joerg you should get yourself the new huge lighting rig from the BAT Workshop. If you have it, you need to make sure it is working with this building. It doesn't look like it is at the moment. LQ

Here is what your LOD could look like This is only for the LOD5 though. The others should be a simple box that encompases the entire model. LQ

Just in case you can't find it it's here: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?mode=viewtopic&topicID=45300&num=30&pageNo=13 It was ralphaelninja. Just to let you know also, check out my thread Shanghai World Financial Center you will find a elevated rail station that I did on the early pages (2-5 or something like that). Comment on the SWFC if you want as well. Comments are valued. Cheers and good luck, LQ

Thanks for replying so quickly to my last post. I have heard somewhere (I can't remember where, try asking Ralphealninja or someone) that you can edit the 'exchange cost' I think it is called, that is the preference of transit swaps within a lot! I think it was Ralphaelninja that has a load of experiments with it on one of his threads, perhaps his showcase thread. I'll try out that monorail only version. Cheers, LQ

I have a bit of a strange anomoly to report! I downloaded your monorail station (a very nice model indeed) and placed it in a few of my cities. I was very happy to see that it was being used near to capacity fairly quickly, untill I used the route query tool! I found that the peopole using the monorail station were indeed just passing through it, and not actually using the monorail!!! This I found very frustrating, and started checking the other places where I had placed your wonderful station. Sure enough, it seems that most of the trafic through the station was indeed not monorail trafic!!! It was more frustrating now as I was trying to make a functional monorail network. I don't seem to be able to get the people to travel on the monorail through your station!. Is there anything you can do? I would fiddle with the station myself if I had a clue what I was doing, but alas I do not, so I rely on someone else to fix the problem. Regards, LQ

Hey xannepan if you want to know how to make neon lights (or the best thing I can come up with) make a texture that has the design that you want to show as the neon light in the colour that you want it, and make the background of the texture black try this out as an example; apply this texture to a target direct light, and call the light nitelite so that it will only come on at night. this is what you should get: day left, night right. looks ok to me. If you need a hand with this, PM me. LQ

I love the journal, you have a brilliant way to tell the story. I was looking at your logging yard, what a brilliant idea, you should have put a crane (from my crane props) or two in so that they can move the loggs around easyier. Keep it i[ mate. LQ

Poole, Diamond and Associates BAT Showcase

That is looking loads better! I do like the night lighting now. There are a few personal preferances: I would prefere the roof to be a shiny metal i.e. standing seam aluminium or something. But it is not important; I aslo think that a little work to make a real geometry 'lobby' would have been benificial, so that there was a bit more detail on the ground floor. Again, not needed, but it would have added something special. Great improvements guys. LQ -
Hi all, I thought I would let y'all know that Canada 1 is happily rendering away in the background. It started at 7.30pm last night (uk time) and it is nearly finished zoom 5 (8.00am uk time now). I hope it should be done by this evening! EmergentFungus: in the pic below, I think you should soften the spotlights by using two things. You need to add some falloff to the lights to make them look less hard edged, also I would recomend setting the Decay type (of the spotlights) to Inverse, the start to about 5, and checking the box show, so you can see the effect radius. Find all this in the Attenuation Parameters in the Modify tab for the light. It should give the lights a softer more reallistic feel. I hope someone checks this thread fairly soon. What I am looking for is a tool that randomly selects polygons from selected objects! I don't really want to have to seperate each individual window into a seperate object. I hope someone can point me in the right direction. If this is what this pluggin actually does someone tell me I'm stupid! I am a bit lazy and can't be bothered to read all of this thread. As far as I did read this script only randomly selects from a group of selected objects. Cheers all. LQ

I just thought I would comment on the lighting (as I am the one who set it up for Fungus). The lower lighting has been edited since the pic above so that is much better now. As for the roof lighting, I wanted to try to get near to the effect in the photograph below. I also have seen the tower with a kind of bright mist coming form the pyramid. This is what I was trying to achieve. width=640 align=left border=2> Oh, and I am going to try to re-render it, setting the render off on friday eventing, so it might be done by saturday night. LQ

Man you seem to get stressed about a bad score!!! Look, never mind a bad score, I tried really hard with my lots, (swfc construction site, windmill, centre point..) but none recieved the flashing stars! However, when I released some quick props (construction site cranes) I go the flashing stars! I think it just shows that it doesn't really matter! And I do understand that you: [bEGINQUOTE]
