This is a 3x3 BAT, meant to be used as a park/landmark, preferably in mountainous terrain. This is loosely inspired by the Corvin Castle, a Gothic-Renaissance castle located in Hunedoara, Romania. This is a unique creation, and uses custom textures, props, and details. I've hid a little screen somewhere in the castle, and it is not the black van coming from the rear entrance, whatever is going on there? is this really a castle?! To use, simply copy the downloaded file into Simcity3000/buildings folder.- 2 Comments

Update: Yasaka Island Shrine - Saitama Prefecture Welcome, everyone. My name is Akiko, and I will be your guide today. I hope you enjoy this short tour of the beautiful Yasaka island Shrine. Today we find ourselves in the beautiful and peaceful village of Jokoji. Located in the southeastern part of Saitama Prefecture, very close to Cape Futtsu. We are now at the meeting point, next to the tourist information booth in the complex's parking lot. Our tour will begin as soon as we pass through the small red Torii gate. Here is a general view where you can see the starting point (the Torii gate), the bridge, and the island where the Yasaka Shrine or Castle is located. As you can see, the shrine is located on a small island in the middle of a small natural lake next to the Seto Inland Sea. It is not known exactly when it was built, but we can say, based on its style, that it was between the 15th and 17th centuries, coinciding with the feudal period and the era of the samurai. It is possible to walk around the entire lake. There are trails available for visitors, and on calm days, you can see the Yasaka Shrine perfectly. It is important to mention that the trails may be closed if the sea and waves are dangerous for visitors. Please remember that we are in a natural area protected by the authorities. Several species of fish and birds, among others, live here, and we must all take care of this wonderful place. The footbridge we are crossing is not the original one. This bridge was built in recent years to prepare the area for visitors. There was an old stone bridge. Only a few remains of this stone bridge were left. It is believed that when the castle was built, small boats were used to cross from one bank to the other. Was it always a Shrine? The answer is no. Its construction is of the castle/fortress type, and that was its main function during the period in which it was built. Later, the place was designated a sacred site, and the castle was converted into a sanctuary. At that time, the already mentioned torii gate was also erected. At night, it is a magical place, where the reflections of the lights on the lake create a special scene for everyone. The lights are usually either red or white. However, on certain special dates, the decorations may change. To finish, We leave you all with a beautiful postcard of the place. Where you can see the lake, the island with the Shrine, and the small and picturesque Jokoji Village. ############################################################################## Greetings / Saludos / Groeten

The gems of Aupthilagic Peninsula
TheMurderousCricket posted a City Journal entry in SimCity: Tribalism
I would like to make two announcements before today's entry... First of all, I would like to mention that the last vote to determine a new ground texture for New Udanani resulted in a rare draw! "HBS Californian Terrain" and the "VIP Terrain Mod" received the same number of votes! After checking both mods in my region, I decided to resolve the draw in favor of "VIP Terrain Mod". The thing is, "HBS Californian Terrain" is one of the few bright terrain textures... After I tested it, it became clear that it is glaringly contrastive with the dark grass and shrub MMPs that I use en masse across New Udanani. This means that the color and brightness balance was actually quite poor with this terrain applied and the existing vegetation on top of it... I hope that those who voted for this terrain option will forgive me. The rationale is entirely aesthetic and I am grateful for your participation in shaping this CJ, regardless of a poll's results! Now comes the time to choose rock textures for the region, so I hope to again see your participation in another voting process! The second announcement now. As you can undoubtedly see, today's episode is somewhat longer than most - four pages of text rather than the regular 2-3 that I usually write. This is because today's episode includes some historical and cultural details which, I hope, add some additional, interesting "depth" to this journal. However, I do understand that not everybody likes to read. The question then is - if I prepare more of such detailed entries, would you be happy to see them here? Or should I form a separate CJ, specifically dedicated for the cultural and historical information on New Udanani? That's it for the announcements (and questions). Now, enjoy the next entry! Today, you will have a chance to review a fairly large project that resulted from your votes provided in this episode. Aupthilagic Peninsula has become a historical