  1. Money and Circuses

First: for soccer clubs in europe there is a basic rule, simplyfied saying: they can't spent more money on new players as they earned in the current season. Maximum deficit is 5 mio Euro. Second: FC Barcelona settled a transfer fee of 222 mio Euros for their brazilian player Neymar in the strong believe no one can ever afford this. With some tricks, Paris Saint Germain pays the 222 mio euros for this player. Now FC Barcelona has 222 mio euros to spend, two weeks before in most european countries new season will start and transfer period ends. Now every club in europe is in fear of a sold out of their players, of a carousel where the smaller clubs will loose. So this money - put into the market - will make the difference between top clubs and average clubs bigger. But sports is about competition. Even when betting on sports, it's about competition. But if money kills all the competition - where is the sense of having sports events?

  7. Český Krumlov

Today we take a tour through one of Europe's most charming cities - Český Krumlov, located in the Bohemia region of the Czech Republic. We begin in Svornosti Square - the town square located in the heart of the city. Its been here since medieval times - and today its lined by a number of old shops and antique stores. The Český Krumlov State Castle is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. Built on top of a steep cliff on the banks of the Vlatva River, the views from here are great - especially during sunsets. Its one of the most marvelous sights in the entire region - built back in the 13th century, today it houses a museum with exhibitions running frequently. Nighttime is often quiet here - making it a good time to get away from the crowds. The Virgin Mary statue located in the middle of the old square is one of the best sights at night - its hard to miss. Christmas markets are a time tested tradition in central European towns and cities - and the one hosted yearly in the town square is quite the popular attraction. With its towering Christmas tree, countless stalls, and falling snow - it truly makes for a magical atmosphere. The Vlatva River snakes and loops around the city, adding to the charm of the old town. Restaurants and shops are located along its banks, making for a picturesque experience - especially during the colors of fall. One of the most amazing times to visit Český Krumlov is during autumn - the fall foliage, crisp weather, and smaller crowds all make it a perfect time to visit the city. The atmosphere coupled with the historic buildings of the old town makes it a fairytale experience! Don't forget to comment, like, and follow True Earth if you haven't already! -korver --- Replies for "Patagonia"
  8. To the North to be specific. We have mass transit and culture. We have old buildings, and we have alot of rails. This city journal will focus on function, infrastructure, public spaces and mass transit. Not the DLC, but real functional mass transit, Scandinavian/Northern european style. I will guide you through the larger urban area after the jet lag has let off. Welcome. A bit before landing, in the background you see Morstad, where we will spend most of our first tours. Older part of the urban area, Gamla Stan (Old Town). Can you spot the rail station? Hint: Walk down the road.
  9. Nordfriesische Inseln XL

    Version 1.2.0

    214 Downloads

EN: This is a map of the North Frisian islands without Sylt, size 33x33km, so it's a bigmap. SimCity does not know tides, so there are no dikes, which have to be produced afterwards. Although some islands are connected by a narrow path, they would also have to be enlarged in the game. The challenge of this map is therefore to connect the islands economically efficiently by means of ferry connections. The region is sparsely populated, the main economic sectors are tourism and agriculture, making it the second challenge for the motivated player to get a little more. I wish you lots of fun. On my own behalf, I run a small but international facebook group for simulation games of all kinds, especially SimCity 4, the SimCity4 AG, have a look, or join in. Installation: SC4-Mapper is NOT recommended, but: 1. Start SimCity 4, create and name a new region, eg North Frisian Islands, choose water 2. Exit SimCity 4, open the SimCity region folder (for me: C:\Users\Nickbauer\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions), and replace the existing config.bmp with the loaded one 3. Restart SimCity 4, select the new region, press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R, find the "nordfriesische.inseln.2049.bmp" in the small window at the top left: (for me: C:\Users\Nick Bauer\Downloads) 4. If everything has worked out the region generates, which takes about 10-15 minutes, maybe with a cup of coffee 5. Once the new region is displayed, it can start 6. If you have any problems, please contact the group above or myself: Nick Bauer Please feel free to commend and rate high.
  10. Hi everyone! Here is the sequel of my last update with some mosaics. I think it's what I will do in my next updates: one bunch of 'normal' pictures, and then some mosaics, because what's better than this for showing a city? Without more useless talk, here are the pictures: 21. ALIJSTAR - THE VENICE OF THE NORTH: THE MOSAICS 1. The Cathedral and some old residential neighbourhood: 2. From top to bottom: the Old Harbour Station and its brand new office buildings, the 'Hertogsvaart' (Duke's canal), the Municipal Theatre, the 'Arsenaal' (another canal, the name comes from its former military allocation) and the Grand Moulins Museum. (Yes, the canals on the upper left are connected to the harbour!) 3. St. Peter's Church, 'Hertogsvaart', 'Vrijheidsplein' (Liberty Square) and 'Oude Vaart' (Old Canal). 4. St. Catherine's Church and the Cathedral. 5. Same than #2 but in the opposite view. 6. Autumn yeah! 7. The biggest one for the end: the Municipal Theatre, 'Hertogsvaart', Our Lady Church, 'Oude Vaart', 'Looiersvaart' (Tanners' canal), St. Catherine's Church, and other random canals. Hope you enjoyed it and see you next time! - REPLIES - @_Michael There is indeed a main station. Or maybe two, I don't know yet It will be close to a part of the harbour now redeveloped as a CBD, but I need to finish it before showing it! Thanks for the help btw! @TekindusT There is an old tramway in service for tourists in the summer season! Thank you for the comment! @Ln X Thanks a lot! @Abrams124 I officially thank you for the comment @MissVanleider Thank you too! @Akallan You're welcome! Thanks too for the comment! @korver Thanks a lot! @kschmidt Thank you too! I tried to had some boats on those canals with the LE but that doesn't really work unfortunately! It's indeed Goober canals, but revisited by callagrafx. And the diagonal ones were added by rsc204 last year! @Dgmc2013 Thanks a lot! @sejr99999 Thanks to you for passing by! @Takingyouthere Thanks a lot! That's important for the sims to have some open areas! @raynev1 Thank you too! @Simmer2 Thanks a lot! I will find a way to add some of your work in the city!
  11. Alijstar - The Venice of the North

