  1. TSS Lorina? [Solved]

Howdy friends, So I found this file for a vessel TSS Lorina. In the description, it says its a ploppable item. Even over water. I figured like a park lot or something. However, I don't think it is because when I unzip and drop into the Plugins, it's just a solitary file. It doesn't show any other files like a lot file or anything. Instructions say to just unzip the file and place in Plugins. It doesn't show up in gameplay. It's not in any of the mayor menus. I tried to look it up in Lot Editor but it's not there either so I don't think it's a lot file. What sort of file is this? How do I get this item to work in gameplay? I feel kinda dumb but I'm stumped! lol

SMS ERSATZ YORCK – Ersatz Yorck Class Battlecruiser Ersatz Yorck – Ersatz Gneisenau – Ersatz Scharnhorst – Ersatz Friedrich Carl 33,500 tons – 227.8 m (747 ft) length – 30.4 m (99 ft) beam – 9.3 m (31 ft) draft – 27.3 knots – complement: 47 officers and 1,180 men – 8x38cm (15-in) guns – 12x15cm (5.9-in) guns – 8x8.8cm (3.5-in) guns – 3x 60cm (24-in) torpedo tubes – belt armor up to 300mm (11.8 in). The three Ersatz Yorck Class ships were originally intended to be part of the preceding Mackensen Class battlecruisers, and were to be named after cruisers that had already been lost in action (hence the “ersatz” designation). But before the final three keels could be laid, Naval Intelligence “upset the apple cart”. Ersatz Friedrich Carl had already been laid down and construction was well advanced when reports began coming in from England, indicating the British were building two battlecruisers to be equipped with 15-inch guns – the Renown Class. Not even a month before this shocking news, word had come from the German Naval Attache in Washington D.C. regarding the US Navy. They were planning six battlecruisers of the Lexington Class – really “big bruisers” armed with 16-inch rifles. It was clear Ersatz Yorck’s 14-inch weapons would be far outclassed. The preceding Mackensen Class was already too far along to contemplate changes, so the remaining three ships of the class were redesigned to accommodate 15-inch guns and designated the Ersatz Yorck Class. Laid down in 1915, SMS Erstaz Yorck became an “abandoned step-child” of the Kaiserliche Marine. Only the midships portion of the lower hull was completed before the changing nature of the naval war brought work to a halt. Repairs to warships damaged by gunfire, torpedoes, or mines, put increasing demands on vital resources and pushed the shipyards beyond their capacity. U-Boats became critical to the war effort and drained scarce man-hours and manufacturing skills away from warship construction. Work on Ersatz Yorck was halted, then abandoned entirely. The other two ships were never laid down, and the small portion of Ersatz Yorck on the slipway was broken up before the war ended. But on the bright side – the design work that went into Ersatz Yorck was not wasted. When design started on the KM Scharnhorst in 1928 (launched 1936), they pulled out the old plans of the Ersatz Yorck as a starting point. So, by installing this pack nothing will directly appear in your game. You can use the props on your own lots or convert the SC4models into buildings, as you please. Since most props are to be used on water lots and props naturally align with the surface level, they will sink to the sea floor, if you do not stick to the guidelines on how to use props on water lots. Finally you will need to follow the instructions on how to make a lot transparent. You will find the props in any Lot-Editor under the prefix A_1P_h_ As per request from the community, I have also included a version of the ship without historic flags and crew. Please visit @Dreadnought's CJ to get detailed descriptions and the historical backgrounds to these prop packs. You will see a wonderful display of the results of our long collaboration there and can get a preview of what might be hidden in the coming prop packs or simply get some inspiration for your own harbour!

