kingdom with a population of 8.8 million people (metropolitan area 14.8 million). The map is 24 x 28 large city tiles and is accurately scaled based on DEM data. It stretches generally from Windsor to the English Channel and encompasses all of London and the City of London. In order to install the map you will need wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer as the file is in SC4M format. I hope you can put this map to good use, enjoy! -TCC View My Full Map Catalogue Here:
  4. AGC - HMS Devonshire 1942

    Version 1.0.0

    572 Downloads

History: HMS Devonshire, pennant number 39, was a County-class heavy cruiser of the London sub-class built for the Royal Navy in the late 1920s. The ship spent most of her pre-World War II career assigned to the Mediterranean Fleet aside from a brief tour with the China Station. She spent the first two months of the Second World War in the Mediterranean until she was transferred to the Home Fleet and became flagship of a cruiser squadron. Devonshire took part in the Norwegian Campaign in mid 1940 and evacuated much of the Norwegian Government in June. Several months later, she participated in the Battle of Dakar, a failed attempt to seize the Vichy French colony of Senegal in September. The ship remained in the South Atlantic afterwards and supported Free French efforts to take control of French Equatorial Africa in addition to searching for German commerce raiders. Devonshire returned home in early 1941 and briefly rejoined the Home Fleet, during which time she escorted several aircraft carriers as they attacked German forces in Norway and Finland and covered the first convoy to the Soviet Union. Shortly afterwards, the ship was sent to the South Atlantic where she sank the auxiliary cruiser Atlantis. Devonshire was then assigned to the Eastern Fleet in the Indian Ocean and supported the Allied invasion of Madagascar in mid-1942. She then spent the next year escorting convoys before returning home to begin a lengthy refit. After it was completed in early 1944, the ship escorted various aircraft carriers for the rest of the war as they attacked targets in Norway. Specs: The file contains an 13x2 lot. You can plop in the water or on the ground (You can also use MMP under or around the model). Night versions: Includes Maxisnite & Darknite (Choose only one) Scale of the models: 100% on all axes (Real World Scale). 6. UK players' club

I'm not well versed in the Simtropolis clubs section, but I was wondering whether there was sufficent demand for a Club for UK players? I see many other European nations are represented, and I have noticed a small but dedicated group of players, like myself, who build their cities along a very British looking theme (although I'm playing as close to Vanilla as possible these days). Building UK style cities is quite awkward and tricky-that main road through your town? Well that's probably been there for 1000 years so make sure its got enough kinks and bends to make it look realistic-for example. It would be nice, if possible, to have a section where British players can bounce ideas off eachother.
  7. The Posthouse

    Version 1.0

    558 Downloads

The Post House The Post house is a small resident building in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire. It is an English rural building built in late 18 century. Name, “The Post House”, is written in gothic lettering on façade, but most likely the name has nothing to do with the mail or post office. The road is called Post Street, so I guess the name of the building comes from here. My BAT is very similar to real building, but not an exact copy. The back side and the extension is my imagination. However, I have got inspiration from 3D Warehouse Sketchup model of this house, but the BAT 100 % my own work. I haven’t used 3D Warehouse model’s textures as I feel that better result can achieve if I use my own texture bases. In real life the Post House is most likely a resident house, but I offer the BAT as CO$$ office. I need small rural offices for my SC4 plays, so I made this as such. I have included a red brick variation of this BAT and it is a R$$ residential building The model is HD and with Maxis and Dark Night version. Night versions share IDs, so if you have both versions in the city, those will most likely conflict. It has a custom foundation, so it is slope friendly. 8. Bedford Square

    Version 1.0

    2,146 Downloads

This Bat pack is a facsimile of building in Bedford Square, London, WC1. These are not exact copies, façades are close to real buildings, but the back sides are mostly of my imagination. I have also been very creative with the corner buildings. Still I hope that these give a feel of Bedford Square architecture. In total this pack consist 12 BAT models. Bedford Square is built in 1783 as an upper middle class residential area. It was a part of the speculated building boom, which saw London grow to North and West during late 18th Century. Bedford Square is one of the best preserved Georgian Squares in London and thus I feel it is a fine example of the Georgian architecture. Today these buildings are mostly commercial offices, but I have lotted these as residential buildings. As these were at the time of the building. The wealth level is bit of touch and go, because today a such of flat in London would cost a fortune. Still I feel that High Wealth in SC4 would require certain level of grandeur, simply being old is not good enough, so I lotted only stucco buildings as High Wealth and brick face ones are Medium Wealth. My compromise and these can be easily change if needed. The corner buildings are available as ploppable CO$$ versions and I have included a few models as 45 degree diagonal bonuses. I haven’t lotted diagonals and as I have a little experience about diagonals, I haven’t yet figured out how to use those efficiently. May be some can and is able to use bonus diagonals. The model is HD and with Maxis and Dark Night version. Night versions share IDs, so if you have both versions in the city, those will most likely conflict. Due the nature of the wells, these are not slope friendly and are at the best on relative flat terrain. If there is a demand for SD versions, I might consider it. So if you want SD BATs, please make a request. Dependencies Most buildings occupy a full lot, so the dependencies are essentially optional. However, a few lots have space on the back, so I have used some HD props on those. 9. Clerkenwell Library

