  1. For some reason, my sims just don't seem to want to go to the hospital. I have whole city coverage, checked every health institution (all of them have more than enough free beds) and yet I get constant complaints about funding. Similar problem is happening with schools too, although it's not as consistent so I'm not sure if those are related. Hence, I'll focus on the health issue. Here's what my Health data view looks like: As you can see the problem is more acute around the south hospital, as even though it's more than a decade old a lot of folks are still red. The two bottom clinics are also at double digits attendence. I figure I could try just running the simulation a few more decades, but the north district is among the oldest and also on the red (the hospital at the top is as old as the city. I wonder if there's some ambulance simulation going on under the hood, and the reason health is bad is because those sims have congested roads between them and the clinics? I've also tried replopping the south hospital but that didn't fix the funding demands. Any insight is appreciated. I have the opera house fix installed btw, this never happened to me before (I played quite a lot a few year ago).

  5. hi there, i am still missing some quays that support my piers (lower deck) so i started to model a serie. I took the quays @ barcelona as example .. there is a part with stairs - a full block - start and end parts. I will add a 45° and a 90° part too. But my question is .. can i add pathways for citizens? i want that the animated People from CS use this instead to be "empty&dead". If possible i will update my piers too. so thats what i have @themoment: as always .. thank you for your help and suggestion btw. have a nice weekend
  6. its only in one tile so should I wipe It and just move on to another region or do more? So far i deleted all my peg lots since they seem to be considered a problem so should I do anything else?
  7. OMG Simtropolis! I was shocked to see it's still up and running, congrats guys! Quick question about C:S, I'm looking to build a town for the forum, and more aesthetically pleasing for myself. So I have a couple of questions about some processes I think I'll need. 1) Using building themes mod: I want to create my own themes, but for some reason my L1 buildings will never level up. So to make sure the process should be L1, L2 ect in similar sizes right or can I upgrade from a 2x1 L1 to a 4x4 L2? 2) Plop growables, I don't like this mod because buildings wont level up on their own, but would you guys say this is "almost needed" or are a lot of the realist builders using the games building process? Ie laying down zoning and letting cities do the work. 3) Rico Mod, some people are reporting its broken, it isn't for me but I havent added to it since before the update, has anyone had any experience where trying to add buildings to RICO makes it fail? Thanks for all of your help guys, I'm definitely not a novice C:S player when it comes to the proper gameplay, however I've never taken on a project like I want to do now.

    Are there any political/strategy games like the tropico series, wehre you can be a dictator? Or is this game series unique? Is tropico the only game that allows you to Play as a real totalitarian dictator? Or do other games like this exis5t where you can become a brutal totalitarian dictator? Is tropico the only really good political simulation game?
  10. Sickness City

    I just started playing Cities: Skylines and only a few hours in, I came upon something I never saw in SimCity 2013 or SimCity 4: the ENTIRE city was sick. Went from nearly 10k pop down to under 3k. I don't know why. It said that the health of the city was terrible but I had close to 8 health centers (clinics and hospitals). I just finished drawing up a highway and put in an incinerator so could that have done it? I don't have any other guess other than maybe a bug? No matter how many more health centers I put in, the city wouldn't get better and kept fluctuating in pop. It currently stands at ~4k. Any help for a newbie to Cities: Skylines here?

I know SC4 is a mouse and keyboard game, which naturally makes it more difficult for a TV session but besides that, has anyone ever played SC4 comfortably by sitting back in a couch and hooking it up to a real television? I like the idea of console games and would like to take my Steam library to the big screen but I'm not sure on ol' SC4. Has anyone taken the leap?

  14. I was wondering if there is any way to change a vehicle type. In the futuristic city I was working on I wanted to make an elevated pod expressway similar to what is in the movie Minority Report. I was using this mod http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=723272626&searchtext=pod as a bus and had many different routes and created elevated bus only highways with no speed limit. However, I got huge backups in my city wherever multiple routes came together. I believe that in a previous patch they made the transport vehicles wait longer at stops so each pod would stop for like 3-5 seconds for only 10 people! Since they're capacity is so low you obviously have to have many vehicles. The only way I could think to clear up the jams is to have 30+ routes. I had planned to have many routes to begin with but with 10 routes and about 200 pods I had huge issues. Even with IPT it would be hell to have dozens and dozens of routes. It would get impossible to manage and would either waste a TON of money or have people wait forever as it would get cumbersome to micromanage so many different routes. The solution to this is to have the pods be taxis, or buses and taxis. Then the spread out traffic could still ride in the pods and using the bus pods one could make routes between critical points to move more people. Then you could still build elevated expressways and simply allow buses and taxis only (or anything else you want like garbage or freight). I found that the highways with the pods looked really cool and were very efficient and fast, as well as it being possible to do near vertical sections and not having issues with functionality and looks. The only problem is when the pods get off the highway and need to pick up people, they jam up in huge lines and actually made the traffic worse! Is there any way using a mod to change the vehicle type or make a duplicate? Would it be simple to mod it on my own? I have done A TON of modding for other games but not much for CS. I absolutely hate to make a request (since I know the work that goes into modding) but if somebody could make some cool looking pods that are taxis and buses that would be great! It would be a super useful mod since with only basic testing I found that elevated unlimited speed bus-ways worked really really well, for the most part I didn't even need more than one lane, even though I was moving thousands of people. Also since near vertical sections are possible, these expressways are versatile and flexible as well as cost effective.

