Region name: coming soon. "Suggestions Welcome" Map link: The actual journal will begin with entry #2 but i want to show its growth first and explain why it looks the way it does now. Unfortunately such a huge region requires a huge wall of text to explain so I apologize in advance but I did add a few pics if it helps. I didn’t want to bombard you guys with so much so fast but here goes… My vision for this journal is to show a fully functioning region with big cities, suburbs, and small towns from the start while still resembling the original game but on a much larger scale. If this were a paint job I would consider this stage to be the primer before the paint. Once the region is large enough I want to wipe my mind clean of any care I had for the region and everything will be on the table for demolition…even entire downtown areas. Who else freaked out when they saw the christmas snow the developers left us? I know I did!!!! As I build I hope to show a transformation over time as the region is built out and remodeled with all the wonderful mods offered by the community. My main focus though will be the region growth and not so much on the cities themselves but I will strive for as much realism as possible given that the scale of the buildings vs the map, restricts city layouts greatly. Basically I'm going to be building this thing twice. Imagine a downtown with simple avenues getting upgraded with the newer road systems available. Entire blocks will be redone allowing room for the newer and wider road and transit systems. I always keep in mind that everything I build will be upgraded or demolished to make room for the new. I feel this reflects real life pretty well as cities over time have changed drastically going from plain Jane to masterpieces over time. Our plan for the region is to lay a footprint for each city using mostly what maxis provides us out of the box. I want to build a functional region first, focusing only on the Nam’s capabilities and how much further people are willing to commute to work. Against my advisers daily warnings I want to spread each city out as much as possible using the stock streets and roads before building upwards. The original road layouts and neighborhoods will look outdated and a lot of them will be replaced. We could cut an entire residential area in half with a modern highway system forcing the area to transform around the new infrastructure effectively moving downtown areas which happened all over the country when our real highway system was authorized in 1956 and completed 35 years later. Dallas I have to use modded civic buildings to achieve such spread which is the only reason I'm even using them this early. Really the only mods being utilized right now is The Nam, civic buildings and a different water texture “to make the region view look better”. This is all for function as that’s my only priority right now. Once the region gets to the point of being a functional country I’m going to essentially start over with what I have and grow the region from there adding mods as I go. That will be the beginning of my mayor journal. Cleveland I have a great amount of respect for everyone here that makes these beautiful cities with all the amazing mods available. They are truly artwork. I consider myself more of an engineer than an artist though but will do my best to make things look as good as possible given the amount of time it takes just to speed build a single maxis road from coast to coast. It took months just to get a road across this map as I refuse to build roads without zones along them plus I either use a single or triple spacing between each zone at the beginning which takes even longer as I’m not just dragging out huge lines of zones. My focus from the beginning has always been sheer size and scale of the region along with function. LA will be in the valley, but I didnt want to ruin the mountains trying to build a city there. The scale isnt right and LA must be huge. It’s a very difficult process for me to balance growth vs looking good as I want everything to look good while its being built but must sacrifice looks for speed with so much ground to cover. There are 58 large city tiles along my original route across the country. This is from Maine down the east coast to Miami, then along the gulf coast to the Mexican border. From there it follows the Mexican border “somewhat” and connects LA then stretches up the west coast to the Canadian border. Every residential zone is either single or triple spaced apart and is only 1x2 in most cases. Commercial and industrial zones are only 2x2 and are spread out unless its at a crossroads. Miami I do have a lot of CAM enabled lots installed but they wont appear until demand calls for them. I’m not plopping anything at this stage unless it must be plopped, like landmarks, civic, utilities, transportation and things like that. The great demand for jobs has caused a few Cam industrial lots to appear already though. I thought about using different trees and terrain mods but didn’t want to change to much to soon. I'm not sure if it would be safe to start using a tree controller or slope and terrain mod at this point but if you guys think it possible and not to time consuming or risky I’m open to it. I kind of like the maxis trees while building nothing but low density but I will want to add the nicer ones once the transformation begins. Merging stock vs modded will be interesting and may not come out the best but I'm going to try. oops...wrong decade To be honest with everyone I started this region as my own personal revolt to the new restrictive map sizes in the new version. I thought, lets see just how big of a region we can make using SimCity 4 and once it started growing I thought I would try and show everyone its progress. Oh and the pics im using on this thread are just random pics I have out of over 800 now in my steam library. Im just throwing them out there in no real order just as a preview of the region as it grows. Thank you for the advise everyone. Please keep it coming as I have a lot to learn about using all the mods I have installed.

