Cockatoo Presents… World Trade Plaza Modding / Lotting, Custom Menu Icons & Readme – Cockatoo. Original models – Rubik3 and the BSC team. Overview: In the original upload of the World Trade Centre complex, there are three black plaza buildings (WTC’s 4, 5 & 6) that fill out the area around the base of the two towers. These buildings have always looked great on that lot, but sometimes are obscured by the towers themselves, so I’ve created a lot where two these buildings (WTC’s 4 & 5) can be seen clearly. They’re positioned on a sprawling plaza lot that should easily fit into any downtown or commercial district. I’ve modded two versions, the first, World Trade Plaza, is a plopable commercial that provides a good amount of medium-wealth jobs and the second, World Trade Park, provides a park effect that should encourage commercial growth. These lots were made with the X_Tool, so they don’t spread malaria to third world countries! In this download there are two versions included: Plopable functional COS§§ providing 4310 medium wealth jobs. Plopable park lot. For those who use Submenu DLL and have WTC Complex - SC4D LEX Legacy - BSC Custodian Rubik, you can find the lots in the WTC Submenu. The stats are as follows: PLOPABLE CO§§ Size: 20x6 Occupants: CO§§ 4310 Power Used: 190 MWh per Month Water Used: 215 Gallons per Month Flammability: 40 – Stage 4 Garbage Generated: 18 Tones per Month Air Pollution: 12 / 5 Tiles Water Pollution: 16 / 6 Tiles Bulldoze Cost: §2010 Plop Cost: §132,440 Menu Position: Landmark Menu, near bottom PARK Size: 20x6 Power Used: 42 MWh per Month Water Used: 65 Gallons per Month Flammability: 0 – Stage 0 Garbage Generated: 0 Tones per Month Air Pollution: -240 / 26 Tiles Water Pollution: 13 / 13 Tiles Bulldoze Cost: §130 Plop Cost: §4800 Monthly Cost: §600 Landmark Effect: 140 / 10 Tiles Menu Position: Park Menu, near bottom Dependencies: This lot is made up almost entirely of external dependencies. You will need to make sure that you have every single listed dependency installed before you can use this lot. I’ve broken with my usual policy of trying to keep dependencies to a minimum, however most of the packs used are very common… and really are great props in themselves that are worth the download anyway. SC4D LEX Legacy - BSC Custodian Rubik WTC Complex This SC4 Devotion LEX Legacy Pack features the complete set of World Trade Center Complex (Pre 11/9/2001) by @rubik3, including Props and Lots, which had been available on the Lot Exchange (LEX) at SC4 Devotion. It includes the contents of 7 previously separate downloads. After battling a number of technical issues, software incompatibility ultimately shuttered the LEX (at least in its familiar form from 2007 onward) in June 2023, and this package is designed to collect these dependencies in an easy-to-use form, allowing users to install them all in one go, or carefully select exactly which packs they wish to install. Do not redistribute without asking first, mostly as doing so would complicate efforts to properly maintain, update, and provide technical support for the pack. CONTENTS: BSC MEGA Props Rubik3 Vol01 - WTC Props BSC Rubik3 WTC Landmark BSC Rubik3 WTC Placeholder BSC Rubik3 WTC Reward BSC WTC Submenu As Rubik said in the original WTC upload's description: INSTALLATION: Please note: if you had any of the older versions of these contents (including the now added One and Two World Trade - came as: WTC_One World Trade.dat and WTC_Two World Trade.dat), first you must bulldoze them in your cities, then remove the original files from your Plugins. This package is a simple .zip file. Copy/extract the BSC and CAM parent folders into your plugins (or equivalent, if you have a custom Plugins folder location). If you extracted the ~Documents folder into your plugins, too, it's highly recommended to keep it, but move it out of the Plugins folder. It is highly recommended to run the cleanitol with the installer and remove any previous versions from your plugins. Optionally in the ~Documents folder in the main ZIP you can find a collective/master and separately all the individual cleanitol files and by using either the newer nos.17's SC4 Cleanitol or the older BSC Cleanitol tool you can search and remove old and outdated versions of these files. DLL DEPENDENCIES: In order for the contents of this package to display correctly by taking advantage of the new DLL Mods requires the complete installation of the following dependencies (the below listed dependencies are covering a full install): Submenus DLL - You need it to get the package submenu working. Compatible only with the digital version (1.1.641) of SimCity 4 (Microsoft Windows and Linux only). DEPENDENCIES: The following files are required in order for the contents of this package to appear correctly (i.e., no "brown boxes" or missing textures) (the below listed dependencies are covering a full install; for dependencies for individual collections see the readme_bsc_custodian_rubik_wtc_complex.html in the ZIP. Bear in mind that the original readmes are also available in the ~Documents/BSC_Readmes folder, but they have not been updated): SC4D LEX Legacy - BSC Custodian Rubik WTC Complex v1 (and above) - INCLUDED The below listed dependencies are all can be found in the hereby linked dependency pack compilation. BSC MEGA Props - Rubik3 Vol01 - WTC Props v2 SC4D LEX Legacy - BSC Common Dependencies Pack v9 (and above) The below listed dependencies are all can be found in the hereby linked dependency pack compilation. BSC Essentials (custom queries for the CAM lots) BSC MEGA Props - SG Vol01 v4 CSX MEGA Props - Vol01 v3 CSX MEGA Props - Vol04 v3 BSC Textures Vol01 BSC Textures Vol03 v4 Foss Construction Tower Crane - You need them to make the cranes appear in the WTC Placeholder Lot. Colossus Addon Mod 2.1.1 - (only if you want to use the growable versions of the two tower lots). CREDITS: The following BSC members contributed models, textures, and modding support to this collection: Rubik BarbyW callagrafx RippleJet SimGoober This package has been made possible by the Project ZIP efforts of Tyberius06, and was assembled by Ulisse Wolf. Special Thanks Webmaster & administration staff at SC4Evermore and SC4 Devotion. For memo for subsequent updates on the NAM/Java installer. And possibly others who may not have been mentioned. If your name has been forgotten or you're not on the list, then drop us a line, as it has been difficult to keep track of anyone/everyone that may of helped somewhere along the lines. And to the community itself, we would also like to thank you for your support, making mods such as this possible too. We're still at it after 20 years thanks to you! And last but not least, a thanks for the Maxis individuals too, for the [paid] work that they did. ;-) We will never forget 9/11, the victims and the heroes of this day- 1 Review

