What was your approach to learning SC4?
bhmantan replied to RobVG's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
lol sorry, didn't forget about you guys. It's just considering what OP said I thought those 3 would fit the needs. Slow-paced, short, and pretty basic tutorials to introduce NAM. Yours is more like a gameplay channel to me, although I would recommend the HRW video. And Luc's covered pretty advanced stuff and the cursor moved pretty fast. So, I thought it's best to just recommend the discord so OP can ask for help directly from you guys there. -

What was your approach to learning SC4?
bhmantan replied to RobVG's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi, NAM added lots of new & complex stuff to the game, so it's fairly reasonable if it's hard to grasp everything in a short amount of time. My current approach is to pick a specific part that you want & focus on that (e.g. building GLR, highway, or just the highway interchange). Explore all the possibilities of each menu for that part, plop it piece by piece, and try to build your city using them. I recommend these channels: https://www.youtube.com/@MGBNAM https://www.youtube.com/@haljackey https://www.youtube.com/@TarkusSC4 Also, join the discord server of SC4Devotion or Simtropolis where you can ask for assistance from the NAM team. But keep in mind that just watching them wouldn't be enough. You'll need to give it a try in your city. Watch a topic, practice & get familiar with it. Good luck! -

Issue with SM2 Markham Train Station and some other Simmer2 mods
bhmantan posted a topic in SC4 Mac Users
Hi, fellow mac players. I'm wondering if anyone else having an issue with some of the mods created by Simmer2 where the game crashed to desktop when you try to plop the building. It happens with some of his mods, but an example is this station here: I'm playing the Steam version, with hardware rendering on the settings, and this launch option: -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -f -intro:off -CPUCount:1 -CPUPriority:high -Cursors:fullcolor And, a few things that I want to point out: I tried it on Windows (with Parallels Desktop) using the same Plugins folder, and it was totally fine when I plopped the station. I tried on Mac with a new Plugins folder which only contained the station and all the dependencies needed for it, still crashed. I tried running it without the launch options, still crashed. It's really bugging me out because Simmer2 got lots of nice buildings that I really want to use in my cities. At least I can somehow accept it & move on if this is because I'm playing on mac. So, let me know if anyone else also having this issue or is kind enough to test this on your mac and confirm this issue. Thank you! -
Issue with SM2 Markham Train Station and some other Simmer2 mods
bhmantan replied to bhmantan's topic in SC4 Mac Users
Hi @Tyberius06 & @rsc204, thank you for pointing out that thread & the guide. I stumbled upon that thread before but didn't read it enough because I thought it was not related to my issue. I managed to solve the issue by changing the file following that guide. This is life-changing for me! With this method, I finally can use some of the mods that's been crash before. Thank you very much! And to @rsc204, yeah, the command does nothing for the Intro. But in my case, the -CPUCount:1 actually prevents the stuttering when I place road/street pieces in my game, especially after the recent updates for the silicon. Tbh, I'm not really sure what's going on there, so I just leave it like that. Again, thank you very much! 🙇🏻♂️ EDIT: Maybe I'll try to list the mods that I found need to be updated here on this thread just for reference for other mac players. -
Thank you for these fine locomotives! They're so beautiful & I really love the smoke effects. I'm definitely going to showcase them in my videos. If I may suggest for the presentation, maybe you can add some pictures of the train with smoke effects on this page too. Just to be more clear that this is a smokey train lol

Hi there, hello! It's me again. Just want to share some corners of the town I'm currently working on. It's a nice place to hang out with friends, have dinner by the tracks, or just do some shopping. The roundabout probably will be crowded on new years eve. Also, happy new year! Cheers! Also, here's a 1-minute short video of the trains moving through the town:

Japan Mountain in Autumn (Single Tile on New York Region)
bhmantan commented on bhmantan's file in Ready Made Regions
@kschmidt I finally managed to list all the dependencies, took so long to do it lol Yeah, I find the maxis default regions really pretty because they got nice elevation and variation of landscapes. That's really a good idea. I plan to make more of this in the future as I progress with my gameplay, maybe with a larger tile in the New York region. But, I need to consider some balance with the built-in infrastructures for the players. I don't want to ruin the fun of building the city by providing too much for the players lol And, thank you! I hope you find it enjoyable to play on this tile. -
Japan Mountain in Autumn (Single Tile on New York Region)

@Cyclone Boom seriously there's no stopping these curious minds lol Thank you! I finally managed to reduce the dependencies a little bit by removing some of the decoration buildings, but it's still a long list. I hope people won't really mind downloading all of that and would enjoy playing this tile. I was initially a bit hesitant to put this into "Ready Made Regions" since it's only a single tile lol But, doing a whole region would take so much time, and I feel like some people might find it overwhelming to do a whole region. So, here we are, just a single tile. And, I might add more later as I progress with my gameplay videos. My only concern now is that one of the dependencies only has a .exe installer, so this might be a problem for some of the mac users because file juicer is not really easy to use and you need to buy a license if the trial already expired. -

@Ke|is I'm so sorry to disappoint you, but this is not a tree controller. As stated in the title, this is just a single tile for the default New York region that is ready to play with some railway networks and scenery that I made as you can see in the pictures. I initially made this for my gameplay, but since this turned out to look pretty nice, so I thought I might share it with other people so people can play on it too. -
Hi, it's me again! Just want to share some of the not-so-rural corners of my town. And big thanks to all the mod creators for their amazing works that I use in these pictures. Also, here's a short 1-minute video where everything is moving for anyone who might enjoy it:

Hi, this looks so pretty and I really like it! But it's so hard to get them to grow in my city. I haven't got any of them and I've got the one from the dependency instead. So, I just wondering if it's okay to delete all the lot files from the VIP French Pavillons to get this one more chance to grow? Also, which zone type should I use for this? Edit: I was finally able to grow a single lot, but seems like I'm missing some texture. I had to datpacked the entire NekoPropSet because there're too many of them and my region won't load if I don't datpacked it. I guess that caused this issue.

Hi, does anyone have the non-growing version of the MMP trees from this BSC Mega Props CP vol01 pack (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1180)? Specifically the redwood tree. I really like using those trees in my build, but they're growing to be really big and do not really fit well when they're in the final stage of growth.

Hi, this is from my recent MMP work of utilizing the PEG PPond Watermill and building a pond scenery around it. I really love building with most of the Pegasus work, especially the MTP and PPond series. This watermill and Finn's Landing are two of my favorites. Kinda wish that there would be a project to rework some of that buildings into HD. These two just won't chill with all the smokes Here's a 2 minutes video of the scenery compilation (with the addition of the island that I just built): And here's how I build the pond scenery if anyone is interested: https://youtu.be/2Sl6u6Zsza4
