  1. Industries of Titan

Create a sprawling industrial city on Saturn's Moon, Titan. Compete with the other Great Houses of Titan for resources, territory, and power. Do battle with ships, technology, influence, or the sheer productive power of your factories. Stake your claim to the Industries of Titan in this innovative sim/strategy game! http://store.steampowered.com/app/427940/Industries_of_Titan/ Industries of Titan is the second game from developer Brace Yourself Games. About as wildly different as you can get from the Rhythm-based Rogue-like that was Crypt of the Necrodancer, but given the overwhelming success it had I'd like to think it's in quite safe hands. I say that with some bias, given it's what I consider my favourite game of all time To add to the excitement, accomplished Video Game Music Composer Danny Baranowsky is once again working with Brace Yourself Games to create the games Soundtrack. You may also be familiar with his soundtracks for Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac, or maybe even the Twitch emote in his likening, DBstyle. Key Features, as taken from Steam page: Design your city and grow it from just a few small buildings into a massive metropolis! Set up production lines inside your factories to turn raw resources into ever more powerful devices and buildings Balance the needs of your workers, your factories, and your buildings to produce a powerful, efficient economy Design the interiors of your battleships by strategically placing weapons, shields, thrusters, and more, to reduce weak points and maximize fighting capability Overcome your enemies via tactical battleship combat, technological superiority, political influence, or the sheer productive power of your factories Gameplay is "real-time with pause" -- play at your preferred pace! Created by the team that brought you Crypt of the Necrodancer, with art by Sir Carma and Nick Gunn, music by Danny Baranowsky, and audio by Power Up Audio. 2. Stellaris

Has anyone here played Stellaris? It's published by the same bunch that did C:S. It's a real-time grand strategy game set in space where you can design and govern a star empire. I'm absolutely loving it, and the new Utopia expansion is excellent too.
  3. SAELIG - First Look !

