  1. Modern Sound Barriers

    Version 1.0.0


    Modern Sound Barriers, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- A set of nine sound barrier lots to grace your ground-level highways, heavy rail (etc): really, these can be placed anywhere you think noise from adjacent transport lots might be an issue for your long-suffering sims. While there are other noise barrier lots out there, I found that some were simply too big, some were too grungy, some didn't have diagonal options and there was a distinct lack of modern-looking barriers, so I made some to suit my own taste. These sound barriers are a modern concrete, steel and glass option. The lots have Orthogonal, Diagonal, Orthogonal to Diagonal and Left and Right Overhanging options. The Ortho->Diag options can be a bit fiddly to place, but you'll soon get the hang of it and to that end each lot has a custom icon to try and make the job a little easier (the standard ortho and diagonals simply have a grey line icon, while the more complex ones have a little picture as well). As a general rule, you should aim to place these lots with the curved glass top facing towards the noise (this has a cupping effect to dampen the noise beyond the wall). They are found in the parks menu - about half way down. Now, depending on your plugins folder they may not be sequential (i.e. other park lots might appear in between) but they will be very closely positioned to each other in the menu. As I made these for myself and designed them to be high-end, nice looking sound walls, they do have a park effect (and associated monthly cost), so if you are trying to keep your city looking grungy, don't use these. While some of you may think that this is very un-realistic, please be mindful that you would only see these sorts of walls bordering nicer residential/commercial/industrial areas in real life, so these lots are designed to stimulate medium to high wealth growth rather than simply being neutral...unfortunately this is the way the game works and to my mind, when modding something with an in-built desirability, it should come with an associated cost. All the lots have been made transparent (and do not suffer the water bug) so that they will blend in with your terrain. --------------------------------------- STATS: Lot size : 1x1 - 1x2 Plop Cost: §40 Occupant Groups: Medium Wealth Park; Civic Park Effect: +15 over 15 tiles Landmark Effect: +20 over 10 tiles Pollution: Air (-)2 over 2 tiles, Water 1 over 1 tiles, Garbage 0 over 0 tiles Power consumed: 0 MwH Water consumed: 5 Gallons/Month Monthly Cost: §5 Bulldoze Cost: §10 --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: I've never seen a highway wall self illuminate, so there is only one model file: the day version. --------------------------------------- DEPENDENCIES: This file does not require external dependencies. --------------------------------------- To install, simply unzip the contents of this file into your plugins folder.     Tired of that 80's mouse click sound all the time? This mod removes it completely! Workshop Link After enabling/disabling, a city/asset needs to be loaded/created first or the game needs to restart before the main menu button sound settings are updated.
  3. I currently have the plus edition of SimCity, no deluxe upgrade as of yet. My game keeps alt tabbing out at random times which gets annoying. Eventually the game will stop making certain sounds (music and SFX), however still functions normally (with alt tabbing). I've read up somewhere that the game only uses 2 cores and I did adjust the affinity to use only two, although this makes the game function slow/unresponsive as well. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Here are my specs: VGA: AMD R9 280x RAM: 16GB CPU: intel Core i5 4670k 3.40GHz OS: Windows 8.1 Thanks PS: I have no mods installed yet.
  4. Yep. It's just what you think it is. The road construction sound effect never stops. Even when I have no roads under construction. No idea if it's a well-known problem or how to fix it - if that's even possible - but I thought that if anywhere, here is where I'll find the answers to my questions.
  5. Sound Bug

    Every time I play SimCity, the sound crashes. Not just in game sound, but all sound on my computer. As soon as I close the game, sound comes back. Have tried just about everything I can think of: updated/reinstalled drivers, restarted system, and checked all sound settings. I'm lucky to get an hour of play before it quits again. I talked to someone on EA live chat, and he said he had never heard of this problem. I sent a video of the sound copping out, and he said he would pass it on the the developers. It happened in the load screen while I was changing towns, but it seems to happen randomly. Anyone else had this problem? Any ideas? Thanks.

  7. Hello. Well it looks quiet strange to me, but I searched through the whole forum and I couldn't find anything about these two problems. Maybe I missed something? Anyway, details: 1. The first problem is described in the topic title. Every time I place Maxis lighthouse I can clearly hear the sound of flying planes, coming straight from the lighthouse - that very sound which can be heared near the Maxis airports. I thought firstly that it could be caused by some props, but I opened it in the LotEditor and deleted most of the props leaving only house and searchlight, and the sound didn't desappear. 2. The second issue is connected with the road network, as I can think. You know that every time you build a road, street, avenue or any other type of network you can hear that sound of roadworks ("brrrrr-du-du-du-du-beep-beep-beep..."). Again, theoretically it must disappear after the road is built, but in my game it continues to sound at the "ending end" (where you have stoped to drag), like some ghost of workers killed during the construction are still working there . It disappears only after I exit the city and load it again. I have NAM 30 with hotfix package, RHW and NAM Euro Cosmetic Re-Texture Mod by MandelSoft, and I can guess that the cause is hidden somewhere in these modds, but am I right? I know, that these problems are very minor and can be solved by simple turning the sounds off, but I really love playing SC4 and listening to the sound of the city, and sometimes these bugs become really annoing. I also want to note, that they hasn't appeared recently. In fact I have experienced them since a started playing SC4, and all this time I have been interested what it is. So, I will be very glad if someone will share some information about it. Thanks!

So I got a few (it's probably a lot but I don't remember) canal mods from simgoober (awesome canals btw) but the problem is everytime I plop one down in my city it makes a sound like someone just took a big dump (my sound and music is always turned off), and everytime I get back to SC4 after I minimize it, it makes the same sound. It's not that big of an issue, but it gets annoying if you multitask while playing SC4. Is it something wrong that I did on my end? For now the only solution is after I complete the canals I save the city, exit to region and then come back and then the sound bug is gone, but that's only until I place another canal piece. A more permanent solution (besides deleting the mods) would help greatly. Thanks for reading!

    This is my very first upload to simtropolis. Hope you all enjoy. Maniruanga is a 10x10 large city region hand made completely from the depths of my fantasy. It relates to my City Journal named "Maniruanga". Features a sound with few crossings suitable for bridges - ferry time!! To the south you'll find some vulcanic islands with a little somewhat flat area to build To the west you'll find the beginning of a mountain chain covered in heavy forrests and lakes formed by meltwater. In the middle of the map you'll find a smaller mountain chain cut in half by a river. On the rest of the map, the north is generally more hilly than the south. The number of hills and their size increase the further east you go. This map was made with the following mods (dunno if they count as dependencies): HD White Sands Beach Mod PEG MTP Terrain Modd 1 SHK Brigantine 2.0 (Blue-Green) PEG MTP God Mode Tree Mod 1 Rate comment and enjoy
