  1. Here's the old town part my city: Right next to it, some villas and commercial zones, and pedestrian mall streets.
  2. Alijstar - The Venice of the North

Hi everyone! Time has come for a real update of Alijstar, also known by tourists as 'the Venice of the North'. I advice you to make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and install you comfortably, because there are more pictures than usual 20. ALIJSTAR - THE VENICE OF THE NORTH 1. Let's begin our tour of Alijstar with one of the city's main location: The Liberty Square (Vrijheidsplein). This important place has always been the central point of the city. It's indeed here, during the Middle-Ages and Renaissance, that merchants from all over the known world unloaded their precious shipment. Since then, the city has never lost its commercial identity, even if the harbour facilities moved a bit outside the city centre. 2. Next to this square, you can find the Ducal Palace and the Our Lady Church. 3. Not far from here is located the Municipal Theatre. 4. 5. 6. In this densely urbanised city, canals offer some fresh air and some greenery to its citizens. 7. The former Grand Moulins factory, now used as the city's Modern Art Museum. 8. 9. The Old Harbour Station. Well, you can't actually see the harbour but it's for another update 10. 11. St. Catherine's Church 12. 13. 14. Diagonal canals, yeah! 15. 16. The St. Rumbold's Cathedral, part of UNESCO World Heritage. 17. 18. Despite the quiet feeling that the canals could give, Alijstar is a bit noisy city. The highway is for instance not far. 19. But less forget the noise and come back where tourists prefer to spend their time: the St. Peter's Church and its surroundings. 20. 21. Summer seems obviously like a good idea, but autumn is also a nice season to visit the city. 22. 23. 24. 25. 26. 27. Some random shots. 28. 29. 30. 31. More general views: 32. 33. 34. 35. 36. 37. 38. And finally... I hope you enjoyed all those pictures - REPLIES - @_Michael I'm glad this gives you inspiration! Thanks for your enthusiasm! @KRMill09 A bit of 50/50. I usually plop most of the buildings on the corners and let it grow in the middle of each row. Thank you for the comment! @kschmidt I try to build every churches from my plugin folder each time I build a new city! Because it's how an European city is supposed to look like. Thanks a lot for the comment! @Themistokles Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like it that way! @rathefalcon Yeah indeed, 5GB of plugins! Most of the time, those who designed train networks tried to avoid as much as possible steep slopes, it's why I try do do it that way. Thank you too for the nice words! @Akallan Thank you too for the comment! Yeah I often have abandoned buildings when it's Work in progress, or here when it's unfinished! @Odainsaker Thank you too! That's how I try to build my avenues! @kelistmac Thank you too my friend! I really tried to make this river part of the city's identity, instead of just being an annoying bunch of water in the middle of the city. Of course, Xannepan's banks help a lot! @sunda Thank you too! @TekindusT Thanks a lot! @weixc812 Thank you! @raynev1 This game is so frustrating indeed... I wonder why I still play it. I must be masochist... Thanks a lot for the comment! @dc'smycity Thanks a lot! @Takingyouthere Thank you too! Yeah, sometimes you only need a few buildings to make it look great! @123deoliveira4 Well, here it is. Thanks for the comment!
  3. Oldville

View Album One of these places that seems to have been there ever since... We enter through the south side, passing through some little villages first... The reason for all the hops... Looking at Master Murimk's growing empire (rumors say he'll challenge Mayor Paeng next election)... Tourists just love to shop here... ... before retiring to their rented apartments... The residents are generally pretty well situated and satisfied... Along the canals there are still some pretty dirty industrials... The seedier part of town around the region's prison compound... And the southern basin, where adult movie theatres and shops still hold their own... There is still some logging going on, though cutting more trees ain't popular with the locals... Oldville at night... Thanks for the visit! :-)

  5. I recently recovered my trusty old Power Mac G4 MDD (PPC), after installing Mac OS X Tiger and playing around with it I installed Sim City 4 for mac on it. It runs great (with the Rush Hour addon) but I soon run into the traffic problems the default version has. I'm looking to install NAM, but unfortunately the latest NAM for mac doesn't run since my mac OS X is to old or since I'm running this on a native PPC. I've been looking on the web for an older version of NAM which would work in PPC versions of OS X. (I didn't expect the recent versions to work on this old OS) Does anyone know if Nam was even released for these powerpc macs? And would it still be possible to download this?
  6. Old city

