  1. As promised, this is an update regarding my experimenting with deconstructing and decentralizing a seasonal tree controller that got started over in my original thread, Help with Everseasonal Flora. As the problem that I was looking into grew to not be within the scope of EF, I felt it was more prudent to create a new thread dedicated to it. As I said in the other thread, this grew from a desire to produce an evergreen version of the Cascadia Tree Controller by Blunder. Theirs has easily been my favorite tree controller for awhile now but I've always had an issue with the hitching that it and other seasonal tree controllers cause on the seasonal tick. It was only relatively recently that I worked out how to use Reader, so it's possible that this work's already been done and documented, but I'm posting it here for my own sanity when I inevitably forget about what I did down the line. Long story short of it, I believe I've worked out a way to seemingly brute force seasonal flora to either not change at all or to make their changeovers far less prevalent using the FloraParameters. Setting parameter 1 to its maximum (10,000,000) would theoretically, assuming that the documentation in the How to make/edit a tree controller tutorial is accurate and denotes the seasonal tick rate in half-days, lengthen the seasonal tick rate to roughly 5 million in-game days, or roughly 13,700 in game years. I'm not going to complain about one stutter every 13,700 years, assuming that's what this will actually do. I don't think I've ever kept a given city tile going that long. The problem was that only setting parameter 1 to 10 million introduced a yearly stutter of the same severity as the seasonal tick. Figuring that it had to do with parameter 6 (set at 363 in Cascadia) I also set it to 10 million and the stuttering just... stopped. No monthly stutter, no seasonal stutter, no yearly stutter. My hypothesis is that parameter 6 is a second timer, this one measured in full days, though I'm unsure what it might be timing. Maybe the moisture simulation? Regardless, I think I've managed to deconstruct a seasonal tree controller such that you could swap between them using SC4PAC (or through manual swapping) at will without the hitching that naturally comes with seasonal tree controllers. Now granted, I've not had the chance to test this as a long-term solution so I have absolutely no idea how a long-running game might fare. The usual warnings for running tree controllers still apply. But running the game for five in game years saw neither stutter nor tree changeover. If others that are eminently more qualified than me wish to test the controllers out, I can provide the files. I'm just not sure if I should given it's someone else's mod that I'm mucking with. I'd also welcome any thoughts on how to actually turn off the seasonal system, because swapping RKT4s to RKT1s and designating the model you want for the TC (Fall, Winter, or Summer) doesn't seem to do it on its own.
  2. I'm experiencing a strange problem when using the tree brush feature in god mode. What appear to be rather futuristic looking light poles with circular tops appear in place of some of the tress (see attachment). At least I *think* they're light poles. They don't actually illuminate at night as I'm using the Mac version of the game. I gather a problematic light plugin is causing this issue but I can't figure out which one! Can anyone identify these light poles so I can remove the plugin from my folder?
  3. I installed the God Terraforming in Mayor Mode but it doesn't seem to work. I dropped the file into my Plug in folder and ran the install application. I cannot find the God features. Any suggestions?
  4. Olympic Tree Controler

No matter what I do I cannot fill the bald spots on the edges of the tiles. I used Flora Blast but then I tried to fill in the spots with the God Mode tree tool and I only get shrubs in those spots. The terrain is completely flat and the edges are reconciled. I've tried everything I can think of to get ride of them. IDK if this is happening because of Olympic Tree Mod or if the Vanilla code would do the same thing but I'm super OCD so this is a problem for me. Any Ideas? The Mod is great by the way just FYI.
  5. Is there a Mod out there that allows you to Reconcile just one edge of your city, or just a localized area? I'm really tired of having to fix all the spiking and or dropping corners that you get from trying to make a region from scratch and being OCD and yeah.... If there's not an app, any advice on how to dodge all the frustration im feeling is welcomed.
