Ok so with the pre-Christmas rush and all that it's difficult to find time to play SC4. I'm also finding it hard to continue the plot line. So basically: CJ is currently on hold over the Christmas break It may be back next year, however it's likely if it is then the story shall not be continued with it Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
  2. Middletown recently declined to accept any more of Industria's trash. The deal had been arranged years ago: Industria sells Middleton power, and Middleton takes Industria's trash. Middleton, however, found that their trash heap was full: I think they want to clear it out so that the smell doesn't float over to the new stadium. So Industria said, nevermind the environment, we'll just burn it! (Space is tight.) They decided to put an incinerator next to the three power plants already in operation. Now they sell Middleton both power AND trash collection! Result! And now, crime news. Crime is down, possibly because of the increased visibility of the prison's community service program. Remember those yellow jumpsuits running all over during the jail break? Well now some of the city jail's 200 inhabitants are helping to clean up city hall the old fashioned way! Other crimes remain static. Fights, Flashers? I see the yellow, is that skin, or just an escaped convict? Or maybe it's a prostitute. I have no idea. Any thoughts? And fights and flashers? (fight = top right, flasher? = bottom left) The police are hard at work with their shiny helicopter, but the criminals just hide in buildings. Dawn raid, anyone? And that's the news for the day. I'll try to have some night shots next time.
  3. Today we're going to Krestelvale, a town on Daffadelya's north coast. This coast is very mountainous and settlements are restricted to the very west and east of the north coast. Krestelvale is the only town on the northeast coast, and thus is a destination for those who wish to take in the Daffadelyan Mountains. We were in Sandstone last time, which is in island situated right near Daffadelya's northeast coast. Though train lines go almost anywhere in Daffadelya, there are none to Krestelvale, as the terrain is too forbidding and the population not enough to justify building a railway. So we'll take the bus, which leaves from Sandstone's train station (which you saw two entries ago): After crossing the straight between Sandstone Is. and the mainland, we end up on Daff. Rt. 4, going nothward: The first stop is Flowerbloom, a town across the straight from Sandstone. This was an old shipbuilding center in the socialist era (1933-67) and unfortunately still bears many of the old buildings constructed then. Though revitalization has been attempted, many see this town as the ugliest in Daffadelya, and many have just plain moved out, leaving the old apartments to rot. After passing here, our bus drives up the rocky coast. The next stop is a small village at the foot of the Daffadelya Mnts: Next, we drive though the farming area around here and get back on to Rt. 4. The following is a pic Krestel Ridge, which we'll drive over to reach Krestelvale on the other side. The curve you see is known as the most harrowing in the nation, as daredevil cars coming down the hill often speed up for thrills. We stop on top of the hill at the castle lodge. Here, the trail to the castle at the top of this mountain begins. We'll be back to see it! And finally! We're in the valley and we've arrived in Krestelvale!! What a pretty little town. Uh. Ok, well lets check it out. People here are chiefly engaged in fishing and farming. Here is the harbor, and then some cows grazing outside of town. The ferry you see goes to Accoana and Kalma Is. daily, places we'll evenually get to. Right! Now let's go camping! There's a hostel/campground right outside of town. And, as long as we help out to maintain the place while we're there, it's free! Now let's take a few days to explore. Here is the view from the top of a mighty mountain we've hiked up (somehow): And here, on another mountaintop, is Altavea Castle. This castle was built in the 800s AD when Daffadelya was under serious threat from a great empire, the Femmelians. This castle watched over the entire north coast and set fire signals to Sandstone when threatened.  One hundred years later the empire fell due to internal strife, but the castle was still used the the 1200s when continental raiders beset the country. In the peaceful age of today, it's an impressive ruin. It's time to light up the fire back at the campsite and cook some potatoes under the flames! It will be our last night in Krestelvale before we head south to check out Daffadelya's major cities! Goodnight An overview of Krestelvale! THANKS for reading and for the feedback!

