How to set up the AMD Raedon R5 graphic card
luvs2draw posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hello everyone, Found this while I was surfing the web. Here are the settings for the "AMD Radeon R5 Adrenalin Graphics Card version 19.11.1". Here is the link: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh-012 I have set mine according to the directions from this site. It gives step by step directions. I have played the game with no side affects to my game. But like they say if you don't feel comfortable changing settings on your computer, don't, but if you give it try and don't like them you can always restore back to the factory settings. Enjoy. -
OK, I give up: Why the hell is it still so slow?

About my system: Samsung NP530E5M-X02US laptop, i5-7200U CPU, Nvidia GeForce 920MX 2GB graphics card, upgraded to 16 GB ram. (Although stock hard drive.) Not a high-end system or anything, but it should be more than enough. I have CPU's set to 1 and SC4Fix, so it doesn't crash, but game takes maybe 6 minutes to open. Plugins folder is 3.75 GB and partially datpacked, so it shouldn't be that bad considering how many players have twice that and don't report issues. I've also used that patch that allows 4GB virtual memory. This region is entirely large tiles, and lower-population cities are fine, but the one I'm currently working on is an almost built out large city tile with 700,000 people. I know you won't be getting peak performance with a city that size, but people have been building far bigger ones for years. And the way it's acting is very strange: Menus open quickly, and it usually runs perfectly smoothly, but then it'll randomly freeze for anywhere from 2-6 minutes; it can also take that long to rotate or perform random functions like unpausing - but only sometimes - and maybe 5-7 minutes to save. Meanwhile I'm running Chrome and Spotify just fine and using just half my RAM total. It drives me mental. SC4 Launcher was making it even worse, so I went back to opening it through Steam. Automata-increasing mods made it absolutely unplayable. I still haven't figured out how to change the graphics settings to run it off the graphics card because the process looks very complicated. Would that help? Edit: Solved. See below. -
I've been running SC4 dlx on my laptop for years, with occasional issues that were easy to fix. No problems whatsoever until yesterday, I tried running the game and got the 'graphics card failed to initialize" dialogue, followed by "simcity 4 will run with graphics driver when next launched." Well I relaunched the game, but the normal cursor appeared smaller and the fill color was black, not gray like it usually is. The loading icon is no longer the sc4 hourglass, it's the OLD windows hourglass icon. This time it crashed to desktop before the city tile I chose was loaded. My graphics config is already custom to my computer; custom resolution set, intro movie is off, cpu count set to 1, and openGL is enabled. (or maybe it's DL, can't remember right now). I tried switching to hardware rendering mode, which fixed the cursor and the loading icon, but the in game graphics were SCREWED up. I switched back to software and the cursor went black, the loading icon went back to the windows hourglass from the 90's... I updated my patch a few months ago, and there were absolutely no changes made to my system before the problem started. Any thoughts? By the way, I'm running on win7, I've taken care of the security update issue already. 2gb ram, 64-bit, AMD E-300 APU with AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics at 1.3GHz.

Anybody upgrade their computer / graphics car for CSL?
Fearlessmayor posted a topic in Cities: Skylines Technical Help Q&A
I'm a sc4 player, and I love it -- I recently got back into playing it again. But been wanting to try out CSL. so I'm in need of upgrading my computer to play CSL. my Intel Graphics HD card doesn't meet the game's minimum graphics requirements. I'm not a huge gamer so I never needed to upgrade my graphics card til now. my computer's good (IMO) it has a i3 intel 3.3 ghz processor, and 8 GB ram. My new graphics card is coming tomorrow and I'm going to need to install it myself as my computer repairman told me it's an easy install. however since it'll be my first in-tower hardware install, I'm nervous I won't do it right. I got a GTX 750 Ti since it was in my price range, and aisde from mario kart on Wii I'm not a huge gamer. I pretty much just play Sim City 4, 2013, on my computer. anywhoo, was wondering if any of you had to upgrade your computer to play CSL and any tips and tricks you have for installing a new graphics card would be so helpful. -