    From the album Lindenboro

  7. Hello guys! I've been playing Cities Skylines since the release, but i just got the right hardware to make mods in a short period of time by now. I have knowledge in Blender and all the basic workflow for the assets, and my first big project would be a couple of old vehicles, this can be a good feature for just certain circumstances (like eye-candy shots or zoom-out gameplay) because of the already know lack of animations for vehicles (as need for the horses). But i'm really excited about this! Maybe there is someone to help too with this project for old 1700's-1800's cities? Thanks

  9. This website is broken?

Why is it so frustrating to find what you need here? The search sucks and is pretty much useless, any link from before 2011 for some reason DOES NOT WORK, so you have almost no luck getting dependencies for older files. I'm trying to download this casino and the dependency link is broken and the name of the dependency is unknown so i can't google it. Also several files have MISSING download buttons. Who runs this place? Does anyone care? It's freaking irritating because i can't even find help for these issues because nothing shows up on google either. Here is an example: WHY IS THERE NO DOWNLOAD BUTTON? WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN FIXED? Also this: Click the link he posted for the dependency to find your dead-end. This is just two examples off the top of my head i just encountered.

  11. In the South Nord Fill and Inner City ,are also divided by an Old Boulevard Ring, as however in the West and in the East. Only the northern part of the area is divided by the channel of the river, but is more detailed about it next time. Western Nord Fill has great success in tourists and citizens as in this part of the area important city objects are concentrated, sights, well and the well-known Quarter of Fashion in which smart boutiques of the most famous brands of clothes, footwear and accessories are located. Here too the tram final stop settles down. Across this area there passes the branch of the subway, the first line. Western Nord Fill one of the most prestigious districts of the city. In this area very expensive housing. Also here very low indicator of crime, doing this area to one of the safest and comfortable for life. In the area one of the oldest hospitals in the city settles down. Many rich people: famous musicians, artists, architects, actors and other bohemians, preferred this area for accommodation. Before you get acquainted with Western Nord Fill, I will present to your attention the remained shots of Southern Nord Fill which didn't show last time. Wide foot Wareston boulevard. Till 1995 on the boulevard transport went, but in 1995 council of city municipality was decided to turn the transport boulevard into the foot. It was a necessary measure as the square on which the cathedral settles down adjoins to the boulevard. This one of the places which are most visited by tourists in the city. Because of a big flow of people, on boulevards there were never-ending traffic jams which very much disturbed the movement in this place. Also numerous transport incidents in it the area became one of the main reasons for transformation of the transport boulevard in foot. Now it is completely pedestrian zone, with green plantings and metro station. The boulevard connects an Old Boulevard Ring and Friedrick Boulevard Ring. To the tourists leaving the subway the beautiful Gothic St.Patrick Cathedral which is settling down on the square of the same name the Catholic temple in the center of Norige Hills, one of symbols of the Guademian capital. Settles down in a quarter Rompton,on the Patrick square . Construction of a cathedral began in 1128, with the architect Josh Wares and ended already in 1306. As this was already told earlier, one of the most visited places by tourists The high comprehensive school Is the biggest high school in the center of the capital. Because of too dense building of the downtown and deficiency of the free area, in the downtown practically there are no big schools, with big sports grounds. This school is an exception, as well as one of the very first schools of the city. It was constructed by the famous writer Remindton who very strongly loved the work and wanted that the school constructed on its money served a good cause. The school settles down in a quarter Rompton, surrounded with houses. Sideways from school there is a small market. So! Now we pass to acquaintance with Western Nord Fill The Western Nord Fill begins with a pedestrian Boulwane street and the building of the Ministry of Finance. This multystoried modern building which was built in 1993 as the old building in which the ministry settled down became unsuitable and was demolished at the end of 1992. To tourists this area is uninviting architecture, but is interesting by little shops of souvenirs, settling down on a pedestrian street. In the area settles down not only the ministry of financial affairs, but also stock exchange and the tax inspection. These buildings, as well as the Ministry of Finance are in a Administrative quarter. There passes the tram - a pedestrian street which connects Friedrick Bouleard Ring with Old Bouleard Ring. Here pass three tram routes:T2,T4,T5 the senatorial palace is built in 1961 under the leadership of the architect John Rombolley. Settles down in administrative quarter, adjoins to an old boulevard ring Behind the senatorial palace the administrative park with playgrounds settles down The architectural monument representing the big solemnly issued arch. the monument in the Western Nord Fill in the Fashion Quarter of Norige Hills on Revival Square built in 1806 — 1836 by the architect Jean Goupston according to imperor Carlos order in commemoration of victories of its Great army. Pearl of this area: fashion Quarter. Here fashionable luxurious boutiques of exclusive brands of clothes, footwear and accessories settle down. Architecture and design of some boutiques it is possible to compare to works of art. Many tourists first of all, coming to the city, hurry exactly here, especially in the period of seasonal discounts. Rich residents frequenters of this area. Very often here it is possible to meet the well-known people. Here it is possible to find everything that the soul of the experienced shopaholic can wish... Such well-known brands as:Giorgio Armani,Gucci,Fendi,Burberry,Versace,Prada,Enrico Coveri,Mauro Grifoni,Valentino,Hugo Boss,Louis Vuitton,Chanel,Christian Loubotin,Dior,Christian Lacroix.Paco Rabanne,Marc Jacobs,John Richmond,PAtrizia Peppe,Guess,Tommy Hilfiger,Dolce &Gabbana,John Varvatos,Oscar de la Renta,Elie Saab,Dirk Bikkembergs,La Perla,Moschino,Cesare Paciotti,Salvatore Ferragamo,Brunello Cuycinelli and other. At the left two buildings. With an orange roof it is Chanel, to the left of it Dior Well and finally, tram final stop of routes: T3,T7,T9 PS: Next time you will see a map of the city... Administrative division of areas, transport card, main streets and prospectuses, information on the city and general review of two main districts of the city. At present I already on a half of a way. To fast meetings. Thanks to all who comments.
  12. Barlow P3