landmark with several notable features. I cordially invite you for a guided tour around this area. Altruist tribe early beginnings The earliest mention of the Altruist tribe comes from 10th century chronicles and archeological evidence from this period. The tribe occupied the Central and Northern parts of Aupthilagic Peninsula and predominantly lived in small, isolated villages scattered all over the forests. The Altruists created communities that likely didn't even surpass 50 citizens at a time. Life in the woods was simple and sometimes lacked the privileges that modern people take for granted. The situation changed with the rise of the Virbolli family. This clan was the most educated group in the tribe and even had some luck in trade with Arab Sicily and the coastal areas of the Bulgarian Empire making them a wealthy and important group among the Altruists. The Virbolli have also been good, kind-hearted people who never refused to help others. Seeing the plight of their brethren and their frugal life in the woods, they drafted a concept for the first, large-scale settlement to which the Altruist population could move. This way, in 1219 A.D., Vazarki Castle was built, and the Virbolli entail was formed. The castle was constructed entirely from the family's own funds which probably cemented the Altruists' selfless and generous life philosophy. The population was delighted with the concept and happily settled in and around the new structure. However, there were several problems with the castle that became apparent in the long run. First of all, in the defensive terms Vazarki Castle was very badly designed. It had no moat and some of its windows were only five meters above the ground, making it easy to force one's way inside. Moreover, the varying height of defensive towers arranged on a square plan resulted in a lot of visual "dead zones" for the lower towers. This of course turned potential defense and field bombardment from these towers into a fairly challenging feat. Ironically, the castle's high desirability was also the source of overcrowding - a problem which started to become more and more serious with the influx of new "citizens". In the first half of the 14th century, the conditions in the castle became so bad that a serious plague outbreak occurred, killing-off about 2/3 of the people who lived in it and nearly wiping out the members of the Virbolli family... Barone founded When the epidemic subsided, some of the plague survivors decided to return to the woods and resume their forest lives. The Vazarki Castle became largely abandoned as a result. The situation changed for the better only after the entail was inherited in 1426 by Lagro Virbolli, The Seventh Duke of Virbolli Entail. (Coat of arms created with CoaMaker ) Just like his predecessors, the Duke was a highly educated individual who spent most of his youth in foreign universities including University of Padua, La Sapienza and Jagiellonian University. Moreover, Lagro befriended several European politicians and constructors. These acquaintances and knowledge were vital to his later decision that the Altruists needed a proper city to live in, in order to thrive. Lagro Virbolli's dream materialized in 1431 when the construction of Barone began - a large, spacious, fortified town that would become a core of the Altruist culture and economy. The city was named after Filippo Barone - one of the Duke's university friends from Italy. The first stage of construction finished in 1441 when the main outline of fortifications was completed and the first homes, market and the city hall were built. Analysis of Barone Barone is an interesting town from the architectural and urban point of view due to the period it was built in - a transition epoch between medieval times and full-bloomed renaissance. Many of the town's original buildings were built according to the old 13th and 14th century rules but they were influenced by fresh ideas coming from great constructors and planners from Italy, Low Countries and Poland. As the city developed further, this mixture of styles became evident and eventually led to a rise of the so-called "Udananian Reneissance". Many buildings and features in this style survive to this day. The original marketplace enhanced with some green areas (rather then fully paved as in many European cities) the nearby city hall and some of the tenements are good examples of this unique building fashion. As you can clearly see, the marketplace has retained its original function and is a popular shopping spot for the local, modern population of Mindfulness. A keen eye will also notice specific surroundings that the town has. Namely, large swathes of colorful fields surrounding Barone. These, are tulip farms which were established by Duke Virbolli as a gift to his favorite niece - a gifted florist and an avid lover of nature. The farms still use traditional techniques to grow flowers and the fields (which are 560 years old...) are one of the UNESCO world heritage sites since 1991, along with the town itself... Obviously a spacious, well-protected town that