There is no doubt that the establishment of St. Paul's College is an important event in the history of Macau. Founded by the Jesuits, Colégio de São Paulo was the first formal higher education institution in the orient. It was established in 1594, and its services ended in 1762. In those years all missionaries who went to spread Christianity in China and the Far East had to come to learn Chinese and oriental languages and cultures. The College also offered courses on western theology, philosophy, mathematics, astronomy and arts in the same way as modern universities. For these reasons the college became the main and first gate that connected the East and the West culturally, scientifically and academically. St. Paul's College had a few number of buildings that formed the complex. Its church building was usually being called as the St Paul's Cathedral, which was burned down twice in 1595 and 1601. The third rebuilding of the church commenced in 1602 and was concluded in around 1640. The façade of the cathedral, which is built with granite, is architecturally Baroque but also contains motif and elements from the east such as Chinese characters. This have made the façade become a representation of the cultural entanglement between the east and west, and eventually the symbol of Macau. =============================================================================================================

2-28 Southwest Middle Township
<DISCLAIMER > Lots of pics, so please be patient waiting for them to load In today's update, we visit southwestern Middle Township to look at the towns of Green Creek and Del Haven. Green Creek (pronounced by the locals as Green Crick) is a small rural town located between the headwaters of Green Creek ( top, right) and Fishing Creek ( bottom, left and right corners). It is the southernmost of the "Crikker" towns . ( See update 2-26, "Crikkers" for explanation). The area was settled in the mid 1700s , and by the end of the War for American Independence , Green Creek had become a village that was a center of life for the surrounding farms . It has changed little over the next two centuries, maintaining its rural identity. Most of Green Creek lies along Delsea Drive (NJ Route 47, left side), including all of its commercial. More recent development has sprung up along Burleigh Road ( east-west road) as the town is evolving to a more residential area. The intersection of Delsea Drive and Bayshore Road (County Road 603) is considered the center of town.(looking west) The Green Creek Volunteer Fire Department, noted for its bright green engines, lies to the west on Bayshore Road. To the west of Green Creek is the Del Haven tile. Originally called Norbury's Landing, it was once a small fishing village, It has become more of a bedroom community for folks working on the resort islands. To the south is the smaller community of Sunray Beach. Bayshore Road turns south to parallel the bayshore. the bayshore , looking south from the site of the original landing. Like most of the towns along Delaware Bay, Del haven took a beating during Hurricane Sandy. Sunray Beach is in the background. South of Sunray Beach is Fishing Creek, which forms some of the boundary between Middle and Lower Townships. Once a tidal creek, a sluice gate and pump were built to regulate water levels to control the mosquito population. When the outfall pipe was buried under tons of sand after storms, the sluice became inoperable and the waters backed up to flood the adjacent lowlands. It is one of Cape May County's larger fresh water habitats and has since been designated as a waterfowl sanctuary. Aerial view of the Fishing Creek meadows. Bayshore Road crosses Fishing Creek into Lower Township. Fishing Creek, looking west from Bayshore Road. Acres of phragmites, some as tall as fifteen feet, have taken over and make this a prime habitat for waterfowl. An east to west mosaic down Bayshore Road : Replies : VicRusty : Thanks ! Being a resort, the one thing Cape May County has is plenty of golf courses. I think I've done 12 of the 14 here so far. Tonraq: Thank you. I've lived here for most of my life, so I have a pretty good feel for the place. Mymyjp : Thank you very much. Glad you liked it. Benedict : Thanks ! Glad to be back. Phil4hockey51: I didn't even know the storage units were there until I went exploring. They are literally right around the corner from my new house. I'll have to realign the units when I get a chance. That's what I get of just doing a quick drive by instead of checking the satellite pics on Google Earth. Huston : Thanks a bunch. I really like the ArtGolf stuff. A lot more to scale than others that I've found. - 55

Following Route 1 (Update 3)