This set contains various lots to build your own (sort of) realistic looking coal- and ore yards and port facilities. Included in this set are: - 2 cranes to unload coal and ore from large bulk carriers. - 2 ship loaders to transfer coal and ore to smaller vessels. - 2 bucket wheel excavators, used for transferring ore to and from temporary storage lots. - a silo used for loading ore on trains. - Large concrete silo's. - 1 large ship. - 7 lots with ore and coal heaps. - various lots with single, double, triple or quadruple conveyor belts, to transport ore and coal. - various miscellanious lots to spice up your coal yard. Most of the models sit on 1x1 lots, with parts overhanging, to make it easier to combine them and run roads or railways through them. All of these lots are eye candy only; so that means none of them are functional. The lots can be found in the Parks menu, and are grouped together. The seawalls in the pictures are not included in this set, but the cranes and ship are placed in such a way on their lots that they fit nicely with this particular set of seawalls. The ship model is offset from the center, so that it appears very close to the seawall. I am not entirely satisfied by some of the textures, especially the coal, ore and sand textures. So when (if) I manage to improve my texturing skills, I'll try to update some of the lots in this set, or add new ones. And no nightlights for now. I would suggest using some of the excellent prop sets out there to further add detail to the lots. Cutty Sark Cutty Sark is, quite possibly, the most famous clipper ship ever built – rivalled only by her legendary competitor Thermopylae. Originally ordered for the Jock Willis Shipping Line, she was built on the River Leven, in Dumbarton, Scotland, and laid down in 1869. Cutty Sark was intended for the China tea trade, which required fast ships, and she was among the fastest – if not THE fastest. The era of the “China Clippers” went into the history books as the most romantic and inspiring days in the Age Of Sail. The sleek, graceful, ships with their towering masts and mountains of white, billowing canvas were truly thrilling sights to behold – even to the seasoned old mariners they left in their wakes as they raced across the southern seas. The famous clipper displaced 2,100 tons, with a hull length of 212 feet – her bowsprit added another 68 feet to the bow to carry a full array of head sails. Her 36-foot beam gave her a length-to-width ratio of just over 5-1, and her unusually sharp bow is credited with providing her speed. Her crew of approximately 35 men could hoist a spread of 32,000 square feet of canvas which, in a stiff wind, could drive her through the water at an amazing 17.5 knots. “AP” has provided a variety of Cutty Sark models – six in all -- both “ortho” and diagonal – as well as under sail, moored, and with or without crew aboard. This model is a true “work of art” and we hope you will enjoy it. (For a more complete history of Cutty Sark – see IMPERIAL DOCKYARDS: CUXHAVEN – Chapter 19.) 8. AGC - HMS Devonshire 1942

    Version 1.0.0

    584 Downloads

History: HMS Devonshire, pennant number 39, was a County-class heavy cruiser of the London sub-class built for the Royal Navy in the late 1920s. The ship spent most of her pre-World War II career assigned to the Mediterranean Fleet aside from a brief tour with the China Station. She spent the first two months of the Second World War in the Mediterranean until she was transferred to the Home Fleet and became flagship of a cruiser squadron. Devonshire took part in the Norwegian Campaign in mid 1940 and evacuated much of the Norwegian Government in June. Several months later, she participated in the Battle of Dakar, a failed attempt to seize the Vichy French colony of Senegal in September. The ship remained in the South Atlantic afterwards and supported Free French efforts to take control of French Equatorial Africa in addition to searching for German commerce raiders. Devonshire returned home in early 1941 and briefly rejoined the Home Fleet, during which time she escorted several aircraft carriers as they attacked German forces in Norway and Finland and covered the first convoy to the Soviet Union. Shortly afterwards, the ship was sent to the South Atlantic where she sank the auxiliary cruiser Atlantis. Devonshire was then assigned to the Eastern Fleet in the Indian Ocean and supported the Allied invasion of Madagascar in mid-1942. She then spent the next year escorting convoys before returning home to begin a lengthy refit. After it was completed in early 1944, the ship escorted various aircraft carriers for the rest of the war as they attacked targets in Norway. Specs: The file contains an 13x2 lot. 9. A return home