Barone has become, convinced many Altruists to again give the town life a chance. This time, the project proved to be a complete success and gave the tribe open doors to a comfortable future. But the town would not last long if it had no trade and traffic going through it. This is where Lagro Virbolli's political connections became particularly important as he was able to convince several prominent merchants and European politicians to do business with his town. The establishment of a trade port East of Barone was the next logical step. In order to service merchant vessels and handle the trade goods, a harbor was established on the shore of the Gulf of Brinteesel in 1449. The port survives to this day and is open to visitors together with the unique Museum of Marine Trade. Barone's port may look small for today's standards but it was very well organized and teeming with life back in the days. It consists of two distinct parts. The Southern portion of the port contained shipwright workshops and facilities used to unload and process imported goods... ...while the Northern part was used to load the ships with the goods produced by the Altruists. This part of the port has a distinct layout as it consists of several rows of narrow alleys which are flanked by merchant and artisan workshops. This way, all visitors leaving Barone were encouraged to make "last minute" purchases. In fact, it was impossible to reach the docks without passing through one of these alleys! Fortifications of Barone Despite the peace-loving attitude of the Altruists, the tribe has acknowledged the fact that the world is a tumultuous place and they need to protect themselves from possible dangers coming from external powers. This is why apart from being a cozy place to live in, Barone became a defensible settlement as well. Many of the problems identified in the Vazarki Castle were addressed in Barone, making the city a much safer place to live... First of all, Barone is surrounded by a magnificent semi-natural moat. It was built upon already existing marshlands which were artificially expanded. The inner part of the moat was reinforced by brick too. Using natural wetlands to build the town's first line of defense was the idea of Lagro Virbolli's wife - Tajra Chasilli, Her Ladyship of the Virbolli Entail. Barone walls, considered to be the second line of defense, are another interesting feature of the Altruist town. The walls were built on a plan of two overlapping rectangles with the town's gates being located in the spots where the rectangle sides meet. This way, it was much easier for the defenders to destroy enemies attempting to force their way into the city through the main entrance, giving the town's military an excellent opportunity to develop crossfire against attackers. The walls surrounding the town have a standardized height as well, which eliminates the problem of one defense tower obscuring the view to another. In the early 16th century, however, the tribe decided that existing fortifications, essentially just straight walls, could use a modernization. This was the moment when the 15th century defensive walls received a renaissance facelift that largely improved the town's safety against new threats. If you take a look at Eastern and Southern city walls, you will notice a distinct feature, typical to renaissance fortifications. These are the so-called "piattaforma" - special defensive constructions that derive from the Italian school of defensive building. Piattaformas allowed better coverage during frontal attacks against the city walls, making it possible for the defenders to fire cannons at enemy troops even when they already chipped at the city walls. Another example of renaissance defensive solution, this time typical to French fortifications, is the so-called "rotonde" - a small, rounded fort connected to the city walls and going out into the main fortress' foregrounds. The rotonde offered an insane, almost 360-degree firing range against attacking armies. In this respect, rotonde was used to "soften up" hostile units long before they could even creep up to the town, or to fire towards the units that somehow managed to advance up to the city walls. The second tactic was brutally effective as it created an unbearable barrage of front-and-rear fire from the defenders that few hostile units could withstand. The fortified route leading onto rotonde and the adjacent walls were partially destroyed during Barone's siege by Russian Empire in the 19th century - the only time Barone was successfully captured. The Altruist city has been under Russian siege during Russo-Persian War in which the tribe sided with the Persians. Luckily though, after the Russians captured the city, the Altruists were able to quickly mount a successful counterattack and expel Russian forces just eight days after the city fell in their hands. Unfortunately, these events ruined the town's walls and buildings that laid in the path of the Russian advance. There is currently much debate among historians and architects whether this portion of town should be rebuild or rather