Hi guys, this lot is a park-reward building called "Piscina Pubblica" in English "Public Swimming Pool". It's a reward lot which gives 80 jobs. In addition it has a positive park effect, major rating effect and health effect. It requires: - 30.000 residential population; - 1.000 high wealth residential; - at least one hospital has been built; - at least 15 parks. It costs 15.000 § to build and 200 § per month. I'll wait for your comments and suggestions. Have fun- 3 Reviews

A brief analysis of the attributes of health system
carlosmarcelo posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi all people. Usually, I change various attributes in mods what I use and I did it with “Hospital Patient Capacity”, increasing a lot of capacity of maxis hospital, clinic and in this mods: More Realistic Radius, GooberGen Hospital, SC4 Regional Public Safety, Fire Station, Hospital, Police Station. But, when I simulated a dense city, around 300k in 2 km², I needed put 6 hospitals e 2 clinics and it is not enough. This fact seemed very far from reality to me, which motivated me to make new adjustments, but I didn't just want to increase hospital capacities even further, I wanted to understand how health parameters operate, even superficially. I asked about other parameters (Hospital Effectiveness vs. Average Age and Hospital HQ boost) in Got I quick SC4 Question ask here, however I need see in the practice. I don't intend to do a mega, incredible and deep study how @RobertaME in Education Modding: The Devil's in the Details, , but I thought that this information can be useful to other people. Well, I will start with the simple, short, global and mainly conclusion: in fact, the hospital itself determines how many people will get sick and go to the hospital. Hahahahaha. It is strange and paradoxical, but my tests identified that the quantity of patients is controlled directly by the attribute “Hospital Effectiveness vs. Average Age”. I did dozens of tests, but I will put some data here to post doesn’t become very extensive. All tests were did in the same initial zoned small city, without industry and pollution, with just one regional hospital and with mods to increase demand and cap relief in the max. 1) Hospital HQ boost The reader definition is: “Amount of monthly HQ boost from this building. HQ can range between 0 and 200 and is automatically reduced by 3 each month, so to have a net positive effect this number should be greater than 3.” I admit that I didn’t understand this explanation because I don’t know how I measure this behavior. I just increased and decreased default number (11,52000046) and effect is below. Hospital HQ boost = 11,52000046 Approximately 22 years to city reach max in life expected. Hospital HQ boost = 140,6000061 Approximately 2 years to city reach max in life expected. Conclusion: the higher the number, the faster the population becomes healthy. Is it totally correct? I think yes, however, feel free to put your experiences too. Curiosity: I ran tests with negative numbers too: the city's health map was flashing red and green like a Christmas tree… 2) Hospital Effectiveness vs. Average Age I spent most of the time on this tests because there are more possibilities and needed more time to effect observations. Well, we start by reader definition: “Maps Average age of a tract to the % HQ boost the hospital gives the tract”. I imagined this parameter works similar as “School Effectiveness vs. Average Age”: pairs of values to represent the effect by age group over time. Part A: discovering the numbers The default value is “0,8,100,8” and I deduce that 0 and 100 were, respectively, start / end years, so, I needed to find out what represents 8. During tests, after dozens of years passed, I noted that population reaching a maximum and constant number (thanks @CorinaMarie for the NKO!!!) and, for coincidence, numbers of patients in hospital was a constant too. Well, I got numbers of patients and divide by population resulting in approximately 0,0798 or… 8%. Eureka! I did tests with others numbers and behavior was the same. Conclusion until here: in the pair, the first number is a year limit to second number, that is a % of population (quantity patients that this hospital will have) to first number. Curiosity: if all hospitals of your city (until 2 million people) are very very overcrowded, regardless of how many there are, just remove all hospitals and put a just once Disease Research Center: all patients will disappear “automagically”. This happen because in Disease Research Center the Hospital Effectiveness vs. Average Age is “0,3,100,3”, therefore, the total number of sick people in the entire city will never exceed 3% of the population and it has a very high capacity (62k). The standard maxis hospital has low capacity and 8% of sick people per population, therefore, by removing the overcrowded hospital and putting Disease Research Center, it is as if 5% of the sick population were cured immediately because we removed the hospital. Hospital Maxis with 8% of population sick (6531 patients) 6531/81630 = 0.080007 = 8% Disease Research Center with 3% of population sick (2449 patients) 2449/81630 = 0.030001 = 3% 6531-2449 = 4082 people instantly healed!!!! Part B: changing behavior What would happen if I changed the value to 0,3,100,8? The expected is note a growing in number of patients while people get older. I started the city and I was measuring according to table below. We can note in initial years the % patients / population is near to 3%, growing in next decades, until 70 years, near to 8%. Curiosity: I didn’t know about this: with constant population, the entire people ages together and around year 73 or 74, suddenly, most of the aging people give way to a large new generation of young people. It is reason to decrease abrupt after 74 years. 