Honestly I’m so glad we’re back and I want to help however I can! We’ve got such a great team of folks here. I had DLed some files from that time period that I have 100% intact in their original directory structure. I would be more than happy to ZIP ‘em back up and contribute them back to the project. My life is kinda busy for the next few weeks but since this is a marathon, and I’m sure you’d be happy with any amount of help whenever anyone has the time, I’d also be comfortable doing some Processing and Verifying as well. Having me Verify gives the added bonus of checking if it works on a Mac, as I’m still running the Steam version on a 64 bit Intel. (Obv. I can’t check the DLL based stuff, but that’s fine, I’ll just check the BATs.)- 63 Replies

So something’s going wrong with your SimCity 4 install. This is a somewhat common occurrence, as the Mac version hasn't gotten the updates that the Windows version has, and depending on what’s going wrong depends on how to fix it (or even if you can). As someone who’s played the game for more than 15 years (and most of those were on Macs), I’ve seen… well, I’d like to think I’ve seen pretty much every error that can happen with the Mac. Here’s a guide to all the bugs I’ve ever encountered, most common ones first. (This guide is under construction. I will be adding to it in the future.) Note: I haven't gone through the Mac forums to dig up every problem everyone's ever had. There may be bugs covered there that I don't know about. I *can* say that advice for certain issues has changed over the years, and sometimes you get contradicting information. My best advice is to go with the most up-to-date information possible. Also note that this was written for the 32-bit version. The 64-bit version may or may not have the same errors, but has definitely been having its own problems (but since I didn't upgrade, I can't help with that.) 64 Bit users, once you get all the common errors & the kinks worked out on fixing them, I'll add them in here. Weird Loadup Behavior? Not Seeing Your Regions? You've encountered Too Many Files/Folders Bug. @TheDUBSpeedArts writes: On startup, I am greeted by an empty region with no cities, no text anywhere (even the menus), and a constantly vibrating screen. The region list is empty, and attempting to create a new one crashes the game. New folders have been created in the regions folder bearing the name timbuktu with increasingly higher numbers. The game also skips all intros except the Maxis and SimCity 4 splash screens. This is the most common (but not only) behavior for the “too many files/folders” bug. It's a known issue that if there's too many files in the Plugins directory (and each folder counts as 1 file with this bug), weird things happen with loadup. We're talking hundreds or thousands of files+folders. (And with a nesting file & folder structure, it's easy for this to happen, multiple times even.) This, with the transit bug & the night lighting bug, is the most common bug people come across when playing SC4 with custom content. Luckily, there’s 2 easy fixes for it, and 1 that's more involved (but you should do anyway.) Anytime you have problems with loadup or regions/maps (and you haven't recently installed a new map), or if you have issues with it slowing down so much it's unplayable, this should be the issue you should suspect first. Fix #0: Cleaning up your folders. This is the more involved fix (which may not work in the end) but you should do it anyway. (You'll thank yourself later.) You don't need any of the EXE installers, ReadMes or image files that sometimes come with a Plugin to actually USE the plugin. And the plugin files doesn't need to stay in the directory structure it came in. Each subfolder counts as a file, and while it's nice to have it all organized (for plugins with many files), the more shallow the directory structure, the faster SC4 will run and the happier it'll be. My recommendation is to have a "shadow" folder elsewhere on your drive with the ReadMe's, etc. and/or with the more complex directory structure. More about that in Fix 2. (Which can be used in coordination with this if this wasn't enough to get it running again.) Fix #1: Using XML to change your system’s file limit. I've never done this one, esp. as the instructions seems to be directed at older systems, but if you'd like to give it a shot, check out these detailed instructions: Fix #2: Using the jDatPacker to turn a bunch of plugins into 1 big file. This is what I do. It turns many small files into one big file. Tell it the folder you want it to read from, the folder you want to put the file(s) in, and it will make a DAT file for every subfolder within the folder you specify. Here's a link to the jDatPacker: https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=16500.0 If you do this, it is HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended to have a "shadow" folder elsewhere on your drive with your original directory structure & original files in it. (You can keep the ReadMe's, etc. in there too). This is for a number of reasons: 1) if a dependency gets updated, you can pull the old dependency, put in the new one, and remake the DAT file. 2) if there's a problem with a plugin, you can use the more files version of the subfolder to figure out which plugin, and then remove the offending one and remake the DAT. 3) you can go back and see exactly which files are in the DAT (helpful if you suspect not all the files from a dependency made it into the plugin folder/the DAT). What I do is I keep year folders in my plugins, then inside of that folders like R, C, I, Utilities, Parks & Rec, etc. All years but the most current year (and the last year, if it's towards the beginning of the current year) get DAT packed with separate packs for R, C, I, etc. (And, of course, I keep a "shadow" folder.) Note: The one exception to this is the NAM. Yes, I know, it's got a bazillion files and literally over a million of lines of code. Do a more customized install if you need to. Do just the most