Please be sure to vote in the above poll to help pick the name for our new port! I'll announce the winners this weekend in our next update. Thank you all for submitting name suggestions! We have gathered a list of very unique names, some that I wouldn't have never dreamed of. Good luck and hopefully your suggestion will win! Tonraq - Things are peaceful around here… for now. Huston - Thank you. And yes, there is nothing worse than having a bunch of cows blocking the road! Mymyjp - Thanks for your comment! Poor cows indeed, thankfully they have not caused any more trouble. Akerbeltz - Thank you. I really like a good city journal with a storyline. This is my first attempt at going through with one! jpross123 - I added your suggestion to the list. Update 3 Let's see how things have changed since we left off! Baden… it's a changin'! Each update, our community has nearly doubled in size. Now we are at 2,442 sims! Impressive. Hard work at the Santos Oil Company has really paid off. All of the main roads have been paved, and several new subdivisions have sprouted up. Agriculture is becoming big business at Baden. Everything from tobacco to oranges are being grown locally. One of the recent developments is the new Baden Primary School. It's conveniently located off of Route 1 just east of the port. The community enjoys the new softball field, baseball is a local favorite. Several school buses have been ordered from the United States to help bus students from the more rural parts of town. As part of the deal with the Santos Oil Company, the railroad has been opened for public use. A passenger station and a freight station were built respectively. Santos purchased some excess land to store some of his oil trucks. As you might have noticed in the new areal shot, one might ask… where does the railroad lead south? That's a good question. Today we are adventurous, so we will take a journey down Route 1. It's a good thing we filled up the limo with gas before our journey. This might take a while... After a 20 minute drive and a sharp left turn, we are greeted to the familiar dinging sound of a railroad crossing. Wait, where are we? Where did that train come from? And what idiot paves the sidewalks into a forest yet doesn't complete the ones in town... It appears we have arrived at a farming community. But wait, where did this place come from? The town council never approved new development. Welcome to the unofficial township of Mayberry. The town formed after some local farmers got upset with the politics of the oil company. They moved as far east as they could to get away from the drama. With the help of some of the Baden town council members, they got the funding needed to start developing a new community at the end of Route 1. Many farmers supported the move, as things are starting to get cramped back at home. Local businesses include a battery store, wig world, car lot, a diner and a "greasy" taco stand. Question for You With Baden growing so rapidly, space in the town center has become increasingly valuable. At the last town meeting, they have decided to start a "redevelopment" plan. This includes relocating three farms close to the residential district. Should this space be used to develop more houses, or should it be used to start a new commercial district? How about a mixture of the two? Let me know your thoughts and how you think we should plan accordingly. - 3

The Story and the City
Why hello everyone! How you doing? Welcome to my first ever CJ!Yeah, yeah I know your amazed but just calm down for a second Im not so good with stories but I'll try my best. In the year 2017(yeah,that early) The restoration of Earth began,Our planet started to be destroyed by natural disasters as nature was taking back control of the planet(Somewhat like the movie 2012). The event was named The Great Restoration (I know Im not good with names). This event caused most of our cities to be destroyed and left in pieces along with humanity itself. After a full year of endless diasters things got quiet, real quiet. Our cities were gone and most of countries were merged together once again creating a super continent,.But humanity wasn't completly doomed. Some survivors still existed most of which where French. They formed together and created the Republic of New France. As they travelled through France.I mean NEW France they arrived in what was the the remainings of Paris. I mean it wasn't that bad. Some of the city still existed, but the land was formed diffrently, with the Arc De Triomphe badly damaged and the base of the Eiffel Tower still existing the republic decided to start rebuilding humanity here,so they did. 1000 years later,Here is the new city now referred as New France City. Enjoy! The Central Station of the city.Don't have a name for it so you can come up with it! This part of the city is the Business District,it was inspire from the La defense which lined up to the Arc de Triomphe but with the Grande Arche instead. Some photos of the city at night. Also,A hand of aplause to Airman for making me some of the automata seen in these photos. If you enjoyed don't forget to like and subscri...wait this isn't Youtube? But If you really did enjoy my first and probably last CJ because I don't have any other cities write a comment of some sort like"that duck looked amazing in the last picture". Thanks for stoping by! Zenebach
Welcome to Zenebach, a beautiful alpine city nestled in the heart of Neu Westfalen Population: 525,711 Zenebach is the capital of the state of Zeddenick, and the third largest city in Neu Westfalen. A city of just over half a million inhabitants, it lies along the western spine of Neu Westfalen's alpine divide. located along the southern bank of Lake Evehalden, Zenebach has long been a magnet for international tourists.