  6. SugarMill

Hi I will like to introduce SugarMill, a indie video game I'm being working on for the past 2 years. The game is up on Greenlight to vote! What is SugarMill? SugarMill is a sandbox city building game based in the late 15 century and early 16th century when the new indies were discovered. You are going be playing within the Caribbean Sea. Once you have a solid economy and enough resources you can create a port. You will be able to place import and export orders thru the dock. However, one order can take a while to arrive since your port will not be known at all. In the game you will have to deal with the "Port Reputation" which is basically what traders and merchants have heard about your port. Hence it would make good business sense to stop at your port to buy something cheap or sell goods. In the beginning you will only receive small boats with small amounts of trade volume however if you keep a steady supply of a product your port will slowly gain better reputation, that is when the fun starts. As your port starts to gain momentum the incoming fleet of ships will change the pace of your economy. Furthermore you will deal with "Pirates Attacks", an indicator will be present to shown the risk your town faces of a "Pirate Attack". You will be able to lower this risk by building military forts, jails and others structures. You will become more and more engaged in the game as you have to manage your increasing wealth accounts as well as maintaining your town safe. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions about the game! Steam | Youtube | Twitter | HomePage
  7. I haven't seen this around in the forums for at all... But considering it's a strategy game that no one actually knows aside from around 3 community members, let me introduce to you the 2 Strategy Games made by the Japanese Video Game Creator KOEI (OF Dynasty Warriors Fame) . Actually I'm posting this because there are exciting things that they announced on the internet about the games launching in North America. The first game is called Nobunaga's Ambition. This is the very first grand strategy video game, and is the predecessor to Europa Universalis and the Total War Franchise. This game celebrated its 30 years of existence last year. I was able to play the latest one (Nobunaga no Yabou: Souzou) and the very first Nobunaga no Yabou from 1983(!) (Which was included in the pack that I bought here [For $200 for a Collector's edition it was well worth it though], It's run through ASCII), which may predate all the Computer Strategy Games. First of all, here's some of the screenies for the first Nobunaga's Ambition (I didn't know what the heck I was doing since it was all in Kanji that I can't read) The kanji means "Nobunaga's Ambition" (From top right to bottom left = Nobu-naga-no-Ya-bou) Here's an Interesting Map: And here is the battle sequence, there's literally nothing that I could understand from here I don't think that would be released in the English Version because it's very BASIC indeed The next set of pictures is from the Latest Edition of the Game, Nobunaga no Yabou: Souzou (Powerup kit). This one is a little easier to understand, although necessarily I don't know what the heck is going on between the political rivalry of this and that but it does give me some insight to the Sengoku Period. Have a look below: This is the map you used for the game. It looks rather tiny compared to EU, but the depth of gameplay is so deep that it might take you ages to occupy everything on Easy. Here are my chips right now for my saved game. As you can see I'm on my way to invade territories One of my castle towns Battle sequence This is what my closest advisers are saying. I don't know what they are talking about but they don't look happy at all Also, the game is known for its particularly detailed and accurate drawings of generals during the era, Check these below (this is page 1 of 5; there around 380 per page): http://www.nobuwiki.org/nobu_cg/souzou_01 Now here's the good news: Although the pictures that I posted above are in Japanese, I am letting you know that the game will be available in English as Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence, coming to Steam this 1st of September!. NOW RELEASED WORLDWIDE! Here is the official cover art: The second game that KOEI makes is Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The game already have 13 editions of it and is celebrating it's 30th year this year (2015). This game is set in the Chinese Mainland during the Three Kingdoms period, and it has a little more different style of gaming than Nobunaga's Ambition. This will be released only in Japan in 10 December 2015. Depending on the sales of the aforementioned game above, it may or may not be released to North America. Here's the one officer art from the upcoming game (Cao Cao): I know this is quite a lot of information for such a game but I hope you enjoy it
  8. Hey Guys! I'm looking to add people on Origin who actively play Simcity 5 on North America East 4. I am active and would like to build in a region that actually has active people!
  9. I didn't see any topics about 0Ad yet so I thought I'd mention that there is a lot of potential with this military rts game since it will have the option for full custom modding which is great. "0 A.D. is a free, open-source, cross-platform real-time strategy game under development by Wildfire Games. It is a historical war and economy game focusing on the years between 500 B.C. and A.D. 500. The game will be cross-platform, playable on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. The game aims to be entirely free and open-source. In addition, the developers do not get paid for their work, nor will they charge for their product. The game has been in development since 2000, with actual work starting in 2003. There is no official release date set for the finished version." 0AD official site 0AD official forum 0AD mods at Mod Database 0AD on youtube 0AD screenshots 0AD on wikipedia 0AD on facebook 0AD can be interpreted as a "3d remake" of the first Age of Empires game, but more historically realistic. After over 10 years of independent work the game is nearing completion. Probably the best feature of the game is the moddability as described on the official page: "WFG started out as a game modification team, and true to our heritage and the FOSS philosophy, we believe being able to tinker with a game contributes to lasting fun and learning. Aspects of the game like game logic, artwork, and data can be tweaked with tools or by modifying XML and javascript files to totally change the game." So there is a potential for making city builder game mods with this game, as RandomEd discusses his ideas for a Caesar 3 mod in this forum thread here. 10. Hi there! I’m Sergio O. from Camel101 and I'm a Sim City lover. I like strategy video games too and I want to share with you Black Talons, an strategy project which we are working for. WHAT IS BLACK TALONS? A new real time tactics game set in a sci-fi universe, featuring a mercenary commander trying to prevail in a ravaged star system. Black Talons is a new incursion on the universe we discovered on Gemini Wars. The game is still in development for Windows, Mac and Linux systems, and more details about the release date will be provided soon. KEY FEATURES Persistent and customizable squads. Deep campaign mode. The actions of the player directly affect the balance of power on the system. There is one main objective to achieve, but there's much more to do. Customizable Battlecruiser. The Battlecruiser serves as the base of operations, and can be customized with weapons or infrastructures that will boost the squad numbers, teleport soldiers or even bombard the battlefield. Faction relations. There are a number of neutral minor factions in the game. These factions will have missions available for contract work. When the player completes missions for a certain faction, the relations will improve with that faction. On the other hand, completing missions against a faction will lower the relations with it. Having good relations allows the player to train or buy units unique to that faction. Having bad relations will make that faction randomly attack the player during missions. Upgradeable and unique (per class) skill tree for all units. 5 worlds with different environments and weather conditions that directly affect the battle: rain, fog, snow, ionstorms and more insane stuff. Different unit classes with specialized roles: Recon, Tactical, Assault, Support, Engineer. Each class can carry a different set of weapons and has its own abilities. Powerful mechs can enter the battlefield with salvaged or bought equipment and weapons. Here we have the a few images of the gameplay which is work in progress. UPDATES Black Talons Teaser! This is our FIRST TEASER showing a quick glance of the mercs fighting in different environments. Enjoy it! 11. What tips does anyone have with regards to increasing the commercial and residential density to the third and highest level possible? I would prefer someone who has actually achieved this to answer instead of someone speculating...
  12. Hey, I'm running a Youtube channel and hoping to get more notice on my videos. I'm hoping to show my style of play through it so any comments/ideas people have on the video would be fantastic. Check it out at: Thanks
  13. Video games algorithmics