Hello, my name is Evan i live here in bellevue nebraska and after seeing just a few recreations of the area i decided id go all out and create a full scale, hand crafted city exactly identical to Omaha. full scale to me is if each tile is 16M (i use feet so aprox. 48Ft) which is what ive found from some research around the site than each large map is about 2.5 miles. i have a 15X15 large map area which would equal 45x45 square mile area to work with. im using google maps at a 200Ft. zoom range and a self made scale to measure distances between roads and lengths of roads which i have found to be quite accurate. im going one by one down each road and scaling it as perfect as humanly possible. the only thing i cant get perfect is terrain. im hand crafting wildly terrain and small hills as close to what they really are... currently i have about a 5X5 mile area undergoing creation around the 72nd and dodge area spreading southeast. Here is a quick arial view of what ive gotten done so far... later i will break down the entries into main sections of the city such as mid town, west O, downtown, the old market, old town bellevue, bellevue,  and so on to be able to give better detail to whats in the areas. but for now this is basically central omaha. 72nd and Dodge. This intersection splits the city east west and north south. annddd no matter how hard i try i can not seam to figure out how to take a picture without that dang bar in it at the bottem there... anyways, from here i moved east to the 42nd/50th and dodge area... here is the 50th and dodge area, south of dodge. here is the sattle creek and dodge area. and the 42nd and dodge area next area i started was the 42nd and center area extending towards the interstate (I-80) here is the 42nd and center area 50th and center area 42nd and the interstate 50th and the interstate i also started a 72nd and center map but havent worked as much on it as these. plan of attack: as soon as i complete my desired area from 72nd and dodge till 13th and harrison i will begin filling in with residential area and running the full simulation. I will slowly expand south to bellevue then west towards western sarpy county, i will then head north to the I-680 bend near irvington and then back east into council bluffs back south and around agian until i fill all the maps. as well as making this to scale im also going around and photographing special areas in omaha such as the old market, UNO campus, Boys town, etc. and turning them into actual functioning buildings in the area. For next time: look for all the areas un completed here to be finished and more towards the south east completed (road wise) so for now ill have to leave you with this! i will update as much as possible but being a full time student, with a full time job and everything else i am limited to what time i can actually invest in gaming and doing this soo hopefully by next week sometime i can re update with more progress! just to give you and estimate ive gotten all this done in close to 3 hours over 1 week...

  6. Time is going by fast, it's been a while since I've shown an update for Ghufran. Ghufran has grown into a city! With offices, and shopping stores. But it isn't all good. The more it grows, the denser and larger the slums are. As you can see there are also lots of appartments and tennant buildings. These are the housing projects for the unwealthy residents. I've experimented with a variety of buildings for the city center: That's not all. Outside the city there are beautiful rural settings. Many farmers chose zoned agriculture areas outside the city because of it's expansion and it can cause a threat to crops. Here are some rural pictures: And the picture I saved for last... RUINS! Far outside of town, and the rural outskirts, a lonely hermet discovered a strange pattern of stones behind his shack. He has reported this to the Ghufran government and many South American archeologists are in and out of the country, unearthing these strange walls. There are many old tales that the natives pass down about an ancient civilization. The modern Ghufranians see these as only a campfire story, but the natives were serious. Could this be what they're talking about? Many more walls are to be uncovered, and analyzed to find out wich year they can be dated back to. That's all for now. I'm open for all comments and suggestions of what I can make for the Ghufran CJ. Thanks for viewing!