Zenebach in Neu Westfalen, also shown is the capital Evelstadt.
The city's iconic water fountain.
You may remember Voss Arena from the 2014 AINVision held in the city, this 15,000 seat arena is also a newer addition to the city having been completed in 2010. The adjacent marina has existed since the city's founding in 1882 and serves as the largest mooring on the large alpine lake. Several smaller marinas have since sprung-up around the lake's inlet, reflecting a growth in the popularity of boating and water pursuits in the region.
An old park and church located next to Arena Zeddenick and it's training grounds. A large parking garage and adjacent light-rail also serve the stadium and sounding areas.
The old Germanic bridge still crosses the river that feeds the lake. It is a popular spot for tourists to take photos and 'selfies'.
Zenebach's city park is a significant area of greenery that serves as a relaxation/break spot for the busy employees of the surrounding downtown area. Underneath it lies the large parking complex of the Alverna Spire.
The city council building (with the blue, glass roof) sits parallel to the downtown marina.
The historic quarter is home to Zenebach's oldest church, musical and movie theaters. But still blends in seamlessly with downtown's newer structures.
Central park is a sprawling area surrounding a large natural lake, it also functions as a barrier between the noisy city center and the residential buildings on the opposite side. The city's main library can found just below it.
Some outer suburbs, small shops and manufacturing facilities.
(Below) The Zeddenick State parliament building (center, parallel to the river) and HSR terminus (the large blue glass building below it).
A small business and industrial zone on the other side of the river.
(Above) The city's outer limits. (Below) A polytechnic university and convention center. The park strip in the middle divides the apartment blocks from the suburban houses.
Zenebach University, sports facilities and surrounding dormitories.
A bridge spans the entrance to the lake inlet. The large forest acts as a wind-break between the (sometimes very cold) lake breezes and the inner-city. Likewise the sheltered beaches it creates become excellent summer bathing spots.
Some overviews of the city.
Zenebach at night, I will make some more night-time images at a later date too. That's it for now, I hope you like Zenebach. -

Chapter 3
The Story of Englewood Chapter 3 On the night of April 4th 1784, the plan to construct a lighthouse in Englewood was approved. Due to the large number of shipwrecks in the foggy Chester Bay, a lighthouse was considered necessary in order to prevent any future wrecks. Other important meetings were happening around the same time as well about the future of Englewood and the English colony of Aurylia. Meetings about the flag, anthem and other patriotic things were being discussed. On May the 11th 1787, construction of the Pierres Noirs (Black Rocks) lighthouse was complete. This is a photo of the Enlgewood region in 1787. As you can see, agriculture was a very large part of the workforce. That's all for today, stay tuned for more! -

Contrasts
@Tonraq: Overwhelming, isn't it? @Jorge_carrillo: ¡Gracias! @jmsepe: Actually, the condo is quite near the "center", but I took the pic with the sea as a background. Thanks for commenting! @Schulmanator: Thank you very much! @Fox: Thanks, many thanks! Today I'm showing more Al-Qurayyah love! @NielsC007: Thanks for commenting! @slickbg56: Yeah, when I saw this building uploaded, I inmediately thought it had something quite unique, something that deserved a CJ update! And I looked hard for a nice spot for it in Al-Qurayyah... @Benedict: Thank you much for your support! @Ace<3: Thank you! @Sexysark:P: Thanks! Saying Al-Qurayyah is a city, a nation of contrasts, is saying nothing new. All you find here are contrasts. Dark-coloured skyscrapers, well equipped with kilowatts of AC inside, contrast with the traditional light coloured Emirati constructions. The slums and the Olympic City are separated only by Wide Beach... Top models in bikini sipping Cosmopolitans on the Mandarin Oriental rooms, elderly women attending to the prayer at the Old Mosque. Mom and pop stores still survive on the city center, with the always constant pressure of real estate dealers, You never know if tomorrow your business will be demolished to allow room for another skyscraper. The official seat of the government of Al-Qurayyah rises among modest buildings and low single houses. Massive container and oil vessels need to pass through the Strait of Al-Qurayyah, same as small wooden fishing boats. The maneuvring through the strait is a very delicate operation, and the largest ships need hours to go through. Other ships need to wait until the strait is cleared before proceeding. ------------------------------------------------- Liked it? Comments and +1s are welcome! - 16

