  1. Paris (Pt. 3/3)

    Our trip to Paris continues with a trip to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica (Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris) - one of Paris' most beautiful churches, often drawing comparisons to the Taj Mahal. Located on top of a small hill in the heart of the city, the church is visible for miles around. The next stop is Place de la Concorde - Paris' most famous square. Originally designed in 1755, this square is unlike anything else in the city - complete with a massive authentic Egyptian obelisk in the middle. The Panthéon, located in Paris' Latin Quarter, is another one of the cities most famed landmarks. Originally modeled after Rome's Pantheon and built as a church - it now functions as a mausoleum for many of France's most famous citizens. The Bourse de commerce is one of the city's most unique buildings, both in shape and function. It was originally used as a place to trade grain upon completion in 1763, then as a stock exchange, and more recently, plans are underway to transform it into a major art museum. The 689 foot tall Tour Montparnasse is the tallest skyscraper in Paris - and is hard to miss. Upon completion in 1973, the building was heavily criticized for its style and for being out of place - and as a result, buildings over 7 stories tall were banned from the city center. A massive renovation is slated to begin in 2019. Our tour of Paris ends with one of the city's most famous landmarks - the Arc de Triomphe. Built between 1803 and 1836, this iconic monument serves as a tribute to French soldiers lost in wars and has important military leaders engraved on its walls. For those wishing to get up close - make sure you use the underground tunnels instead of dodging the traffic..   2. Paris (Pt. 2/3)

    Our tour picks back up with a trip to La Madeleine - one of the city's most recognizable churches. Originally designed as a temple to the glory of Napoleon's army - its Greek style sets it apart from the rest. Since its completion in 1842, it's been one of the most popular attractions in the city. The Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe is one of the most beautiful theaters in the city and one of France's six national theaters. The Palais Garnier is one of Paris' most grand opera houses - opened in 1875, it's a true masterpiece. The next stop is one of Paris' most unique landmarks - the Centre Pompidou. Completed in 1977, this enormous colored building is covered in a maze of pipes going in every direction - and has housed a popular art museum ever since. (Animation might take a little bit to completely load) Our last stop today is one of the world's most famous landmarks - the Eiffel Tower. Completed in 1889 for the Universal Exposition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution - this 986 foot tall tower became the world's tallest freestanding structure for over 40 years. It's remained an icon of Paris and France ever since. Well there's no reason in fact I don't start a thread on Simtropolis as well now that I have a valid account I have created buildings with Gmax for nearly a year now, still I have only four releases yet, all available on our old french home Toutsimcities. I have, yet, many projects hidden in my folders but that may be long to come out mainly because of my extreme laziness. I would'nt re-post here the various previews, but everything can be seen on my thread on SC4Devotion and on TSC as well. For some weeks I have been collaborating with my dear talented colleague Sciurus on a railway pack including many stations and other devices. We're sleeping on it for the moment but we will be back on that in the future as well I just have small things to show today, the various props I've been working on to be packed in a single prop-pack which will be a dependency among others for some of my forthcomming projects. Including an early-20th-century-suburban-houses-pack of (planned) 5 models and a modular cemetery as well. So this is nearly finished ! So the others projects will boost up I still plan to make two other fence props, and one small, typically french outdoor restaurant usually found on wharfs, plazas or parks, called a "Guinguette" (or a "Pied-Humide" in my town). I'm indeed quite happy with the small hearse, my first attempt in vehicle creation. I'd like to make a horse-driven hearse but I'm afraid with the horse, I suspect myself to be ineffectual and to make a hideous freaking out freak instead.

    France Agricole I Welcome to this new series in wich I try to escape from the urban jungle of last month´s urban stroll ! This series will be about short or medium breaks from larger projects, containing widely somekind of diorama like scene´s wich are some what experimental or not covered in current series ! Agriculture, haven´t been touched for just about half a year so we return in a France like scape. France Anno in wich this scape is created is quit different fromt ANNO Europe. As such other will be developed ! Some wider views ! France Tourisme is second nature ! Last we have a look at some typical medium town of wich there are so many !   6. Château des Pins [VIEW POINT; MUSEUM] The Château des Pins is one of the oldest structures in Principauté de Caravella-Guatalaga. Today, only the foundation of the castle remains but for centuries this stronghold protected the entrance to Baie d'Caravella (Caravella Bay). The castle was built in the 18th century when Port de Caravella became a blooming trade port with ships seeking safety from the gusting winds and storms of the Atlantic Ocean. After several modifications, the characteristic gun placement was added in the beginning of the 19th century. The decay of the castle started in the 20th century with various storms weakening the structure. After a partial collapse in 1911, the local government decided the tear down the castle to prevent accidents. In 1992 a local group of archaeologists started the excavate the area, discovering various artefacts and that the foundation of the castle was still intact. In 2008 the government started with a project to open up the site to the general public. A visit to the site is a must-do when you are in Port de Caravella. On a clear day, the views from both the gun placement as well as the lookout are spectacular. Also interesting is the small visitors centre that is located next to the castle. It offers the collection of discovered artefacts and will show you how the castle looked when it was still complete. But be aware: the climb to the castle will take about 30 mins. Introduction Caravella-Guatalaga, officially the Principality of Caravella-Guatalaga (French: Principauté de Caravella-Guatalaga), is a autonomous region of France and an archipelago composed of four volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean about 1,520 km west of continental Portugal and about 240 km north-west of the Azores. Caravella-Guatalaga has a population of about 142.000, most of them live in the capital city of Port Caravella. In recent years Caravella-Guatalaga has developed a booming tourist industry and has become known as a playground for the rich and famous, due to its laws facilitating tax evasion. In 2014, it was noted about 30% of the population was made up of millionaires, similar to Zürich, Geneva and Monaco. Caravella-Guatalaga is a principality governed under a form of constitutional monarchy, with Prince Phillipe VI as head of state. Although Prince Phillipe VI is a constitutional monarch, he wields immense political power. The House of Caravella have ruled Caravella-Guatalaga, with brief interruptions, since 1617. The official language is French, but English is widely spoken and understood. The region's autonomy was officially recognized by the Français-Caravella Treaty of 1946. Despite Caravella-Guatalaga autonomy and separate foreign policy, its defense is the responsibility of France. However, Caravella-Guatalaga does maintain several military units.   12. I was last there in 1977. At the time I flew from Heathrow directly to Merignac, and rented a small car. I spent two weeks in the middle of September wandering around the area including some of the nearby chais, and even made a special trip up to Arcachon with a side trip to Cognac (you turn left at Angouleme). Mostly, I did the tourist thing with an emphasis on history. The article is a little off, because the Romans got a lot of their wine from there 2,000 years or more ago. If you go in the fall take a light jacket. The evenings are quite cool.