Hi, I was wondering if anyone know a website, or lessons, to learn the needed algorithimics to make a video game (simple, and advanced like strategy and racing games)? I'm not interessed in using the video games making softwares, I'm more interrested in the core of it, the programming of it, or more precisely the algorithmic thinking and the algorithms needed.
  14. Prima Games has a game guide coming out the same day as the SimCity game release. It comes with access to their online eGuide, which will have updated data tables. A snippet, "Learn the basic mechanics, such as building roads and zoning for residential, commercial and industrial, as well as how to manage income, expenses, city services and city specializations." And they list tons of more features. I think it will be helpful to have everything I need to know while playing the game. This is just such a bigger game with more moving parts than any other SimCity I've played (and I've played them all). Here's the link: http://www.primagames.com/pages/simcity-prima-official-game-guide
  15. I would like to open a discussion about clan/guild potential and see what the public opinion is and also possible discuss some ideas as I am looking to see how this might work in an clan environment. I know the game is probably not designed with clans in mind, but bear with me here. I currently run a clan http://warriornation.net which caters to online games for multiplay only. I played the closed Beta last weekend for as many hours as possible since there was no multiplay experience in the beta, I couldn't really get any type of measurement of what to expect. Now my clan has been around since 1997 but we've never attempted to bring in a simulation game, however I now find the new Simcity to lean toward somewhat RTS with a pause and speed button now with the multiplayer aspect added. What I know is you can have 16 cities in a region. There is a Global Market, trading in region is needed due to finite resources and so on. So I will throw out what I think are some potential concepts but please feel free to add more if you have any ideas. Bring 2-4 groups (clans) into a region each on a separate team evenly balanced. Region has a set of defined goals which each side competes to achieve. Whichever team reaches it first wins. Each of the groups must collaborate with one another to figure out the best configurations to achieve set goals, such who will focus on what, what type of city with each cater to based on locations, skill sets. Trading and sharing of money obviously occurs within each own group so they can work together, however trade with the other group may or may not occur depending on circumstances. A strategy example might be to build your dirty cities on the edge of the other groups cities to smog them out, devalue land, or casinos to send crime over. Or you might capitalize on the dirty cities the other team sets up and use it to send your Sims over to work, thus increased income. I'm sure if a strategy is put in place and two groups of players can agree to play it out over the course of a week, month or whatever. With 16 Cities possible in a Region, once could even carve it up into 4 groups (Clans) with 4 players on each team. I wonder what mechanisms might exist in the game in order to set such goals or gauge when there is a winner to those goals. Oh and just in case a SC developer is reading this, I have a recommendation for your first expansion. War and Diplomacy. Add war planes, tanks, missiles, satellites for offensive and defensive. Keep it somewhat limited so you cant nuke another city but possibly paralyze certain industry by strategic but limited strikes to reduce income or cause citizens to become refugees for example, lol. Anyone here had any discussions or thoughts about clan/guild/group type playing in this fashion or other who may want to share and discuss. I really would like to make this game work in a clan environment if possible. I think it could be if the rules of engagement were there. Anyone interested?
  16. Well I've been playing the game for a while now but still haven't completed anything yet. I've tried numerous strategies to my liking but always end up with my sims not having enough jobs. I've tried a multitude of strategies to my knowledge and somehow I get stymied. When it comes to neighbor cities, the land size somewhat throws me off. For instance, if I have a Medium sized city next to two small sized cities, then what should the purpose of the small cities be? Should they be the same purpose? Should I make the Medium sized city for Residential and Commercial, and the two small cities Industrial? Sorry if it all doesn't seem clear. Basically, if a city is supposed to serve a purpose then how well could one accomplish that? And what is the best taxing system to use? Because once your Education go up, as well as health, R$$$ takes of the map and cause tons of trouble. I've even tried making a poor R$ city just with a few R$$ citizens and things still ended up bad. Please help anyone