  6. Hi there, when i use God mode tree, this happens. Beautiful taxiways all over the place instead of trees. Can anyone help me on this? thanks
  7. The tutorial you're going to read is based on a discovery I made back in 2013, when I was working my final entry of My Maxis Project city journal, and by reading the title of the topic you'll be very close to what we're going to talk about. But first, let me show you a small taste of my terrible landscaping skills Let's begin from the peak of this mountain. I have a mod that reduces the altitude needed to get snow, so I can have it without the need of rising very tall mountains, and planting those snow capped trees is a brilliant to make it nice and realistic. Now, some of you might ask why there are pines with no snow on them. This is because the terrain mod I have changes its textures almost every month, including the snow, so sometimes I have more snow and other times I have less of it. Which means that if I'm at the maximum quantity of snow when I'm planting those snow capped trees, odds are at the very next month I'll have those very trees at green landscapes away from snow, which is even more silly and crazy And here are some deer, looking for something to eat. Ah, yes. Plenty of details. Until now I used to just cover my landscapes with the Maxis trees. And that's all. Now I'm going for more details and variety, and a more naturalistic result, including flowers, bushes, dead trees, logs etc. I'm actually using the alternating textures of my terrain mod as a guide to paint my happy little trees and flowers. I also made a small lake by using PEG PPOND KIT. Of course I know it's ugly and it's definitely something I need to improve. But for now, it is what it is. Some animals have come closer at the shores of the lake, including wild boars and deer. And llamas. As well as humans. And this is where the lake ends, to a larger body of water by a small river. Watch carefully and you'll see turtles, corals and fishes. By the way, speaking about humans, I even made a small park, with picnic tables, parking sites for cars, an old donkey engine, and an observation tower to enjoy the view. Look closely and you'll see a robot helping at maintaining this site. And if we'll follow the small path to the woods, we'll find a small lake to swim and have some fun. Don't jump from that big rock, though. You really don't want to dive to such a shallow lake. And a last picture. Just for the goodbye. So, we have plenty of Mayor Mod props at our city tile, so of course we're at Mayor Mode. But wait a minute. If that's true, what's going on with our UI? Why MySim Mode is deactivated, along other buttons? And why the God Mode has the original tools instead of the Mayor Mode ones? That's because... we haven't been at Mayor Mode at all, all that time! Need further proof? Here we are. We have no name in our city, because we have no city at all here. And if you click at this very tile when you're on region, you'll not get the ordinary information, because there is no city here, because this tile is at the God Mode. So, it's possible to have Mayor Mode props at a God Mode tile? Yes, it is. We're going to get down and dirty very soon, as well as exploring some of the possibilities of this. But first, just before this cliffhanging ending, here is a very basic tutorial to give it a try by yourself. 1) Go to any region you want and pick any pristine tile you please. As you can imagine, that tile should be on God Mode and it should not have any city on Mayor Mode. 2) Found a city at this tile to open the Mayor Mode toolbar, and thus having access to your MMPs. 3) Have fun painting your tile with whatever MMPs you have. Make your landscape as awesome as you want it. Make sure however that you only use MMPs and nothing else. No lots, no parks, nothing urban at all. Only MMPs. 4) Happy with the result? Have you finished customizing your tile? Are you sure you're done with it? If yes, obliterate them all! Yes, you read that right. Click at the God Mode button and select Obliterate City. This is the key of this trick. Obliteration removes any trait of civilization, such as roads and buildings, but lets any MMP untouched. And this is exactly what we want, which is also the very reason why you shouldn't add any lot or have any kind of city at this tile. No sit back and enjoy. You just have Mayor Mode props at God Mode area. Why you might want to give it a try and what kind of incredible things you can do with this is coming soon. Stay tuned and watch this space
  8. Hi! On YouTube I have seen a video that shows a guy who can use God Mode during playing a city. What do I need for that tool? I have seen he can set trees very quick but I am not sure if it is becaue of the godmode... It would be great to have godmode after founding a city but first of all I am looking for a way to set many trees quickly. It always is bothersome to set any single tree...