10 years: young city 50 years: old city 80 years: renewed city Question: is it possible to change this people renovation? Someone knows what attribute to do this? Conclusion until here: in the pair, the first number is a year limit to second number, that is a % of population (quantity patients that this hospital will have) to first number. The first pair is initial values and second pair is final values. Part C: bringing to my fictional reality I did me this question: “Could add other pairs of numbers?” I did a lot of tests and confirmed it is possible!! So, I thought how can be a “real” behavior of health by age of population: I believe that children and teens need medical care more than young adults who are in the prime of their health, and they go to the doctor much less often. On the other hand, older adults start to need to take care of their health more often until the elderly certainly go to the doctor more often. Based on this assumption, after some tests, I have constructed the following values: 0,3,20,1,50,5,70,7,100,11. Or, by graph: In this graph, the red line represents my supposition about % patient / population by age. The orange dashed line represents a trend of red line. The blue line is standard maxis (8%). The behavior was not exactly like the red line, but I felt me satisfied with this: I’m satisfied because in a starting city, in addition to the young population, the mayor has less money, so he can keep the city's budget low for health care. However, he needs to make the city prosper as the years go by for a population that will age over time and need more health care. And I understand that this, making the city prosper, is another challenge aligned with the objective and essence of SC4. 3) And now? All tests and results were realized in the same small test city. I put in my dense city (around 300k in 2 km²) and the behavior was a few strange, although the behavior expected was the same. I can’t discover why in this moment and in the next weeks, so, I decided to create this post to, maybe, help other people or other interested parties can realize tests too. Thank you for reading. See you next time. -

This small 1x1 pharmacy lot is designed to fit in W2W environments, particularly those with Scandinavian themes. You'll find it in the menu with your other health and medical related buildings. It's named after the Norwegian town of Grimstad, but as far as I know it's not located there. Special thanks to @Oidaas for creating such a wonderful building! The attached screenshot shows my custom pavement (created through @rsc204's MTRDK) and grass (Lowkee's Appalachian terrain mod). As far as I know the used texture ID's are standard, so it should work whether or not you're using particular mods. Let me know in the comments if you run into any trouble! Precious friends, This won't be my first controversial post or last probably. If only one person's life is saved, it will have been worth it. Across the West, societies are experiencing EXCESS DEATH. This means higher than than historical norms (corrected for COVID medically certified deaths). These numbers are too high to simply be randomness (there are statistical methods to test for this; standard deviation). Although this is showing up for all forms of death, it is clear cardiac issues have seen a sharp increase. In the UK, at home deaths increased by 35% over the last year. Now, in a developed country how do people die at home? It has to be fast ... cardiac failure. Also, some may have noticed an epidemic of professional athletes experiencing cardiac incidents ... footballers in Europe. The increase cannot be explained simply by LOCK DOWNS; although the LOCK DOWNS did have health consequences, no doubt. This trend coincides with the introduction of vaccines in mid-2020: mRNA (Pfizer, Moderna), and Adenovirus (AZ-Oxford, J&J) ... Well, you can find out how "emergency use" allows adverse reactions to be ignored, and how such findings have been suppressed. Please before getting a shot or guiding friends and family to do so ... research EXCESS DEATHS, ATHLETE CARDIAC DEATHS, MYOCARDITIS, and ENDOCARDITIS, then make your decision. Now, many have already had some number of shots, but don't get caught in the investors "sunk cost" mindset of "throwing good money after bad". The data seems to indicate a single shot is sufficient to produce adverse health consequences, but follow on shots increase the risk. A good place to start is with Dr. John Campbell of the UK. Note: YouTube is highly censored. He cannot say the above, but watch and you will see him making this point using official data from the NHS (England universal healthcare) and other official government sources. I am not saying COVID is not a serious illness (I am exceptionally high risk), but the Pfizer vaccine will one day have been found to have caused more harm than COVID. It is also looking like much of the "long COVID" may actually be vaccine related disability. So, have an open mind and do your own research. Doctor Campbell is a good place to start. My you live a long healthy and happy life. https://youtu.be/B3_bqcvDxvI

