  1. Not a big deal but just noticed that Nonny Moose's comment of being prepared is using 3 . (dot, U+002E) when he could use just one … (Ellipsis, U+2026). Again not a big deal at all but it might save ever so slightly on bandwith.
  2. Well, I am not too familiar with scripting as a whole but I just renaming the file extension from .bat to .cmd would make things a picosecond faster. The main difference between .bat and .cmd is that .cmd has better error handling. You can read more about that here. I don't think renaming the .bat to .cmd will break anything. Even though I am not too familiar with scripting as a whole rewriting the script in PowerShell would be a good exercise for me Also it's good to see you back on fourms
  3. Well stuff happened while I was gone… WTF? Cities Skylines 2 is not really a mainline game but it did get some buzz so I can kind of see why you might want to attack that community. But the SC4 cryptocurrency community? Does that even exist?! That makes no sense. Does anyone still have the modified .bat? I am really curious on what line was dropped in there. I assume it's one for a few lines so maybe someone can DM me a quote of that code? Thanks in advance. Also while I am still here and this wouldn't have fixed anything I do want to ask the NAM team, why do you still use .bat? It doesn't really matter for this usecase but .cmd is technically newer, faster and more advanced than .bat. From my understanding the only reason you want to use .bat over .cmd is for non-NT based Windows systems and I don't think anyone here is using Windows ME or older (can you even use NAM on 9X based Windows systems? I don't think so…). Also a Powershell script would be nice but I can see how you might not want that due to support issues with execution policies. However I am willing possibly write one if you guys want one, it looks simple enough.
  4. Junxions - Announcement Trailer

I have 3 burning questions. Will the cars be able to change lanes at any point in the road? If so, how? Are you using a node system or something else? I understand that this game is being made in the EU, so the Vienna Convention is going to take center stage however will there be plans for an option to make this game compliant with the 11th edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices?
  5. Context this is a mostly a copy-pasted post. Let me state my issues: The rain effect, which looked so beautiful in CS1 now looks extremely ugly. The households appear to have the same calculations as they had in CS1. Even though the map is bigger you can't buyout the entire map. The disaster effects (like smoke) also look ugly. The UI is hideously ugly. Chirpier still exists and seems to be more obnoxious. You will need to have uneducated workers to have industry, I don't want to get into politics but that's not how it works. Deathcare still exists. They doubled down on industries style gameplay which I don't like since you are a city not a corporation, and running state owned industry wouldn't be under the responsibility of a city. There's still gaps in the zoning once you curve your roads. The textures are ugly and are lacking detail. There's probably more that haven't come to mind and more disappointments down the road. What a letdown at least we still have CS1. Just an FYI my disappointment doesn't come the quality of the gamescom streams, but with the elements of the of the gameplay.
  6. You used to be able to upload images with no account, now they are getting deleted.
  7. Maybe we are talking about 2 issues because I never had the installer fail to run and issues only arose when it came to launching SC4DATPacker and in my case SC4DATPacker spit out a log complaining about these files, now I do know that the required dlls are prepacked with SC4DATPacker but they didn't work and I don't know why but placing them in syswow64 allowed SC4DATPacker to run and DATpack SimCity_1.dat as normal. I had the same issue with SC4TerraFormer, adding the dlls in the program folder did not help and the program wouldn't work. I don't know why you are coming at me with this, did InvisiChem pay Microsoft to have those dlls bundled in the installer? I don't think so. Again I had the MSVC installed on my old install of Windows and it didn't work, I don't why but it didn't. Actually no, the PDF credited you but I didn't you were the first to come up with a workaround, and after a quick look I can only find an earlier post from 2017 about you talking about the workaround. In this case my assumption lined up with my reality, your reality might be different from mine and I'm sorry if my explanation of the solution for my reality is completely incorrect in other realities and sounding like a smartass about it. I didn't mean to come off like that and obviously lots of tone gets lost in text. It was those links they weren't you for you but for other people. Also out of curiosity I managed pull part (if not all) of the NSI script via an old version of 7zip, maybe you can find out wants wrong (if the NSI script is useful) as if anyone knows anything about it's the NAM team with their monster NSI script. 8. Copy of the relevant bits of the description: This video was made to document graphical glitches when running SimCity 4 on Intel Arc, I thought I'd document this since I'm probably the only person in the world to run this game on such hardware. Now these bugs are to be expected since SimCity 4 uses a very old version of DirectX, DirectX 8.1 to be exact and the Intel Xe-HPG instruction set architecture only natively supports DirectX 12 and Vulkan. Now Intel's Arc cards are not the only cards that have issues with running this game as nVida's RTX 30 series dropped native support DirectX 8 and similar glitches can be seen when running SimCity 4 on those cards as well. dxvk is known to solve such graphical issues on the RTX 30 series, however I have yet to try out dxvk on this game. I will post a link to a Simtropolis talking about these issues and my attempts to fix them. Since then I've tried dxvk but haven't really played around with it and so far while the bugs still happen, they happen less frequently. Note to mods I'm not sure where to post it so I posted it here.
  9. Imgur to ban explicit images and delete uploads not tied to an account | Engadget Honestly this was to be expected however this will be yet another blow to web forums, I'm still mad when I see photobucket pictures on old pages because they went about it in the worst possible way. But I guess we will all start needing to host our own server if we want to keep our photos online.
  10. You are actually incorrect, the installer is 100% and is working as intended, the issue lies with SC4DatPacker 2008, (it's actually packaged in the installer exe, however, is a separate executable file, you can see this if you open up the CAM installer with 7zip.) Missing libraries (specifically the MSVC runtime) are indeed the issue, and if I had to guess it's that SC4DatPacker 2008 was compiled for x86 while we all now use Windows on AMD64 and that the libraries are in the System32 folder (AMD64) and not in the SysWOW64 (x86 subsystem folder) This is an example of DLL hell. Also here's more information on the Windows 32-bit on Windows 64-bit subsystem (it's just Wikipedia ) As for @Foxtrot I have no idea why this method didn't work for you as it did work on a fresh install of Windows 10.
  11. When the Chocolate Hits the Fan

If I had to guess some dust, likely sugar caused the explosion, seriously combustible dust is not a joke!
  12. Possible "OpenSC4" ?

    I'm dumb and blind
  13. Possible "OpenSC4" ?

    Dead link.....
  14. I was playing around with ChatGPT and I asked it what does 'Rampocalypse' mean (don't ask why) and it gave me this odd answer: and I asked it why was it coined and it gave me this: is this true? tbh the SC2013 happened so long ago at this point and I wanted to forget it, and I guess I did somewhat did
  15. Hmmm MSVCR71.dll was the .dll that I needed, well every system is different and Windows works in mysterious ways. So this documentation is appreciated.