Hi everyone! Time has come for a real update of Alijstar, also known by tourists as 'the Venice of the North'. I advice you to make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and install you comfortably, because there are more pictures than usual 20. ALIJSTAR - THE VENICE OF THE NORTH 1. Let's begin our tour of Alijstar with one of the city's main location: The Liberty Square (Vrijheidsplein). This important place has always been the central point of the city. It's indeed here, during the Middle-Ages and Renaissance, that merchants from all over the known world unloaded their precious shipment. Since then, the city has never lost its commercial identity, even if the harbour facilities moved a bit outside the city centre. 2. Next to this square, you can find the Ducal Palace and the Our Lady Church. 3. Not far from here is located the Municipal Theatre. 4. 5. 6. In this densely urbanised city, canals offer some fresh air and some greenery to its citizens. 7. The former Grand Moulins factory, now used as the city's Modern Art Museum. 8. 9. The Old Harbour Station. Well, you can't actually see the harbour but it's for another update 10. 11. St. Catherine's Church 12. 13. 14. Diagonal canals, yeah! 15. 16. The St. Rumbold's Cathedral, part of UNESCO World Heritage. 17. 18. Despite the quiet feeling that the canals could give, Alijstar is a bit noisy city. The highway is for instance not far. 19. But less forget the noise and come back where tourists prefer to spend their time: the St. Peter's Church and its surroundings. 20. 21. Summer seems obviously like a good idea, but autumn is also a nice season to visit the city. 22. 23. 24. 25. 26. 27. Some random shots. 28. 29. 30. 31. More general views: 32. 33. 34. 35. 36. 37. 38. And finally... I hope you enjoyed all those pictures - REPLIES - @_Michael I'm glad this gives you inspiration! Thanks for your enthusiasm! @KRMill09 A bit of 50/50. I usually plop most of the buildings on the corners and let it grow in the middle of each row. Thank you for the comment! @kschmidt I try to build every churches from my plugin folder each time I build a new city! Because it's how an European city is supposed to look like. Thanks a lot for the comment! @Themistokles Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like it that way! @rathefalcon Yeah indeed, 5GB of plugins! Most of the time, those who designed train networks tried to avoid as much as possible steep slopes, it's why I try do do it that way. Thank you too for the nice words! @Akallan Thank you too for the comment! Yeah I often have abandoned buildings when it's Work in progress, or here when it's unfinished! @Odainsaker Thank you too! That's how I try to build my avenues! @kelistmac Thank you too my friend! I really tried to make this river part of the city's identity, instead of just being an annoying bunch of water in the middle of the city. Of course, Xannepan's banks help a lot! @sunda Thank you too! @TekindusT Thanks a lot! @weixc812 Thank you! @raynev1 This game is so frustrating indeed... I wonder why I still play it. I must be masochist... Thanks a lot for the comment! @dc'smycity Thanks a lot! @Takingyouthere Thank you too! Yeah, sometimes you only need a few buildings to make it look great! @123deoliveira4 Well, here it is. Thanks for the comment!

