Islamic Republic Of Al-Kaled
WE ARE BACK !!! AND WE ARE HUNGRY !!! After losing all my work and my data due to a damn virus i gave up on making or posting an update of this journal but after some sure encouragement from my friends and my favourite city journos and a lot of people i decided to work and post an update well i decided to start afresh and it did helped. This is just a something which i would like to call a raw update as i am working on it and i wanted to remind people that my city journal isn't dead its just there's a lot of things that i am going through Islamic Republic Of Al-Kaled This is the flag of Al-Kaled It looks kinda that of Lebanon I don't know why did i got a one way ticket to Kaled or why did i leave Canada and applied for a permanent citizenship in Kaled .......... I have never been to any other middle-eastern country except Afghanistan and Iraq. Before coming back to home by home i mean Montreal and yes i am a Canadian i was posted in Shah-i-kot valley i was serving with the Royal Canadian Regiment. I am amazed to the fact that i am still alive and breathing after what i have been through over the past few years. I came back from Afghanistan in the year 2013 and due to a knee injury i was discharged Honour no longer being physically fit to serve the army i decided to join an architecture firm since i have a (B.Arch). I resigned from the firm as my health was not at its best. Well after months of rest and later finding that the firm has been closed down due to bankruptcy i was devasted i didn't knew what to do the economic condition of Canda was not really good. So, After trying to kill myself countless times (tried once) and failing i decided to give life another chance. Although i wanted to go and find a job in Dubai or Al-Kaled as it was a developing middle-eastern country although i had a better offer in Dubai i decided to choose Al-Kaled booked a one-way ticket with Ethihad Airways to Al-kaled's Capital Al-Helm applied for a permanent citizenship with a month i left Canada and Montreal my home for good. So where was i yeah the Flag . I decided to do some reading about the country i am going to stay so yeah the flag well the red color in the flag signifies the blood lost during the creation of the state and the white circle signifies the equality and the star stands for the faith and friendship and the united provinces (5 provinces). The flag also reminds me that i need to go to the Canadian embassy first and yeah i found it where it is in the book Oooo!! Nice that's how it looks during the day its quite uncanny this kind of architecture in middle east well its middle east after all you can get any type of buildings..... Ah!! a night shot hmmm...interesting its an irony that my new office and the embassy where i am going to live for sometime are very close to each other oh gosh i found another pic its interesting its of the architecture firm i gonna be working for It says that the Heywood Architecture firm made the first skyscraper in Al-Kaled and has one of the most beautiful adn futuristic buildings in Al-Kaled..... Oh my god Al-Kaled is amazing i am excited i just can't wait to be there but unfortunately there's still time lief around 14.7 hrs out of 16 hrs has passed i better get some rest oh yeah i forgot letme introduce you to myself My name is Arden Belhn from Montreal and i am 25 years old and i am gonna take you on an journey of lifetime !!! Till then cheers !! ------------------------------------------------------------------------xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx--------------------------------------------------------------------- REPLIES-- Elavery -Thanks for the comment !! MilitantRadical - If you liked that one than you would love this !!! Jmsepe - The game was paused thanks !!! Ln X - I am really happy that you like it Fan o sc4 - Its an irony that i was working on an Asian cj at the same time lol well even i do ! Neto Dari - Thank you!!! Timmy tams - Well its a canal mod i forgot what's the name of it i'm gonna keep on searching for it !!! Tonyr - Thank you !! Airman15 -Thankyou bro !! Scriefer -Well thank you but this one's gonna be much better !!! A note - If you guys have a cj and want to do something interesting with it i am going to do an economic conference and if you guys want to take part in it you are more than welcome to!!PM me the details of your nation/cj/city !! -

The space is filled. Maybe it's the end.