  9. I'm currently preparing my region for gameplay and am at the point of planting forests. I use the god mode tools (CTRL-ALT-SHIFT god mode). However, I cannot change the size (diameter) of the tool. I could bet there was a key combination to increase or decrease the affetcted area, but I cannot remember. Using CTRL+ NUMPAD-or CTRL+NUMPAD+, or anything like that doesn't help.
  10. I decided i wanted to switch from the Italia River tree controller to the olympic tree controller. I demolished all trees that i planted with the old one and then switched them but it somehow still places the old trees that i used even in new cities and even though the file isnt even in my plugins anymore. Can anybody help me out with this? I tried to look for answers but couldnt find anything.
  11. I just discovered an interesting hidden feature in SimCity4: in a developed city, you can re-enter Full God Mode (like you have before you establish a city), by holding down Ctrl-Shift-Alt while clicking the Sun icon. Now, do beware: these tools are powerful and many of them will destroy existing roads, buildings, etc. (For instance, if you try the "raise terrain" or "lower terrain" buttons, a single click will destroy everything in your city! (Except for trees and garbage dumps; those are apparently indestructible.) However, certain tools are useful, such as the "plains" tool for quickly leveling areas, the "mountain" tool for adding a mountain, the "tree" tool for adding old-growth oak trees (the only way to do that, I think), and the "wild animals" tool for having giraffes walking across your front lawn. :-) Now, some people reading this probably already know of this feature; but my guess is, many don't, so I'm dropping this discovered nugget of knowledge here.
  12. Hello fellow SimCity-lovers. The mod "God Terraforming in Mayor Mode" doesn't work when I have installed it. It simply doesn't show up on the left menu as it should. I have SimCity 4 Deluxe bought on steam. Does any of you know how I can make it work? Thanks in advance. You can see the mod here:
  13. I noticed a bug, while terraforming a new city ; with a very full game folder (not mine ; I was troubleshooting my companion's game, but the problem presented with my Working folder --very much less full :-), we got this when plopping trees in God Mode : plane trees ! Eucalyptus !! Date palms !!! argh. With an empty folder, the good old maxis tree reappeared. GO to halfsies, then. And finally, the culprit is HBS Californian Trees ; with it only, we got this (with the empty test folder) : I know Christmas was two days ago, but... :-) Without HBS Californian trees, the game reverted to Maxis trees, with all plugins folders, Game F. Work F and Empty. Relief ! *** Additional note, which is a question: I was under the impression that with Twrecks Tree replacement mode, planting trees in terraforming god mode would plant his replacement trees. It doesn't Was I mistaken ? I re-read the readme but I am not 100% sure I understood that part.
  14. Hello. Why my game crashes when my God mode brush forest reaches out of map? Basically can't let my brush hits our of map while planting trees. I am using Pacific Northwest Tree Controller.
  15. I cant seem to figure out how make the god mode flora work. All my trees work fine in mayor mode but no trees appear in god mode. I have 2 flora add ons. Arden and hbs Californian Mediterranean.
  16. The TerrainQuery "cheat" is a very useful tool for me. I wanted to use it when creating a new region but it is unavailable there. Both query tool icons are greyed out so the command just sits there in the background with no way to access it. Is there a way to use this in God Mode pre-incorporation? Is there a similar tool available in God Mode? Is there a mod?