  14. Den Otterdam

Hello Citybuilders After a lot of years building a city in SimCity 4 (Burgerwaard) I have made the transfer to Cities Skylines. This game is very nice with very nice graphics, and with the community building loads of mods there is nothing standing in your way to build a dream city.. So you guess it right, thats is exactly what i have been started. When i am building live you can watch my stream at Twitch if you like. It is a very basic stream no fancy stuff, just building in cities skylines with background music. I do not speak or chat in my stream beacuse that would take to much time off the building time Click here for my Twitch Channel My Cities Skylines City A long long time ago there was a river where Otters used to live. Some people decide to live next tot that river and build a small dam and a few homes. Den Otterdam was born. The citizens long long time ago, decided to honor the litte Otter animals in there City Shield. Welcome to the city of Soon i am going to start with this city journal, mind that i do this for a hobby and that it is a ton of work to build a custom city in Cities Skylines with a lot of handplacing props and stuff.. Everything in the city is Dutch named but i will provide English translation. Also i need to make a lot screenshots, adjust them and then place them on the journal so stay tuned.. In the mean time you get a few nice teasers of Den Otterdam in progress (please keep in mind that it is a city in development)
  15. Hey guys so i've been wanting to start a new European City but every map i tried disappoints me.Is there any good ones please?
  16. I am glad to welcome you in the capital of the Guademian republic again. Today you will get acquainted with two more districts of the city (more correctly with their southern parts). This districts: Broonwick and Baydfall. Their southern parts border in the south on North Nord Fill and are divided by Weits River. These areas aren't so popular with tourists as they the historic center of the city, but at the same time aren't less interesting and not less important. These areas have the main important role for permanent residents of the capital, though to guests of the capital these areas can be remarkable (in particular some quarters of these areas). In these two areas some universities, the market, important administrative objects, the ministries, the former prison, and nowadays being the museum, one of terminals of a city-suburban electric train are located. This area is also crossed by the second boulevard ring(Friedrick Boulevard Ring) that does these areas by important transport hubs of the city. The most part of quarters of these areas is sleeping, but also there are some historical sights. These areas were included in structure of Norige Hills in 1896, and earlier were its suburbs. BROONWICK(south) Broonwick — the third district of Norige Hills. The southern part of the area (about which we speak today) adjoins to the central part of the city, as a part of Norige Hills is educated in the 19th century. Is the densely populated area with a set of municipal housing though there is a historical architecture (mainly in the southern part of the area which developed because of proximity to the city). It is known approximately since 1200.The area is located in the northwest of the central part of the city of Norige Hills. Occupies the space of 7,42 sq.km. This area is in the center of the municipal districts of Norige Hills. The area borders on the area Hadilston in the north, in the south borders on Nord Fill(northern part), the East borders on the district Baydfall. The Weast Borders on the district Nidhans. In the south it is separated from the district Nord Fill by the Weits River. In comparison with other central regions of the city, is rather planted trees and shrubs, thanks to big space in the southern part which is built up in the majority with municipal buildings. The area is most known for the concert hall built in 1979 in which there take place all main concerts of the country which are broadcast on all central channels of the country. It was constructed by Evgeny Bluming. In the territory of the area also the market with the name of the area of the same name is located. On the Clapham square Saint Rupert's and Virgil cathedral is located.Has been attached to the city in 1896, and earlier was the suburb of the capital. The big sleeping quarter Vauxhall has been built in the period of 1960-1970, instead of shabby housing, for working class. Sleeping quarter has been divided into two blocks. The block A settles down to the southwest of the area on the Weits River, overlooking the small park on quay. The quarter is crossed by a boulevard ring. This sleeping quarter has a convenient arrangement, thanks to existence of the main thoroughfare of the city and a wide choice of public transport (many bus and tram routes cross this quarter) therefore it is very convenient to inhabitants of this quarter to reach for work practically any point of the city. In Blok A also there is a kindergarten and school. There are playgrounds, parking spaces and several large supermarkets within walking distance. In the Block B there are two schools, 1 kindergarten, city policlinic. With the Block A it is divided by a Friedrick boulevard ring, and in the east it is limited to Marshwood Avenue which is in turn crossed with a boulevard ring. The Avenue is an important transport artery of the city, stretching from a northern part of a boulevard ring to the district Hadilston. According to the Marshwood Avenue trams and buses go. Also near a quarter the main concert hall of the city, and to the closest metro station of only 10 minutes on foot is located. Here is how in general quarter looks. As you see building of municipal buildings is mixed with historical buildings. It was affected by proximity to the historic center of the city. Therefore this area partially is sleeping (at least in the south which we discuss today) The cathedral