  16. ...Transportation Update?

    I don't remember a "Transportation Update" as listed on the Screwpile Developments website: https://screwpiledevelopments.com/screw-pile-exchange-spex/maxis-files/ I have NAM and the Steam version of SC4, and I don't remember this being a must-have...is it required if you have a fully-patched Steam version, or is it a helpful enhancement?
  17. New to Cities Skylines...a few questions and opinions! I've been watching this game since it was released but I've only now got a new PC which can play it properly (My old laptop got like 5fps). Now I'm armed with a Core i5 and GTX 970 So far I really like the game, the traffic / road modelling is so much fun and some of the mods add loads of fun features. Just a few questions: What is the best way to deal with waste? I can only see landfill or incinerator. Both get full really fast and so far a whole side of my city is just an ocean of things just dealing with waste. Can you recycle? Or send it off to a neighbour city? Can you build a dam which doesn't cut off a whole river? I need a dam to make more power for my city, but at the same time I still want the river to flow through my city. Have they got rid or increased the object cap I read about? My city has only 45,000 cims but that's - according to CS a big city haha, I don't want to leave the map empty because the game limits me. Can you get high tech industry? What is the best way to deal with awkward shaped gaps between buildings? My downtown area is filled with trees haha. Just a few opinions: The water physics are a lot of fun and really impressive. The traffic volumes are clearly exaggerated (45,000 is a small town population but I need huge highways everywhere)...but this keeps things fun. Graphics are cartoon like, but I like the tilt shift effects! Whilst there are a few things which limit game play like roads not being able to connect easily etc, I feel like effort has been put into the game unlike Simcity 2013...I give it 8/10.
  18. In one of my posts I added a lengthy, plain text output from the DirectX diagnostic thinger. Later when I looked at it it had been put into a Hidden Contents box. Did the software do that automatically or was it a mod edit? Either way I'm fine with it. I'm just curious.

    Ok, so I'm looking at my recent posts in my profile: The reply and heart counts are great! Is there an option to have it show in which posts I have inserted images? And, ideally, the quantity of same? The love count is sweet, but it could be replaced with the pic count if space constraints are in effect. ty
  20. After several months of playing Cities Skylines I wanted to get back to SC4 but my new Wiindows 10 machine would not let me launch it. I now play it through Steam but it crashed randomly. There is a program that fixes that by automatically shutting down some cores. Does anyone know the name of that program. I've forgotten it. Thanks, Dick Wright

While creating different neighbourhoods in my Boston recreation I can see a pattern that I don't like: A newly built neighbourhood with a custom building theme quickly levels up and becomes uniform depending on the level I'm locking it with the building level up control mod (after a few game-years all the buildings have reached their max level). So while in the beginning of the cycle the neighbourhood looks interesting, diverse - but all the nice lower level assets are of no use because they are quickly being replaced by the next level buildings. I know - I could limit the level of each building manually - but this is no option with a big city like Boston... Some of the asset series creators work with L1 buildings only because of that. But what do you guys think of that and how do you work around this problem in your cities? It's such a waste of time to create complex building themes and lower level buildings if everything ends up being the same anyway in no time... (And don't tell me to lower conditions for certain neighborhoods - even really bad areas have schools and parks and bus lines. And levelling up happens much too quickly). Thoughts?

  24. I want to create roads that are the size of the pedestrian paths. Something like this: I feel even the smaller roads are a bit too clumsy. My questions to the modding community are: Is it possible to do? Has it been done, and where can I find it? Is anyone with the skillset working on it? Cheers!
  25. So I was given C:S a while ago when I had a very low grade laptop. Since it had an ancient Intel integrated graphics card I decided to just leave it sitting in my Steam inventory since it wouldn't be playable. Now that I've built a machine that is much more gaming-friendly, I'm interested in playing it. I know my computer can run the game just fine based on its specs, but I'm curious as to whether or not I can play it on good graphics settings with a generous helping of mods at the same time without performance problems. Specs: - Everything is mounted on an Asus X-99a USB 3.1 motherboard, which means I can add more RAM later if need be - Win7 Pro 64-bit - Intel i7-5930k CPU (3.5 GHz x 6 cores). I haven't looked into overclocking but I definitely could if it's needed, since I know simulations are processor-heavy. - 32GB DDR4 RAM (3200 Mhz is the max on it I believe, I'd have to look again) - Nvidia GTX970 -My display is 1920x1080 1080p