Akashima, January 10 2015 From: Konae Fumiko (@fmkko45) To: Miyazawa Mizuki (@mizukimiya930) Hey how are you? its already very cold here lately in Akashima, we have plenty snowfall earlier this month. I think Shinkyo have better temperature than here since it located more to the north. Anyway I still in new year holiday now, school start at next Monday so well its the end of my holiday here hahaha..... I just remembered when we still in elementary school in Shinkyo, before my family move due to my father task. do you still remembered when we play in snow winter until it was dark already... what a memory lol. Oh btw I just moved into a new house, but still not far from the apartment we rent beforehand. I can still see it everyday when going to school or downton. How is your holiday? what are you doing in new year? I had plenty boring holiday maybe in my opinion, being trapped in the house all since the holiday started XD... However I got a good new year, going around the city watching the countdown, you know there is some firework too here in this city but not as big as previous year since we still recovering from the disaster 5 month ago. 5 months ago the earthquake was very hardly hit my place here, thank god me and my family here okay and safe since we live in northern part of Akashima which barely affected by earthquake. There are some minor damage around my area here like some glass broke but thankfully nothing badly damaged. But too bad with what happened in the south. I have some friend which affected badly with the earthquake, it's so sad to heard the story though. I can't even imagine how people in southern part of city when the disaster happened, too scary, I just can send pray to them. I hope this horrible disaster won't happened anymore here and anywhere else. Anyway lets now wake up as the city begun to rebuild. Yesterday I can see how the city recover. There were many major redevelopment around the city. It's really incredible how fast the city recovered from the disaster. Let's talk about other thing now, guess what? I have tried the new train in this city, well it's actually the same usual route to the school but it has new cabs. I like the new one design, or maybe just because its new hahahaha.. Anyway thats all I want to write now. I want to heard about your story too in Shinkyo, reply my email as soon as possible okay. ヾ(@^▽^@)ノ your friend in Akashima Konae Fumiko +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ Author note: - I'm new to this kind of updates so I suggestion and critics are very welcome here. - the email address is fake (obviously lol)
  6. Greetings! As pretty much everything is still under construction, I thought I'd show you a small collection of interchanges. Highways/Freeways/Motorways seem to be quite popular on this forum. The express road network in Wermland consists of Expressautobahnen, abbreviated as EAB. They are all under the administration of the Federal Ministry of Transportation (Bundesministerium für Verkehr). 2,0 An urban "Anschlussstelle" (German: Connection Area) in the special ward of Yannick. It could also be referred to as an Autobahnkreuz (German: Motorway Crossing). This motorway is part of the City Ring in the Capital Region. 2,1 The large Autobahnkreuz of Yannick, this interchange marks the start of the EAB towards the new international airport and Nordland. The other two "arms" belong to the City Ring. 2,2 Urban Development along the City Ring in Yannick. Due to lack of space, a lot of residential areas have to be built next to the autobahn itself. Sound walls are added as protection against noise. This particular particular strip has six lanes because it is close to a entry/exit point. Usually the autobahnen in Wermland only have four lanes due to lack of space. 2,3 The "Dreieck" (German: Triangle) is the most common form of interchanges in Wermland. This one is located in Takeda-Shi, Midland and forms the lower part of the City Ring in the Capital Region. 2,4 A major interchange located in the suburbs of West-Carlstadt prefecture, Midland. This junction is the crossing of the Autobahn towards the airport and the City Ring. 2,5 This interchange connects the eastern suburbs, the new international airport and the state Lestaria. It is located in the city centre of Nico. The city hall is the building on the left side. A future densely populated urban area, hence the many sound walls and little space. It is the most compact four-way interchange in the country. 2,6 An "Anschlussstelle" in the suburbs of Carstadt, also located in Nico prefecture. Due to low visibility (due to lack of space), on and off ramps play a vital role in such areas, they are usually very long which enables a safe exit and entry. 2,7 An Anschlussstelle in Goetheburg. The messy network here is a product of a large seaport, hilly terrain and a narrow land area towards the sea. 2,8 Sometimes the interchanges get interesting forms in urban areas and where land is scarce. This is the junction at the port of Yannick, part of the City Ring. Next time I will post built up enviroment! 2,9 Current overview of the Capital Region. All the Mayor names ending with "Von Carlstadt" belong to the Capital Region, and represent the nine Special Wards. As you can see, there is still a massive amount of work left, and I name every school, street, park, hospital etc., to make the areas more unique, so it takes a bit of time. Thank you for taking your time! / Johan