Public Transport in Nieuwezee
So, I saw this picture (below) in der Nieuwezee Nieuws, and it inspired me to write about public transport in our town. Don't worry, nobody was badly hurt - and the buses here usually run without crashing into bus-shelters! So, you know that Nieuwezee always had the one old tram-line, running from the Old Town to the Peninsula... then extended to the Harbour in the 60's/70's. And when they built the Oosterpolder, a second tram-line was extended to cover that district. The second line saw brand-new trams introduced to the city. Here's a crowd of spectators trying to board Tram 2 at the Oosterpolderplein on the first day of service: Our new trams are much more comfortable and spacious than the old ones from the 1960's. I'm not sure I like the new red-and-blue colour scheme, though. I think it's supposed to represent the colours of the Dutch flag, or something... There's no denying it though, they're better than our old yellow trams. They were noisy, and draughty... :/ So that's Nieuwezee's trams. Well, we also have a number of bus lines! Some of these are old, traditional routes that have stayed the same since the early 20th century. But the latest routes, have only been added since the Oosterpolder development and the construction of the Biotech Campus across the river: Here's the new campus, and you can see four types of Nieuwezee public transport in one shot. At the top of the image, a Regiorunner 'Verm' double-decker train is heading towards the station in the Old Town. Near the centre, you can see one of the University's yellow mini-buses parked outside the Student Union building... The campus provides its own private 'on demand' transport for students and staff. To the left, you can see a tram approaching the Campus tram stop, which links to Tram Line 1 via a short spur (approx. 750m). And to the top right, you can see a 'bendy bus' pulling away from the stop at Westerhuizen Rotonde. A tree-lined walkway links the bus-stop to the campus. If you're curious, here's a route map which shows how everything hangs together in Nieuwezee: And if that wasn't exciting enough (!), look at this: It's one of our brand-new bi-articulated trolley-buses! The council have been electrifying the bus routes between the Old Town and Oosterpolder, now routes 10 and 11 are (mostly!) run by trolley-buses. They're almost like trams without the tracks. "So why are there tram-tracks in this picture?" you may ask! Well, this is the corner of the Poldergracht where the no.11 bus turns across Tram-line 1. See it on the map? All-in-all I'd say that public transport runs very well in Nieuwezee; with all these modern trams and buses it's better than it ever was, and we have excellent connection to nearby cities like Amsterdam and Hoorn. But now the authorities want to take things 'to the next level'. Oosterpolder has brought new wealth to Nieuwezee, and the Bio-tech Campus is encouraging expansion towards the South-west of town. As a result, the regional government is seriously considering changing our town's status into a City, and real money may be thrown at stages 4-5 of our Strategic Development Plan. This would mean bringing High Speed Rail to the city, and zoning for even more development in future. So, it looks like Nieuwezee's adventures in public transport are only beginning! -

Holiday Time! A trip to the quiet countryside
A new update, a year after my last CJ-entry! Sorry it took so long Click on the images to enlarge them. “All the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey” We're going to leave the city, the stress, and the concrete today. We take the highway and drive until the end of the road. We enter the highway in Zuidmonde, and we leave the industry and pollution behind. After a few miles, we arrive at the interchange in the sleepy town of Heuvelland. We take the calm highway to Wendt. The government of Vloesem has modernized the electrical grid, in recent years, and made electricity production greener. Wind turbines like these can now be found everywhere in the country. Baaiegem is the last town with more than 5000 inhabitants we pass. The local interchange has been improved to handle the traffic. While we approach the end of the highway, the landscape becomes more and more empty... Everything has an end, and so does this highway. We take the national road to Heule. Heule is the last town on the peninsula, this is the only road you can take to get there. In case of heavy snowfall, the small town is isolated during winter. The road ends here. Arrived at our destination! Let's enjoy the beauty of autumn. I hope you enjoyed his entry, if so, please comment and give me a thumbs up! Thanks! - 6