The city of Barr Lake is nestled on the east side of the river along the western banks of the lake. The city's secular charter required quite a bit of legal wrangling with the County Seat since it is on the generally regarded "religious" side of the river. Once the county population reached over 200,000 enough pressure was present to release a tract of land for the city charter and certain other legal obligations were made. After 30 years, and changes in city leadership the Municipality of Barr Lake has 192,000 residents and is the largest city in the county and holds the only branch of the University of Tolkar in the county. Legal Battles to Charter Along the western edge of the city lay Paradise Valley which was the only road connection to any part of Ellison though the residents were very clear they did not want heavy traffic over their roads. While the residents of PV are generally members of the Church of St. Robert they are fine with the passing through and settlement of non-church members. Once a legal agreement was inplace that if the city grew to over 200,000 residents road access would be through other cities and not Paradise Valley regarding road access to Interstate 36. This issue is particularly compounded by the fact I-36 is not located on the east bank of the river and therefor the primary access along the east side is through State Highway 714 through "". City planners eventually signed a deal stating with the county that if Barr Lake were to grow it would eventually travel through unclaimed land to reach outside the relative "region" of Church lands. South of PV is Washout where intially even stronger legal battles were expected by city planners. The White Hill Chapel Seperatists who chartered the City of Washout were not expected initially to bargain at all, however growth in Ellison had pushed more residents into the city than its walled off compound. Once a standing agreement was made that city lines would be drawn a fair distance away from "Washout Mountain" there was no oposition to a non-religous charter to be located at Barr Lake. Plainly put the White Hill Chapel Seperatists didn't care what happened outside their compound and were happy to have a verbal agreement in place regarding the drawing of lines with the County Planning Commission. The last legal hurtle was the actual charter. With almost 200,000 residents in the County of which 2/3rds were secular the county was apprehensive of giving up a large tract of land on their 'side' of the river. These concerns were further backed by the collapse of the genarally regarded borders in Ellison [city] as the old colony had undergone urban renewal as it's own population swelled and the presence of secular cities on both sides of them would likely result in increased traffic in their area. Finally when the Ellison [city] Government backed the bid for the charter the Planning Commission drew up the city lines and gave their stamp of approval. Barr Lake construction begins... <photo of the original town of Barr Lake> The original 12 blocks of Barr Lake were built nestled up against the mountains east of the cove in the lake. This seemed an auspicious position to start a city however it seemed favorable at the time because a road could be built in the pass and head east until it could be connected with another city (in light of legal agreements to the west). The city however quickly bloomed away from that direction and headed towards the large plane on the west side of the city. <photo of growing Barr Lake> As the city grew the cove became an issue. The best living conditions were still on the east side where mountains on one side and lake on the other meant great land value. The construction of the public school and relation to the buisness district however cost residents a long drive around the lake to employment outside of the original industrial space. This became an even larger issue when the farm land that had originally been set we rezoned into residential space. After two years the city finally backed the construction of the Murray-Lincoln toll bridge. Lacking anything other than a city council the Murray-Lincoln Toll Company assumed control of the bridge and its maintenence and paid the city a 10% cut of the toll fees until the payment the city had made for the bridge was paid off. Initially there were complaints about the actual bridge design as pre-fabricated concrete bases rose out of the lake to steel trusswork and the roadtop. The bridge was an eye-sore on what was initially settled because of it's natural beauty. However within a few months of its opening there was little complaint as residents regularly crossed over the bridge to go to work - saving a long commute. <picture of the Murray-Lincoln Bridge under construction> Like the bridge project the city council was made up of regular citizens who did not want to devote much time to the job of city planning. The city charter made it clear that a simple vote was needed to approve bids by construction companies to expand current zones. The council eventually decided on the 8 acre grid as a baseline for all future expansion (since the original 12 blocks had been 8 acre blocks) and growth seemed to explode. It was only a few years until the 30,000 residents of the city voted for a new elected mayoral position and a larger city council. They also approved the construction of a city hall along the lake shore and new shopping district. The new city government embarked upon building more schools since the public school on the east shore did not offer transportation beyond the cove and a majority of the cities inhabitants resided on the western plane. Additionally a police station was constructed 'down town' near the city hall building and a police chief (and 15 officers) were hired. Near the site of the old town the original coal plant was long overworked and a trash incinerator was constructed along with a longer project to construct an oil power plant. Just after completion of the oil plant an explansion was started. The city had grown to about 65,000 residents and had grown in size to match a land area larger than Oakland (at the time the second largest city in the county). It was becoming quickly clear  that the geographical size of the city and the fact that the 8 acre grid layout was begining to cause problems with traffic flow and the movement of manufactured goods out of the city. The small and