      Outages - Some Promising News   09/21/2018

      Update: 25 Sept, 2018 @ 13:20 EDT Dirktator our Webmaster has adjusted the site's server configuration in attempt to resolve the degraded performance. Should this provide a notable improvement, we will attempt to bring the STEX fully back online later this evening and see how it goes. Here's hoping! For now the STEX remains online to members only with the same download throttling in place. Update: 25 Sept, 2018 @ 08:00 EDT As previously mentioned we are temporarily adding a few limits for member downloads. Transfer speed will be dropped to 1,024 kB/s (previously 2,048 kB/s), one download at a time (previously unlimited simultaneous downloads), and a 10 second delay before the download starts (previously a zero second delay). Again, these are temporary measures we are taking in the hopes that it will keep the site from going totally offline. Update: 25 Sept, 2018 @ 07:15 EDT The site went totally unresponsive twice overnight. Cyclone Boom was able to get us going again. The underlying server issue is still eluding us. We will need to go the other direction in an attempt to balance member access to the STEX while not losing the site altogether. This means the planned reopening of the STEX for guest downloads will be postponed and we may need to place some temporary limits on members such as reducing the file transfer speed, the number of simultaneous downloads, and a short waiting time before the download starts. To be honest, this really sucks. On the other hand, any usable access to the files will be better than none at all. We appreciate everyone's patience while we struggle with these problems. Update: 24 Sept, 2018 @ 21:00 EDT All seems to still be working with quick response times. As mentioned below we will continue this test until tomorrow evening before adding guests back to the settings. Tis now my bedtime so please don't break anything while I sleep. But, if anything seems wacky, please post in the ST Bugs Thread. Update: 24 Sept, 2018 @ 19:45 EDT We've been up for one hour with this STEX test and so far server loads are looking good, page load times seem normal, and avatar hover overs are mostly zippy fast. The plan is to run with this configuration until tomorrow evening to give us plenty of time to see if the site stays responsive before we add the STEX access back for guests. (Rest assured, dear guests, we are not trying to force you to join ST. It's just that we have to figure out what has been causing the site to totally crash.) Update: 24 Sept, 2018 @ 18:41 EDT We've brought the STEX back online for members only as our next test. This test might also overload the site as there is some underlying bug which we have not yet identified. Both Cyclone Boom and I are here to keep an eye on the performance. Should ST get overloaded and go down you will first start seeing long page load times and eventually 522/524 errors from Cloudflare. At that point CB will work his magic and then you'll start seeing a 403 Forbidden error. (This means all access is blocked so the site can re-recover.) And then in about 10-15 minutes we'll bring it back without the STEX again should this bad stuff happen causing the aforementioned site crash. See also: My initial Bugs Thread post and CB's recent post there saying we are up in test mode for members. Update: 23 Sept, 2018 @ 22:22 EDT The site stayed up a wee bit longer, but still succumbed to whatever is causing the trouble. At this point we are taking the STEX and the Gallery offline, but will try to keep the forums going. Update: 23 Sept, 2018 @ 18:59 EDT Cyclone Boom has optimized all database tables which is sort of like defragmenting a hard drive. We've brought the site back online and are hoping it helps with the problems. The previous message (below) still applies until we are sure everything is fixed. Previous message: Simtropolis is experiencing random spikes of heavy server load and excessive lag to the point the whole site becomes unresponsive. We've been taking it offline to let it catch up with the load and then bringing it back. This is the best stop gap measure we have at the moment. If you are creating a new topic or post I suggest making a copy and paste to a text editor before clicking the submit button as we can't be sure it won't go offline at the wrong moment for you.

      A Separate Bug   09/24/2018

      We are also having trouble with the Contact Us thinger. I do receive them (and they come to me as an email), but now when I reply they immediately bounce back. This could be due to peeps providing invalid email addresses or it could be an actual problem. I do reply to all of them so if you don't get a response within 24 hours you might consider sending me a private message here on ST instead. -Cori (PM me here.)

  1. I need a white floodlight that can shoot light 200m into the sky. Is it possible to mod light effects? The vanilla "Flood Light White" (type: Spot, intensity:: 8) shoots light about 80m, as you can see here (from the base up). IRL those base floodlights light up the entire column.
  2. Am I not allowed to add lights to an asset with DummyBuildingAI? I saved the asset w/o the light just fine. Then I placed one prop light, tried to save again and boom, error. Anybody know what's going on here?
  3. Like say you wanted a certain part of your asset to always be illuminated no matter what? For example i'm trying to get the advertisements on the roofs of my taxis to always have light at night but only manage to get them to light up when the car is using it's breaks. The headlights are of course always illuminated but can i get my advertisements to follow?