It pleases your overloads that you take such an initiative ______________________________________ Note: So this is Jericho. I liked the name so I called it Jericho. 3 versions, and this was the final. Also, this is a teaser update. I'm converting one of my functional towns into a disastrous dieselpunk nightmare. Selbri-fying it if you may And if you noticed, I'm playing around with Selbring's logo. Going with the times by making it minimalist. EDIT - Image URL directories repaired. Stupid Brickshelf. :/ ______________________________________ Welcome to the small town of Jericho. This 'cute' little town lies along the boundaries of Selbring County and Tattnall County and is owned by the illustrious Vandana Industries. While this township is mostly ghetto territory, a number of factories and manufacturing plants dot the small countryside backwater. It's populated by thousands of working-class residents, most too normalized and integrated into the Selbrinian Propaganda network to resist the system. Let's explore more of the town. The PWA says its the pride of Tattnall! - 26

Downtown Rockport
Hi, in this entry, we will go over the beautiful, historic CBD of Rockport. The CBD as well as the entire region of Rockport was heavily inspired by medium sized maritime cities such as Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Very dense, old buildings, narrow roads, lots of W2W buildings and very few parking spots. A few overviews of the downtown core The Burton Bridge, the northernmost bridge was constructed in 1898 and served as the only way to cross the South Rocky River other than by boat until 1986. The newer and far larger Coverdale Bridge was constructed in 1985 and opened that following year. It is also the beginning of the H-30 highway, passing near the downtown core, into the city of Burton and heading east. The Rockport City Hall was constructed in 1852 and still serves as the city hall today! Another key landmark of Rockport is the Richmond Stadium, home of the Rockport Lumberjacks, an Aurylian - Country Rockport is located in - hockey team. The stadium can fit 10,000 people. The Oswell Park can be seen as well as the main rail terminal in Rockport. Stratford Street, the street going horizontally, as well as Casey and Piers Street, the two going vertically is part of the infamous Uptown District as the locals call it. It is dotted with clubs, bars restaurants, and small shops. It's a popular spot for the younger crowd who are looking for a good time. A bit north on Casey St. you will find many small and medium sized businesses inside very old buildings. The main Rockport Library on the right and the old Post Office on the right. Both were constructed in 1867. The Rockport Convention Centre. Built in 2003, hosted hundreds of events since. Government buildings. Small shops in the Updown District. The Aurylian Dominion Bank, the dark blue building is the tallest in Rockport at 30 stories tall. Well, that's all I got for now! Thanks for viewing and let me know what you think! Stay tuned for more! -

Helsinki / Salton Bay North
Greetings from Scotland! Here is another work in progress. It is in my Lisanroe region, but this particular city is HEAVILY inspired by Helsinki, the Capital of Finland. Most of my cities start life as a train station and in this corner of my region, I wanted a coastal city, so I plonked Helsinki train station and things escalated quickly until I had recreated a portion of Helsinki's city centre. That's all there is to it, thanks to Krio and many others for the excellent content. I used streetview and google earth to help pick the most suitable buildings and I've tried to avoid repetition so far. A full replication of Helsinki is not feasible because the streets run in many weird angles and there are not always suitable buildings for everything you want to create, so any further progress will be a condensed and re-imagined version of the city. Full size images are available by clicking on them, enjoy! The central station area. I have tweaked a few lots in the editor to enhance the realism and fill in some of the gaps: ___________________________________________________ _________________________________ Some of the central shopping streets, with pedestrianised zones and tramways: ________________________________ This is the first major deviation from real life Helsinki. In reality, the city continues south of the park, but I have decided to have the shoreline here instead (because this is at the edge of my region, and I can't be bothered creating the entire city! ________________________________________ The shoreline park at another angle: __________________________________ And finally, an overview of the work completed so far: _______________________________ Thanks for the encouraging comments from the last journal. As I've said, this in not a full recreation and I've taken many creative liberties to make it fit with the game's parameters and my region as a whole, so if I have upset any Finnish people by flooding your neighborhood or getting the colour of your house wrong, well too bad - 3