    Version 1.0

    1,834 Downloads

This small wall-to-wall library is inspired by a real life building, Karl Marx Memorial Library, in Clerkenwell, London. This is no political statement, I just like its Georgian look and it fits into my current playstyle. There are not that many historical libraries for wall-to-wall urban environment, so I decided to create one. I have made two versions, a grey stucco functional education library and an additional red brick high wealth office building. The real life building is from Georgian era, built around 1769, but has been heavily modified during its life. It has served many functions, including as a shop. During 1980's the building was renovated and the original look was restored. This BAT is based on how facade looks today. HD model with Maxis and Dark Night version. Night versions share IDs, so if you have both versions in the city, those will most likely conflict. It has a custom foundation, so it is slope friendly. I have included in a 1x1 FAR angle option of the Library building. The FAR model is included in the file and perhaps someone can do a better lotting than I did. Simmer2 has been helpful with the lotting and he has provided a custom texture for the lots. The texture dat file is included in the download. Thank You Simmer2. 10. Gochester

Gochester in 1990: This real life real map which took huge amounts of work and effort for the city council to make shows Gochester as it was in 1990. It hadn't grown in 30 years and felt very much like a town of stagnation. Whilst nearby cities were in a new age of prosperity, Gochester still lingered in the cuts and rainy days of the 1970s. When people walked down the street, they did it with glum expressions and collars turned up against the weather. Old marked squares were carpeted over with parking lots and 60s concrete ruled the streets. The large industrial area to the east side of town was mainly silent (The smoke from the chimneys only from secret illegal grunge concerts held in the abandoned factory halls). All in all, Gochester was a pretty grimy place, and it was full of traffic jams to boot, though it seems only by trucks going from Rennville (it was close to the French border) to Carlsburg (Also pretty close to the German one), as residents themselves knew nothing was worth getting out of bed for. At this point there were 4 rock concerts underway. If nothing else, Gochestarian's love music.Indeed many bands from the 70s and 80s came from Gochester, using its drabness and an inspiration. If only we knew how they did it. This is central Gochester by night! The statue of death really goes a long way to represent what Gochester is like. Ahh finally a sunny day! In the midground of this photo you can see the rail lines leaving the massive Amity Square Station, a completely out sized Victorian behemoth built when the town was going somewhere. Most of the platforms are unused, but fortunately, unlike most of Gochester, they've been re-purposed. They're now used as a playground for the local kids, and some are also used by drug dealers! A view from the top of the dome in the early evening. Okay, maybe I was being a bit harsh on Gcchester, it has it's problems, but it can be quite beautiful.. maybe it has a future yet after all. though there are 2 fires burning in that last picture...
  11. Steptoe & Son Scarp Metal Yard

    Version 1.0

    1,568 Downloads

The texture dat file and lotting by @Simmer2 This is a historical recycle centre with a twist. It lowers the city's garbage production as 20 %, the same amount as the Maxis Recycle Center, but Steptoe & Son offers the recycling with much lower cost. However they are not up to modern health and safety standard and thus the lot is really an eyesore. Not only it pollutes the environment, but it has negative impact on the park effect and mayor's rating, not to mention that is a NIMBY building. There are three different sized lots and each of those have a slight garbage disposal capacity. Thus these lots can help your garbage problem. I have felt that SC4's Vanilla's Landfills have too inefficient and cost too much, so I have often used user created garbage facilities, such as Simpeg's garbage barge. My lots are intended for early and small cities to stop the garbage to accumulate. Simmer2 has been invaluable help to implement this idea and he has made custom lot texture, which really complement the lot. I have made the BAT building and most of the props are from splendid Historic Harbour. I am very pleased to see how the lot, the textures, the BAT and the props really complete each other. The 3x3 Scrap Yard lot has functional and pathed STR rail connection. Both passenger and freight trains can travel through the lot. This railtransit lot required NBVC's recycle center as a dependency. The BAT is HD and both Maxis Night and Dark Night versions are available. The building has a custom foundation and it can tolerate moderate slopes. Note on custom query. I have made custom queries for these lots and I have used correct Maxis data Ids. However there is an error on monthly garbage disposed information. It shows incorrect amount disposed and there seems to be a decimal error. When the query informs that 10 tons garbage was disposed, the actual amount is 1 ton. Please note when reading the query information. I don't have skills to correct this error as it seems to in the Maxis files. All the models are converted to Maxis night option. Stats are same and all files have desc.sc4 included. The props and the Main buildings. However, as noted above, I have not included the lots. So this is only for those of you who are willing to do extra effort to make lots themselves or use my Dark Night lots as template.