The city is coming to and end. A 2 entry series might also be coming to an end. So the last thing I have to say is that this city is mostly agricultral. I wasn't able to get pictures because some of them didn't save. This is the only picture I have. So now some of the residential area is farms since a block of residential didn't develop. And now most surrounding areas of the railroad are farms. We still have plenty of residential. 1,407 people believe it or not. And we have a little bit of R$$. 2 houses so far. Well. I will wait a little bit. But as of now. It has come to a close.- Read More

2: Makin' Our Way Downtown...
@HighTower76: Thank you! Although admittedly, Phoenix's grid network mostly laid it out for me @TekindusT: I've been following Tenements & Rust since before I left 2 years ago, and it was part of my inspiration to create my early attempts at CJ's, so that means a lot to me! @Durfsurn: Absolutely. As Compdude suggested, I'll probably just rearrange some tiles wherever it is needed, since I'd rather not sacrifice too much accuracy. As for the lack of BATs, I'm planning on trying to BAT a few things myself (Hopefully some people can help me out there), but mostly I'll just substitute similar-looking buildings in their place. @dlsni: Trying my best not to die, but it's quite difficult at times This project may be crazy, but it's a good kind of crazy. @elavery: Yes, I do plan to try BATing some of the more famous buildings (ie US Airways Center, Chase Field, Biltmore Hotel, etc), although I know a half-finished Cardinals Stadium is floating around sc4devotion... @fan o SC4: Thanks, I'll need it. @tonyr: I'm not sure where it will go myself. I'd expect it to span a couple years, if I don't lose inspiration... @Tonraq: Thanks! Laying out roads is more difficult than you'd think... @PhatHead: You just wait, there's much more to come @Schriefer: As am I. @jmsepe: Hopefully I can stay motivated / focused to see it to completion. What with school though, I'm not sure @CompDude787: I didn't even take the population factor into consideration. It should be fun to see how over-the-top it turns out to be. And yes, I think I'll have rearrange the city tiles like you said. The main reason I was avoiding it was because it would make my region management job more difficult. And luckily I don't have to worry about your Seattle problem: 14-lane HOV highways with exits every mile running through downtown. And we don't have nearly the density that Seattle does, so that helps a lot. @rewright: It is quite an undertaking. I guess I'll have to regulate my attention to detail, because otherwise I'll never get this project done. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ... ... ...aaaaaaand I've officially no longer a one-update wonder! You heard me right. I managed to design the entire downtown road network without dying. Now, let's see what I've done to said road network: Here we have our region view. As you can see, downtown is still a bit of a loner, but we'll fix that soon. Let's get closer in: We'll start off by exploring the outskirts of downtown before entering the heart of the storm. Here's the very industrial south side: As indicated, this area is a mild ghetto. You'd probably be safe walking the streets, but it's still not a good place to be alone. Enjoy that nice smooth highway for now, because I-10 is a whole different monster that I'll have to tackle in another update. This area is more what I call a "historic ghetto," in that this area is home to the earliest industrial centers that drove Phoenix's growth. As you'd expect, a railroad track (the Union Pacific Railroad) runs conveniently through this area. At the top of the picture, you can see a pretty good sign of where industry turns to commercial as roads get nicer and curvier. Phoenix has a bit of a "other side of the tracks" situation going on. For reference, the horizontally-running TLA-5 at the bottom of the picture is the same road as the one running along the top of the previous picture. Now we enter the west side. West Phoenix has a bit of a strange identity crisis going on, as its north half becomes extremely residential while its bottom half remains heavily industrial. Also, living conditions are slightly better here than those shown in the previous two pictures. As noted, you can see the terminus of Grand Avenue in the center of this picture. Grand Avenue will become an