  1. Hey everyone!! I am sorry about this, I posted a identical topic in the mods page, but then realized that my question should not go there. I went back and tried to delete that post, but I don't see a selection to do so. So, I apologize that this topic says the same as the one before it. My mistake. Here is what the post said.... Hey everyone!! I wanted to sit down and start installing the mods/files/patches that are listed in the SimCity 4 Ultimate Guide - I finally have time to do this!! So I went to the first set of downloads, labeled "Performance and Graphics List", took a look at what was listed and I don't see a stated folder for these files to go into. Maybe I am missing something, and I do admit that I don't know much about this sort of thing. I am looking in my SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition folder, aside from the shortcut, I see "Documents" and "Tools". Again, I apologize for being naive. Any and all help is appreciated! Anyway, I think the topic content belongs here, so that is why I am posting it here. Again, I am sorry for the confusion.
  2. Hi, I installed sc4 successfully in Linux and everything is working great. But I'm trying to install NAM and I can't I tried searching for this files in the NAM installer folder and no success NetworkAddonMod_Setup_Version49.sh If anyone has successfully installed NAM in Fedora Atomic kde or any other Linux distro please help. Or, If anyone knows how to run JAR files? Thanks I can't install Windows 11. My computer is very, very slow with W11. With Windows 10, I will lose support in October, and my solution was Windows LTS, but I don't want to go through the process of configuring Windows LTS on my main PC. I read somewhere here a solution: that going back to Windows 10, installing NAM there, then backing up all the files to a USB or another drive, and then copying the files to my Linux plugins folder, but I think it's kind of tedious, and I thought that the NAM installer was compatible with Linux as is described in the readme, but my distro can't run JAR files unless I install some things with the terminal, and I don't have any knowledge about that, so I don't know what could be another not-so-time-consuming solution. I don't know if I should wait for NAM 50 with the DLL files, or is going to be the same? SimCity 4 runs pretty fast without any glitches with the Graphics and CPU DLLs installed. I think runs better than with win 10, at windows 10 I had some random glitches even with all the drivers up to date. I installed Bazzite KDE and I run the game with Lutris without any hard tinkering. I can't install the 4gb patch under Linux with Wine. I don't know if that's needed with Fedora Atomic (Bazzite)

Hi everybody, i don't know if this is the right section for this topic, anyway i have downloaded the BSC Common Dipendencies pack v9b and i have tried to extract the files with 7z program manually because for the moment i want only 2 files in this big archive, but during the extraction 7z at a certain point stop to extract and an error with the same name of the file appear, but i can only close the 7z window and so i can't extract this dependencies, i have tried this 3 times and is always the same, anybody know what can i do? Actually the files that i need are only 2, "jenx medieval houses prop pack" and "bat props jenx vol 2" and i find them only in this huge archive, i need them for the building models of "jenx fachwerk houses" and "paeng old town center", if there is an alternative way to have only this 2 files without downloading all the mega archive will be great, and if there is out there other medieval buildings sets let me know, thanks to everybody and sorry for my english

    I found some old Simcities.com Files that are not uploaded (I think) on Simtropolis. 1. Hotel Bueno 2. Panasonic Buenos Aires 3. BlaM Passenger Rail Station (made by MarcosMX) 4. BlaM Burger King (made by MarcosMX) And I have a question. Where is the Nasinneula Observation Tower? I can't find it in STEX.

Have been having a look thru my computer backups and what I saved from the old SC3000 Website before the site went down for the final time City files = 1018 Starter Towns = 56 Terrain Files = 169 Most of them should be uploaded into the club, but as I found when I had a sort out of the SC2 club I had missed uploading some of them, over the next few weeks will be going thru the downloads in the club and just checking that everything that was saved from the old SC3000 website is actually in the club
  8. Hi fellow mayors, Is it possible to edit the size of SC4M files? I'm playing a region but it's far too big and causing performance issues, is it possible to edit the SC4M file and cut its size? I've managed to get SC4Mapper ported but it doesn't allow the size of a region to be edited I believe, and I can't manage to get SC4Terraformer ported onto my system. Could anyone help me out? Any region editor for Mac or would someone be able to edit the SC4M I want to use for me? Thanks all.

It would be best suited in the SC4 Modding - Open Discussion forum, but there is no "Quick question" topic and I didn't want to start a whole new one simply for this. Lately I'm working on tweaking SC4 files with the ILive Reader. I found out there is XML in the SC4Desc and SC4Model files. However, it doesn't seem to be used by the game as changing it or completely removing it doesn't seem to affect the functionality of the mod in any way. I guessed it may be used by the lot editor. Could someone tell me what is it used for?
  11. Hello, Long time player here, I was wondering if anyone could direct me to more resources with regards to reading maps and regions? I'd like to inspect individual tiles on a map: is it occupied? anything underground? location on grid, etc. I'd like to do the same at a region level. I've got the ilive_reader and guide; but before I dive-in I'd like to see if there's anything more I can read. Perhaps down to the level for an API? Hello Currently all my SimCity 4 mods are installed in "C/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins" however, the C drive on my computer has relatively limited space, because it is the system drive, it was never intended to install any games or games related items on it. Currently my C drive only has about 10GB space left, so I wonder if I can move the "Plugins" folder into one of the dedicated game drives on my computer, which have way more storage space. Thanks
  13. Okay, so I am still gonna run SC4 on my pokey laptop sometimes, but when I am stuck at home due to weather, I would prefer to run it on my main rig. Couple questions though, maybe some people can help out... 1) I installed the game itself on my D: drive (as my main C: drive is a slower HDD and not an SSD, plus C: only has 5.20GB free space on it). However, if I understand correctly, all plugins have to be in the C:\Users\[user name]\SimCity 4\Plugins location. Is there a way to change this to go into the D: drive, or if it is easier, would a shortcut from the location on D: into this location work? 2) Any other tips to easily make a "mirror" from one computer to another computer? My plan is to just be able to copy my region I am working on onto an external hard drive and rewrite the region on whatever computer I happen to be using. I really don't want reinstall all plugins if I don't have to. I tried copying my SimCity4 data from my laptop onto my computer. Brown boxes everywhere!
  14. Help uploading STEX files