relatively unkept 2-lane road that connected with Paradise Valley was being over-run (along with anger from PV) and factories could not afford to truck their goods out through SH-714. City growth had also overcrowded the small city hall building so it was finally agreed upon to construct an annex building down the block. The Barr Lake Government Annex building however had two occupants. The city government would use the upper floors as office space while the ground floor was occupied by the new Barr Lake Transportaion Authority. The BLTA was tasked with the ominous job of making sense of a jumbled existing road network but also developing a lasting transportation plan for the city that would enable people and goods to move easily through the city while also finally working towards solving the highway connection issue. <picture of BLTA/BL City Annex after completion> After a year of planning one of the first things the BLTA did was install rail lines connecting the city's three industrial areas to eachother and running track to the north, south and into Washout. With more development in Washout planners were banking on the fact as Barr Lake grew the east side of Washout would eventually be built up and a connection by rail to whatever may be built there would be important. This also meant that if the Ellison County Rail Line (ECRL) which had been established in Ellison and ran all over the western bank was ever extended to cross the river in Ellison lines could be run through Washout and into Barr Lake. While the ECRL tracks handled passengers and freight and were a combination of subway, raised tracks and traditional tracks the BLTA constructed their tracks for only freight. Phase 2 of the transportation plan began about a year after the train lines began with an elevated highway section being constructed along the western edge of the city (as it had been built to that point). As planners looked at the highways that ran through Ellison County the logical connection would eventually have to come through Washout. While this had not been done the planners still ran the highway to the city boundary in a position that would best facilitate the county forcing a highway to connect with the boulivard that connects with the Friendship Bridge in Ellison. The highway was then build along the edge of the city towards the growing commercial district in the north but also running south towards the largest of the industrial areas. New housing developments were zoned west of the highway to further feed employees to the industrial area. By now the city had grown to a population of almost 90,000. Barr Lake schools (of which there were 5 now) were on par witth education in Ellison and the cities to the west. Barr Lake still had massive tracts of land available and with a growing population when the County recieved word that the University of Tolkar was evaluating placing a campus in the County there were several bids by many of the cities. Ellison was the closest contender since with 162,000 residents and two airports they were the logical choice. Oakland dropped out when the school in their city lobbied city politicians and their bid was repealed. With Ellison's land being far more expensive the National University selected a site in Barr Lake. While Ellison had agreed last minute to give away the land; the bid put forward by the Barr Lake University Commission offered more land and funds to construct sports fields and park land meant the campus could be larger than anything Ellison could offer. Better still there were six highway exits that all pointed towards the site along with eventual plans to build an airport (presently the fire department's airfield had been taking commercial flights to offset the cost of the program). nearby the university site. UT Architects and City planners finally  approved a final design for the campus - building a massive educational center with the University of Tolkar at Barr Lake campus in the center with athletic fields shared by the S.Barr Memorial High School and Barr K-8. Constructed on the edge of the campus. In grand style the University Hospital was build into the campus as well (something that would not have been possible with the Ellison bid, especially since the school there already had a hospital as well). Additional land was left aside for future development for a stadium, while the University's sports programs were free to lease time at the minor league stadium that had been constructed just on the other side of the highway. The city park service then constructed park space into the campus as well - giving students from around the republic not only the scenic Barr Lake to enjoy but also peace and tranquility just outside the classroom. UT initially constructed several smaller residence halls until a year after opening they constructed the first perminant dormatory. The City planners then ambitiously had roads laid and zoned massive residential and comercial shopping areas near the campus to ensure that the student body would have a place to live. <picture of the first graduation at UT-BL> After the first 5 years of the school two more dorms were constructed amongst the motly collection of town-home establishments built by the school; along with the new stadium facility on campus for the Division 1 Sports teams. (Once the complex was completed the old minor league stadium was demolished and a new stadium constructed for the city's athletic uses). <picture of UT-BL after new stadium> Visible in the picture are the three original Dormatories of UT-BL. The left most building (backing upto the basketball courts) is Artley Hall. The middle dormatory (located above the white smoke) is Ferguson Hall, which was the third residence hall. On the far edge of campus is Bunger Hall (pink and blue building near the stadium) which was not originally part of the campus but was purchased by the University as a residence hall once more rooms were needed. The building was expected to be demolished as part of the school's original plan for the stadium site - though due to financial reasons the stadium was constructed in the forested section of the school's land and the housing which included Bunger Hall was left inplace. Also notable the 5 story brick building across the street from the stadium was Bruce Hall and the house down the street at the very end (next to the univ. science/utility building) is the Presidents House.

