hello - i hope Wolf and company see this message because this is quite the experience. After following your advice a short while back via Reddit which was supposed to be a solution to an issue at the time (How do i bypass these crashing issues with the GOG galaxy version of SC4). I followed said advice of yours (i.e. download the full game and use that outside of GOG galaxy). That ran perfectly fine. Before playing the game, I also followed your advice of resetting it and deleting all the old files. Okay, fine. No issue running the offline download of the full game. I proceed further, before starting my first new city, to use the sc4pac mod manager to get all of the current plugins, packages, NAM and CAM as of the date of this post. I followed the instructions for NAM (including patching the 4gb patch to the SimCity 4 application file in the folders (maxis, GOG galaxy). I should be good to go, right? Wrong! i am now faced with new, interesting issues. the first is the prompt that i added to my most recent reddit post, another is that every game running instance is windowed titled 'Sc4fix v7'. Even when running the sc4pac mod manager to uninstall the sc4fix plugins i think are the issue, it still runs in a window and it crashes each time.

White fence suddenly appearing along my rural roads? [Solved]
JustPluto99 posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hi folks, I've been using the electricity posts from the Japan sidewalk mod for a while and had no issues up until a few days ago, when a white fence started appearing? I've tried deleting half of my plugin folder to narrow it down, nothing. Tried replacing my Japan sidewalk mod folder with an earlier backup, still nothing. Does anyone recognize this fence from somewhere?- 10 Replies

Copy of the relevant bits of the description: This video was made to document graphical glitches when running SimCity 4 on Intel Arc, I thought I'd document this since I'm probably the only person in the world to run this game on such hardware. Now these bugs are to be expected since SimCity 4 uses a very old version of DirectX, DirectX 8.1 to be exact and the Intel Xe-HPG instruction set architecture only natively supports DirectX 12 and Vulkan. Now Intel's Arc cards are not the only cards that have issues with running this game as nVida's RTX 30 series dropped native support DirectX 8 and similar glitches can be seen when running SimCity 4 on those cards as well. dxvk is known to solve such graphical issues on the RTX 30 series, however I have yet to try out dxvk on this game. I will post a link to a Simtropolis talking about these issues and my attempts to fix them. Since then I've tried dxvk but haven't really played around with it and so far while the bugs still happen, they happen less frequently. Note to mods I'm not sure where to post it so I posted it here.

Hi, I need help.. i downloaded the NAM, the roads are showing in my in-game menu but they are not working it just won't build them. help please

I broke something, and it coincidentally started with my first uses of SC4PIM. Also when downloading paeng minstral jaune, when I opened it in LE I saw white textures where industrial were supposed to be. I changed them to something acceptable and went on my day. Maxis lots are missing tons of overlay textures, as well as props. Custom lots sometimes behave weird when they dilapidate: note the presence of rail textures where it was supposed to be dirty grass I don't know where to start in looking for a solution to this.

Hey guys! I am making a vehicle mod named "Citroen TA" for cities skylines. [Link to my repo: https://www.mediafire.com/file/n7p1r0b43qayzhk/CitroenTA.rar/file] The car body spun like a wheel when I was testing the asset. Regarding "Blender", is there anything to do with the bone and armature? If not, can you take a look at my repo for me while I try to solve this problem on my own? Thank you very much. and I'll appreciate your for this

Hi Community, what can cause all commercial buildings showing low customers? Got a lot of streets/ roads ave´s used by thousands of commuters but commercial stays on "low". It normally should change to medium/ high by some hundreds of commuters, is that right? Is it maybe the NAM running on Ultra capacity to avoid struggling with congestions? Do I have to increase the customer/ traffic noise factor in the TSCT? Thx for your replies!

So I am finding myself having issues with the road to highway upgrading pretty destructive to my city as my interchange from highway to highway/ highway to road connects early on, but then development proceeds as normal around it. Ive started just trying to get every purchasable land slot upgrade unlocked and purchased, then completely deleting my city to start over and only work on the roadways, and railways before rezoning in hopes that megalopolis will recover without to much headache. Is this the only viable option with the road issues in the vanilla game? is there any tips or pointers that anyone is willing to share with me? please help.