  17. I'm a fan of Blunder's Cascadia Tree Controller. It was working just fine before I uninstalled SC4. Now that I've come back and tried to reinstall everything (and yes I do have all the dependencies installed) I'm missing two specific props: "transition Aspen High" and "transition Aspen Low". Now, I have no idea which if any of those dependency packs were supposed to have those props, but once I hit the magic elevation, those two—and only those two—tree types just won't appear and I get the missing prop box. Well technically a funny multicolored thing that the Opps/Oops mod puts up instead of boxes. I've installed and reinstalled everything on the tree controller dependencies list, but I'm just stumped by this. At the least if anyone knows which dependencies contain those two particular tree models, I'd have a place to start looking for the problem. If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. P.S., I'm in China and have to use a (very slow) VPN to do much of anything online, so I'm not really at liberty to provide and pictures, though to be honest all you'd see is a box with the pointer hovering over it listing one of the aforementioned aspen types.
  18. Since there is no request thread or forum yet, I'll just plop this here. The way it is now feels very unintuitive. The hills are mesas until you use the soften tool that despite that you can adjust the brush size and strength I usually find myself to erase parts of the terrain that are great until I try to spiff up a specific area. A problem I did not really remember to have in SC4. So therefor I'd like to request a mod that makes the editor more like the SC4 God Mode. [Re-posted , topic closed as requested].

Cascadia God Mode Tree Controller ~by: BlunderThis is a seasonal tree controller designed to give trees generated by your god-mode flora brush the appearance of a mix of flora from across the pacific northwest. It features a large selection of flora, including deciduous mixed with conifers, evergreen forests, scrubby slopes, meadows, alpine wildflowers, etc. There are 2 versions of this file; one with MMPs and one without MMPs. Also included are uninstall support files, so that it is possible to switch away from this controller without removing all flora in your cities first. Tree controllers are advanced game mods with many issues if you're not careful. Because of that it is VERY IMPORTANT to read the documentation first! Failure to do so before posting issues/complaints may lead to 'RTFM'-isms. For more screen shots please see this entry of my CJ. Contents: There are 4 files with this controller- Cascadia_TreeController_WithMMPs.dat Cascadia_TreeController_noMMPs.dat CTC_uninstallsupport_WithMMPs.dat CTC_uninstallsupoort_noMMPs.dat The first 2 are the tree controller. Choose only ONE. As the name states, the first also has MMPs while the other one doesn't. As this controller is made up of a whopping 38 brushes you might not want to clog your MMP menu with the MMP controller. The other two files are only for uninstall support so that you don't have to bulldoze all the flora planted with with this controller if you ever desire to switch tree controllers. Do not have one of the bottom two files in your plugins if you want to use the controller. If you only wish to use the MMPs but not this god-mode controller, choose the file CTC_uninstallsupport_withMMPs.dat. All 4 files are fully interchangeable. Compatibility: Due to game mechanics there are no such thing as compatible tree controllers. Therefore you must remove whatever existing tree controller you are using (such as Vortext's, CP's, Heblem's, my old one, or a God Mode patch like for the PEG pines). BUT FIRST you must remove all flora planted with that tree-controller. For this reason it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you switch tree controllers only when starting new cities; new regions would be even better. Loading a city tile that has trees on it from a tree controller that no longer exists in your plugins will result in a Crash To Desktop. Installation: 1. Do what it says under Compatibility; bulldoze all trees from your previous controller on tiles you will play on, then remove the old controller file from your plugins. Alternatively, instead of manually bulldozing your flora, you can use the extra cheat 'flora off' followed by 'flora on' to remove all flora from your city tile before installation. Note that this removes ALL flora on the tile and not just what was planted with the god-mode controller (requires extracheats.dll addon) 2. Place this tree controller file in your /Plugins directory. 