  7. Thanks! well it mostly made by LRM mod which cames from Japanese streetside mod but I also add some photoshop Thanks! Thanks! use LRM mod Yes, Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! (The first place most travelers see, after getting off their train) Welcome, welcome to Gwaanjyut! Gwaanjyut (Written in Hanzi as 関越, pronounced Gwaanjyut in Cantonese and Guanyue in Mandarin), is a (100% frictional) city located in the hilly part of South China. The city sits in a basin, on the flat land between north bank of the Saigong(西江, 'Great river of the west') and the Sengwu(星湖, 'Lake of Stars'). The mountains which surround the basin offer not only refreshing views for the citizens, but also perfect locations for tea fields that yield tea leaves of a fine quality. As a major stop on the route from Gwongzau (廣州, Guangzhou in Mandarin, a.k.a. Canton), the central city of the region, to other major cities to the west, Gwaanjyut's economy had benefited from the merchants passing by. Construction of the Jyutsai Railway Line (粵西線, 'West Jyut Line') further boosted local economy and shortened the traveling time from downtown Gwongzau to Gwaanjyut down to less than an hour. In recent years, Gwaanjyut had became a popular place for young people to settle, due to the low rent compared to Gwongzau and good proximity to the nearby metropolis. As a result, various art galleries, independent bookstores and music studios mushroomed in this tiny yet elegant city. Oh, by the way, in Gwaanjyut, punched cards are still what most computers uses to interact with the world. And that's all for this introduction. Enjoy your time here

HELL IN THE PACIFIC On December 7th 1941, the tranquil paradise of Hawai'i was shattered. A surprise Japanese attack on the island of O'ahu and the fleet at Pear Harbor was caused for one of the most devastating defeat in US military history. ''A date which will live in infamy- the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan'' [...] Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the United States later announced that day. Simultaneously, the Imperial Japanese Navy would attack Hong Kong, the Philippines, the Islands of Guam and Wake and would attack Midway a few hours later. World War II just extended to the Pacific theater. (note: this part is fictional, most names are real though) After a series of victories that were the result of a surprise offensive undertaken by the Japanese forces in the Pacific, the Caroline Islands, an American Protectorate, would fall to the hands of the armies of the Rising Sun. During almost 2 years, the Japanese would impose chaos and fear in that once-thriving Pacific nation composed of hundreds of small islands and atolls. November 20, 1943: Operation Typhoon was launched. US battleships, destroyers and aircraft carriers launched a major assault on the atolls of Rabaul and Tarawa in the Caroline Islands to take control of this strategic point in the South Pacific. The objective was to destroy the Japanese coastal defenses in Tarawa and seize control of Peleliu airfield in Rabaul. US fleet firing at Japanese positions prior to the landing of US Marines US Marines landing at Kirimati beach in the Tarawa atoll US fighters destroying Japanese aircraft at Peleliu airfield, Rabaul Island

  9. Happy New Year from Oketockee, Florida! Locals and tourists of the city are enjoying a fun night of New Year's Eve festivities around Oketockee. With a temperature of 55 degrees and calm winds, many people will flock to the shores of Oketockee Harbor to watch the annual firework display. Many residents will celebrate on their boats and set anchor in the Oketockee Harbor, Butler Creek, and other waterways to view the annual firework display. In addition some of the gated communities have their own celebrations and smaller fireworks centered around the community marinas and clubhouses. Tourist Info Picture: One of the many firework displays from Oketockee in 2014. For those new to Oketockee, the best places to watch the fireworks are from the Bob's Landing are of the city and from the campus of Oketockee State College and University Beach. The Bob's Landing area of the city includes many popular night spots, restaurants, and hotels. The University Beach area is popular with families and is usually less rowdy than Bob's Landing. Many people bring blankets and lawn chairs and set them up in the soft sand of the beach or on the park-like campus of Oketockee State College. Picture: Bob's Landing ready to celebrate 2015. Picture: The University Beach neighborhood is a popular, family-friendly firework viewing spot. Transportation The Cove County Transit will be running CCT Rail and CCT Bus Rapid Transit routes on rush hour schedules until 3:00AM. CCT Water Taxis will also run on rush hour schedules but riders should expect route changes and minor delays due to the Cove County Sheriff's Department and US Coast Guard parameter around the firework barges as well as expanded no-wake zones. CCT recommends riders use the Zoo Station and Barracuda Blvd Station to access the Bob's Landing area. CCT will have extra security and staff on hand at the stations to assists riders and manage the large crowds expected. Public Safety Picture: Cove County Sheriff's Deprt. shut down the Harbor Causeway Bridge in preparations for the fireworks display. As already mentioned, The US Coast Guard has set a boating parameter around the fireworks barges. There is also an expanded no-wake zone covering much of Oketockee Harbor. The Coast Guard and Cove County Sheriff's Department have extra boats patrolling Oketockee's waterways. The Sheriff's Department and Oketockee Police Department has blocked Sunshine Street and Barracuda Ave west of Oketockee Hwy to vehicles in Bob's Landing. Beginning at 10:00 PM, The departments will also close the Harbor Causeway Bridge that carries FL Route 500 over the harbor. Hope everyone has a safe and happy 2015! Happy New Year!!! Also CJ note: I will have the expected update with the detailed tour of the city soon.