basic install. But apparently it sometimes does NOT like to be DAT packed and it expects all its files to be where it wants them to be. If you are deeply insistent on running the full NAM, and no other DAT packing does the job, then and only then try DAT packing the NAM (but don't be surprised if it doesn't work right, crashes, or whatever.) No nightlighting for BATs? This is a known issue. Special settings are required from the BAT creator for night lighting on BATs. Unfortunately, it runs up against an issue where there's a lack of ability to create more than a certain number of night lighted BATs. This has been fixed with a patch in the PC version of the game, but never in the Mac version. (You run into this a lot.) (And, no, we don't have the DarkNight capabilities. If there's a file you want that has both DN & MN (Maxis Night) versions, use the MN version.) So what if I really want all my BATs to show the nightlighting? Well, you can download BATs that already have it. A very small handful of BATs are nightlighting Mac compatible. They're usually tagged Mac compatible. https://community.simtropolis.com/tags/mac compatible/ (note: some transit files in there are tagged mac compatible because they don't have the Mac transit bug. More about that next.) What if I want a specific BAT to have nightlighting? Well, it can be edited to make it work. Unfortunately, the programs required to edit it (Reader 0.9.3 and Model Tweaker) are only available for Windows. So if you have a Windows computer, if you dual boot, or if you have Parallels (or another emulator), you can do it yourself. Or, if not, there are people who are willing to do this so if there's a file you REALLY want to have work, you can request that they do it. If you want to know how to do it, or you want to request a file, check this out: Transit BAT showing 1/100th the capacity it should have? This is another known issue. Fix: DL Mac transit compatible BATs by check out the Mac Compatible tag (or the thread where people fix them) or have someone fix them/fix them yourself with the iLive Reader program (Windows only). Brown Boxes? This is a general problem (NOT Mac only) and is the most common problem people have. You're probably missing a dependency, or, less likely, they forgot to put the right files in the Plugin download. There's TONS of threads on this issue. I installed a BAT but it didn't show up at all! Did you put it in the right directory? Remember, the directory is different depending on if you're using the Aspyr/App Store version or the Steam version. (And it's different from where Windows puts it.) Was it in an EXE file & you need to get the plugin out of the EXE by using FileJuicer or by running the EXE in Wineskin? You can't just put the EXE in your Plugins folder. If you used Wineskin, did it put the files in the wrong place? Sometimes it doesn't matter if you tell it to extract in a different place, it puts it in the default. And sometimes it'll put some files in the right place but not all. (This is why I just let it default, and then go find and move the files afterwards.) Crash to Desktop? If you installed a bunch of files, it might be the Too Many Files Mac bug. Otherwise it's probably a general problem. If it's when you load a specific city, or especially right after you installed a new plugin, this is probably a general problem with a bad plugin. Remove the plugin and see if that's it. If it's right after you removed a plugin, or put a plugin back in, and then delete all lots that have that plugin before removing it again. Otherwise check out general help. Runs so slow it's not usable? Esp. after loading a city, esp. with a lot of plugins: Possibly the Too Many Files Mac bug (OR you're about to hit that bug). Possibly you're trying to run the full NAM and your system just doesn't have the resources. (My MacBook Pro from 2013 doesn't, despite it being top of the line at the time.) Can't AutoScroll? Sometimes when I load it up or Command+Tab between SC4 & other programs, the Auto Scroll (with arrow on edge of screen) turns itself off. You can easily turn it back on again in the Options menu at whatever level you're in (City or Region). Props disappearing from your cities? You may have Prop Pox. While this is a general problem, there's a special fix for the Mac. Note, I've never had prop pox that I know of, so I can't speak on this one. I don't have the PgUp or PgDn buttons to orient ploppables because I'm using a MacBook! Not a bug, but use Fn+Up or Down arrows. I can't use this Plugin because it's in an EXE file! Not a bug, but definitely a Mac issue. Use FileJuicer and take out the necessary files or use Wineskin to run the EXE. See #5 here: Here's some other weird bugs I've encountered. We've never fixed them, and I'm assuming there's some sort of file corruption somewhere. I have no idea if these are Mac only or not. Too Much Money bug: Moneysuck Medical Clinic Bug: Sometimes the advisor pops up and tells me that a Medical Clinic doesn't have enough funding, when it clearly does. I can up the money a bit and she still does it. I up it a little more and she still does it. If I up the money all the way, she shuts up, but that's not feasible in some of my cities. Once a clinic has this bug, it never goes away. It doesn't seem to spread to other clinics in the same city. I'm not sure if it's only the Maxis clinics or if other clinics do it too. I THINK it's just clinics and not also the hospitals. Not Enough Power Freakout Bug: This one has only started happening recently. Sometimes, my advisor will pop up and tell me that I'm about to not have enough power, but when I check the graph I have enough power, usually by a thousand or so. This isn't that unusual, but what's worse is he then goes and tells me a short time later that I don't have enough power, that I'm having brownouts, but I'm clearly not, both with no brownout Zots nor does the graph show that I'm overdrawing power. I'm not sure if the bug lingers through closing out of the program and opening it back up again.

