About this City Journal
The City of Aulton started as a harbour town on the Quonock River. The harbour grew and now the city expands and keeps changing.
According to folklore, the city's motto, "Never Finished", was coined after the fire of 1767 when most of Auld Town (what is today the Old Harbour) was destroyed. When merchants arriving by boat saw the destruction, they said the town was finished. The mayor responded by writing "Never Finished" on the façade of the town hall which had survived the blaze.
Today, citizens of Aulton take the motto as a confirmation of the city's propensity for constant redeveloping and rebuilding.