3. Install all of the dependencies in your /Plugins directory too. 4. Plant those trees! Uninstallation: If you ever wish to remove this tree controller, you do not have to bulldoze all your existing flora. Instead simply place one of the CTC_uninstallsupport_**MMPs.dat files in your /Plugins directory and remove the Casacadia_TreeController_**.dat file. This will allow your already planted flora to continue to exist without brown boxes or crashing to desktop. Known Issues: Tree Controllers are advanced mods and you should not underestimate their capacity to Make Things Go Wrong. 1. CTD- As mentioned above, any flora from an old tree controller must be removed before the old tree controller file is deleted from your Plugins or a crash will occur. A lesser known issue is that if the file with the old MMP brush is gone but the model file still exists in the plugins, the tree will still show up and the game will be playable. However if that tree gets destroyed (either by bulldozing or by changing the elevation of the terrain underneath it) this will also cause a crash. 1b. Sometimes a crash occurs when the tool hits the edge of a city tile. This can have two possible causes: 1- It's a multicore issue, so set your -CPUcount:1 tag in your desktop shortcut. 2- Your game is not updated to at least version 1.6.38. Go update it. Getting it to version 1.6.40 would be ideal. 2. Performance- All tree controllers have a significant detrimental effect on your game's speed because of the large number of items they place in your city. To make matters worse, this controller contains a large number of small and HD items placed closely together. These factors mean that this tree controller will likely completely destroy your game's performance. You can mitigate this somewhat by turning shadows to 'low' in your graphic settings while planting trees, and only turning the shadows back up to 'high' when you're done. I HIGHLY recommend turning shadows to 'low' while planting, then turning them back up to 'high' later. Recommended minimum PC specs: 2.5GHz or greater CPU cores, 64-bit OS with the 4Gb address patch applied to the simcity4.exe file and at least 4Gb RAM. Tree controllers also usually behave oddly on multicore processors. Try setting your -CPUCount:1 tag in your desktop shortcut if you experience graphic 'jumping' while planting or other issues. Note that this is not a universal rule, and some multicores actually handle the game quite well, so test as you will because your mileage will vary. 3. Terrain Controllers- These mods of visual goodness interplay with Tree Controllers in a number of ways. a- Cliffs. If you use a 15m Diagonal Jagged Edges mod (DJEM) you will have trees landing on your cliffs. This is because the variable that controls where cliffs appear on your landscape is found in your Terrain Exemplar and is called MaxNormalYForCliff (MNYFC). A DJEM sets MNYFC to .77. However I have calibrated this tree controller for my own personal use to work with a MNYFC of .65, because mountains look much better with a lower MNYFC. So have your bulldozers ready if you tree around cliffs. b- Snowline. Both the snowline on your terrain mod and the treeline of a tree controller are modifiable variables, and if you have modified your own snowline or are using a terrain mod other than Lowkee's or Gobias' then you will have to adjust this manually to your own settings. Advanced users only: To customize your treeline, open the ilive's Reader tool. If you are using Lowkee's or Gobias' terrain mods, then open the file **Properties_**.dat. If you use any other terrain mod, open the file zLK_FloraTuningParameters.dat (see dependencies). Which ever you opened, look for the exemplar file that is named Flora Tuning Parameters. The variable you want to alter is called Flora: Elevation Scale Range. It will take trial and error on your part to determine what value of this property works best for you. A note on useage: Often I see people using my PNW tree controller to just lay down a bare minimum amount of trees that comes from quickly swiping the tool over the terrain. This is not how a tree controller is meant to function. It takes time moving the tool over an area to apply the full range of flora; so be sure to take your time planting trees! You will notice a large difference in the time it takes to cover an area between the lower elevation and higher elevation trees. The lower stuff takes up a much larger space and hence is placed quicker. The tool works very quickly on the lower elevation stuff. However the subalpine and meadow content is very, very small, and likewise requires a significantly longer amount of time to completely cover in trees. You might want to use the alpine stuff sparingly as much of it is not visible from region view and because it’s HD it will bloat your filesize. (For those of you who worry obsessively about prop pox and filesizes: don’t. Flora does not write to the network subfile and hence does