Hi everyone! I'm starting a new and my first city journal on my not so new region. I created this save just a few weeks ago at the start of this month. I use a lot of mods in this, including NAM and CAM. This journal is here so I could show people my progress and get feedback from my fellow players. This first entry will be about introducing Jacksonville and its districts. So, here it goes! ========================================================================================================= Jacksonville is currently the only big city in the region. There are three other regions but none of them are as developed. The city sits right on a river with the residential, commercial and civic center on the south side and the industrial, agricultural and the airport on the north side with three bridges and a tunnel connecting the two sides. The Lowerland residential district is made up of medium density residential areas, mixed in with some low density commercial areas to the west of downtown. The district is home to many parks and green spaces and has an elevated rail running through its northern side which makes travel to the central business district easy. The district is also home to the Jacksonville State University and a rail line that connects the city to the rest of the region. Another residential zone in the city is the Riverside District. Just like the Lowerland District, it is made up medium density residential zones with a smaller amount of commercial zones spread about. The district is a thin stretch of land sandwiched between the civic center and the river. Commute time here is short especially because of the close proximity of downtown Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Civic center is located just outside the Central Business District and contains City hall, Jacksonville Central Park, the Police Headquarters, the Justice Hall, the Jacksonville Stock Exchange, The Jacksonville Central Library and Museum, The Jacksonville Community College, and the Jacksonville Advanced Research Center. It is where the Sims can take care of their legal affairs then take a relaxing walk in the park. The Jacksonville Central Business District is home to the region's largest companies. It is located between the Civic Center and the Highway the cuts across the middle of the city. It is made up entirely of high density commercial zones and parks. The elevated rail station at the heart of the district, the sunken rail station in the nearby Highro district and the highway to its south make the district easily accessible by multiple means of transport. The Highro Residential District is made up of High density residential zones with a mix of medium density commercial lots. The district sports a large park in the middle where its residents can spend time to relax. The district's proximity to the Central business district makes it the ideal home for wealthy businessmen who need to get to work on time. The district also has a rail station and a highway, making it easy to get to. The Lower Highro District is a high density residential area, mostly composed of low wealth tenements and a small bit of high wealth buildings due to the neighboring Highro District to the north. Just like its sister district, Lower Highro sports a park in the middle of it and a sunken rail station to its east. The Railborough District is located east of Riverside and north of Highro. It is composed of two sections separated by the rail line, the residential side and the commercial side. The district is where the rail line crosses the river into the industrial side. The Industrial Park used to be made up of High-Tech Industries but now its a haven of pollution. Even the rows of parks and trees between each block couldn't stop the spread of the smog. Aside from the many industrial buildings in the district, It is home to the City's many power plants that provide electricity to Jacksonville. A Subway line running by the river allow easy travelling around the district. The Hampoon District is Currently the southernmost developed area of Jacksonville. It is composed of Medium density Commercial and Residential Zones just like the Riverside District and the Lowerland District. The District is home to many large Parks spread around its area and is also home to The Jacksonville Cultural Center. It is bordered by the sunken rail line to the south and the highway to the north which makes travel to and from the district a breeze. That concludes my first journal entry on Jacksonville. There are more districts in Jacksonville but those ones are not finished yet so I won't be showing them until the next entry about this city. I hope you liked it and if you have any suggestions on what I could do or any tips on how to make Jacksonville even better, just leave a comment below. Byeee! Credits to the mod makers and the people who created BAT's I love them for making Simcity 4 a much better game.
  10. Merry Christmas! The CJ Section Time Machine completed one final task before being put to rest... the compilation of the top 100 for 2010. The top 5 CJs were all favorites to top the chart at some point in the year, but only one can be in the top spot... and, for the second year in a row, the honor goes to Schulmania. Interestingly in 2011 the number 1 and 2 positions were reversed - very impressive for 2 CJs to do so well over the span of 2 years. And as it so often turns out, there were ties at the bottom, giving a final 100+2 for the year.