Clerkenwell Close This is a SD version. This one includes both Dark Nite and Maxis Night options. The Clerkenwell Close terrace row is based on a real building row at London’s Clerkenwell. This is a late Georgian townhouse, built around 1792-94. In my opinion quite typical of Georgian period townhouse in this part of London. Modest houses, but quite possibly intended for artisan / skilled worker family house. Something today we would call as the middle class, although back then there would have been servant’s rooms in the dormer. Often the townhouses were divided in to rented room lodgings and this in my mind, I have made the BATs as low wealth residence and commerce buildings. Originally this was a six house row, but today only two remain. Other four has been demolished in 1950’s to make room for nearby St James Church’s garden. Two of the houses were renovated by the Islington Council. Houses were in bad shape and most of the outer walls were rebuilt. I have based my model on 1956 drawing, although I have made some simplifications. Thus the modern houses are slight different, for example the roof is different shape now. The corner houses are fictional, just based on my imagination and only with style are companions for the terrace row. As it is difficult to grow right corner combination, I offer the corner commercial buildings as ploppable version. So that a player can finish the terrace row with matching corner building. I have also included custom foundations, but I would not call these buildings slope friendly. These are tolerant for slight elevation, but do not function well in hilly region. A set of residential building mainly intended for rural and village environment. I have included in the pack one R$$$ Manor house (2 lots), two R$$ residence cottages (6 lots), one R$ small house (2 lots), one R$ town house (2 lots) and two IR farms (2 lots). Plus some stable and shed props to match the half-timber style. Expect the R$ town house, all lots are for low density and for early stages 1-2. As before, the style is from British Isles, this time in period vaguely Tudor / Elizabethan. I have used my trusty Bilteezi railway model card kits as an inspiration. However, the buildings are adapted and I have used artistic freedom and using my modular approach, I have been able to do several different models from the same building block. I have built these houses to be a bit more slope friendlier than my previous BATs. I still wouldn’t call the lots as slope friendly, but I have included custom foundations. With modest slopes, there shouldn’t be problems. I have a lot to learn and my trial with prop steps at front of the buildings did not work well. Nightlights are Maxis, render HD. I have made two versions of the lots. One is very dependencies heavy with many HD props and textures. Other is with Maxis standard props and some commonly used prop packs. Please choose which version to use. The houses are same in both versions. Only lots and prop packs are different. Version HTM_Propheavy is the one with HD props by Girafe, Historic Harbour and Vortext’s texture. Version HTM_CPprops is a light weight version of the lots with CP’s trees, BSC textures and Swi21’s props. Use only one version of the Lots. Delete the extra file folder. 16. London Townhouse Pack