The Interior of Shakovisk
The Interior of Shakovisk In the interior of Shakovisk, it is not difficult to find large farms and farming communities, encouraged by the Central People's Government and the creation of the Post-War Economic Policy (PWEP) of Shakovisk, created just after the Soviet evacuation and end of the Second World War. The Shakovisk fields serve the population and maintains a solid base from the last part of PEPG, but there are still labor abuses at times gets to be slave labor, which deeply hurts the socialist society preaches. Today we will know the cities of Marks, Deven and Sudestek, all in the South of Shakovisk, where agriculture and large plantations are more abundant, but also where the climate is suitable for food production. In cities can also be noted large Soviet monuments in honor of the Soviet Union for helping in the reconstruction and structuring Shakovisk, which would enter the Warsaw Pact. - 3

Metal Magic
Metal Magic The Most Magical Metal ... EVAR! Today we take a look at my first entry ... Metal Magic. This is a city I designed for a Reddit Region, with host Queost (the goal was to invite Redditers to come in and share their stuff, and then join Queost for a video to share their thinking, their reasoning, and their designs. In typical Regional play fashion though, half the people left after an hour of play (if that). Here's your shoutout Queost!) Metal Magic was once a quaint village by the name of Chicken Crossing, due to the large amount of chickens which were sent across the main highway to be processed in factories of neighboring towns. In many ways, Chicken Crossing was barely a subburb of the much larger cities neighboring nearby, especially the regional hub city of "HQ central" (mayor: MayorEMP). Though it started as merely a small village, it quickly grew into a small town quickly grew, it became a center of learning for the region's smartest and brightest. This required a major diversion of the main highway to loop around the back of the University of Magic Metal, and become sunken below the ground level. *Here's we see Route 216, the "Chicken Highway", as it stands today. It use to be filled with only trucks freighting in chickens to be chopped up in the other town's factories in the region. Today, it has been re-routed and sunken to accommodate the construction of UMM No one questioned why a university was being built in such a small town, nor how it was funded, and only a few in city hall knew that it was thanks largely to donations by the word renown Metals Inc. Prospectors discovered ore and coal very early on, and plans were laid long before the highway diversion or the university broke ground. Metals inc. and the mayor planned to turn Chicken Crossing into a hub for Metal production for the region. As the highway near completion, ground was broken on 3 key projects. First was the University, which had yet to be named. Next was a pair of mines, one for ore, and one for coal. Last was the city hall, and with it, the village was renamed into the township of Metal Magic. *Apartment buildings began to spring up (above), and once Metals Inc. established their HQ (below), a small business district soon followed. As the mines and university grew, residents quickly multiplied, and small apartment complexes soon followed. The river was bridges, industry flourished, businesses grew, and soon, Metals Inc. moved an illustrious HQ into the young city. The tower soon rose prominent above all other town buildings, and Smelting factories were established across the river in the bustling industrial sector of town. *As the cities port grew, the traffic along the Reddit River quickly congested with cargo ships, passenger ferries, and eventually cruise ships (above)! This city could even be mistaken for a small metropolis when views from the steps of city hall on a busy day (below) It soon became apparent that transportation of goods needed much more than just trucks. Soon, Ports were added, ferry docks, Freight Train terminals, and Passenger stations. The city's infastructure was so great that it was able to support the raw materials necessary to build the region's greatest work - The Arcology! *Here we see some of the town's main smelting factories, and across the river, the mighty Metals