Here is my new city I've just started to work on. Enjoy Here is the main layout to Andrew City. After Sims heard of the new, cheap place to live, people slowly flocked to Andrew City. What makes this city a hit is that it's neighbor is Port au Mille.   After a couple years, the population shot up from the beginning 389, to over 10,000. Here is the location on the East Caliway region map. Andrew City is located in the west and just to the east is Port au Mille and Metroburgh. This is the beginning of the Andrew City journal. There will be more to come. I have big plans for this city. Hope you enjoyed! Please leave comments below!

Before I start, I should explain that I know very little about Spanish and Portugese, so the names of most of the Islands are just what 'sounded right' or amalgamations of the names of various South American cities.  Isla los Esparargos is the most central of the remaining Farming-based communities, with over 80% of the small population working on farms. The village has tried hard to resist modernisation, with the old church still standing in the centre of the village. Nevertheless, the attractive beaches of the area are prompting more immigrants to settle there, and a small pocket of industry has emerged on one of the outcroppings that connect Isla Los Esparargos to nearby islands. The island remains something of a rural haven, with a population of just over 3000. Farms on the Island come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Though larger and irregular farms are sometimes seen, many farms on the island are small squares, as the poorer residents cannot afford larger plots. A wide variety of crops are grown on the isle.  The only disturbance to the fields on the isle is the new high-speed monorail link, connecting Sao Manaus in the north with the capital in the south. The Monorail's futuristic bridges are a stark contrast against the more rustic, older road bridges. Las Crossinga Vegada is the oldest bridge still standing. The Powerlines are a newer edition, to enable electrical siphoning from neighbours at peak times. Villa Esparargos, Named after the island, is the only concentration of residences on the whole island. It's attractive beaches are a newly discovered haven for tourists. The Island is connected by land to four of it's neighbours, more than most of the neraby landforms. Thanks for reading, and don't be afraid to leave comments, good or bad.

. . . AUTHOR'S COMMENTS [ 10/12/2010 ] : I know this teaser is small and this CJ gets updated everyone 6th month or so, lol. Honestly, I don't play SC4 that quickly to finish my cities fast, but I'm finally around to playing it more often and developing my city more. It's almost ready to be published and finally I can begin my CJ on a regular basis. For now, I thought i'd leave you guys with another teaser and this one is of my downtown. If you do leave a comment, I would appreciate some constructive criticism on how to improve my downtown area as well. Be advised, it's largely incomplete and still needs some work, but the main parts are done. Again, I apologize it's only one image. Enjoy!
  10. Raycraft Hotel The Raycraft Hotel was founded in 1932 as American entrepreneur Mortimer Raycraft left New York after the Wall Street Crash of 1929. With his remaining fortunes that he had made over the previous decade he started his hotel on the island of San Gerardo in the then modest town of Siccalium. The resulting invasion of the island by Italian naval forces led to the popularity of the hotel for officers and soldiers alike. After the brief period of fighting, the Raycraft Hotel became one of the few places where negotiations were held between the Italians and the locals. Mortimer Raycraft acted as an emissary between the two parties. After the war, patronage of the hotel shifted from Italian naval officers to vacationers from Spain and Morocco. As one of the few pre-war American establishments in Siccalium its unique architectural style and New York charm led to its continued success.
In 1950, Mortimer Raycraft commissioned a sculpture from local artist, Sebastian Arteaga for the lobby of the hotel. The resulting work was known as Metaphysica, which now as then sits behind the main desk in the lobby of the hotel. Today, the hotel still operates at the edge of St. Bartholomews and is owned by Raycraft's successor and son, Damien. A touch of New York, a hint of Art Deco, and the seeds of the city, are all phrases that have been used to describe the hotel and its importance to the development of the city as a popular vacation destination and as a world class city.       Up Next    St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, the parish that gave the neighborhood its namesake. Author's Note: More picture's to come... possibly.