OK, I give up: Why the hell is it still so slow?
Wheezy posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
About my system: Samsung NP530E5M-X02US laptop, i5-7200U CPU, Nvidia GeForce 920MX 2GB graphics card, upgraded to 16 GB ram. (Although stock hard drive.) Not a high-end system or anything, but it should be more than enough. I have CPU's set to 1 and SC4Fix, so it doesn't crash, but game takes maybe 6 minutes to open. Plugins folder is 3.75 GB and partially datpacked, so it shouldn't be that bad considering how many players have twice that and don't report issues. I've also used that patch that allows 4GB virtual memory. This region is entirely large tiles, and lower-population cities are fine, but the one I'm currently working on is an almost built out large city tile with 700,000 people. I know you won't be getting peak performance with a city that size, but people have been building far bigger ones for years. And the way it's acting is very strange: Menus open quickly, and it usually runs perfectly smoothly, but then it'll randomly freeze for anywhere from 2-6 minutes; it can also take that long to rotate or perform random functions like unpausing - but only sometimes - and maybe 5-7 minutes to save. Meanwhile I'm running Chrome and Spotify just fine and using just half my RAM total. It drives me mental. SC4 Launcher was making it even worse, so I went back to opening it through Steam. Automata-increasing mods made it absolutely unplayable. I still haven't figured out how to change the graphics settings to run it off the graphics card because the process looks very complicated. Would that help? Edit: Solved. See below. -
So i got this screen when i used the tool and it's the graphic card memory not found or system memory, both? There's surely just this tool itself that's at fault here when not finding it but i just want to know what gives when my EA system info report tool reports this.

I admit I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but this is more of a tip I have for anyone who is facing problems with neighborhood deals involving trash. I've seen lots of people complainining that they can't export garbage from city A to city B, even if city A has a garbage problem and city B has a lot of capacity to deal (or at least it looks like it does). Now, as I said, it might look like everything is okay with city B when it comes to garbage, but there is a chance (at least this was always the case for me) that you're not looking as deep at this city as the simulation. Let me explain: There are 2 ways people always use to check garbage in a city, ex. city B. First, is there piles of trash on the roads and streets? If you click the garbage data map, do you see lots of yellow-orange-red squares scattered around? When you check the graph, is the green line (amount of trash) above the blue (capacity)? If that's the case, then this city has a garbage problem, and you should tackle this before importing trash from the other cities. Now, I'm sure you already knew that. Your problem is that you neither see piles of trash in the streets, nor any indication of trash in the data map. Even in the graph, you should have your trash line below your capacity one. And, despite all of this, you still can't import more garbage. I had this issue from years until I figured something that, so far, has worked for me and perharps it might work for you too: it looks like, when considering if the city could import garbage or not, the simulation takes into account the current TREND in the garbage department of your city, not your current situation. What this means: going back to the example of the otherwise perfectly fine city above, it's true that, for now, this city doesn't have a garbage problem. But let the simulation run for some months and look at the behaviour of the (and only the) green, ammount of trash, line. Forget about the blue, capacity, line entirely. Is this green line growing? Is the ammount of trash increasing in your city? Then, even though you might not have a garbage problem now, you're bound to have on in the future, and the simulation seems to take that into account. So what to do? Well, I've solved all of this problems by simpling building more Waste-to-Energy plants to burn the trash, until I start to have a descending green line. When this happens, you'll probably be able to import more trash to this city. So this is a tip which has worked for me so far, and might help some of you out there too. Whenever you see that you can't import garbage in a city even though this city looks fine, check the garbage history graph, and see if the green line is growing: if so, build more waste-to-energy plants until you have a descending green line, and you should be able to import trash for this city once again.

[Solved] Having some shading artifacts on model dump, edit, then import
Manuel-ito posted a topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
So, I have a small problem: I'm getting started in asset making and, as a start, decided to dump then edit the vanilla metro station model so that it occupies a 1x1 space instead of a 2x2. Here's the model in Blender, viewed from above and from underneath: When I import it as .obj into the game, I notice these lightning artifacts on the stairs and floorplate: How can I fix this? I tried remaking the affected triangles and remapping them, but that didn't work. Also, I noticed a similar problem in the raw dump made with modtools: I tried searching for this problem on the web, but didn't find any exact results. Maybe I'm being a dunce and missing something obvious -
Hello, I have recently tried to model for Cities: Skylines. I have made a model in sketchup and I'm trying to convert it to Blender. The model shows up just fine, however, I keep failing in making an UVW map. I don't know what I am doing wrong because I have followed multiple tutorials doing exactly what they do. But my UVW map just never shows up. I select the building, scale it, then I create a new UV map, then Mesh > Edges > Mark Seam. Then I unwrap it but it doesn't show up. I hope anyone can help me figuring out what's wrong.