Rural City/Community Colleges. That are compatible with the 64bit Mac version/won't crash it. Preferably 3x3 or less, but I'm not that picky. That's it. That's what I'd like, plz. (P.S. If a rural one isn't available, one that fits in the suburbs'll do. I found one before, but it's 4x4 and surprisingly expensive.) THANK YOU! (Edit: if this would go better in the "find a file" post, lemme know and I'll be happy to move it.)

One little note, from their About Our Building page, it states it was built in as early as 1956 (when the B'nai B'rith, a Jewish human rights organization moved in.) So the 1970's tag is inaccurate. Also, the address is 1640, not 208 as you put on the side, but I assume that was a deliberate decision.

Narrow Functional Pedestrian Laneways and Plazas
c4bl3fl4m3 commented on mattb325's file in Parks & Plazas
Re: update for Mac 64 bit "While I don't believe this type of lot is impacted (but can't be certain)" Just a heads up: I just tried plopping the old version (a 1x4) in my game and it did, indeed, cause a CTD. (I came here to see if there was an update and there is, so thank you!) You may wish to update the notes to show that the old one causes CTDs and that the new one is required for the 64 bit version. EDIT: I just tried the updated file and no more CTD! Thanks so much for the fix!- 9 Comments

Got a quick SC4 question?... Ask here!

Good to know! Do most BATters stick with that? I have a TON of DLed parks and plazas from this site. -

c4bl3fl4m3 replied to City_Slider's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Short dumb question, one I've wondered for literally decades, and sorry if it's already been asked before (esp. by me!) The game itself seems to encourage using Plazas (from the Parks menu) in Commercial zones (as opposed to parks). Does it actually matter? Or are parks equally viable in Commercial zones? (And are plazas equally viable in Residential?) Thanks. -
They're gorgeous but my GOODNESS, does #5 (the pink one) grow like wildfire! It pretty much takes over any of my R$$ and R$$$ 1x2s! Also, I've only seen #4 every now and then and I haven't seen the others grow yet at all, which is a shame. Perhaps modifying the number of lots? Removing 1 or 2 lots for #5 and adding 1 or 2 more for the others?