If you were around then, share your memories of the event. I was on a re-model when a co-worker came in and told me about the first plane crash. I thought he was joking, so I drove home and watched the second tower get hit. Then news started coming in about planes hitting the Pentagon and elsewhere. I, and a lot of others thought it was the start of WW3. In a way, looking back, it was.

New York City begins at the historical Lower Manhattan Financial District. I chose to use the original twin towers because of how much an icon they were to the city. The Twin Towers are still present in many businesses and company logos in around NYC. The new towers are beautiful as I have visited them myself, but still they require some getting use to, with that said long live the Twins and those who perished on 9/11 . Ariel view from the south over Lower Manhattan looking north. Southeast looking west you can see Battery Park below. My attempt at re-creating Battery Park feels a little bald to me may end up re-doing eventually. Looking north over the World Trade Center with shops, restaurants, apartments and offices below. World Financial Plaza can be seen at the left across West Street. Looking south over the Twin Towers below you can see the Downtown club and the Brooklyn - Battery Tunnel Entrance later renamed the Hugh. L. Carey Tunnel. Below is closer look at the Battery Parking Garage. Today the neighborhood consists of only a few Italian stores and restaurants. It is bounded on the west by Tribeca and Soho, on the south by Chinatown, on the east by the Bowery and Lower East Side, and on the north by Nolita. Chinatown and Lower Eastside Chinatown: A neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City, bordering the Lower East Side to its east, Little Italy to its north, Civic Center to its south, and Tribeca to its west. With an estimated population of 90,000 to 100,000 people, Chinatown is home to the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere.[5] Manhattan's Chinatown is also one of the oldest Chinese ethnic enclaves. Brooklyn Bridge: Construction on the Bridge was started in 1869 and was completed fourteen years later in 1883. It was originally called the New York and Brooklyn Bridge and the East River Bridge, but it was later dubbed the Brooklyn Bridge. However, it was not named as such until the city government passed a law to that effect in 1915. Over the years, the Brooklyn Bridge has undergone several reconfigurations; it formerly carried horse-drawn vehicles and elevated railway lines, but now carries vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic. Replies: Simmer2: Thanks again for your comment! Tyberius06: Thank you. There's about nine months worth of images and SC4 builds, they're good but even better stuff is coming along. TMTS: That's why I chose the forest ambient track! Always works. mattb325: Diggis streams are so beautifully versatile, all part of the process I guess. Thanks for your comment and your buildings! This CJ would not be the same without your creations. Vigilante1987: Even in ugliness there can be aesthetic beauty. Thanks for your comment! svenson: Cheers! PaPa-J: Ouch! Something similar happened to my hands when I created that entry, it took so long... Thanks for the comment! {---} Recreating New York After taking an extended break, thanks to the Summer Holidays and going to London, I'm back into SimCity 4 and into a new project of mine: The Big Mango. What is The Big Mango? It is a downsized recreation of New York, in particular lower and central Manhattan, parts of west Brooklyn and parts of Union City and Jersey City. The key skyscrapers and landmarks will be there, but the rest is an artistic interpretation of New York: I'm going for the New York aesthetic and the general feel of each area: Wall Street, Lower Manhattan, Central Park, etc. This is a miniaturized New York and one where I squeeze every last drop out of SimCity 4. With that said, here is what I have so far. 1. This project began with terraforming an outline of the landmass. A few small things will need tweaking though! 2. The WTC Complex and Brooklyn Bridge were the first landmarks I placed. 3. Next I worked on Wall Street, the southern most part of Lower Manhattan. 4. This was my first take on it, but I later realised I needed to expand the shore to the right and include One New York Plaza to really get the feel right. 5. I also, for the very first time, began using Pegasus CDK3 Marinas and piers. Great stuff even though it's more than a decade old! 6. Another discovery was using JENX's Paris river walls (Seine) for ocean walls and slopes in general. 7. One New York Plaza would be going into the place of the theatre and the aqua building. I knew after finishing at this stage that something was off! 8. I purposefully left gaps in the skyline to catch some glimpses of the streets below. 9. And here is The Big Mango as it stands right now! Now I've got the outline and Wall Street exactly as I want it. 10. Since it's impossible to get Brooklyn Bridge right in SC4 (unless your Korver and decide to create a brand new BAT), I wanted to get the elevated highway feel on the approach of this amazing bridge. 11. Another thing I realised is how even in Lower Manhattan there are ridiculously small buildings surrounded by apartment blocks and skyscrapers! Showing this made the areas come to life. 12. No use of the lot editor here, just placing down those plugins! 13. I turned my attention to the west area of the WTC Complex and I included Four World Financial Centre and Three World Financial Centre, I also widened the landmass to include a mini port. 14. In the top centre of the picture I used nbvc's (small, but good) sea walls as a retaining wall by the four-laned road. So today I discovered a new use for them! 15. This area looks right with One New York Plaza! 16. Going back to the Brooklyn Bridge area. To the left I used Marrast's sea walls and found a way to create an interesting diagonal area with only a few odd textures here and there amongst the diagonals! 17. 18. 19. 20. {---} For more New York / The Big Mango pictures, keep your eyes peeled on the "Show Us What You're Working On" page! See you later!