left this way as a historical landmark. Conclusion The Virbolli entail consisting of Barone, Vazarki Castle and the trading port are undoubtedly one of the many pearls of Udananian civilization and an outstanding example of the Altruist economic and technical thought. Despite the centuries gone by, Aupthilagic Peninsula, continues to amaze and inspire numerous historians, researchers and tourists, offering them a valuable insight in the Eastern Udananian culture. I hope that today's update was an interesting experience for you as well. Have a nice day and see you next time! I shall leave you with several impressions of Mindfulness - the modern town which was built around the old Altruist capital of Barone. And before you go, please have a look at the rock textures that are under vote today! Comment replies: @TogaMasterJohn - Things like this happen on holiday bliss. If it makes you feel better, this entry got delayed as well. Thanks for the nice words. Yup, details are my fuel!- 3 Comments

֍ CITY OF BRANDT ֎ CULTURAL HERITAGE PRESERVE RESTORED TO ITS FULL SPLENDOR! Mew: Nee nah niou miau-mya nya nia-nia-niaou!! (Translation: We have more goodies for everyone!!) Jenny Salisbury: Without a doubt! The Ministry of Heritage Protection, and the Steward of the Land himself, have been really busy returning the shine to the historic city of Brandt! Queen Ilene: Today we want to welcome visitors to a new era of historical treasure preservation! Long-neglected, the mighty fortress of the west rises proud and renewed, with carefully restored and reconstructed landmarks, cityscapes and amenities for residents and visitors alike. Those who wonder how the city used to look like before its massive transformation can check one of our earlier entries: Mew: Niai nee miou-nee nahniau, mew miau nee-nee!! (Translation: I'll be showing you around, there's lots to see!!) Mew: Niou miaoh nah-nin mee-mew nya-niei mew-mew nya-mew! (Translation: Those old walls have been re-built and made to look like new!) Mew: Nya-niei miau-mya-nya mew-mew-niei miu-miou nee-nee! (Translation: And there's another choo-choo train to go with it!) Mew: Mewmenewniu nau-nee niu-niou mya-mee myamya-mee mew! (Translation: Funny how this looks old but is actually new!) Jenny Salisbury: That's because we have restored Brandt's status as a fully-fledged city! With that comes having its own city hall, built to resemble the original structure from the times of old. Mew: Miaun-nya nah mewmew ñiau niei-niu-nah mew-mew-niei! (Translation: Brandt got a cute little park next to the choo-choo train!) Queen Ilene: Brandt has received generous grants to restore the architecture around the city, adding an overall greater proportion of medieval styled houses and businesses. Mew: Nee-nee nee-miou-nee niaunya! Nah neen mriaumew new-nee nah-ni mioumioun. (Translation: This is Nidoking Tower! The Green Army used it as its headquarters.) Mew: Nah mya-mee mriaumiou, ñyanya nah mrium nah Myamianian Myan-nya!! (Translation: A fancy castle, almost as cool as Cameran Palace!!) Jenny Salisbury: Castle Brandt is quite the jewel! This palace was inhabited by the warlords leading the Green Army, but they certainly built it with the intention of supplanting Cameran Palace as a royal residence. Queen Ilene: Not only that, Castle Brandt is poised to become one of the city's grandest attractions, being so easy to reach from the various mass transit services, and the footpath encircling the city walls. Mew: Meeew, nyah-nah miwmew-nyah mew-mew-niei! (Translation: Yeah, like the super fast choo-choo trains!) Mew: Niou nah mriou-nya nah niou mewniu nah nee-nee! (Translation: Or the slow ones that go into the city!) Jenny Salisbury: For those who want a more historic experience, there's carriage tours along the wall, it's quite the charming experience! Queen Ilene: Park goers can also stop at the numerous gazebos along the footpath, where they can enjoy a themed garden away from the city's hectic environment and bask in the mild climate and historic majesty of Brandt. Jenny Salisbury: The city's tramway was also extended to provide a better connection along the conventional railways! Here travelers can reach Silurum, Zacien and the Renshi Free Trade Zone without having to drive or pay for the premium services of the Rota Shinkansen. Queen Ilene: These transfer stations, first unveiled in Zamacentia, have proven very popular and convenient for our train riders! Jenny Salisbury: This gazebo here makes me wonder if Mew is playing hide and seek! Queen Ilene: Where did Mew go? We're almost done yet with the tour! Jenny Salisbury: He's probably hiding from this crowd, you know how elusive he has to be when out in public. Jenny Salisbury: Mew is right! We have not decided yet on what to do with those terrains! Queen Ilene: As with other big decisions, we're opening up the discussion to a public hearing. Let us know in the poll which options should we consider for this terrain east of Brandt, north of Alba and southwest of Cameran. And thanks once more for joining us in this magical journey around the Kingdom!