incredibly important road later on as it turns into US 60, which services much of The Valley. For reference, the pair of horizontally-running one-way roads at the bottom of the picture are the same ones running through the top of the previous. Now then, let's stop avoiding it and plunge straight in to the center, shall we? Here's downtown: Yes, it's a downer of a city center in comparison to most US cities, but it's nice nonetheless (It will be much better with buildings). Also, it's a little lonely right now thanks to the lack of a light rail system. Unfortunately, I can't install a light rail system with the current NAM limitations (maybe if we get single-track light rails). I'll go a lot further in-depth on my temporary solutions to the lack of light rail pieces in the next update. Also, just for fun, I decided to try putting labels onto each of the roads for reference sake. The results weren't half bad: All right. If you're familiar with the Phoenix area, you probably know why I've been avoiding the north side of downtown. Here's a hint: A certain highway runs through there. Well, let's take a look: Whew. You can't look at that without cringing. While I-17 is nice, flowing and easy to control (It also helps that it's a 6C highway most of the way), I-10 is... not. It is a 12-lane highway for the most part through downtown, though some stretches are 14-lane. The RHW in its current form, of course, cannot handle this, so I had to do a workaround. It doesn't help that the exit style used in Phoenix is slightly modified from a standard diamond, in that all 4 paths intersect in one spot in the middle. As you may imagine, SimCity cannot handle this in a pretty way. For now, the exits will be left as these kinds of ugly heaps until I can work out a better way to present them. Also, see the section I circled? Yep, apparently 5S lane shift pieces don't exist. So that was my temporary solution to having to move the highway down one tile. I'll go back in and redo several stretches of this highway when I muster the courage. But wait, there's more. Come visit Northwest Downtown... Yes, that picture at the top is the actual exit. If FARRHW pieces could work that smoothly in-game, I'd be set. Alas, they do not, and I'm stuck with this monstrosity. Oh well... So what's next on my to-do list besides ripping my hair out over RHW? Well, let's visit Eastern Downtown... In the center of this picture you can see my early feeble attempts at designing the Phoenix Railyard. Just so you know, the yard takes up the entirety of that empty patch in the middle of the picture. Looks like I'll need to break out some plugins to make it look right. Finally, the last thing I need to do is begin my hunt to find buildings that fit into the Phoenix style. Hopefully my search won't be in vain... ~~~~~~~ Before I end, I ask you all to respond to a little poll: How do you think I should post my future updates? My options are either to break updates into smaller chunks, and focus on one section of a city tile at a time, or I could continue doing these mass updates that show a ton of progress but are very slow to get out (and when school starts in 2 weeks, they will be much slower to get out). Let me know what you think. For now, I'll set my main focus on the railyard and fixing the highway system in North Downtown. See you soon! -Samness -

Colbitz International Airport
On the west side of town is the newly built Colbitz City Stadium. It's also the northern end of the Colbitz Airport Monorail and main road to the airport. The monorail passing some light industry and stores. The main passenger terminals. The airport handles mainly international flights. Cargo and general aviation to the east. To the northwest is ILAB Juntura. The base handles C-130s, F-18s, and the Presidential 737. The non-flying part of ILAB Juntura. The whole airport. - 2

Replies Thanks to everyone who replied and/or read this journal.
mb1.0.2- Thank you. Industrial districts are tricky. I would recommend the IRM (with industrial job multiplier) and some of the SC4D Industirals. Unfortunately, industrial can be very hard to BAT, so it tends to lack content.
tankmank- Thanks. I have a bit of a preview, though this one will take some time to finish.
juliok92012- Thank you.
NielsC007- Thank you.
Schriefer- Thank you.
a_muses- Thank you. Coherent regions are usually what I build for.
_marsh_- Thank you. Nice tag line idea.