    This BAT is loosely based on a Parisian Left Bank apartment building. It may not look like typical Parisian building from Belle Epoque period, but it was built in 1888 as a social housing. Thus perhaps uncommon red brick façade for a central Paris building. Because the real life building has shops on the ground floor, I offer this building as R$ and C$. Shame that SC4 doesn’t support dual function buildings. I offer two versions, HD and SD. I like HD buildings, but those do not always mix well with other BATs. This is especially apparent when I did compare my building with Xannapan’s and Porkissimo’s masterful Paris buildings. Therefore I have included a SD option for those who prefer it. Choose the folder you like. Both HD and SD buildings can coexist in same city as the models, descs and lots are separate. Maxis only Nightlights.   14. Port Byron: Stade Aérodrome

    The Stade Aérodrome is the biggest stadium in Republique de Guatalaga. The stadium is located on the north-east corner of the old military airfield of Port Byron. When the airfield was closed in the 1990's, the stadium was the first contruction that took place there. The name was given to remember the history of the location. Today the stadium can hold a maximum capacity of 18.500 people and is mainly used by the Port Byron FC.

    Although Baie de Byron (the capital city of Republique de Guatalaga) has grown into a city with over 200.000 citizens, the markets are still a part of everyday life. The market on Market Square is the biggest one in the city, being partially indoor and outdoor. Here the citizens of Baie de Byron can buy all the local produce they feed at a fair price.

Well, Maxime (Citymax) just gave me an amazing prop pack, with railway and French inspired models, so basically I spent my sunday working on it More of his work here : http://www.toutsimcities.com/downloads/search/user:6552 (This prop pack is not released yet) So here is Montbard, I really had no idea what name to give to that town, so why not ?   22. Notre-Dame de Chartres

    A revisit of my old Chartres Cathedral Model. Textures have been freshened up and a few mistakes corrected, as well as size and proportion. Chartres Cathedral is a medieval Catholic cathedral located in Chartres, France. It is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The current cathedral, mostly constructed between 1194 and 1250, is the last of at least five which have occupied the site since the town became a bishopric in the 4th century. The cathedral is in an exceptional state of preservation. The majority of the original stained glass windows survive intact, while the architecture has seen only minor changes since the early 13th century. The building's exterior is dominated by heavy flying buttresses which allowed the architects to increase the window size significantly, while the west end is dominated by two contrasting spires – a 105-metre (349 ft) plain pyramid completed around 1160 and a 113-metre (377 ft) early 16th-century Flamboyant spire on top of an older tower. Equally notable are the three great façades, each adorned with hundreds of sculpted figures illustrating key theological themes and narratives.     G'Day Simtropians, This map I wish to present today is courtesy of a request from Sc-4 at SC4D, Thanks mate. It is of La Réunion, an island in the Indian Ocean that is part of France. See me up CLOSE and personal. This is a real world map and was produced with dem and satellite data. It measures 65.536km x 61.44km and utilising 16bit mapping technology, it is in .SC4M format. Wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer is required for importation. The map is terrain and scale accurate. A readme has been included containing some links and instructions and a picture. That's all I think. Cheers

    G'Day Simtropians, Today I am presenting a map of Mt Blanc, situated in the French Alps. I made it for demo purposes and thought you may enjoy a little extreme hardy sim action. This is a real world map and was produced with dem data. It is terrain and scale accurate and measures 28.672km x 28.672km. It's in .SC4M format and 16bits and requires one has either Wouanagaine;s mapper or terraformer installed to inport it. Links and instructions are included in the readme. (always free) I think that's all. Cheers