Lot 4x4 The Castello normanno ("Norman Castle") is a castle in Paternò, in the Province of Catania, Sicily, southern Italy. The castle was built in 1072 by Count Roger I of Sicily to protect the Simeto valley from Islamic raids. The first nucleus of the fortress was soon enlarged, and it subsequently lost its original military functions. Under Henry VI it was made the seat of the Count of Paternò, assigned to his fellow Swabian Bartholomew of Luci. Later the castle housed kings and queens, such as Henry's son Emperor Frederick II, Eleanor of Anjou and Blanche I of Navarre, as the castle had been included in the so-called Camera Reginale estates ("Queen's Chamber") by King Frederick III of Sicily. The Chamber was abolished in the 15th century, and in 1431 the castle was acquired by the Special family; until 1456 it was owned by the Moncada family. Used as a jail, in the following centuries it became increasingly decayed, until restoration work begun in the 19th century brought it back to its ancient prominence. The castle has a rectangular plan, on three floors, with a height of 34 m. Originally, it had Ghibelline-style merlons, of which today only remains can be seen. Notable is the colour effect created by the dark shade of the stones and the frames of the Gothic-style mullioned windows, in white limestone. The first-storey houses several service chambers and the Chapel of St. John, decorated with precious 13th-century frescoes. The piano nobile houses a large Weapons Hall. The king's residence was located in the upper floor. -

6x7 Lot. The Zisa is a castle in the western part of Palermo in Sicily, southern Italy. It is included in the UNESCO Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedral Churches of Cefalù and Monreale World Heritage Site. The construction was begun in the 12th century by Arabian craftsmen for king William I of Sicily , and completed by his son William II. The edifice had been conceived as summer residence for the Norman kings, as a part of the large hunting resort known as Genoardo (Arabic: Jannat al-arḍ, literally "Earthly Paradise")[that included also the Cuba Sottana, the Cuba Soprana and the Uscibene palace. The Zisa is clearly inspired by Moorish architecture. The name Zisa itself derives from the Arab term al-Azīz, meaning "dear" or "splendid". [4]The same word, in Naskh script, is impressed in the entrance, according to the usual habit for the main Islamic edifices of the time.