So, RL sidelined this update a little longer than I had intended. No need to worry, though I am back and should be able to return to my regular schedule now. Today, I'm showing off the first work on the Bella Vista CBD. Some of this is in a very raw state, so I apologize in advance for the empty tiles and missing details in some of these images. We'll start with a general overview of the area. As you can see all of the development so far has been concentrated to the north of the interchange I featured last time. This interchange marks the end of two major highways and provides a great divider bewtween the residential on the hill and the CBD in the flats. The residential district to the west is built on the northern slope of mountain. This makes development particularly difficult, so much of this area is medium density structures housing a variety of people. These apartments right here offer some of the cheapest housing in this part of town for obvious reasons. The closer to downtown you get, the denser the blocks become. This particular block is a favorite of mine because of its non-standard shape and general cohesiveness. Down toward the water front the land is more level. This allows me to develop these lovely towers the overlook the ocean. The area behind these has not yet been developed. Across the highway, the office towers begin to rise. This area is one of the first areas of the CBD that I could call finished. One of the things any downtown area needs is a park or two to stretch in. This admittedly small and empty park is bordered by some gigantic apartment complexes. I had no idea this building was lurking in my plugin files. Definitely, enjoyed seeing it though. Finally, this is why I love building downtown areas. There is not photo editing here, and only two of the buildings (the hospital and The Shard) were plops. This night view is one of the best I've ever made. That is all for this week. Until next time... - 11

You can thank the NAM team for that! Compdude787: What houses are those? I want them. mb1.0.2: This is awesome. I love your farms and the way you've framed them with the forest. They look so organic. Nice job on the roads, too. It feels so real. And that poor suburb...how boring! I guess I'm lucky enough to have about 5 or 6 different models of homes in my suburb, ha. Thank you! I guess you are lucky! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Welcome Back Teaser I'm back from my trip, and I'm working hard in the LE to put together this next area south of Harding. 28. Railway Schedule - Umyasto -> Siga's Place
Nowoimiasto -> Umyasto The train have passed through the gentle slope of the Mountain's forest, it is now passing through Umyasto, the new town project just at the edge of Entrum. Umyasto is a typical new town in the 'Nation', we can see the basic apartment towers for the population again. Umyasto is also a freight transition node, resources and products from other place go into the city through here. Umyasto -> Progresja Tunnel Progresja Tunnel connects Umyasto and Entrum. It is a pretty old rail tunnel that served as an important route getting in and out from Entrum. While traffic was getting heavier, the authority built a bypass at the foot of the Mountain that somehow have mitigate the traffic of the railway. Progresja Tunnel -> Siga's Place What welcomes the trains for entering Entrum is the 'Wheel of Leadership'. An engineering for promoting tourism and national order, the Wheel of Leadership is built to commemorate the reign and leadership of certain 'Great Leader'. Siga's Place is surrounded by mountain and water, which is not a common thing in the 'Nation'. A few blocks of guesthouses are also available for visitor who wished to come and experience the landscape and the city. Now Entering Entrum. Thank You for Travelling with National Rails. ==================================================================================================== Replies: slickbg56, tankmank, TekindusT: Thank you, sure there are pros and cons for building on slopes, I hope the results are pleasing. MilitantRadical: That's what cable cars are for , it is challenging and at the same time quite satisfying if I managed to build what I imagined. Richie99, fan o SC4, Arvenix24, 3ZZZS, Tonraq, Konstantinll: Thanks a lot! sarthakknight, sejr99999: be mindful for landslide though Casper3141: Maybe one should just sit back in his house and employing drones to look after his life LoL LnX: The main issue of this season is always the stupid retaining walls form VanillaSC4 or external lots...I probably will cover those up with MMP trees later -

Scenes of Suburbia - Kimberleigh