Hi guys, I am struggling to get my game to load correctly. I unsubed all mods when the game was working in an attempt to get the editor to work (wont be doing that again) and since this i can now no longer get into the game. I start the game and it crashes at the Paradox blackscreen. I have tried to load the game with no mods, but no change. I can however load without the workshop loaded. I have looked at my output log file but cant make head or tails of this. ? Can someone be so kind as to check this out for me Logfile - https://gist.github.com/anonymous/078fe6ea1c5e9a7a986da749d748537e -
Hello, I've recently built a PC. I decided to wax nostalgia and play some Simcity 3000 unlimited. However, there was an error during installation. I know the solution to that error but I have another problem. I've uninstalled the game from my computer. There are no related files under program files x86 and I have even deleted the keys to the game from the registry. The game no longer shows in my programs and features but every time I insert the disk and autorun the program, it still shows uninstall as the button (not giving me the option to install it). Finding information to fix it on the Internet has been shoddy. The closest I got was a bunch of trolls answering the same question from someone else on a yahoo answers post from 8 years ago. Idk if there are any other possible routes I could take to allow me to install the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (Sorry if this is in the wrong forum) I run Windows 7, 64-bit. Help me Simtropolis community, you're my only hope! -Vinnie

Addressing Citizens' Issues | Cities: Skylines #41
CapTon posted a City Journal entry in Let's Play Cities: Skylines
I'm a nice, caring guy. -
Dear Simtropolis Users For those of you who are familiar with the NAM system and the RHW I'm addressing my concerns to thereof. While playing SIm City 4 and I'm trying to make good use of the RHW and MIS in lieu of using the existing highways produced by Maxis I'm experiencing two technical issues. The first issue is that whenever I connect two cities together using the RHW system, the no sim cars will pass through other than Freight trucks. I've also tried using the neighbor connector pieces and that didn't work either. The second problem which is shown in the attached image below is the use of the Level 3 and 4 starter pieces which does not show the road textures other than the columns.

Problem with biggest region when ported over to new computer
hiddentemple posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hello all, I recently got a new Windows 10 computer, and it works great. After fretting for almost a week trying to get SC4 to work on it. Eventually, I had to buy the game digitally (through GOG.com). I also ported over all the data from my external hard drive (regions, plugins, etc.) and put it in its proper place (within the new folder I created for the digital version, since the CD won't be able to work with Windows 10). Here is where the problem lies. My biggest region, apparently, did not fully survive the porting-over process, and so my map has a few holes in it. Is there any way that this problem can be resolved easily, without having to seriously compromise or break the game itself? Any help is appreciated. -- Sparkle Fire -- -
Major Traffic Issues | Cities: Skylines #30
CapTon posted a City Journal entry in Let's Play Cities: Skylines
We're starting to experience some major traffic issues. Crap. -
!! Update 05 Aug !! - READ HERE FIRST It seems that CD versions of SC4 will not run under Windows 10 - The necessary OS support files for validating SafeDisc2 copy protection simply isn't part of Windows 10. This issue is not unique to SC4 either, SafeDisc and associated technologies were widely used by game discs for such validation. For now, unless MS decide to retroactively support it, your only option appears to be a digital version of the game which will not have such copy protection. If you put your CD-Key into Origin they will provide you with a free digital copy of the game, so it needn’t cost you any money to resolve. This thread is aimed at users who cannot run SC4 using Windows 10, if your games starts but has other issues, this is not the place to go into that. The only way to try and understand why certain users can not get the game to work, and hopefully, find a solution, is to start gathering some data. -Note- I've removed the superfluous information from this thread, to avoid confusion. But in-short the summary above explains the issue here.

Hi everyone! This is the official place to report any bugs and glitches you may notice with the site. When reporting issues, it always helps to be as descriptive as possible, such as by including the following info: A summary of the issue. Screenshots or a video to highlight what's wrong (with annotations if applicable). Note: Images are best uploaded to an online image host, and the direct link pasted into the editor. Your basic system info (e.g. browser version / operating system, device type). When the issue started, or how often it can be reproduced. Any error messages shown? This can help us to reproduce the problems, and then work on finding solutions. Thanks all for your help!- 1,131 Replies