I have that file as if you still need it (as well as a number of the other large agricultural industrial BLS files) @CorinaMarie (I'm asking you because you've been so helpful in the past.) since SC4D/E doesn't have a lot of its files back up yet, is there any way we can host it here and fix the link?

Forgive me if you already addressed this, but are you using a program called DoubleCommand with the settting “PC style Home & End keys” enabled? Back when I had to use a PC keyboard on my Mac, I had this very problem and it turned out that's what was causing it. (I had totally forgotten about it until I was reading back through old stuff I had posted on here ages ago.) (Edit: another key remapper may possibly do the same thing and have the same issue)
-
FWIW, I used to have the App Store version and now I have the Steam version and it's the same in both versions.

"(I figured no one would want a random building with rooftop stands popping up facing a residential high rise for example)." You're absolutely right. Because of that, would you be willing to release a growable version of Infusion Coffee & Tea without the bleachers on top? I really love this shop and would love for it to grow in my cities.

Try Fn + left or right arrow keys. See if that works for you. That works for me, but I'm on a Macbook.

This would be better described as Hampton Roads (partial) as the map only includes a small part of Norfolk but includes portions of other cities in the region such as Newport News & Hampton (the landform on the top of the map) and seem to center around the Hampton Roads (i.e. the waterways) themselves. It's actually quite zoomed in. Otherwise, no complaints.