In light of recent news about Cori's absence and current recovery, I proposed creating an off-topic thread dedicated to mental health. This space would serve as a safe space for discussing life, issues, or seeking conversation, especially for those who may be in a similar space to Cori. In a world where mental health is important, establishing this thread felt necessary. Having personally struggled with mental health and having a dear friend who attempted to take their own life, I believe a thread like this could offer even a small measure of help to anyone in need. Apart from offering a platform to share and seek support, I'll also include valuable links and contact details for UK and international mental health resources for easier access on the site: UK numbers and useful sites: Samaritans Available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress, despair or suicidal thoughts. www.samaritans.org 116 123 (free to call from within the UK and Ireland), 24 hours a day Email: jo@samaritans.org Mind Mind offers advice, support and information to people experiencing a mental health difficulty and their family and friends. Bergen Fish Market & Tourist Information Center, by Mattb325. ----------------------------------------------------------- While the combination of a fish market and tourist information center might seem a little peculiar, it is indeed, a real thing. Inspired by the Bergen Fish market, this building acts as a reward. Almost shaped like a wedge of sushi, it is clad in dark timber that is punctuated by brightly colored fins that light up at night. I have this building an overhanging prop: when placed, the cantilevered section can overhang the water, piers, seawalls/marinas, roads, streets, etc, for a more dramatic effect. This building is offered as a non-conditional reward that has a somewhat similar base function to the farmer's market (but is altered substantially). It provides 31 very desirable civic jobs, boosts commercial and residential demand and lifts caps for R$ and R$$ residents so is a great option to help when residential demand drops. This building is: * Offered as a reward without needing to meet pre-existing conditions. * Located in the REWARD Menu * Can be placed more than once in a city. * It DOES NOT over-write any ingame or custom rewards. --------------------------------------- STATS: Lot size : 4x2 Plop Cost: $4,500 Monthly Cost: $20 Budget Item: Government Buildings Occupant Groups: Reward, Park, Health Other Jobs: Jobs$: 20, Jobs$$: 10, Jobs$$$: 1. Description: One area of policy in recent years focuses on the enormous potential for fixing budget shortfalls by legalizing - and then heavily taxing - medicinal and recreational marijuana use. It's up to Sim Nation's mayors to determine if the balance is right for their city. This facility will bring in §400 of tax revenue for just 1 tile of space each month and assist with health, but will also drive up petty crime and depress land values in the area. But, if your Sims are recovering from surgeries, migraines, or papercuts, the doctor is in and a prescription is on the way! There are two lots - one basic lot for those who value "no dependencies" status, the second adding vending machines and a line out the door. Inspired by the dispensaries at Venice Beach, CA. The UC Clinic, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Inspired by the old (and long demolished) Union Club which once stood on Bligh St, this is a smaller medical facility for towns or to supplement larger hospital care. Unlike the modern connotations of a union, this club housed university professors, alumni, medical professionals and the like. Being a member of this club granted one access to the top echelons of society, so I have made it a luxury clinic. The lovely Georgian style sandstone building with its striking basement are an unusual feature for SC4 buildings. On a 3x1 lot it is also quite a useful size to fill awkward gaps left over by diagonal or FAR roads and standard zoning. The lot comes is a ploppable Clinic, which is found in the Health Menu and is has a decent capacity (1,650) and radius (624). It also provides up to 62 civic jobs across all 3 wealth categories. It works well in a old town environment as well as a suburban high street (where you can place parking behind the building). While I have made very large hospitals in the past, I actually like these smaller civic buildings as they are really useful in terms of getting sims into jobs: especially when making larger suburban areas. --------------------------------------- STATS CLINIC: Lot Size: 3x1 Occupant Groups: Civic, Health, Strikeable Health, Hospital, BSC, BSC-Mattb325 Plop Cost: $1,150 Jobs: Jobs$16; Jobs$$35; Jobs$$$11 Buldoze Cost: $70 Power Consumption: 3 MWh Water Consumption: 10 Gal/month Pollution: 1 (Air)/ 1 (Water)/ 0 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 3/4/0 Hospital Coverage Radius: 624 Hospital Pop vs. Distance: 100 / 100 Hospital Effect vs. Ave Age: 8 / 8 Hospital Patient Capacity: 1,650 Hospital HQ Boost: 11.52 Catalog Monthly Cost: $ 600 / $ 100 --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. Description: The Nurses' Monument is a fictional green marble statue dedicated to the nurses of the pandemic. This is a sort of sequel to the Medical Researchers' Monument, but partly inspired by - yet not a recreation of - a cartoon by artist Bozorghmehr Mosseinpour about the pandemic. In the monument version, a nurse carries her patient from the danger while being exposed to it herself, represented by the serpent, which she is battling with a weapon. Emmaus Retirement Home, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- This is based on a real building from Italy. The Casa