not contribute to prop pox). Because it’s seasonal, you need to plant trees about September 1. Anything planted between Aug 5 and Sept 4 will change seasons at the same time, so you have some leeway as to when to plant. Dependencies: There are several dependencies for this tree controller. If you use flora MMPs at all you likely have all of these already. Yes there are a lot. No I don't care, because there isn't some magic alternative where they're bundled together; it's this or nothing. Make darn sure you have the latest update of these files; many have been updated since their initial release. Credits: First, a great big old THANK YOU!!! goes to CP and Girafe for BATing all this excellent flora that we get to work with. I also have to give a big shout out to Lowkee for documenting much of the current knowledge about modding flora and tree controllers and for all his contributions to the community. Mad props go to my testing crew, including but not limited to Paeng, Simcoug, Vortext, Tariel, Shroud, Nos17. Also big thanks to the whole simpeg crew who offerend their thoughts, constructive criticisms, and support on this project. And last but certainly not least, a big thanks to you for downloading. Feel free to drop any and all thought in my BAT thread; Blundered BATs over at simpeg.com

  21. Mega God Mode Tree Brush

    Version 1.0

Hi! This is a mod what enlarge the brush of the trees on the god mode. Holding Shift and clicking on the center of a city large, you can fill all the city in only 1 click. (but, maybe take some time cause the game get slightly slow. I could fill an entire large city in 1 minute, using the Big+ brush) This zip contains 2 archives. The "BigPincelArvores" and "Big+PincelArvores". The second brush is larger than the first, and it is that what can fill an large city on 1 click. Be careful: when using the Big+ brush, never use that on their max size on the large city border, you can get a CTD. When will work on the city borders, use Shift + (number 1~0, 1's brush is smaller than the 9's, and the 0 is the default size) to redefine the size of the brush. To install, put on plugins folder. If dont works on the first time, make a folder no the plugins folder called "ZZZZZZZ" and put the plugin there. The pics are of the size 7 and size 1 of Big+ brushes. The maximum size border doesn't appear on the city cause its is larger than the city. Hope you enjoy.

Teirusu "Rain Tool" Additional God Mode Terrain Tools 2 This plugin file contains the 'Rain Tool' that is needed to construct land bridges or plop water lots above sea level. The water created by the rain tool will only last for a single game session. When the city tile is reopened the rain water will no longer be there. The blank terrain can then be filled in with any ploppable water as desired. To use these tools, extract the file and place the folder in Documents\Simcity4\Plugins. To access the God Mode tools in game you need to press ctrl+alt+shift and click the God Mode icon. While the rain tool has no dependencies, an excellent alternative although not essential, is to use the following mod, by Warrior: God Terraforming in Mayor Mode God Terraforming in Mayor Mode Compact: This useful mod, places the God mode tools alongside the Mayor mode tools in the Mayor Mode terraforming menu and replaces the need to ctrl+alt+shift to access the God Mode tools. The Aditional God Mode Terrain Tools 1; by Tropod, is available here: Additional God Mode Terrain tools (This plugin file adds four additional terrain tools to the ‘God Mode’ menu.) - Cori edit: Fixed linkys and missing images.

    * Included in the Version 1.02 update is improved (closer) clustering. Existing trees will not be affected until you "paint" over them with the God Mode Flora tool. This PEG MTP Series MOD upgrades the appearance of the pine trees used in the PEG God Mode Pine Tree Mod as well as the ploppable PEG Pine Forest lots. This a direct replacement for the PEG God Mode Pine Tree Mod so you can delete that after this mod is installed. Once installed properly, this mod will automatically update all the PEG Pines used in your cities... anywhere the God Mode Mod was used... and on any lots that use the trees. You will not have to replop anything although you may wish to run the God Mode cursor over existing areas as this new mod uses different parameters and spacing. This mod does not affect any of the older PEG Pines placed using the PEG Mayor Mode Pine Tree Mod. Those trees still exist for backwards compatibility and you can continue to use them via the Mayor Mode menu or for your own lot development. ** This file has no dependencies. All Pegasus files are now legacy content and are no longer officially supported - however support from the wider community can be requested here.