I've been a busy bee! Lets take a look at some suburbs. These shots show mainly Kimberleigh, an area about 8km north-east of Redwolf's city core. The suburb is served by two stations, Kimberleigh and Argyle. Kimberleigh is the more southerly of the two and serves intercity and metro trains. Argyle is more northerly, and lies at the Argyle St. crossing. (The government should really fix that crossing and grade separate it...) Main roads border and criss-cross the suburb, with a streetplan designed not to impede traffic. Rivers flow along the edge of the suburb, allowing for a natural break to the sprawl. The north parts of the area are home to industry. Houses here tend to be properties of lower income earners than those closer to the core. Fairfield Rd bisects the suburb into two. It also provides a direct route to Victoria and the city of Redwolf, as well as north beyond. That's all for now! I shall hopefully bring you more suburbs soon, as Redwolf is starting to boom! -Yoshi - 9

An Improved City
I was unsatisfied with this city despite its density, mostly because I don't like skyscrapers hanging out at the edges of the city (looks ugly for pictures) and I wanted to try out the development of new custom buildings (as well as the DarkNite mod!) Here's some of the new stuff that came about! I was able to get a defined downtown through some careful zoning! I obtained Hunt Enterprise and Cahalane Communications, and was able to get Lind Entertainment close to the city center rather than at the corner. Got a new Ong Condos as well Accompanying the double Pedriana's Pharmaceuticals is the Hogan Wallace & White Insurance building! Another nicely designed skyscrapers in a satisfactory location. Such phenomenal work was done on this game...I mean that detail! The long building pictured there is one of the custom buildings! They're infrequent unfortunately, but they do appear! When I was doing the zoning work to relocate the skyscrapers, some of them appeared! Unfortunately, I'm still having trouble getting them to appear consistently. A widely expanded CO$$ district. These buildings still look pretty nice for some blocky concrete slabs. Such office space would still be very expensive. On the right you can see that glassy skyscraper. I think I got all of 'em in this game! The vanilla ones, of course. More specifically, the CO$$$ ones. A custom skyscraper! This is the Jeweler's building from Chicago. Unfortunately this one is an invasive species: it kept trying to appear wherever it could, much like Wren Insurance. It's beautifully made.... Just an overview: I made way for a large airport, got more tall buildings, and rezoned some high tech industrial just to stimulate some high wealth demand. -

I should have wrote this a while ago
Perhaps some of you around here still remember me and this journal. If you do I have something to say to you. If the name "New Chandler" doesn't ring any bells, this probably isn't going to excite you As you may have figured out if you followed this journal at any point in the last year (or four), I have left Simtropolis and the Sim City community to focus on my now-concluded senior year and the events that the great big world has in store for me in the future. You assumed right, this journal has indeed ended, as has my Sim City career. However, I was lurking on this site earlier this week, and remembered that during this time in early July four years ago was the time I began this journal, which I hastily called "New Chandler" for lack of a better name, since I didn't think it would be a long-lasting project. Looking back at this endeavor from the end of its journey, New Chandler went on for 3 years, 63 updates, went through 3 unions and hoards of Simlympic events, amassed roughly a thousand comments on a plethora of Sim City fansites, and a remarkable amount of views beyond my wildest desires as a journalist (over 90,000 views were on Simtropolis alone, the 11th most in the history of the site at the time of me writing this) on its way to the Top 10 of Ben's Top 100. If you would have told me that those numbers would be for one of my creations four years ago, I would have been in in plentiful disbelief and would have asked you, "the hell are you smoking?" I said my good-byes to my bombastic union life long ago, and to my friends at Simmania in November, but I realized as I randomly stopped by Simtropolis recently that I more-or-less vanished from this site without much of a warning to anyone who wasn't a member of Simmania, which wasn't really appropriate, for this was the site that truly made my journal as enjoyable and such a statistical "success" (if you can call it that) as it was for me for the past years. So yes, I'm here almost an entire year after I left to write my final goodbyes to this place, merely because I didn't do so back then. I'm going to miss this place, and reading every heartfelt comment you guys had on this creation of mine I shared with you on the more lonely and rainy Portland nights. Many of you viewed my humble work as something truly special, and it is a wonderful feeling that I am going to miss. Never would I have ever imagined in my wildest dreams that my work, as ambitious or laid-back as it may have been, would be something people would look forward to seeing. Words cannot explain how thankful I am for all you have done to make this journal what it became. As baseball announcer Ernie Harwell said: "It's time to say goodbye, but I think goodbyes are sad and I'd much rather say hello. Hello to a new adventure." I'm going to college in two months and I can't wait to see where it takes me, because I do not doubt it will throw lots of exciting suprises at my life. Best wishes to all of you and all of your future aspirations as well. -Ky Smith, the journalist better known as K50 6 July 2014 - 30