3x3 Lot. The Norman Castle of Adrano is a donjon built by the norman king Roger I of Sicily in 1071. Inside the castle is the archaeological museum with antique findings of the region. -

CoriBoom™ Productions Proudly Presents... Cori's Castle Addon Lots Pack. Are you ready to venture back in time? In our 2nd official CoriBoom™ release to the STEX, @CorinaMarie and I have developed a collection of RCI lots to complement Cori's Castle. Wandering in the deep, dank, dark dungeons of the Maxis Longfellow Castle, Cori discovered the hidden treasure of 6 rarely seen buildings. We've extracted these from CastleSet.dat and lotted them specially to create this pack. The models were used on the original 13x12 sized Maxis lot, but it seems a bit of a shame they couldn't be built individually outside the castle grounds as regular functional growable buildings. That's where our Addon Lots Pack for Cori's Castle comes in. They've each been designed around a central medieval theme. The general idea is to represent an era when civilization had to live and survive on basic resources, making do with what they had without the modern technology we've become so accustomed to today (and often take for granted). As such the lots contain no cars, satellite dishes, or lawnmowers, and the buildings are tenderly lit by oil lamps and from candlelight. Design Considerations Minimal Dependencies, with Maximal Variety All lots use standard Maxis props and those included in the CastleSet.dat file as a dependency. The lot design incorporates prop families to maximise variety. This means with 6 individual lots in this set, there are additionally dozens of different combinations possible between them. The game will randomly select from planted bushes, shrubs, furniture, and other details each time upon growing, meaning there's a reduced probability of two lots side-by-side ever being identical. Custom Base Textures The pack contains specially developed base textures combined into an included DAT file. These add dirt walkways and other details, such as where people are visibly seen to gather on the lots, most notably so on the Travelers Inn as timed animated props. The idea with the custom textures is to incorporate them around the building, and so helping everything integrate more naturally. Effects for Enhancement Bringing the lots more to life, there are a few effects strategically placed on the lots, including smoke rising from the chimneys. They're subtle enough to not stand out obviously, but they'll intermittently be displayed to give an added element of character. Each have been correctly raised and oriented from the ground when viewed from all 4 directions. Additionally as hinted above, there are Sims which are shown at certain times of the day. These use a prop family too, so various Sims will appear interchangeably for each lot. Modular Design Thinking of how these lots will accompany each other, they've been lotted with the purpose so the boundaries fit together. Bushes and shrubs are on the edges, and then fences are used further back on the 2x2 lot, so the 1x1 Houses can blend in with a degree of seamlessness. Proportionate Stats All lots have been based on Maxis original growables of the same size, with the intention to keep them within the realms of what the simulation expects. To fit around the idea of old style growth, they've each only been assigned to the Chicago 1890 Tileset. So just remember to enable that option in the building style control or else the lots won't develop. Sample Preview Here's an example pic showing all lots built within the Cori's Castle region: (Dirt roads used are the SAM-3 texture variation from the Network Addon Mod. These go really well.) What's Included? 6 growable Stage 1 lots. (3 Residential, 1 Commercial, 2 Industrial) 2 R$, 1x1, Small Cottages (6 R$ residents) Castle Shake Roof House Castle Thatched Roof House 1 R$, 2x1, Large Home (12 R$ residents) Castle Big Thatched Roof House 1 CS$, 2x2, Travelers Inn (28 CS$ workers) Castle Travelers Inn 1 IR$ (Ag), 2x2 with field, Stable & Farm (4 IR$ workers) Castle Farm and Stables 1 ID$$, 2x1, Blacksmith Shop (9 ID$ workers) Castle Blacksmith's Shop We recommended using the Ctrl+Zone method to encourage the 2x1 and 2x2 lots to grow. See this post for a summary of this and other precision zoning techniques for use in the game. Dependencies CastleSet.dat contained in Longfellow Castle. Thanks Maxis for these, they really are superb! Cori's Castle - Addon Lots Base Textures.dat (Included) Note: Should anyone find a use for the base textures included, feel free to add the file (or the extracted textures you use) and include it with your download. There's no need to make anyone's life more difficult by linking back to here. Do mention where they came from though, and how if anyone already uses our Addon Lots, they probably already have said textures. Another Note: The CastleSet.dat may also be named Castle Ramparts.dat which includes the same models. Installation This pack uses the standard process of