Welcome back! Hello everyone. I am ready to resume city journaling and I'm sorry for the wait. My lap top has received a well-deserved maintenance and it looks like it works fine now. I also had some challenges at work... My trial period was drawing to a close and I had to be very diligent and careful to get a permanent contract. Luckily, it has been extended for an indefinite period, so I made it. Now then, if you don't have any plans for this morning / afternoon / night, I would like to present you with another episode of SimCity:Tribalism. We jump right back where we left off and we shall see how the Gridlayer and Slacker friendship is developing. Enjoy. After the Slacker vessels rescued Gridlayer explorers from the troubled waters outside of Cape Careless, the castaways have been steadily recovering from their injuries. Once they were cured, Gridlayers spent two wonderful months rehabilitating in the Slackers' tropical city. The guests were allowed to roam the city freely and visit its landmarks. Local, volunteer guides have also been actively helping the guests to orient around the island too. However, all good things come to an end and after two months of rehabilitation (which finished with a mighty hangover) The Gridlayer explorers have been offered a lift back to their hometown. STS Rain - one of the ships involved in the rescue - was departing for Brazil and Sly Strattle, the captain, expressed his willingness to stop by in Port MacGavran-Wright to deliver The Gridlayers back home. When the day finally came, STS Rain departed from Cape Careless Cargo Terminal. What is more, a delegation of Slackers have formed and it was tasked with the job of networking with the Gridlayer decision-makers and gathering contacts for further cooperation. During the departure, The Gridlayer crew aboard was deeply moved to see Slackers lining up along the shores, waving them goodbye and shouting out wishes and Sulkourbanist blessings for the crew. Many sailboats have also joined STS Rain at the beginning of its journey. Quite a sendoff... Eventually, the cargo vessel reached open sea, heading West. After a short trip, STS Rain came within the hailing distance of Port MacGavran-Wright's seaport which, as The Gridlayers informed, was called "Kearney Sea Terminal". The captain picked up the port's authority frequency and relied the following message: - Attention Kearney Sea Terminal, this is Slacker Tribe Ship "Rain" captain Sly Strattle speaking. We are requesting the permission to enter your port. We are fellow Udananians who would like to make an accquaintance with you and we brought friends! Standing next to me is Captain Aelerim Strubillir with his entire crew! I think you have been missing them... A rather long silence followed which made STS Rain's captain repeat the message but he was interrupted mid-sentence by a voice of a traffic controller from Kearney. - Slacker Tribe Ship "Rain", welcome... Ahm... You said Captain Strubillir? From Gridlayer Ship "Navigator"? Over? - Positive Kearney! - replied the officer - he's right next to me. - STS Rain, this ship has been missing for months... We are a little surprised. - I fully understand Kearney and yes - GS "Navigator" sank off our coast. Our vessels fished your people out of the sea - they are well and alive! Now then, could you please provide us with a pilot or pier number? These guys are so eager to return home that they are ready to jump over the railing and swim ashore if you keep holding us in the roadstead! Said Strattle and chuckled. After a brief discussion, Kearney Sea Terminal authorities have given STS Rain a green light to enter port and even sent out a pilot to aid the huge Slacker vessel enter the harbor. Eventually, the ship moored at the port's Northern pier. Port authority officials have poured into the terminal, curious about the return of GS Navigator's crew and the arrival of unusual guests... The next day, Slacker visit to Port MacGavran-Wright became more of an official event as the Slacker delegation was invited for a breakfast and coffee in the Gridlayer town hall. Afterwards, a couple of volunteers offered to give the guests a detailed tour around their town and explain its specificities. Given the fact that it was one of the first interactions between these two tribes, entire tour has been recorded for future reference. Below, you can find the transcript of it... Dear Friends, we now begin the trip around our beautiful town that we promised you yesterday. Before we start, I