The district of Barlow endured a harrowing time with the transformation of the major part of it's oil industry. Two legs of a highway ending in Barlow have been brought together with the sole purpose of giving the industry our best transportation options. On a side note, Cousin Carl accepted a national car enthusiast's request to tour with his 1959 Cadillac convertible and is using a Carlsberg tractor trailer rig driving around the country. If you see one of these rigs, hail them... you may find Carl or get a beer! With the highway access and an updated roadway system Barlow managed a tremendous rebuilding effort. This results are most impressive. You can almost taste the diesel! Likewise the commercial sector ramped up to meet the demand...
  13. Kairouan القيروان (part 1)

There are too many pictures so you have to go to the next entry -> http://community.simtropolis.com/journal/2613-somewhere/ P.S.: If you are interrested to read the more about it, you can read the grey lines, if not, you can just read the black lines and move one to the pictures of simcity4. More informations here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kairouan The city I made isn't exactly like the real life, and some parts of it are from history (like the canals and the too many water bassins) One of the few remainings of the once great Islamic civlisation. Kairouan have been built around 50 Hejri (the Islamic dating), wich correspond to the year 670 A.C. by Uqba Ibn Nafae. It was built far from the coasts (to be safe from the sea empires, like the byzantine empire), and away from the mountains (to be safe from berbers who lived in mountains). Kairouan was founded in about the year 670 when the Arab general Uqba ibn Nafi of Amir Muauia selected a site in the middle of a dense forest, then infested with wild beasts and reptiles, as the location of a military post for the conquest of the West. It was located far from the sea where it was safe from continued attacks of the Berberswho had fiercely resisted the Arab invasion. Berber resistance continued, led first byKusaila whose troops killed Uqba at Biskra about fifteen years after the military post was established,[8] and then by a Berber woman called Al-Kahina who was killed and her army defeated in 702. Subsequently, there was a mass conversion of the Berbersto Islam. Kharijites or Islamic "outsiders" who formed an egalitarian and puritanical sect appeared and are still present on the island of Djerba. In 745, KharijiteBerberscaptured Kairouan, which was already at that time a developed city with luxuriant gardens and olive groves. The city was established on a dense forest, to become a military base, and a post for troops conquering North Africa. Later it became a very important center for both relegious and secular, reaching it's golden age after a period of power struggles. It was even larger than the modern day Kairouan. Power struggles remained until Kairouan was recaptured by Ibrahim ibn al-Aghlab at the end of the 8th century. In 800, Ibrahim was confirmed Emir and hereditary ruler of Ifriqiya byCaliph Harun ar-Rashid in Baghdad. Ibrahim ibn al-Aghlab founded the Aghlabid dynasty that ruled Ifriqiya between 800 and 909. The new Emirs embellished Kairouan and made it their capital which soon became famous for its wealth and prosperity reaching the levels of Basraand Kufa and giving Tunisia one of its golden ages long sought after the glorious days ofCarthage. The Aghlabites built the great mosque and established in it a university that was a centre of education both in Islamic thought and in the secular sciences. Its role can be compared to that of the University of Paris in the Middle Ages. In the 9th century, the city became a brilliant focus of Arab and Islamic cultures attracting scholars from all over the Islamic World. In that period Imam Sahnun and Asad ibn al-Furat made of Kairouan a temple of knowledge and a magnificent centre of diffusion of Islamic sciences. The Aghlabids also built palaces, fortifications and fine waterworks of which only the pools remain. From Kairouan envoys fromCharlemagne and the Holy Roman Empire returned with glowing reports of the Aghlabitespalaces, libraries and gardens – and from the crippling taxation imposed to pay for their drunkenness and sundry debaucheries. The Aghlabite also pacified the country and conquered Sicily in 827.[9] But there are dark times to come, Kairouan have been fully devastated and burned down by some tribes coming from the middle-east, trying to find lush areas to survive. Kairouan have been destroyed, but it survived and built new walls (smaller walls) and shrunk back to provide more security for the city. The decline of the dynasty began under Ibrahim II ibn Ahmad (875-902). An attack by the Tulunids of Egypt had to be repelled and a revolt of the Berbers put down with much loss of life. In addition, in 893 there began amongst the Kutama Berbers the movement of theShiite Fatimids to overthrow the Aghlabids. Ubaydalla Said captured the cities of Qairawan and Raqqada and took an oath of allegiance from the people. By 909, the Aghlabid Dynasty was overthrown and replaced with the Fatimids.[3] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aghlabids It was a rich gene pool, there have been many nationalities and races; europeans, berbers, andalusians, arabs, africans, turkish, etc.. no wonder for a city that had such big importance and history (wich started to fade away by time, and the population diversity declined). Kairouan today have 4 aghlabid bassins (and alot more either burried or neglected) and canals connecting these bassins to provide the city with fresh water. Those were it's borders during the Aghlabid dynasty, during it's golden ages. Ruins from past scattered around: The city food market, where sims can buy their food needs (vegetebals, meat, etc..) In Kairouan and in most of the old arab cities, every market have a specialty (like the leather market, the iron market, clothes market, etc...) (like a mall in modern day). Today, Kairouan still have a great carpet markets (expensive ones): I will leave you with more pictures to enjoy The city is mostly white washed (to reflect the most possible sun light and reduce the heat), and norrow streets (to provide shades). Some parts of the city have been modernised to provide the cities' growing needs (I'm talking about simcity 4 here) The city used to have a tunnel system conencting all buildings, to beused in case of a war, to escape from the city, and to bring supplies, pretty much like what palastinians are doing nowaydays. To be continued... There are too many pictures so you have to go to the next entry -> http://community.simtropolis.com/journal/2613-somewhere/