installing SC4 content. Copy the entire contents of Cori's Castle - Addon Lots Pack into your Plugins. This named folder contains the above texture DAT file required for the custom base textures, and then each lot is contained within an individual subfolder per developer type. Who knows, we may someday create a few more of these, and so this structure seems logical to begin with. You're free to place them in your own system of organization though as you see fit. Note that instead of combining them all into one merged DAT file, we've specifically created them as separate lots to easily allow you to mix and match with other content as desired. The CastleSet.dat file can be copied in here also, or you may wish to have it separate if using the Maxis Longfellow Castle. In which case, just ensure it's placed somewhere in your Plugins. Recommended Content Did we mention these lots are great to use when playing Cori's Castle - Complete Region? Yep, we did, and they do. But yeah. Additionally along with the Maxis Longfellow Castle itself which provides the building models, you may also find selected items useful from the following authors to fit the theme: Content by @Pegprod from the Mountain Theme Pack. Content by @onlyplace4 including their Wild West Barn. Content by @SimCoug such as their Little Well. // CoriBoom™ Productions Release \\ Cori's Castle - Addon Lots Pack v1.0 — (10 Jan 2019) -

Long, long ago the Corillionites built a double walled city atop the tallest hill in the area. The walls, towers, gates, tunnels and moats remain in place while all other traces of civilization have vanished. Cori's Castle Region is complete and ready to play featuring @onlyplace4's City Walls and Moats. To use: Unzip the file into your Regions folder and place the Alamo Cost Minus $50,940 For Cori's Castle.dat file into your Plugins folder. Dependencies: City Walls City Wall Moats Alamo Cost Minus $50,940 For Cori's Castle.dat (included under the download button) Optional: Columbus Terrain Mod von Cycledogg aka Columbus Terrain Mod v2.0 CPT No3 Terrain Textures (v1.0) / CPT No3 TerrainTextures CPT No4 Terrain Textures (v1.0) / CPT No4 TerrainTextures Drunken Water Mods, The Blues and Greys. In HD! (Grey 1) ENN Rock Mod Set 2 HD (v1.0) (Sandstone1 Brown) White Gravel Beach mod Notes: I have toggled off the U-Drive It missions in each city tile. Should you prefer to have floating bubbles all over your city, feel free to toggle them back on. Each tile is filled with Maxis trees and shrubs. If you use a different tree controller you may need to toggle Flora Off then Flora On in each tile. The optional (attached) Alamo Park has been plopped in the center tile and will exactly negate the exorbitant maintenance costs of the walls and moats. If you have some other method of money management, feel free to bulldoze the park. The center tile (Cori's Castle) has the Building Style Control set to Chicago 1890 only to simulate only older buildings being grown. You may also want to change that to your preference. You may share, modify, and/or distribute my works in any manner you like. Suggested: Cori's Castle - Addon Lots Pack ^ These lots are specially designed to complement the theme of Cori's Castle. -

Port de Caravella: Château des Pins
Krisman posted a City Journal entry in Principauté de Caravella-Guatalaga
Château des Pins [VIEW POINT; MUSEUM] The Château des Pins is one of the oldest structures in Principauté de Caravella-Guatalaga. Today, only the foundation of the castle remains but for centuries this stronghold protected the entrance to Baie d'Caravella (Caravella Bay). The castle was built in the 18th century when Port de Caravella became a blooming trade port with ships seeking safety from the gusting winds and storms of the Atlantic Ocean. After several modifications, the characteristic gun placement was added in the beginning of the 19th century. The decay of the castle started in the 20th century with various storms weakening the structure. After a partial collapse in 1911, the local government decided the tear down the castle to prevent accidents. In 1992 a local group of archaeologists started the excavate the area, discovering various artefacts and that the foundation of the castle was still intact. In 2008 the government started with a project to open up the site to the general public. A visit to the site is a must-do when you are in Port de Caravella. On a clear day, the views from both the gun placement as well as the lookout are spectacular. Also interesting is the small visitors centre that is located next to the castle. It offers the collection of discovered artefacts and will show you how the castle looked when it was still complete. But be aware: the climb to the castle will take about 30 mins. (Château des Pins; Rue des Pins 24; admission: free; ¸ 9am - 4.30pm Mon-Fri, 10am - 6pm Sat & Sun) @_Michael @TekindusT @Scribosilyn @feyss @Takingyouthere @kschmidt and @v701 : thank you for the positive comments on the previous entry! If you like it, let me know! -