BoldlyBuilding's World Trade Center - Finished!
boldlybuilding posted a topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
Hi all! Some of you may have seen some of my other buildings for Cities: Skylines, mostly based on old Simcity 3000 buildings. I've now decided to create a thread for any future custom asset projects. Now, I spend a great deal of time these days working to help bring back to life something that is no more: The Titanic. However, I do get a bit impatient while working on miles of corridors, so there are other things I tend to like doing, like creating buildings for Skylines. In this case, I'd like to recreate another great piece of engineering lost to the often cruel fluctuations of history. So, as my next project, and my most ambitious Cities: Skylines project yet, I'm going to create the World Trade Center complex. I know it's been made already once or twice, but I'd like to try to create the most extensive, complete, and accurate representation of the towers yet, including not just the towers, rooftop details, an accurate hotel, WTCs 4-6 (and possibly 7, haven't decided yet, that'll be the last thing), but also the plaza and lower/street level details. To do this, it will be made to be easily plopped in-game as 11 (or 12 with WTC7) pieces within a more or less square area, with everything contained entirely within each lot. I wouldn't mind finishing this by 9/11, but I can't promise that as I have other things to do, too, and I have no idea how long this will take. Here's the first look at what I have so far (don't mind the apparent high poly count. It looks like a lot now, but it will be reduced from the more hi-poly stuff now): Below is how the site will be split between lots. The site just barely fits within a 255 meter width limit, where two lots 16 squares deep is enough to reach the center of the complex. More to come soon-ish! EDIT: I changed the name of the thread to "Boldlybuilding's WTC" since this has turned into a bit of a WIP thread about that.- 95 Replies

Last night at 3am, 3 skydivers jumped off 1 World Trade Center. One of the three skydivers, a former ironworker during 1 WTC's construction, wore a helmet camera, and filmed the jump. You can see the video here: The full article about the story is here Note: The jump doesn't happen till about 2m45s the link above the video will take you directly to the jump on youtube.

I have updated my Twin Towers I BATed back in September to bring you a new version! I felt the updated was much needed after finding some time to do so. I feel now they stand as they should for SimCity 4's standards. I'm sure most of us already know about the Twin Towers, what they were, what happened to them, etc. They were once great landmarks located in Lower Manhattan, in New York City. They were once the tallest buildings in the city and the state of New York. Standing on top of either tower would give you a feeling of being on Top of the World. If you'd like to learn more about them, feel free to read their Wikipedia Article for starters. Personally, I find them to be marvels of architecture. I miss them highly, and I hope that they can stand indefinitely in SC4 at least. Installation Instructions: You do not have to demolish any lots. You can either delete the original model files from the previous upload and replace them with the new model files, or you can simply use the zip file to replace all files at once. The lots are exactly the same previously, the only change is the model files. Stats: Each tower sits on a 5x5 lot. Each tower is CO$$$ and provides about 21,000 jobs each. They are ploppable landmarks only, and are found in the landmarks menu. Dependencies- None! All added props for these towers are included. Special thanks to Mattb325 for modding the first version, then doing some more modding work for the new version. Thanks as well goes to T Wrecks and Gn_leugim for their opinions on this. I hope you all will enjoy this update! I tried to update the original upload and unintentionally deleted it. -Brandon- 41 Comments