  14. Before I begin, I was awaken at 5 pm(hey, being a mayor is a hard job!). Anyway, Jonas Sparks told me that the cities generating station was ablaze. And I was like,"What are you talking about? We got a world class fire department!" Anyway, he turned on my giant flatscreen on and tuned it to Llama 7 News. How was I supposed to know what I was about to see? Oh yea, Mr. Sparks told me. Just as he turned the t.v. on, the power plant finally collapsed. The news report said,"This is a giant..." I couldn't know what he said next because the power went out. Oh well, time to get the portable generators. DANG! A major accident on the 219. Aww, I wanted to go to Newcastle today.

My CJ can now have votes so please vote ! SO... Today we're gonna take a ride in St Jérôme Side. This is a very old side of Vaillante. His name was given because of the St Hérôme church that is in the middle of it. Aroud the church, you will find a food market (one of the most reputated of the city) evry wednersday and sunday morning. Tou can walk also on Rue St Jérôme, a pedestrian street borded with charming cafés and restaurants. Sorry been ages since I was on last I will no longer be doing this city journal and will start a new one about my city of Los Angeles. P.S. It is not a replica of the real city.
  18.  This is a tour of the rest of Indigo Plateau, where people live, work, relax, and have fun.  The City Centre This is the headquarters of Graveler Real Estate Group. They own a lot of buildings throughout the region. From Saffron Tower, to the Vermilion City Gym. Now it's time for you to leave aboard the Kanto Express. Thanks for viewing my journal!!! ~FIN~ (The Show and Game ends in Indigo Plateau (for the first season at least, and that's the only one i watched/played), just so people understand why this is the end lol, and for those requesting me to do the other regions, I don't really know them XD. Thanks for following my journal guys!! )

  20. Word of Abel's death spread quickly. Far and wide, across the entire area, people flocked to Canton for the funeral. Cain was revered as a saint to these people, as he had taken them from third-world status to the top of the world stage in such a short time. The funeral lasted for 3 days. The reception at the church alone lasted for a day, as so many people had so many positive things to say about him. The lake was filled with flowers, as there was not enough room at the grave site for the mass influx of bouquets. Cain was the only person in Brovolia that was not in attendance. Since his brother's death, he had not had contact with anyone. Word is that he died in seclusion in a small wooden hut he erected in the mountains, poor and alone. Dr. Vu was tied to the murder, and was arrested within a day of Abel's death. He was tried and found guilty by a jury of his peers. He was commited to Birkdale, an insane asylm in the next county over. His body was commited to science against his will, and cruel and unusual experiments were run on him. The story goes that Dr. Vu had his memory erased during a chemical experiment. After serving 40 years, he was released. A week later, a 50 foot statue was erected in the middle of Thaines to honor Abel. It still stands there to this day, where Dr. Vu polishes it every morning. Abel was sure to never forgotten. Thanks guys for reading my CJ. Let me know any areas I can improve, as I am already planning my next one! Let me know what you would like to see! Thanks a bunch for the supportive comments. Don't forget to rate!
  21. New Stanton was the farthest neighborhood built from the city center before the building boom of the 60's. With a mix of subdivisions and grid neighborhoods, the town gives a nice mosaic of different building era's which show off the city's history. A birds-eye view of the city. This was the last train station built before the rail road's expansion in 1967. The peninsulas of Rocklin are an interesting feature of the city. There are multiple peninsulas in the area with residential developments abound.  Grid development stopped at the foothills of Rocklin Point. But with the dramatic increase in demand for new housing, ambitious developers designed the hillside with planned communities.  The Ingram - Stanton Unified School District combines the neighborhoods of New Stanton and next door Ingram. It one of the largest suburban school districts in the city due to the merger. They also have the most unique high school campus because of it being on the side of the mountain. I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am!
  22. There is good news. Nekita has now began construction. The road system has almost complete. The new highway system. has began with a main junction leading to Sparto Centra. Sparto Centra will also begin transformation as a result. Sparto Centra will become the main hub of all transportation. These are some pictures of Nekita. This is the main junction for Nekita. South leads to a new future industrial city, east leads to Sparto Centra, North leads to the Gromgoring basin and east leads to the township of Nekita. This is the other side of Nekita. This area will contain most of the residentials areas. This is the interchange leading North and South. This is the entire area of Nekita. This is the perfect to build the first true suburb. Now we will expand and we will come out stronger because this is ..... SPARTA!