would like to once again express our gratitude for the rescue of our brothers and sisters from GS Navigator. We are in your debt and you will remain in our hearts! Let's take this friendly walk around Port MacGavran-Wright together! First of all, I would like to point your attention to the Town Hall building where our official breakfast took place. The building was erected on the 30th anniversary of our town. The building and its interior have been designed by a French architect known as "Cyclone Namarie". Just across the avenue, you can also see a small entertainment district where many of us like to chill out. This area is a part of the Zermil residential district where better-situated residents live. As you can see, this area features some elegant parks and a wide beach area. Of course, most of the parks have simple, traditional designs as we don't like to experiment with the urban tissue - we always believe that cities are just to precious to treat them as "test subjects"... Zermil is located East of our Town Hall. What lies to the West? Another two residential districts. One is a low-income neighborhood of Jodeleje. Until 18th century, Jodeleje has just been... an empty space. Large pastures located in this area have allowed our ancestors to become skilled husbandry experts. However, most of these activities fizzled out after two consecutive epidemics of equine influenza in the early 19th century. When this happened, most of the farmers have requalified and started to work in the fishing industry and port facilities in the North, setting their agricultural past completely aside. A little further West, one can find the Falstaff Beach area. It is largely considered to be a splinter zone of Jodeleje and has been established around 9 Y.O.U.S by those, who did not like the dense, highly-urbanized landscape of Jodeleje. I believe that by now you have already noticed that most of our city is built on a perfect 7x7 or 6x6 grids. It is a very basic but, in our opinion, easy and efficient way to build a city. Tradition-centric city building, with clear divisions and predictable road layout, is the guarantee of a successful community. Learn from the history to have a peaceful future! This is also visible in the way we arrange developer zones in our town. As you can see, residential areas are located far away from the polluting industry which sits at the Northern tip of our island. Commercial areas are in the middle of the city and along European Avenue - the busiest and largest throughway in Port MacGavran-Wright. Speaking of the service sector, the neighborhood of Hamartael is our main shopping and entertainment center. It consists of several large shopping malls including our home brand named "Clas-Buy". The Western part of Hamartael is generally a shopping center while the Eastern part is a restaurant and leisure zone. There is also the industrial zone which was the first part of our town that you saw. We have several important facilities here including gas and oil terminal, small chemical refineries and seaport terminals. Though we have to admit that we rarely receive ships as big as yours! Our tradition-based city models are also visible in the way in which we build our communication networks. Note that "streets" and "network widening" elements are lacking. The city is communicated by a central avenue. A simple but effective rail system is present. Of course, we are aware of modern solutions like trams or monorail, but we don't use them here. Last but not least, we also have one important natural landmark in the form of Thrushfall Peak. The highest point of our island which is 198 meters above sea level. Our town is fairly small and has about 12000 inhabitants. However now, with your help and the entire space available in New Udanani, we hope that our capital won't be the only Gridlayer city! We hope that you liked this little tour and that you find Port MacGavran-Wright pleasing to the eye! Feel free to return here, anytime you wish! By the way, I would just like to assure you that The Slackers have acknowledged the results of the last vote by The Revered Spirits of the St'ropoli Dimension to build "The Mirror of Seeing" to honor The Expansion of Udanani. Your patience is highly encouraged though, given how low the work is in the Slacker system of values... It may take a while before the construction begins. Right now, building site is just a lonely digger surrounded by some portaloos! Thanks for stopping by!
  10. A daring rescue - Part I