Since the Omnibus links don't work anymore, I thought I'd post a document with all the things I wish I could have easily found in one place (& simple explanations for things that people often don't give explanations for because it's so basic/"everyone knows it already") when I first started playing & modding SC4 on the Mac. ********** 1)EDIT 02/23/2020: Aspyr has updated the App Store version (Steam version still pending) to 64 bit/Catalina-compatible, but it's introduced some new bugs related to the Transit Compatibility bug. Aspyr is ACTUALLY updating SC4 (& SC2013) to 64 bit/to be Catalina-compatible. Don’t know WHEN, so for right now, don’t install Catalina yet if you wanna play SC4. (Will update when this changes.) 2) Few people here use the Mac, and those who do, some of them play the Windows version either in an emulator, or dual booted. There’s not much support here for Mac users. But people try. I’ll pop in from time to time and look at stuff. @CorinaMarie doesn’t use the Mac but is helpful. 3) Here’s the Mac forums. https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/forum/20-SC4-mac-users/ (You’ve probably discovered them already, as you’re reading this file.) 4) There’s 2 versions. One is from the App Store/Aspyr. The other is from Steam. The App Store version puts Plugins in a different place from the Steam version. (I run Aspyr/App Store.) Steam: /Users/USERNAME/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins App Store: /Users/USERNAME/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.simcity4.appstore/Data/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins Update 2021: It appears the AppStore version now uses a different location, at least this is confirmed under Big Sur, if the previous location isn't there, you should look for the UserData here instead: /Users/USERNAME/Library/Containers/SimCity™4 Deluxe Edition/Data/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins Thanks to ArduousCynic (SC4D) for this information. To install Plugins, you literally just put the extracted files in the proper Plugins folder. That's it. It's that simple. (Note: you have to unzip zip files & get the files out of exe files. More on that at 5.) (Note that sometimes ppl who have the App Store version will also have a "/Users/USERNAME/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins" folder. Putting Plugins in there WILL NOT WORK. It won't crash or anything; it simply won't see them & won't load them.) 5) If you want Plugins that are in .exe’s, there’s a couple of ways of getting at them: extracting the file using FileJuicer (but you need to know what files you need, which to throw out, and it’s a paid program), creating a WineSkin using Wineskin Winery and running the EXEs through that (you have to tell it where to put the stuff EVERY TIME, and sometimes it still puts stuff in the default folders/incorrect place). Using Keka to extract used to work, but I haven’t seen it work in years. FAQ on FileJuicer: Using WineSkin: 6)There’s a special version of the NAM: Network Addon Mod (MAJOR & extremely popular mod that deals with transit/roads) for the Mac. But word around is that most people find a lot of success installing it in Windows with the Windows version & then just literally copying & pasting the files over to their Mac. (Link to that later) (Note: I don't run the NAM, so any issues with that, you'll have to ask someone else. EDIT 11/12/2019: HOO BOY, does the Mac NAM installer not like Mojave (MacOS 10.14). Me and so many other folk just simply can NOT get the installer to run. THAT being said, if you have a Wineskin Wrapper set up for extracting other EXE plugins, it seems to work just fine with the Windows NAM installer. Make sure you select that you're installing it to port to a Mac.) 7) Plugin BATs won’t glow from within at night, unless they’re specially coded to glow on the Mac (and few are). DarkNite, a popular mod to make Plugin BATs glow, does NOT work on the Mac. Sorry. Here’s some BATs that are specially coded to glow at night on the Mac: https://community.simtropolis.com/tags/mac compatible/ EDIT 11/15/2019: @rsc204 figured out how to do it on a per-file basis!!! Due to limitations, it can't be done for all the files, but you can request a favorite file or 2 and maybe someone will do it for you. (Also, of course, the tools required to do it (Reader 0.9.3 and Model Tweaker) are Windows only. Unsure if they work in Wine.) The thread on how to do it starts here: 8) If you have too many files and/or folders in your Plugins directory, you may have problems with SC4 and/or it may crash. (Don't worry about the exact number, just know if you have a LOT (we're talking hundreds or thousands of files + folders), and you're having issues, give this a shot.) There’s a number of work-arounds for it, including making your directory structure more shallow (every folder counts as a file for these purposes), deleting crap (the ReadMes & image files aren't necessary for a BAT to work properly), using XML to change your system’s file limit, or using jDatPacker to turn a bunch of files into 1 big file. (FWIW, I use jDatPacker.) XML workaround: jDatPacker: https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=16500.0 9) There’s a bug with some transit BATs only showing 1/100th (or 1/1000th) of its capacity. It’s related to having a 1 in a spot where there should be a 0. @CorinaMarie can fix the files for you or show you how to do it yourself, because she’s a sweetheart. Here’s a thread with fixes requested (and a few fixes): Here’s how to do it yourself: 10) @mmprog has gotten iLiveReader to work under Wine. This is a program that lets you edit the properties of a BAT, so you can make it do what you want it to do. (And fix things like the Transit Bug.) A How-to is forthcoming. 11) There’s a thing called Prop Pox where your props disappear in certain big city tiles if you install a small handful of certain files. IDK if you can get it on the Mac, and I’m not sure there’s a Mac fix. But here’s the main Prop Pox fix (for Windows) thread and the Mac thread about it. 12) There’s something called SC4MacInjector which lets you use a few of the Windows DLL plugins, but only the ones that have already been converted. (Buggi’s Cheats (inc. additional money cheats from what’s already in the game) & Real Upgradeable City Halls included) 13) Sometimes when I load it up or Command+Tab between SC4 & other programs, the Auto Scroll (with arrow on edge of screen)/Edge Scrolling turns itself off. You can easily turn it back on again in the Options menu at whatever level you're in (City or Region). 14) Additional Landmarks, Buildings As Props, and other Maxis files can be found here: https://community.simtropolis.com/SC4-maxis-files/ (Make sure if you’re patching the game itself you only use Mac-specific patches.) 15) If you decide you'd rather run the Windows version in Wine, here's a fantastically detailed file on doing so. (Note: I haven't tried it myself so I don't know how well it works.) 16) To rotate buildings on a keyboard w/o the PgUp & PgDn keys (Mac laptops, etc.) Fn key + up or down arrow. (If you have DoubleCommand installed, it won’t work with “PC style Home & End keys” enabled.) Other helpful keyboard commands Fn + left or right arrow - changes the direction the ploppable faces Control while zoning - zones whatever size you want as a single lot Alt/Option while zoning - direction of those zones Shift while zoning - removes auto roads 1-6 = Zoom levels. 1 is all the way out, 6 is all the way in. (I usually play between 3 & 5.) ctrl+` = pause ctrl + 1-3 = play at those speeds Ctrl+R = avenues Option+R = streets R = roads T = Trains Shift + T = subway i = pipes L = power Lines QWE = low, mid, high density residential ASD = low, mid, high density commercial ZXC = ag, mid, high density industrial V = dezone B = Bulldoze ? = Query option+? = Route Query Ctrl+S=Save Any other questions? Don't hesitate to ask. (I might do a general document next.)

