Example of LR4 Timetable showing the new NATA Timetable style, based on the Dutch vertrekstaat:

Yesterday I designed a new sign for the NATA Light Rail. In Dutch we are used to this kind of signs, being called a vertrekstaat, and it is best translated as a timetable that shows at what times a certain line or service departs from a certain station. What do you think?

This time no map, but a timetable strip based on the new map style.

@jmsepe I use MS Paint for creating the map and PhotoFiltre to edit some colors afterwards.

My third map in a short amount of time, and it might be my best yet. It will be my last for the next period of time: A future map of NATA Light Rail network 2015.

Today, a new map appeared on the NATAs Facebook Feed. It shows the Temporary Summer Service of 2014. Some lines are changed with lower frequencies because of a need of maintenance. LR1 and LR5 are out of service and there are two extra replacement buses, R1 and R2. Lets take a peek at the previous map, which set the standard for this map: This is the temporary service map: Also published by the NATA is the overview of upcoming service schedules:

It's been a while. Above, you can find the map for the upcoming service which is slightly adjusted because of maintenance works. This will be the new layout for New-Amsterdam maps. Reminder of the previous map:

No big changes - hospitals are now also noted on the map, and Light Rail 4 and 6 switched termini which means they will now cross each other. What do you think?

It has been a long time since real news has took place in New-Amsterdam. All of the New-Amsterdammers are living a fairly nice life in peace. Happy-go-lucky Of course the financial crisis has also struck their city, but the New-Amsterdammers don't foresee any big problems. We interviewed Ashamala Gamaney (22), a resident living in Pragaville (WAT) and commuting every day to The Exchange (DWT). Another resident - Trisha Hagenaar (35) - whom emigrated with her husband and child from the Netherlands, says: It is safe to say the New-Amsterdammers generally live on a happy-go-lucky attitude. Safe and sound In the past months, criminality has generally lowered in the city. 20% less arrests were made on the main islands, while 40% criminality has risen in the Waterside district, unexpectedly. 20% less fires have occured in the whole city as well, probably due to a big fire prevention campaign by the municipality board. Only one big fire has occured, in the World Trade Center on October the 2nd. The area was evacuated and closed down for two days and two floors of the building are damaged. It is yet unknown how the fire occured - it is believed to be caused by a human failure. Less lines with more connections Last but not least, the NATA has uncovered their timetable and route schedule for the next winter. Not only have the frequencies changed as usual, but also the routes of a lot of light rail lines have changed and they will stay permanently. The Light Rail has had a turbulent time with closures and reroutes due to a lot of street works (like the repaving of Downtown), but this map is permanent. There are fewer lines, but they give more connections - and every single line is ought to stop at one of the two big traffic arteries: City Central, or Astoria-upon-Ashford (used to be Astoria Central/Ashford High Dam). And I directly made some changes to the map - now without the usual .jpg blur and with some extra details at some stops, and smaller stop dots.

Thanks for your tips, I appreciate them! On the font size: on the map itself, I chose for a small font (I guess it was 10pt) for smaller/regular stations, 14pt for bigger stations which stand for something, and 16pt for the two big termini (Astoria and City). I guess you're right about the parallel lines, I'll pay attention to that one. I really think its a coincidence as I used these names before, haha. However I do take a lot of those names from places that exist in real life, or are quite frequent. The 'upon-Ashford' is actually because there were two stations before at that same spot, Astoria Central and Ashford, and as Ashford is actually a poldered neighborhood (a piece of land which used to be water), I decided to merge the two neighborhood, and stations as well, and thus name it 'upon-Ashford'.