HQ seems to rise higher than the eye can see, but may soon be rivaled by the great Arcology building in the distance!. With the city full and bustling, it wasn't long before Tourists flocked to visit the famous Magic Theater, where all the best magic acts of the region would play, along with the old windmill, a quaint reminder of quieter times when chickens in trucks zoomed fields of wheat and corn. Fancy futuristic buildings began to spring up as well when Agents of OmegaCo began shipping in their mysterious substance from some of the larger metros nearby. *The City's famous Magic Theater (above), began attracting tourists along with the old Windmill (below). The tourists weren't the only ones who came in from neighboring metros, as the wonders and technology of OmegaCo soon followed! Thank You for visiting Metal Magic, the first submission in MagicChicken19's city journals. 4. Traffic Issues - Part I
4. Traffic Issues - Part I Due to the massive growth of population in Stottlands, citizens have reported serious traffic issues in the last weeks. As you can see, the Green Hills neighborhood has become one of the most affected areas and they have all kinds of public transportation so... I wonder what I can do to solve this - 4

"Black Gold"
After the collapse of global oil prices, nations and oil companies were at the edge of bankruptcy. The oil reliant Kingdoms in the Middle East and the decreased profits of oil companies caused an international meeting to take place and the formulation of the "Black Gold" plan. It fuelled a coup of three Middle Eastern states and encompassed them to creating one state which would combine their oil production to be reduced. According to the plan, this would reduce supply and increase the price of oil. Pushed through the UN at an alarming place, the region was declared an "International Colony" and in the mandate of the New Nation State Committee (NNSC), a group of representatives from organisations and nations which so happened to be the ones who orchestrated the Black Gold plan. The plan quickly showed results. Not only did the International Colony help increase the prices of oil, its military capacity allowed it to undertake a global foreign policy, aimed at controlling a small region which was mineral-rich in Africa. The brutal colonial policies caused global outcry and led to the overthrow of the International Colony in Africa. This begun the decline of the once great power. With corruption rampant and people tired of the monopolistic ways of the International Colony, a revolution ensued against the Government of the International Colony and its people. The deadly war cost the lives of over 1 million people and nearly a trillion dollars worth of damage. The people however won. They overthrew the puppet government and established their own government, named the "New Republic". Thus the dry and dusty sands of the Middle East will see the rise of once the great power again. Learning the Ropes
So I've been a fan of SimCity since the grand old days of yore, otherwise known as the 1990's. SimCity2000 was a revolution to me, and I spent long nights building my cities. I was so into it, I even purchased the SC2000 strategy guide and read it cover to cover. Around 2012, I purchased SimCity4 off when the Origin website was running a sale. I installed it, played a few times, then promptly forgot about it. After several years away from the game, I recently rediscovered SimCity at the end of 2014. I got back into playing the game, and went online to see what fabulous new strategies existed, since SC4 was much more intense than my previous SC2000 experience. How surprised was I to find out that SC4 could not only be modded, but there was still a thriving online following for the game! After much exploring and reading about the mods available, I tried out a few and was pleasantly surprised. These game modders really improved the game and took it much further than Maxis ever had. I promptly installed the much-touted NAM (Network Add-on Mod) and RHW (Real Highway) mods. Now here was a brand new challenge set before me--mastering the intricacies of building highways and making the Sims use them! After a lot of frustration, demolishing, and rebuilding, I managed to build a decent size city of 150K Sims with a working ring highway. Then I explored adding in railway lines to compliment the highway, and my Sims loved the train. So many possibilities! (I still remembered the days when building a railway in SC2000 would all but bankrupt your city, and few if any Sims cared to use it.) With the NAM and RHW conquered, I moved on to try out differing garbage solution mods, anti-pollution mods, and modified power plants. So much power! So many praises for my SimMayor! I was