Running SimCity 3000 in HD (or other resolutions)
c4bl3fl4m3 replied to Cool_Z's topic in SimCity 3000
Just as an FYI, this also works using the Windows version with CrossOver ver. 20.0~b1 (20.0.0.33028) on a 2018 MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur (11.3). (The Menus at the start are just smaller, but once you load the city, it uses the full screen.) However, using some of the higher resolutions, once you load a city, using the centering tool(?) makes it hang. More experimentation is needed. The way to make it work with the Mac is to install the original via CrossOver and then to go in and replace the SC3U.exe file. Trying to use just the new SC3U.exe file in CrossOver doesn't work. The path to the SC3U.exe file, once installed by CrossOver, is incredibly long, but here it is: /Users/<UserName>/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles/SimCity3000/drive_c/GOG Games/SimCity 3000 Unlimited/Apps/SC3U.exe (Also, hey there folks I know from the SC4 part of the site! Nice to see you around these parts as well! *waves*)- 28 Replies

A couple questions from a Noob with the Mac version
c4bl3fl4m3 replied to rsc204's topic in SC4 Mac Users
I long had issues with scrolling on my Macbook trackpad, same issues as you (going up is painfully slow) (32 bit App store version). Now that I got a new Macbook (64 bit Steam version), it's actually worse, with it being slow going down OR up. So this idea that trackpad is better... well, maybe for some folks, but not for me. -
I have an Intel Mac running Big Sur and I have the Steam 64 bit version of SC4 Deluxe and it runs. (I got my new laptop and decided to go Big Sur and my partner got me SC4 Deluxe for Xmas.)
-
Hey folks, too long, no talk. I'm about to get a new Macbook. I was planning on downgrading it from Catalina to Mojave, in part because of SC4 (also because of other 32-bit games & programs). But I was wondering... how is the 64-bit release of SimCity 4? The last I checked was when it first came out and it was having issues with certain mods. Have those issues been worked out? What are the current issues with the 64-bit release? Also, does the 64-bit release have any advantages over the 32 bit? Have any of the 32 bit/"Mac release" problems (too many files issue, no nightlighting, transit capacity bug, etc.) been worked out for the 64-bit release? As well, I use Wineskin to run EXEs to get the data out of them. Is there a 64-bit release for that? Or would I be forced to buy File Juicer? Is it worth it to do the trouble to downgrade to Mojave? Is it worth it to upgrade to Catalina? What did you do? Do you regret it? Thanks, folks. You're the best.