is devoted to Saints Rupert and Virgil. The building is located to the East from the Marshwood Avenue, on the Clapham Square adjacent to a boulevard ring. The present structure is executed in Baroque style and has length 101 meters with a width of 45 meters. Height of the main building — 32 meters, dome height — 79 meters, height of towers — 81 meters. The cathedral has 11 altars, 5 bodies and a set of bells, the oldest of which have been cast in the XVI—XVII centuries. The principal organ belonging to 1703 has been replaced in 1988 with the new tool manufactured in Mikenstein. The cathedral has 900 seats, all at the same time can be in it to 10 thousand people. On the square the Ministry of Education is also located. There are always a lot of people. Tourists, students, citizens, shopaholics, constant guests of the area and nearby streets To the East from the area, parallel to it, one of the oldest universities of the country is located. To the middle of the 19th century, the building belonged to one rich aristocrat of that time, but after disintegration of the empire when the country became the republic, the government has decided to arrange in this building university. Near the Clapham Square there is an elite night club in which celebrities, athletes and other bohemians like to have a good time. On eastern frontier with the district Baydfall the market is located. It is the main market of the Broonwick, the smallest, but with the most wide choice of fresh vegetables, fruit, souvenirs and other goods. The market is located in a quarterWhitechapel. This quarter the headquarters of some corporations, some important administrative objects, such as tax authorities, the central district mail, several supermarkets and various retail stores also located. This quarter there are buildings built in the 17th century. Also private clinic. To the South of a quarter on the Weits River in 2001 the elite housing estate with own private parking, with football fields and tennis courts has been constructed. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays use of sports constructions is available to everyone (to residents of houses adjacent to sports constructions, it is free). In the south it is limited to Weits River, and in the north a Friedrick boulevard ring. BAYDFALL(South) Fourth district of Norige Hills. As well as Broonwick, is located is very subcentral therefore treats the central part of the city (we will discuss detailed administrative division of the capital soon and very in detail). In the area there is a pedagogical university with the big park adjacent to university and the football field, and also the large residential sleeping quarter which settled down on the river bank adjoins to the park from South side. Also in the area there is a medical research center, medical college, city clinical hospital, 3 schools and 2 kindergartens. The main thoroughfares the Vernand Avenue beginning at a royal garden in Nord Fill and stretching to northern border of the city. Also Ronkley Avenue which is crossed with the Vernand Avenue and stretches to the Marlhays district. These two important roads do this area by the important transport hub. Also thanks to the settling-down on the western border of the region of the Terminal A of a city-suburban electric train, the metro station 4 lines, terminal point of many bus routes and trams. The terminal is one of the main transport hubs of public transport. At the station square the station of a taxi is also located. From here it is possible to move conveniently around the city on public transport, it is convenient to reach any point of the city at any time. It is quite noisy area, cars, important administrative objects, for example the Ministry of Health is a lot of here. Here the dense population is enough. In the area there are no special sights therefore tourists are seldom and that in transit here, using the terminal as a starting point to other districts of the city. the terminal A is terminal and transit point for routes Bus: A13, A27,A84,A85,A67,A133,A95,A55, B33,B77,B150,B340a,B601,B89a,R50,R721,R11,R734, R677,R652a,C5,C9.C12,N63a,N98,N25 Tram: T3,T4,T7,T9,T10,T14,T18 Subway M4 City-suburban electric train SR1,SR2,SR3,3a,3b,SR4,SR9,9a,9b,SR10 (is more detailed about public transport of the capital and agglomeration you learns later, with detailed maps, explanations and routes) It is based on August 16, 1809 at the initiative of Wilhelm Gamboldt. In 1828 has received the name Wilhelm Gamboldt's University in honor of the famous philologist. Occupations at university have begun in 1810, 256 students have been at that time enlisted. In their 2008 there were 34 612. In the 19th century the university was one of the largest Sim National World scientific centers. The large inhabited massif built for people of middle class adjoins to the university park. To the East from the Vernand avenue, on the Friedrick Boulevard ring, to the West from the university park, one more dormitory area for people of middle class was located. In general all quarter (which the housing estate, university with the park and enters this white quarter) are quite prestigious quarter of the city The promised bonus in the form of a general panorama of the central part of the city: Island Garfield. In east part of the island you see the former prison in which the museum which is very popular with tourists nowadays is located. Here it is possible to reach by bus from the central station and from the Terminal A Next time you will see: The most prestigious, modern, bohemian district of the city after the historic center. Unusual skyscrapers, shopping centers, bohemian quarters and botanical garden

Hello, This is my first city, currently without a name. It's inspired by Cologne, Brussels, London and a pinch of Amsterdam. Currently a work in progress so if you guys like I can do updates and talk a bit about the history of the city. Hope you enjoy! And thanks for all the awesome mods and content... Tony