  17. ITS Office Parks - Trafalgar Complexes

    Version 1.1

KOSC presents: Trafalgar Complexes Introduction This is the fourth set of lots in my ITS Office Park series. I was originally going to release this around 2 months ago, but the beast that was Skylines took me out of my SC4 mood . In a slight departure from previous releases of the series, this lot is multi-purposed for not only offices, but also residential and services. Originally there were supposed to be more lot variants, but due to the nature of the building and the age of it, I decided not to proceed forward. Therefore, this is in a sense, a TIOLI (take it or leave it) lot. Package Overview Trafalgar Complexes is a reinmagination of Ill Tonkso's original Trafalgar Hall BAT, which was a small, standalone midrise. There are two distinct variants, but all of them share the same layout. The office version is marked by the concrete pavement, while the hotel and condominium versions have dark asphalt pavement with brickwork in the main driveway. Included in the following package are a total of 3 growables versions (1 for CO, CS and R). There are no ploppable versions this time around. However, you can use the BuildingPlop cheat from Extra Cheats to plop them if you wish (all the lot exemplars are prefixed with KOSC ITS _buildingname_ ). As always, a custom prop exemplar for the building is included in order to simulate multi-building lots. 18. My Tryst with anime started with KissXsis (it's gonna raise a lot of eyebrows ) but apart from all the Perverted and jokes of sexual nature it's actually a very funny show now after i was finished with KissXsis i wondered which anime should i move on to next i asked a couple of my friends they suggested me to watch Hayate the combat butler. I only like comedy based anime i am not into serious anime shows like Deathnote which is quite good i heard. Right now i just got over with 1st season of Hayate and would be moving on to the next season. So what are you guys watching ?
  19. http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/03/justice/wisconsin-girl-stabbed/ May be a bit old of an article (six days, to be exact), but I believe that it is worthy of discussion. And the idiocy of the internet at times.
  20. I really don't understand what im doing wrong, but my big cities always end up with a large number of old people. and because of the old people i get the big die-offs and my demand ends up plummeting while the other bordering city plots will all have huge RCI demand. Just wondering if there's some sort of fix for this, or if i'm just doing something wrong.
  21. Replies: Jedahdiah, Schulmanator, sarthakknight, sadiemydog, TheTransitMan2525 and VMIUJcadet09 - thanks for all the kind words following my first entry at the weekend! Starting South Bartholomew: Old Town I've been busy in the evenings getting started on the first large city tile, and this is the area of South Bartholomew - the southern half of the country's largest island along with some smaller islands off the coast. South Bartholomew was one of the first areas to be permanently settled when Europeans landed on the islands in the Middle Ages. As such, the majority of the earliest architecture and buildings on the islands can be found here, specifically the "Old Town" area of Kingsend, which through slow expansion and sprawl, now occupies most of the southern portion of Bartholomew. It was through the random nature of the development of a residential area as I got the place up and running that resulted in me building Old Town first. Some of the lovely timberframe buildings that make up cropped up naturally and after complimenting them with some more ploppable versions of the same lots plus a few more interesting bits and pieces, the Old Town area is almost done! So here are some pictures, and we