    Version 1.0

    5,564 Downloads

London Townhouse Pack A BAT pack for London / British cities enthusiast. This pack contains 18 residential, commercial and office buildings and one town medical clinic. The Architectural style is Georgian, very late of 18thcentury, but these kinds of buildings are still common in different parts of the British Isles. Aesthetically very simple, but I like this period style. And very much in London style. To me a typical London building is this kind of old Georgian house. Although in the City the Georgian buildings are mostly gone, in many places outside of the Square Mile there are still streets lined with the Georgian row houses. Often with upmarket prices. The BAT design is modular and the houses are variations of same basic structure. I have aimed to create ingame variation with only handful of lots. For example, I have made 8 R$$ houses and 4 lots (2 1x2 and 2 1x1) with 12 separate house extension props. The house extension props are grouped as prop families, so type and number of extension should vary from lot to lot. In theory, this should give over hundred different combinations for the lot, although difference can be minima for overall game. However, using separate house extension has caused some problems. The extension props overlaps slightly with the houses and sometime a corner of the prop is invisible or leaves a hole. Also need to align the extension props to the houses, causes these lots to be slope unfriendly. Max slope before foundation is limited to 1 and I don’t think these lots would look nice in mountainous maps. Nightlight are Maxi only. HD render The house model is based on a real life building in Smithfields, East London. Artillery Lane 54-56. The shops are still standing (or were at least few years ago) and the façade is original or faithful to original Georgian design. I think today these building are residential buildings, but the Georgian shop windows remain. I found a scale drawing of these houses and the BAT model is made by using this info. The scale is real life scale and it makes the buildings look slightly smaller than SC4 comparison buildings from batters such as Gascooker. But then again, the historic Georgian buildings tend to be smallish, so I don’t think that size is a big issue. I did choose medium wealth level as originally these houses were often inhabited by carpenters, merchants, sea captains, watchmakers and other artisans. People whom I would call as Georgian / Victorian middle class. By late Victorian times many streets and houses had dilapidated to rentroom housing and slums. Therefore I made few R$ rookery versions. Today these houses would probably be High Wealth, at least in good areas, so please adjust setting to your liking. 17. North West England

This is a large map of the southern half of north west England. There is enough space to build the whole of Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Blackpool, Warrington, rural Cheshire and the suburban sprawl which runs all over the place! The map is of a 1:1 size, so is very big, but fun. The only problems with it are the mountains to the north and east. Thats the Peak District National Park...but when lightening the map enough to be above the water level, the tops of the hills got 'clipped' - I couldn't find away around the. I have attached the greyscale imagine to this for anyone who is able to fix this. Also...You might see all the ponds/ small lakes near the coast. These aren't really there as its all marsh land which has been channelled. I decided to leave them in as this is meant to be a map of the area before it was build on and tamed.

My British building journey continues. This time three stone building variations. Historic houses that can be found in Northern England and possibly in Scotland and Ireland. Two residences and one small commercial shop. These can be used in both rural and town environments as 1x2 lots are wall-to-wall buildings. The buildings and textures are based on Bilteezi railway model cardkits. This has helped me to get sizes and shapes right. Also, for some reason, Bilteezi texture suite well with HD. Ho Ho Ho Simtropians, Merry Christmas. Today's map is courtesy of a request by Mtt9, thanks mate. It is of Cornwall and Devon in the southwest of England. It is a greyscale map and measures 210.944km x 152.576km. It is accurate in terrain and scale and was produced with dem and satellite data. A custom non-eroding height plugin is included. See me up CLOSE and personal. There are some caveats with a map of this size: 1. A 64bit operating system is needed. 2. SimCity 4 need to be patched with the 4GB patcher. 3. Not all cities can be scrolled to in game. If one is using a terrain mod the custom height plugin has to be pasted into a z folder or if using Gobias's terrain mod a zzzz folder in the Plugins Directory. This is a normal greyscale map. It renders in-game and will take some time, be patient it took 84 minutes on my 'puter (734 tile). It may take longer on yours. A readme is included with instructions. That I think is about all. Cheers, get drunk it's christmas.

This is a real world map and is terrain and scale accurate, Wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer is required to import it into SC4,if using terraformer there are some caveats to follow in the readme. It measures 69.632km x 77.824km. A readme is included containing links and instructions. That's all I think. Cheers

G'Day Simtropians, Today I wish to present a map of Manchester, Recently I was asked to make this map and a few days later informed my services were no longer needed. Oh well I had a map and it had no home, until now. Manchester was first settled sometime before 79AD when the Romans built a fort there. Since that time Manchester has never looked back. This is a real world map, produced with dem and satellite date. Wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer is required to import the .sc4m file into one's game. It is terrain and scale accurate. A readme is included detailing instructions and links and a picture. That's all I think. No there is something else, The map troll is not a troll, he is just a jealous and spiteful old man. Interestingly when he went on holidays last christmas, amazingly no ones were seen anywhere. I thought perhaps he'd lost his log in, until he showed up again and so did the ones! I was going to stop making maps after about 50 but then I thought if it craps him off so much I'll just keep going, Now I have more than 350 maps, Ha loser. Personally I don't like anonymous rating, if one is big enough to dish out crappy ones then one is big enough to stand up and give a reason. I think it is time for the Admins to out this person, high ranking, good standing, whatever, so be it. What with so much analytical software on websites these days it is not that difficult to track button clicks and log them, even my web site has some ;<). Cheers