    Hey, I'm a noob when it comes to uploading files to the STEX, so I don't even know if this is the correct forum to ask this. Anyways, I need help figuring out how to properly upload files to the STEX, as well as how to delete unwanted ones. I tried uploading my first file (Addon for RRetail's Gas Station Relots), but it somehow ended up uploading with all images documents and folders as seperate downloads when I tested the download button after uploading it, and I'm pretty sure no one wants to be forced to download tens if not hundreds of different files, depending on how large the file is, just to get a single BAT, Lot or other custom content. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Changing PC help

    Hi you guys. I'm hoping that you can give me some advice and helpful information. I've been playing SC4 since around 2005. Everytime I've changed PC/laptops I've basically had to start over and lost years worth of city and region building. Any advice, links, or helpful info on the best way to transfer my SC4 for my old laptop to newer one would be very appreciated. I used to have the CD version of course, but with Win10 I bought the digital thru Steam. So its my plugins and cities/regions that I need to transfer so that I can start playing again on my new laptop. My old laptop still has all the SC4 files, folders, etc. And I also saved my Plugins and Regions folders to a flash drive. This site has been so helpful and informative thru the years. Thank you.
  16. Is anyone familiar with Cobb32118 stuff ? I'm going though my Landmarks and removing a bunch of Plop stuff I don't need and came across Cobb Central Park - To my surprise, I went to the folder and just see 2 plop files and all the original files are gone - The original .zip has 6 extra files, the Model.sc4model file and some Growable. I only have 5 items (zip files) from Cobb and none of them have a Cleanitol, so not sure what file from someone else did that EDIT: It appears COBB Mega Props 1-5 have Cleanitol files, and found Vol.03 has mention of Central Park, but not any for Growables. If any of this helps, I tracked down to CAM Commercial Offices and almost 200MB Folder of original Zip files. It looks like one of Cleanitol files removed the Growables and have things solved. Was wondering why it was gone, but makes sense now that it's part of this larger pack Issue Resolved
  17. I just downloaded Origin on a new computer (Windows 10). I have all of my old cities from 2003-2007 saved to the cloud but whenever I copy and paste them into the computer folder, SimCity 4 removes them and won't load my old cities. I created new regions, copied and pasted the old cities, but as soon as I start to play the game the region is either all water or all land and all of the pasted files are completely gone. Is there any fix to this, or any way to get the old cities to load? I already replaced the entire file folder for SimCity 4 with my old version, no luck. Thanks for the help.

  19. Guys, I've got a custom building-related question. Obviously, any add-on buildings in SC4 should go into the "Plugins" folder. But that alone results in a mess sooner or later. Is it ok, to put the buildings into additional directories within the "Plugins" folder to organize them? Or will that prevent the game from successfully loading them?
  20. How to upload a building set?

    I am building a Mediteranean city with the European architecture set, but it looks too Germanic. So I oppened the BAT and re-skinned the sample houses that come with it. A lot. Then I re-skinned the sample highschool. Because the default one looked too American. Now I have 31 buildings. Rendered. Somewhere. They work fine in-game. They Look like this: How do I upload the files and building list here? Just mass upload the .bld files or? Thanks in advance.
  21. Im backing up my My Document Plugin directory and get this message - 200+ files wont transfer to another hard drive so I can keep backups because the file name is too large ? I've running Windows 7 w/ 2 SSD drives in RAID 0 and not sure if I formatted it wrong ? Usually when about to Format NTFS, it asks about the block size, but I usually leave it as default. According to AS SSD, if msahci is all green letters and says OK, it's good. I've had issues in past where I had some feature disabled in Bios and it had Red letters and ahci or something, but to fix it, you have to totally reload Windows fresh with Bios option set correctly. I do have a program called Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12 Professional that does advanced things. Im guessing that is my only option to back ? When it does backups, it creates it's own synthetic type ISO file and it will expand into a new folder of my choice.
  22. Standardized .rar Files

    There's been a flood of uploads lately, and some of the files wont open for me. They are in some format that WinRar doesn't recognize. Since, pretty much, the time SimT and Dev(and most foreign sites) have been around, uploads have been in WinRar, 7Zip or came with an installer. Since my file opener wont tell me what these files are, maybe that info could be included in the upload. Or a standardized system could be put in place. One member told me his Peazip wouldn't open my file. Never heard of that "brand". WinRar has been around forever and it's 30 day free-trial is one of the worst kept secrets on the 'net. I've been on that 30 days for 15 years. Some members I don't even bother downing because I know it will end up in the trash. Anyone else having this issue?

  24. SC4 has been running poorly for me recently. While investigating I noticed a lot of backup files in the EXE install location. I use the Origin version (but version 641) Any idea if this is junk I can delete? I don't think I have encountered this before. Running on Windows 10. My shortcut code looks like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -Intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -CPUPriority:high d:DirectX -CPUCount:8 Config log if needed is attached RYAN-PC-config-log.txt Thanks in advance!
  25. Since December 25, 2015 I have used an Asus desktop PC with Windows 10, and I have quite a collection of SimCity 4 regions/cities built up. A new PC, a Lenovo laptop also with Windows 10, goes into service next week. How do I get my SimCity 4 content ported intact to the new PC so I can just pick up where I left off?