It was an early summer afternoon in Cape Careless and the yachts and sailboats have been out in force all over the harbor with their crews enjoying sunny weather and snacks out at sea. The day was generally peaceful and a constant (almost boring one could say) Northwestern breeze made it possible for even inexperienced captains to enjoy a successful sailing session in ideal weather conditions. However, at about 4pm, the skies over Cape Careless started to darken a bit. First, a milky overcast has covered the visible horizon, reducing sun to a bright, blurred spot. Later, however, the clouds transformed into a rather unpleasant, lead-colored curtain. Shortly before 6pm the first lightning struck the surface of the water, making it abundantly clear to one and all that it was time to bail and set course for the nearest port... At first, most of the ships started to calmly converge on the mouth of Flapjack's Stormalong Marina and Country Club, creating orderly queues along the waterways... However, as the number of slips available started to shrink, the tempers flared... Sailors who entered the port a bit too late, started to perform dangerous stunts and picked up fights in order to moor their boats in preferred spots. This created an absurd, chaotic spectacle which was promptly accompanied by the sounds of thunderclaps from an impending storm. The important thing though, was that everyone was within the port's limits and safe... as long as they were agile enough to dodge beer bottles being hurled at them by irate seamen. However, there was yet one more vessel cutting through the rising waves. Having learned through the radio that Flapjack's Stormalong Marina was at the brink of riots, Skylark II was sailing towards Courageous Flynn's Docks. The crew have decided to moor with the small marina as it wasn't wise to seek other options in such a bad weather. While poorly sheltered, Courageous Flynn's Docks has at least offered safety, shore leave and a warm tavern nearby. However, when the Slackers aboard Skylark II prepared to drop sails and cover the remaining distance with the engine, their radio suddenly went on and a frantic voice blurted out the following message over an emergency channel... The crew of Skylark II, chilled by the desperate call for help, looked questioningly at the captain - Pierse Toonleigh. He was not just a regular yacht owner but an active-duty second officer aboard STS (Slacker Tribe Ship) "Long Haul" container vessel. He also knew international laws regarding rescue at sea very well. The call for help was genuine and he could not afford to ignore it. The crew of Skylark II jumped to the rigging and prepared the boat for an insanely risky mission. The course to the last known location of the sinking ship was set and Pierse and his crew promptly sailed by Courageous Flynn's Docks. Then, made a tack to continue sailing with the gusty Northwestern wind... The journey was difficult due to the wind coming directly from the location of the distressed vessel. Alyssa was thus forced to beat to windward, using series of medium or long tacks to keep approaching the target and maintain the speed in worsening weather conditions. After about an hour of navigating through rough seas, the wind changed and started blowing from the West, allowing Skylark II to finally stabilize course at close-hauled port tack. At roughly the same time, the crew noticed another sailboat, about 1/3 NM away from them to the North. Pierse, who continued to command his crew while being constantly smacked in the face by thick rain, stopped and reached for his binoculars. He took a good, long look at the unit running the same course as Skylark II. Then, looking relieved, he walked to the radio and started the following exchange. - Cirrus V, you're back with us?! - Yeah! Just like in the old days! Pierse heard a familiar voice. It was Ranald Dooles - a chief mate with whom Pierse had made several voyages to Wilhelmshaven. People felt safe around Dooles - an old sea wolf and experienced crewmember. As it turned out, he has also intercepted the rescue call and was steaming towards the accident with his friend onboard to help the sinking ship. - Cirrus V, let's match speeds so we can get there together. It should be safer this way. - Negative Skylark II! - replied Dooles - it looks like you have a greater SOG [speed over ground] than us. Just go in first, every minute counts! We'll just follow your lights. Don't worry, we'll manage. - Understood, you are right. Try to keep us in your sights and let us know in case you need help! Skylark II - over and out. About 30 minutes later and in what was already an all-out gale, the crew of Skylark II suddenly noticed a bright light darting across the sky. They were close and the sinking ship was shooting a signal flare into the ink-black sky. Skylark II corrected the course and approached the accident area with Cirrus V trailing behind. As it turned out, yet another Slacker ship was already on the scene. A relieved container ship (aptly named STS Rain) has been aligning herself with the sinking vessel and preparing for a rescue operation just as Skylark II approached from another side. After a quick radio exchange, captains of both ships have agreed to the rescue plan. Two crew members from each ship were supposed to board GS Navigator, help the crew out and then use STS Rain's liferaft to transfer the injured aboard the container vessel. The crew of Cirrus V was to provide an overwatch and react to any unexpected turn of events. Once the castaways have been secured, all of the Slacker ships have readied for departure. Due to the ravaging strom, the captain of STS Rain has decided to assist Cirrus V and Skylark II with tow lines, relieving the crews of these vessels from having to fight their way back to Lagmi Shi Island. GS Navigator has been lost to the sea, but all hands have made it out alive. At around half past 10 p.m., STS Rain reached the safety of Cape Careless. The ship has disconnected the tow lines and the brave, but tired, crews of Skylark II and Cirrus V limped into the mouth of Flapjack's Stormalong Marina. The passing storm was still thundering around Cape Careless, but now it was safe to unfurl the sails again. Conversely, STS Rain has thrown the anchor within the roadstead and again used their liferaft to move the injured mariners to the nearby beach where medical services have already been waiting to receive and treat the wounded. Once everyone has been accounted for, STS Rain signed off, and the crew of GS Navigator has been admitted to the nearby hospital. Marking the end of their harrowing adventure. To be continued... Comment replies: @kkffoo - It's indeed somewhat challenging - let's just hope I won't succumb to a multipolar disorder! I consider myself a Slacker though, so I have a pretty determined identity. I'm happy that you appreciate the cities layout. It's a very interesting work and greatly the NAM's merit - it really makes cities more interesting. @TogaMasterJohn - Well, the important thing is you came back but it's true - I noticed you have been missing from the forums for some time. Are you sure you still want to moor with CCFSAM?