If you’d like your game to be more Christmassy, here’s how you do it. There seems to be 2 categories for Christmas files: files that are explicitly Christmassy all year round and general files that look Christmassy at Christmas time (Christmas-enabled or Christmas-compatible). Also, there are PEG Christmas Development Kit compatible files and ones that don't use the Kit. Note: I have not tested these files for functionality, bugs, etc. Peg’s Christmas Development Kit & Compatible Files is a major mod that adds Christmas related props to compatible BATs. It’s set up to be only Christmassy at Christmas time; the rest of the year the props either disappear or are general (billboards, trees, etc.) If you’d like to make Christmas Development Kit-compatible lots be Christmassy 365, use the mod directly below. https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/19114-peg-christmas-365/ (Note: I've seen dependency references to "PEG Xmas-Dev-Kit 205". I'm assuming it's been replaced by or is another name for PEG Christmas Development Kit.) is Christmassy 365 days a year. To change the audio when you get near the village, Peg has created a plugin with other choices. https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/14379-peg-mtp-santas-village-alternate-audio/ (EDIT! This plugin is currently bundled with Santa's Village. There will be a folder that says "Audio" w/ its own Readme. To get the sound to work properly on Santa's Village, read that Readme & follow its instructions.) a.k.a. The Nick O'Laus Toy Company - seems to be vaguely wintery/Christmassy 365, but has additional decoration at Christmas Farmer’s Market most of the year, Christmas Tree lot at Christmas https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=46 - BSC Wish you a Merry Christmas (v1.0) https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1138 - SG Industrial Lots IM1 simgoober (v) requires the kit, but I’m not sure if that’s because it has Christmas stuff or it needs it for some other reason Peg also has some of the Mountain Theme Pack files be Christmas enabled. PEG’s MTP Christmas Enabled Lots https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/30679-peg-mtp-city-portal/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/30682-peg-mtp-civic-center/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/30652-peg-reindeer-rest-stop/ - small empty corral most of the year, Christmas themed at Christmas (and if you check it out on the right date, you may well see Santa's reindeer!) https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1388 - BLS D66 Knickerbockers Christmas Shop BSC (v1.0) needs the MTP but doesn't say it needs the Kit. ********** There’s a number of other Christmas files as well. Also, there’s Christmas-enabled files that don’t seem to require Peg’s kit. Some of them have their own dependencies. Christmas Files https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=542 - St. Nicholas Parks are Christmassy 365. They are a dependency for other Christmas-enabled files. has Mac-compatible Nightlighting! https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=54 - Frasier Wood Christmas Tree Farm - seems only vaguely Christmassy, would be suitable for year-round agricultural use. Contributes to the BSC Rewards System as a Nursery. https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=418 - CCPW Park Walk a.k.a. Christmas Canal Park Walk Santa's Workshop is a part of the following CAM Industrial pack. Both of the following 2 files are required (and the CAM as well, obviously): https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1140 & https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1139 This may be the same file as above just separately and not requiring the CAM, but uncertain. https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/1947-christmas-plaza/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/33414-narrow-functional-pedestrian-laneways-and-plazas/ - the sets of buildings with laneways have multi colored lights strung between the buildings over the laneways. Unclear if that's all year round or just at Christmas. (Either way, it could enhance a Christmas city but doesn't necessarily look explicitly Christmassy on its own, so it could be used for general use.) Christmas-enabled/Christmas-compatible Files Small plaza rest of year, turns into Christmas Market at Christmas. Is a dependency for some other Christmas-enabled files. (Edit: After installing this & all its dependencies, for some reason, it still doesn't show up as a market in December. YMMV.) Newman Inc. Files https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=390 - Newman Inc Main City Library https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=388 - Newman Inc Courthouse https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1089 - Newman Inc CCPW Cal's Version (v1.0) requires CCPW Park Walk BSC Christmas Files https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/17486-bsc-wish-you-a-merry-xmas-v3/ - 2 parks that turn Christmassy. One is a park lot with grass and a billboard that changes at Christmas; the other is a plaza with a Santa Claus fountain that ices over in the winter. https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/17455-bsc-wish-you-a-merry-xmas-v2/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/17420-bsc-wish-you-a-merry-xmas/ (Note: the dependencies for these can no longer be found individually, but are available in