visit Old Town on market day, which occurs every Thursday. The market is held in the open square in front of the old town hall which since the settlement's expansion and subsequent shift of the CBD to the southern tip (more on that another time!) has been converted into a small museum and information centre for the many tourists who visit. The market is surrounded by many of the restored old buildings which date back hundreds of years and now house a mixture of smart, modern apartments and offices. In the top right of one of those images, you may be able to make out the church. This was built by the Dutch settlers whilst the island was under their control and despite the British taking control of the Northward Isles, the vast majority of religious buildings and monuments across the islands were left intact and continued to be used. It is now the most popular church within Kingsend and on Sundays traffic in the area, on the cobbled streets, can be horrendous. To finish, here's a couple of overview pictures of the Old Town area, though due to its shape I couldn't quite get it all in without a load of empty space and unfinished bits cropping in so a complete shot will have to wait! With Old Town mostly done, I'm now turning my attention to two areas - the marina and seafront and also the Kingsend CBD so stay tuned for updates!
  22. Paris Building

    Version 1.0

I (Kellydale2003) present to you The Paris Building! HISTORY The Paris Building located in the heart of the subarctic city of Winnipeg, Canada was first built in 1915. The building was originally 5 floors, but in 1917 a 6-floor vertical extension was added. The Paris Building is under the Historical Buildings Conservation list in Winnipeg and has become a heritage landmark. The building was purposefully created to have a dilapidated feel in SimCity 4 and is entirely based off the Paris Building (it is not an exact replica). The building is also purposefully aged, the bricks are falling out, the large windows bent, the building even has burnt out outdoor lights! This model was almost purposely deleted in 2012 due to an influx of not-so-positive comments... better here than in no-where land! This building was created by a Canadian, and if you feel the flag is overbearing to your non-Canadian cities, please imagine the structure as a Canadian Embassy or something! haha THIS IS MY FIRST OLD SCHOOL BUILDING. TAKE IT EASY! :b DEPENDENCIES NEEDED .... JUST KIDDING! ^The real Paris Building in Winnipeg, Canada. Download the MAXIS NIGHT file if you do not have SimFox's Darknight installed in your plugins! Download the DARK NIGHT file if you have Dark Night installed! For more upcoming projects visit my thread! (: Enjoy! , Kellydale2003

  24. Bipin's Billboards

    Version V.1.1

Billboards ~ by ~ Included in this download are three simple, albeit quite deteriorated billboard signs. They are perfect for any post-industrial environment by the likes of Gary, Indiana or Detroit, Michigan. Whatever your needs, these will fit perfectly in any little crevasse inside your little Detropia, given their size of a single tile. All you'll need in conjunction with this download is the following dependency: http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/26504-wmp-allotment-set/ Furthermore, a greater degree of realism has been achieved via the orientation of these billboards at odd angles other than those typically found in-game. Of course, what dictates a lack of fun in realism? This is a game after all, and that's why I'll be making one more billboard using this texture: Just a nice little nod to the community, and thus one which is available in the place where the community matters the most to me; my BAT thread: Check it out in a day or two to get this extra little freebie. In the meantime, enjoy your three new billboards!