Di Riposo Emmaus Retirement Home is offered as a non conditional reward that offers health benefits, 120 jobs in all wealth levels, Residential CAP relief, commercial desirability and residential desirability for your cities. While the building is not a 100% recreation of the real one, the BAT is reasonably faithful to the Streamline Moderne style that was popular in the middle of the 20th Century. This BAT works really well in Wall to Wall environments by being able to break up the double row of 1x2 lots with its dual street frontages (the actual lot is 3x4), but as I have modeled windows and other features on all sides, it works equally well in any other situation. The lot is found in the Rewards menu. It can be placed as many times as you want without having met any prior conditions. It also doesn't over-write any other rewards. --------------------------------------- STATS RETIREMENT HOME: Lot Size: 3x4 Occupant Groups: Reward, Health Other, Cemetery (the building is named 'Emmaus' after all!), Dog Magnet Plop Cost: § 6,100 Jobs: Jobs§ 40; Jobs§§ 70; Jobs§§§ 10 CAP Relief: R§ 20,000; R§§§ 180,000 Landmark Effect: +80 over 30 tiles Park Effect: +80 over 30 tiles Bulldoze Cost: § 560 Power Consumption: 3 MWh Water Consumption: 56 Gal/month Pollution: 1 (Air)/ 2 (Water)/ 11 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 2/3/0 Budget Item Cost: § 30 --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. Modern Hospital, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- This is a purely fictional larger style hospital. This building houses an emergency department, surgery, pathology, outpatient and other clinical facilities typically associated with purpose built hospitals. Curiously, in SC4 hospitals take up a very small footprint, so in reality, this would be a small to medium sized hospital, but to accurately replicate real-life arrangements would take well over 30 tiles width and depth! There is a real lack of large-scale medical facilities in SC4. Hopefully this goes some way to addressing that gap. The patient- (up to 32,000) and jobs provided- (up to 6,100) capacities are also very large to reflect the real estate that this building takes up. There is a helipad built into the hospital. The helicopter on that helipad is not functional. The lots however do count towards the medical helicopter mission in the UDI. I have deliberately avoided using the in-game helicopter tag automata as this casts a strange and terrible shadow across everything and UDI is not something I typically use at all. This means that if you use the UDI function, you will notice that the helicopter may hover above the hospital trying to land for an extended period of time after the mission is completed. If this is likely to bug you, simply remove the occupant group 0x0000151A in the reader or add the helicopter tag in the Lot Editor (ensure that all instances of the hospital are bulldozed prior to making these changes). However, if like me, you don't use the medical helicopter UDI mission, you will never, ever see any of this at all and the previous paragraph can safely be ignored . The lot comes in two flavours: a 10x10 lot with parking spaces suitable for a more "suburban" set-up and a 7x6 lot without parking that is suitable for a more dense urban area (if you use the 7x6 lot, simply place one of the ingame or many custom garages to simulate parking). You can use both lots simultaneously and do not need to choose one over the other. Both lots have identical stats. Each lot has a different query and menu icon to enable ease of selection and are found adjacent to each other in the health menu. --------------------------------------- STATS MEDICAL CENTER: Lot Size: 7x6 and 10x10 Occupant Groups: Civic, Health, Large Health (Medical Helicopter),Strikeable Health, Hospital, Ambulance Maker, Crowd White Coat Plop Cost: § 7,400 Jobs: Jobs§ 1,200; Jobs§§ 3,600; Jobs§§§ 1,300 Buldoze Cost: § 700 Power Consumption: 120 MWh Water Consumption: 250 Gal/month Pollution: 3 (Air)/ 2 (Water)/ 1 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 3/4/0 Hospital Coverage Radius: 2,440 (153 tiles) Hospital Population vs. Distance: 100 / 100 Hospital Effectiveness vs. Average Age: 8 / 8 Hospital Patient Capacity: 32,000 Hospital HQ Boost: 11.52 Budget Item Cost: § 2,400 / § 400 --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: There are two model files in this download. You must select the appropriate file from the download. The file suffixed with 'DN' is for those users with a night-time darkening mod installed. The file suffixed with 'MN' is for users who do not have any such mods installed. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. Rite Aid is a drugstore chain headquartered out of Camp Hill, PA. It is the third largest drugstore chain in the United States behind Walgreens and CVS. Its first location opened in Scranton, PA. After a 2015 attempted merger with Walgreens was unsuccessful, Walgreens bought right around half of Rite Aid’s stores at that time. Rite Aid now primarily operates in the northeast, mid-Atlantic and west coast states. Lot functions as a small clinic in game. A standard-issue Planned Parenthood clinic for your cities. I felt there was a need for a women's clinic in game. This has the same stats as the standard small clinic and can be found in your Hospitals menu. Lot is based off of my Anytime Fitness that @RRetail did a while back. Disclaimer: this is not the time or place for political opinions on women's health. Building Education & Health Buildings: Big vs Small?