the St. Nicholas Parks.) https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/29036-telus-plaza/ - Telus Plaza has beautiful Christmas trees on the side of (one of the) Telus building(s) at night, all year round- https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2557 - SFBT Nikolaikirche gets a Christmas market in the plaza out front at Christmas time. Requires SFBT Christmas Market https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2776 - JENXPARIS Palais du Luxembourg (v1.0) gets a Christmas tree at Christmas time. Requires St. Nicholas Parks https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3214 - Dutch Opera House (v1.0a) gets a Christmas tree at Christmas time (but requires Maxis Rockefeller Center Reward BAT as a dependency for it) https://community.simtropolis.com/SC4-maxis-files/ has it (Separate Mac compatible & Windows versions, but only available bundled with others for Mac) https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/20989-macys-department-store/- Macy's Department Store gets decorated at Christmastime https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/33033-debenhams-department-store/ - Debenham's Department Store also gets decorated at Christmastime (according to the creator in a message) https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/33930-david-jones/ - David Jones receives the same decorations; flowers, buntings, and Happy New Year! https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/33944-marcus-clark-building/ - Marcus Clark is decorated in the same style. https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2043 - Myer Department Store gets it as well (same) https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/24595-ucc-central-park/ - UCC Central Park changes with the seasons, which means holiday decorations in Winter, as well as other content in the other 3 seasons. The entire Peg Utopia Mall Canal series is Christmas Enabled: https://community.simtropolis.com/tags/mall canal/ The following 4 files (which are all versions of the Memorial City Park) get a visit from Santa Claus. https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/32347-memorial-city-park-v1/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/32348-memorial-city-park-v2-with-carpark-lh/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/32349-memorial-city-park-v2-with-carpark-rh/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/32350-memorial-city-park-v3-with-stream/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/1895-crazy-petes-xmas-tree-lot/ - Crazy Pete's Xmas Tree Lot fits the concept of Christmas, but I don't know if it's decorated for it. https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/1901-maudes-reindeer-ranch/ - Maude's Reindeer Ranch also fits the concept but doesn't seem to be decorated (except for snow on the ground). This would also work in agricultural settings. https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/1884-nexis-xmas-magic/ - Christmas tree @ Christmas, lights the rest of the year https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/30164-meh-rockefeller-center-growables/ - uncertain if this is Christmas compatible, but maybe because original file is, but it has been relotted so I’m not sure if the Christmas tree made it to this lot. Props/Dependencies https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/11421-porkie-props-vol1-european-street-accessories/ - is a prop file that has some props that are decorated between december 15th and january 14th. So if a BAT calls for these props, and it uses the decorated props, it'll change. (And if you're a BATter who wants to add Christmas cheer to your lots, use these props.) https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1393 - JENX Tree Props Vol01 BSC (v1.0) has Christmas enabled trees. (IDK what Lots include these... if you know, please comment below.) FWIW, I have been unable to locate BSC Props Holiday Park RT Vol 01 anywhere, but everyone says it's included in the St. Nicholas Parks, so I recommend simply installing that to use as the dependency for the files that require the Holiday Park props. BSC Props Holiday Park SG Vol 01 MAY be included in BSC Textures Vol 02, as a file requiring the holiday park props linked to this instead, but no guarantees on that. However, we know for SURE that the St. Nicholas Parks includes BSC Props Holiday Park SG Vol 01, so that's probably your best bet. - https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/1932-holidays-at-the-white-house/ - this White House *replaces* the one in the Landmarks menu, but has a Christmas tree http://descargas.capitalsim.net/?sitio=csc&descarga=3611 - is a Christmas themed super pack from a Spanish language SC4 website - Finally, there's this forum post by Shadow where they say they released their own Christmas Market but I've never been able to find the file. If you have it, please let me know. https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=4366.0 And here's a map shaped like a Christmas Tree: I’ll admit, this list may not be complete. If you know of any other Christmassy or Christmas-compatible files, please reply with the name and a link below and I’ll be sure to update this file! Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

Bump for Xmas 2020, to see if anyone has any new BATs or mods they'd like to add to the list (also so more people see this and utilize it during the season.)
