Most are largely due to the excellent content so graciously shared on this site. But I feel like I'm missing something important. There is some element of world simulation that I'm not adding in, and I cannot put my finger on it. I suppose it could be that I just grow bored of creating another neighborhood or routing another monorail line...but in the past I have always discovered something here that had me racing back to each city to find a way to squeeze in a new nightlife district or a new sports venue, etc. I almost miss the days long ago when i just went Skyscraper hunting...simpler times...simpler tastes. ------------ What am I forgetting? What have you done lately to enliven your cities? Thanks for your input...
  2. Hello all, So yeah, back again with this asset and trying to figure out how to update it. Since the last time, I was able to get the inversed/reversed textures sorted out, and I was able to extract one of the sub buildings, but can't for the life of me find the other. So as simple this may sound, can someone go into mod tools with this asset and find the other sub building for me. I've been looking for a while now, on and off, and just cant find it. Maybe someone can and just tell me where it is. I am assuming the other sub building has the asset tag UC_Part 2 as the other sub building has the tag UC_Part 1. I tried with quick filter and it has come up with nothing. Hopefully somone can help. That would be great! btw, the asset is the united center by Tomas13TO

So, there is this great asset on the workshop that I want to add night lights to(need a contributor for that) ,remove some aspects of the texture map(done) and make functional for varsity sports(know how to do ). I would do it myself but I really don't understand it. I have read threads and watched videos, but I still don't get it. Could someone make one for me?. I would credit you for your work on my workshop of course and if you have a steam username, tag you as a contributor. My goal is to just get as many of the stadiums on the workshop to actually function , this is one of them. I have got both the indoor arena by Tomas13TO functioning and the Delta Center by Crazyglueit is nearly complete(one bug left and I am done, thank god tho it doesn't involve night lights). I have also re-imported the Byars Hall assets by KingLeno to make them functioning, witch they are. Hopefully someone can be my co-project creator on this asset and help in this regard. Thanks a ton!. btw, the asset in question is Maple Leaf Garden arena by TooToXiC2K. I could not get into contact with the author, so I am doing it on my own, but for sure will give him model credit if I can get it that far.
  4. Greetings!! I have pored over the tutorials that I have found concerning region creation with USGS Data and I am stumped. All the tutorials I have found are either out of date or incomplete, maybe I'm not finding the correct tutorial. I have tried Custom Terrains and Using USGS Data Creating Scale Accurate Geographic based Regions Creating a map from Google Earth [UPDATED] The first one seems outdated and extremely hard to follow with the new web layout of the USGS Web-site. The second one is incomplete. The third one seems to be incomplete or net detailed enough for me to follow along and get it right. Is there any tutorials out there that are more current, up to date, and easier to follow than the three I listed? Either on this site or another site? Any help or direction would be appreciated.   6. Hey, after week of learning again and again same simple things i am finally able to make own thing from zero to final stage, so i decided create own topic to gather all created stuff.. I am big newbie, so i appreciate every help!

Hi, i'm new and basically im trying to convert pre-textured 3d models of cars to assets for CS but im so lost on how to properly uv map or how to make a proper diffuse maps for a model that already has textures(in seperate files at that). . Heres a look at what im working on. The models already have their own uv maps(right?) though they don't seem to include the wheels and they're organized weirdly..i can't rearrange or explode them in the uv editor without the models textures going allover the place and messing up. And those are examples of the textures. I've already looked at the two tutorials on steam related to making assets for CS but they're missing too much info and are more focused on models that aren't textured and overall didnt help me much at all. I know the basics to what type of texture maps cars need, and how to optimize the mesh to have less polys. If anyone can please help me i'd appreciate it. I use 3dsmax 2015 but can also use blender

    This is one of the extra files @catty-cb has maintained on her site and now has kindly passed over to us here at Simtropolis for hosting. The zip file contains three files: London Fires.doc London Fires.SNR London Fires.SSC I did a byte for byte file comparison of the .SNR file and it matches the one that came with my GoG version of the game located in the C:\GOG Games\SimCity 3000 Unlimited\Cities\Scenarios folder. So, I believe the important part here is that the .doc file has a thorough explanation of how the scenario was created. I have no idea what the .SSC file is, but I suspect it's the equivalent of the source code that was used to make the .SNR file. So, I'm including this for the peeps who actually know what to do with it. (I'm no help on this cause I'm confuzzled by it.) You will notice this file is not my creation and credit for keeping it alive goes to catty. This STEX entry will stay under my name tho since I'm in charge of the new SimCity 3000 Sub-Forum and I'll be the one to reply to comments or questions.

I've just released my first assets and I decided to create a post not because there is much to see, but rather because as an inexperienced modeler it will be a good place to collect feedback and ask for advice. (I would like to keep the forum clean from my numerous questions!) So my project is a modular medieval wall that is currently made out of 7 parts of a 6m high set. This is the short version, which is suitable for town walls, but a 12m set is planned. I might also do a 9m version but don't quote me on that. The wall parts are based on the great "stone wall" template of Sparks, so they can be placed freely and conform to terrain. I tried to make their stats balanced in terms of entertainment value. I wanted the towers to avoid flattening the terrain and as I'm not good with playing with building's properties, I went with a water tower template without stats. It's not the most convenient but it works. It's also worth noting that the assets only really work well with an anarchy mod (especially the gates that I made without roads for more freedom).