    San Foca 2.0 After a long break and Besides trying to recover data of cities after my hard drive died I recreated a more modern and realistic version of San Foca. I posted in the forum of AIN several images in the new version of San Foca and generally to Siculia even if you are currently the accomplishment of some cities in Cities Skylines. But now let's see San Foca. Here is the old part of town with a nice high speed railway train station A canal in the city centre The industrial zone of San Foca This is the national monument of the fallen for the fatherland We move in the main street where there is a high speed train station An area where citizens of San Foca live in peacefulness A piece of the Ain Nations embassies The autobahn in San Foca The Sun is setting and the light at night will light up. This scene seems catchy with this music And while the electric lights replace the sunlight here is the autobhan at night The Federal Parliament during thenight The President's House and the Palace of ministries San Foca and the sea Another area where there are embassies with a high speed rail terminal During the night the city becomes magnificent Here is the highway with its tunnel that divides the old with the modern part with its skyscrapers Finally we give a small insight in the financial district of San Foca And with this news bomb, is now closing!   5. Hello all, Not sure if this is the proper forum for this so apologies if it is. I am looking for the light blank tile in the TMIP (Taxiway Marking Improvement Pack). Before when I had it on my other computer it was in the airport menu. I have used it as a filler before. I have AC MEGA textures and AC MEGA props. Am I missing something? They are like both the pictures below, the "lead out" tiles but without the yellow markings. Much appreciated Carl
  6. Hi, I'm new here So I just got my new MacBook and installed Cities Skylines. Its running fine and smoothly, but theres some weird problem with the lights in the game... There are these hexagons around everything that produces light. How do I get rid of them? (I'm aware that Mac's are not particularly made for gaming, I still have another windows computer but I don't always have access to it... It would be nice if CS was playable here )
  7. Description The Expo Line is a Light Rail service in Los Angeles (USA) run by the LA Metro company and is named after the Exposition Boulevard. The line features unique artwork on every station and runs from 7th Street/Metro Central (Downtown LA) to Downtown Santa Monica and was opened in 2012. More info Joak and I decided a while ago to recreate a part of the line. He would make some stations, and I would do one or more trains. The result: Joak: Jefferson, Santa Monica & 7th Street Station. Tim: P3010 Train, Expo Line catenary, wires, rails and textures. The stations and train will be released as soon. I made the other stuff to show what Network Skins will offer in the future. See for yourself! Note: Not all segments/nodes of all networks look as they should.
  8. Hey, just wan to show of my first sirius mod, what do you think? It is the DT5 from the HOCHBAHN the public transport company in Hamburg, GER http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=768353544 I got some problems with lighting i havn't figured out yet due to the fact its traveling backwards. An the Trailer up front had no Headlights mey anybody have suggestion for that.
  9. Hi all Simtropolians, I would just like to ask some for some advice on how to texture buiding after the After Dark Expansion. I have noticed that my Buildings have a very weird colours after they have been imported to the game, and on Blender they look totally different with the textures on. It happens mostly with yellow (of course) and whites. Therefore, is there any kind of guideline on colour management for texture in Cities Skylines? Any tips, advices, comments, anything that could help will be GREATLY appreciated. Cheers, keep calm and mod on
  10. I've been working on few train assets and I've been having this very annoying issue. No matter which of my custom train assets I use, all of them will have this faint orb of light in exactly the middle of the asset. Does any1 know what its purpose is and is there a way to get rid of it? Usually the orb is inside the model when the model is on normal scale but when scaling way up, like 10x, its outside, attached two screenshots of it. Also, its not just in the asset editor but ingame too.

  12. Night light problem

    I used to BAT quite a lot, but I haven't BATted in many years, so I forgot some of the stuff. I feel a little silly asking this, but I've modelled a simple sign on GMAX with the appropriate spot light for night lighting (named niteliteSpot01). I can see the desired night effect, both on preview and as it exports. I also checked the FSH of the exported model on the Reader and the night lighting overlays are all there as intended. I have also not forgotten to switch "light" to TRUE when creating the prop from the model, on the Plugin Manager. And yet, there are no night lights when I get ingame. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

Hi everybody , this post is about a tech question : is that possible to have tail lights of the cars "on " even during day time? ....i noticed that when you swich from night to day , for a while , some car keep lights on , the FX is cool , actually seeing stops light during day time adds realism , 2 considerations 1)since tail lights are already implemented i was wondering how hard is to have a script done that forces traffic to have always lights on even during daytime 2)A more skilled task could be to have "headlights off" and taillights "on " during daytime , this will give a very realistic touch , since in the reality STOPS/TAILS lights are always working. (see attachment) Comments?

  16. I have a problem with the street lights and the lights at the base of the buildings. They look very flashy and are really ugly to look at. I have the latest update for the BAT lighting but it doesn't help. Does anyone know what might be the problem?
  17. Hey guys, i hope someone of you can help me. I bought yesterday SimCity (2013) and i only get about 30fps, even if i had not built anything. I tried to lower down the graphic and nothing helped, till i set the light to lowest and boom i get over 130 fps.. I can set every graphics to highest but now light, why? I hope you can help me! :/ Pc specs: Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 925 Processor 2,80 GHz Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit RAM: 8 GB RAM Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 5670 DirectX 11
  18. Hi there. I cant seem to find this issue any where else. Does anyone have the same problem as I do (re attached picture) where the night lights are displayed as blotches of primary colours? I have downloads the EP1 patch and the BAT patch as instructed and it still seems that my night lights are a little over zealous. Any help would be appreciated.. cheers Craeon
  19. Hello once again. So I downloaded my dream castle/palace and I absolutely love it!!! It is the crowning jewel for my empire. It has a working waterfall and everything!!! Sadly there is one massive problem. There is no nightlighting. So that draws us to my question. Is there anyway to add nightlighting to a building through some sort of tool. Help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