thrilled when my cities were becoming large enough in population for brand new, never-before-seen buildings to pop up. But it wasn't enough...just look at all these blasé Maxis buildings. Another Posh Villa? *yawn* Here comes still one more JEK Equestrian Marketplace? *shakes head* What ELSE can I do to my game? Then I discovered the vast array of BATs--custom build buildings. And then came the barrage of buildings from my favorite place in the world--Paris! Could it be possible that people were actually recreating entire real-life cities within SimCity? Why, yes, it was not just possible but really happening! And so I started collecting all the possible bits and pieces to recreate my own Sim version of my favorite city. The list of BATs and mods is long and exhausting. I soon found that for every BAT, there were 1-2, if not 10, required "dependencies", or files to make the BATs render properly. So far, I have installed a wonderful Paris map by drunkenapple, and several residential/commercial buildings. I decided to start my city in the heart of Paris--the Ile de Cité--and build outwards. I quickly found out that Paris is oriented in such a way that nearly all the buildings and streets sit on a diagonal. So began my adventures with diagonal streets and FAR - fractionally angled roads. I built a very small part of the Ile, and plopped the pretty Sainte Chapelle (just for kicks). Now I'm gathering further BATs, installing dependencies and working on keeping all of this mish-mash of files organized. It's a very small start, but so much fun! -

60. Coastal Waterfalls
60. Coastal Waterfalls Welcome back, folks. This time we head to the coastal road (highway 1) running north of town. 1. Houses and farms on the north side of town 2. More houses and a farm to the north. Traveling further we find the forest coming all the way down to the shore. 3. Highway 1 crosses several small creeks falling off the surrounding hills. 4. The first creek 5. The second has a little fancier bridge 6. The third one adjoins a marshy estuary. 7. The marsh 8. After the estuary is a line of shore cliffs with homes on the top. 9. Time on the beach. 10. The marsh and area in fall. 11. And the tile in full. I'm not sure what i'll have next since i have a lot of half complete stuff, so it will probably be at least 2 weeks before the next update. ~cheers. @SylvioGeorge, mymyjp, sexysark, JP Schriefer, Militant Radical, NeilsC007, dabadon5: Thanks a lot for your comments! @LnX: lol no you don't. I really did a terrible job on that one: i got frustrated with it and didn't finish it. If you really want to see it there is a pic on this CJ at simpeg, top of page 41. @slickbg: thanks! i just copy what i see on the coasts here. I think a lot of it has to do with the piles of driftwood tossed up at the stormline just above high tide mark. I don't see that in a lot of sc4 beaches. @jmsepe: The terrain is Gobias' sunken valley, along with his Vancouver Island beach mod and Inside Passage water mod, with my own custom tweaking of the water alpha using reader. All are available on the LEX. @Kisa Atsuko: I have 8Gigs of ram, a 64bit OS, and the memory patch applied to sc4, and this is near to the maximum my PC can handle. With those specs it can fully run a 96x120km region (this is 88x120). The max i've gotten it to actually open is 112x120, but at that size it barely runs. I doubt 6 gigs of ram or less would actually run this region. @sucram17: lol i love that .gif @indecisive_compulsive: all my cities are functional (they have to be to get residentials to grow). I don't use any 'cheats' per se, but i use a heavy variety of mods that effect gameplay in ways that some people would probably consider 'cheating'. Some of these are somewhat neccessary since maxis never finished out and balanced some aspects of the gameplay, such as farm behavior and traffic. That said, 'cheating' if i had to wouldn't bother me at all, because after you've played this game long enough you've already beaten ever aspect of the simulator. At that point the simulation becomes largely irrelevant, because you've been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Then the game just becomes a tool for creating art, and how you modify that tool once you've mastered it doesn't detract from what you create. @whiteyboybob: Thank you! Yeah, i know about the farms. The thing is these tiles are very quick filler tiles to start off demand in my region, meaning i only spend a few hours on each just to get it done quickly. If it were a more detailed tile, like inner cities and ports where i spend 20+ hours on it i would take care of all those little realism details. Since these last few updates have been from filler tiles im content to just take whatever grows. - 60