Psiman posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
When building a city, I more often build the larger versions of education and health buildings, mainly so I don't have to have an elementary school or small health clinic at the end of each street or so. My city isn't full of skyscrapers, and so the usage/local funding slider for these buildings is low, especially for education buildings which use only a small fraction of their capacity. I suppose if the city had ever got to high-density then it would been good to have had things all ready prepared, so it would be just a matter of adjusting the sliders. How do you go about building education and health buildings in your growing city? Do you go for the big buildings with their large radius, but little-used capacity, or small buildings, which would be more efficient in capacity used, but have small coverage area and thus require greater numbers? Or maybe a mix of both, in some organised way? -

More Realistic Radius v1.0 By: BrianD90 Hosted At: STEX This mod increases radius on most civic buildings to improve realism. The small high school and elementary school have had their radius doubled. The large versions of each can cover an entire large city tile. The library has had its radius doubled also. I kept the small schools down to just double so you can still ease usage of the large buildings where needed. Its silly that the large schools could not cover an entire city but you won't be able to "cheat" by only placing one as it will become overcrowded very quickly. The private schools have been increased by 25%, I kept them small so they can be used in "higher income" areas. To prevent people from only using 1 police or fire station in a large city I've only doubled their radius. The landing strip will cover the entire city and the deluxe police station has a slightly bigger radius than the large police station. The police kiosk remains unchanged. Hospitals can now cover an entire large city but same as large schools if you attempt to use only 1 it will quickly become overcrowded. The clinic remains unchanged as to ease hospital usage from low to medium density areas. Enjoy! This is my first "mod" -

TL-Glenni Stokkdun Hospital (11x10) What can I say ? It’s a big honking old style hospital. I like it. I use it. I thought it deserved TLC-ing a bit. I did it. There it is. The original comes from the prolific Glenni . ***You will need the SC4Model and SC4Desc from the original !!!*** Check Glenni’s content on the STEX -- especially if you want diagonal buildings ! There is a lot of wonderful stuff there. A list of deps is in the folder. Capacity upped to 50 000. Many thanks to my technical gurus, Rsc204, Kosc and Dreadnought. And especially Rivit, who lighted my SC4world and is always generously ready to help. And the guys and gals on the forums (Twalsh, Matias93, Fantozzi, Catty-cb, Corinamarie…). We need help when we begin peeking under the hood of SC4. That the community is always there for us noobies is a constant and pleasant reassurance. General warnings : (1) This is for SC4 Rush Hour. (2) I play with NAM36, RRW-EU selection (it shouldn’t interfere here, but you never know !) (3) I also play with Twrecks Maxis HD Tree Replacement (if you don’t use it, your trees might look a bit different ; perhaps you should use it…) (4) I play Nights. Hence the included RVT zNightLighting. Depending on your using or not a Light Replacement Mod, the lighting will be slightly different, but There Will Be Light. If you dont want it, you can either tweak my lights in the Lot Editor or get rid of them entirely. (5) I like trees. I make intensive use of trees. Especially Girafe tree collection on the LEX ; so here’s a link, once for all ; just follow it into the woods