New PC, new life
It's been a while since I have updated this journal, or anything on ST. My interest in SimCity comes and goes. However, I now have a reason to bring this CJ back. (If there was anything to bring back in the first place!) Tomorrow I'll have a new, high-end PC for SimCity and gaming! The first game to go on to this new computer will be the new SimCity. I plan to change this journal from being SC4 focused to being SC13 focused. My current computer struggled to even run SC13 on minimum quality. I hope my new PC will be able to run the game without these issues. Updates to this CJ will likely be sporadic, possibly non-existent. But that's the way I work. My ADHD makes it difficult to stay interested in games for more than a few days, quite awful considering that this kind of hobby is a major commitment. Still,I will do my best to post something in the coming days. Stay tuned!- Read More

Little Italy
Roselle, affectionately known as "Little Italy", is a taste of foreign in the heart of the breadbasket of the North Coast District Municipality, located on the southern outskirts of Tamworth and west of Melrose. The North Coast District Municipality is truly a breadbasket of the region, as the table below shows. A significant 155.9ha is under cultivation, of which most is dedicated to vegetables, grains and fruit - no small part due to the heavy taxation on non-food produce. The very little viticulture and alcohol production that does take place is located, mainly, in Little Italy. In a bid to encourage tourism in the area, the hamlet of Roselle and surrounds has escaped the heavy tax burden. Little Italy is an experimental venture by distant immigrant relatives of the Frescobaldi family, notable Tuscan winemakers. The end result is Roselle, a (faux) Tuscan tourist trap known for its local wines, a fresh produce market, and a favourite wedding destination. Click for the massive 8.5MB Original (2968 x 2028px). Do it... Viticulture is aided by both the cool coastal air from the east and the proximity to the river in the south. Click for Original (1366 x 768px) The Roselle Market, next to the Chapel of Roselle, is frequented by locals from Tamworth and tourists alike, showcasing and selling the best fresh produce from the area. Click for Original (1366 x 1073px) Even at night the market attracts, albeit much younger, crowds sampling the local wine and rum (more about that later)... Click for Original (1366 x 1134px) The above-mentioned relatives of the Frescobaldi family reside in Villa Ottavia, an unmistakable landmark in an otherwise rural setting... an even more recent intrusion makes the home hard to miss... Not one to miss out on a business opportunity, Wayne Ross Industries struck a deal with the Frescobaldis and bought a sizeable stretch of land within the boundaries of Roselle. Milking the area's attractiveness to tourists - and handsome tax breaks - Congressman Ross funded a permanent fair ground for the farmers in the North Coast District Municipality. This unsavoury pocket of Little Italy has earned it the nickname Covo di Peccatori, which we non-Italian speakers assume means "Den of Sinners". The City of Sulisbury
Full Sized Map Our next journey takes us to the City of Sulisbury, which is the second largest city in the Durrow County region. It's recovering from the recession and is slowly becoming a business hub with many businesses changing from Durrow City, the capital and largest city to Sulisbury. It's without a doubt the city that has managed to handle the recent downfall the best. The railway station is located in East Downtown. Across the avenue lies the Sulisbury Library and Sulis Park. Heading west we see an array of government buldings. Both the headquaters of the Sulisbury Police Department and the Durrow County Department of Finance are located here. Following the tracks we see the traces of the recession. The nearly abandoned industrial area and the old, depressing houses. In the top left we see Sulisbury High School. Going back and past downtown we head back onto Highway 36. The big white building is the highest in Sulisbury and is called the Sulisbury Times Building. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it! - 4