  12. Simtropolis Shipyard

LAST UPDATED: 16/07/2023 Hiya all together, As some of you may be aware of, I have been into creating BATs for a while now and am currently invested in a major project with @Dreadnought creating historic naval content. Most of my published content is linked to the wind and offshore industry, but I am really impressed by all sorts of vessels and always keen to improve the variety of our offshore content and bring unique additions to the game. I know we have a few people who are interested in this topic as well, and there are some great ships out there by @Barroco Hispano. I decided to start this topic to display some of my work in intermediate creation stages and in angles that would normally not be seen in the ship (and I want to avoid spamming all of you in "Show us what you're working on" with endless pictures of ships ) I would encourage anyone else who is interested in this topic to post suggestions/inquiries/ideas or their own creations on here as well! The range of ships goes from offshore construction vessels over sailboats, submarines to historic battle cruisers. So really everything is welcome here. Also, for myself I will start a register listing all my ships under here CONTENT LIST Historic ships Armoured Cruisers SMS Victoria Louise (1897) SMS Hertha (1897) SMS Freya (1897) SMS Vineta (1897) SMS Hansa (1898) SMS Fürst Bismarck (1897) SMS Prinz Heinrich (1900) SMS Prinz Adalbert (1901) SMS Friedrich Carl (1902) SMS Roon (1903) SMS Yorck (1904) SMS Scharnhorst (1906) SMS Gneisenau (1906) SMS Blücher (1908) Battlecruisers SMS Moltke (1910) SMS Göben (1911) SMS Seydlitz (1912) SMS Hindenburg (1915) Submarines M-class Submarines Type U23 sub U 139 Class Fleet Colliers Prometheus-class Collier (1908) Jupiter-class Collier (1912) USS Vestal (1908) Tug boats Harbour Tugs (Midgard, Asgard, Thor, Odin) Power Tugs (Nordwind, Passat) Deep-sea Salvage Tugs (Langeoog, Spiekeroog) Wheel Tugs (Sophia, Esmeralda, Helena) Sail boats Schooners Sloops Barque (Maria) Brig Clipper (Cutty Sark) Modern era ships SAR cruiser (Ernst-Meier-Hedde) Pilot boat Cable Laying Vessel - CLV Wind Turbine Installation Vessel - WIV (and many more that need to be listed...) Boaty McBoatFace, by Mattb325 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A simple, older-style passenger boat to decorate your waterways. It is found in the water transit menu. It has a transparent base texture to allow the sea-floor to show through (useful when you want to plop the model near the shore-line). It requires no power, water, etc and has no monthly cost. To install, simply unzip the file into your plugins. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All credit to the model maker - link provided in the file information section (I merely textured the file and made a few tweaks to make it game ready).

  23. @Quboid just released this long awaited mod: Basically it increases the time a cargo train or ship waits at the map border to load requested goods (it is invisible while doing that). It also makes Industries' warehouses more meaningful because if the wait time is set to a high value, factories and power plants will run out of goods, and warehouses work as a buffer. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1721492498

The Container Terminal is the main point for all general cargo transshipment handlings. The Container Terminal as an important transit point for transport of bulk and other goods between the European continent and the Principauté. The port is operated by the Port de Caravella Port Authority, originally a municipal body of Port de Caravella, but since 1 January 2004, a government corporation jointly owned by Port de Caravella and the Principauté de Caravella-Guatalaga. @feyss @JP Schriefer @mike_oxlong @kschmidt @_Michael @whiteshark365 @vinlabsc3k @kingofsimcity @Urban Constanta @Ln X @raynev1 : Merci! Next to the Container Terminal is also the Cruise Ship Terminal which can accomodate small and medium cruise ships that visit the Principauté de Caravella-Guatalaga on a regular basis. If you like it, let me know!