  12. Hello to you all, I haven't updated in a very long time... But today I'm here to present you a city I made inspired from Paris, hope you enjoy this, and a have a nice Christmas! 13. *Note East Winnebago was originally ment to be a large ghetto, but those plans were changed; when the city of Westminster took that instead of East Winnebago. ----- East Winnebago, a major commercial and tourism zone of the Winnebago Metro. A lot of major hotels and modern skyscrapers, are in this area, oppose of Winnebago's older skyscraper CBD. Part of Downtown, now a major commercial district, highly competitioning Winnebago itself. One time, East Winnebago had a formal downtown, urbanized. Though, as the city boomed suddenly, city planners tore down a lot of Western Downtown, for parks and nature, and allowed skyscrapers to tower around them, but a challenge was; many people didn't sell their land, for parks, but instead, took the higher prices, for developers to buyout their land, and block, to build highrises, and skyscrapers. The tower by the beach, is one of the oldest skyscrapers in E. Winnebago. It's the former, WTO Tower of Winnebago, they have since, moved to Downtown Winnebago itself. It's now a insurance-hotel structure. As its surrounded by modern towers, makes it seem ugly against the skyline. One of the main "central" parks, in E. Winnebago. This area, is where most of historical downtown still stands, urbanized-ish. The city, is trying to preserve this area, the best they can. Another "central" park, of E. Winnebago, in the back of the CBD. Night time, brings life to a major tourism/commercial area. E. Winnebago...

Recife is a large agglomerate of cities that became one city of its own to make things easier. Things aren't that easy, however. The city is divided by a long wall that separates the east coast from the west. Inequality is rampant and only those lucky enough to be born on the east get to live in comfort. Those on the west end up having to live with high crime, inequality and uncertainty. The city is divided by 15 more-or-less autonomous regions that were the previous cities that "came together". For the past 15 years, the division has been in effect, and its consequences are clearly visible. In a country still in development, having such a large city's society being separated could only mean disparaging differences. This City Journal will tell the stories of people living in both sides of Recife. A lot needs to be built, a lot needs to be written, but slowly and surely I will come here with Recife's progress. I hope you like this idea and whatever I build.

  16. Kersanova / Newport / North Cross These three towns saw the first true suburban development of the Reyesville metro area (and indeed the whole nation of Pacific Columbia generally). The cities were planned with the intent of providing a labor force to the (previously yet to be established) city of Newport. North Cross was established as a ferry landing and fishing village on the North Bank of the Lydian River where the [Green Fork] river joined the estuary. It served to connect the north of the country to Reyesville and the inland areas served via Lydian. The small coastal town has since been eclipsed by its industrial presence on the hills to the west and the suburban residential neighborhoods to the north. It is also the site of the new naval docks after the closure of the SoEaDo Naval Station and two others just north of Reyesville. Kersanova is originally a Russian settlement, but little history remains except in the name. Originally 'New Kursk' or Kursknovask, current city signage reflects the contemporary name; though, colloquially it is also known as Kersey. It is characterized by it's high bridges (and tolls) and the bluff overlooking the Lower Green Canyon. Today, the town is mostly a wealthy suburb with most residents commuting by car over the new Lariette Bridge over the Lydian river to Reyesville. Newport is, unsurprisingly, the new port in the region. With the consolidation of port operations and larger ships, the small disparate ports of the Lydian Estuary coast (including Reyseville / SoEaDo) have become obsolete. Furthermore, the advent of the container ship made construction of a new port area a necessity. Rather than improve the ultimately inadequate facilities existing in the region, the national government opted to construct an entirely new port. The port includes a pleasure marina in the far north of the area, and (working down the coast), the first container births (which could accommodate 3 large vesels or up to 5 smaller ones), refined oil storage (which had been exported from the resource rich north, refined, and returned as fuel and other oil products), various break/bulk docks, the auto delivery docks, two births that had been planned a break/bulk but were ultimately abandoned, navy oil dock, and finally the navy docks themselves (the last two actually within the city of North Cross). A very suburban town had developed to the immediate northwest of the port. A new landfill island (shown in the map below) will be used to increase container and inter modal capacity with 5 additional berths. Overview Picture Map:

The Green Square indicates the region map even including all of the non-playable water sim city districts in between. as you can clearly see in this Picture there are no houses for sale right now in the real world version of this sim city Chitmits mountains sim city region. my city planer Neil Fairbanks constantly says things like "four walls and a roof are rare in this city" blah blah blah. i cant even figure out where all of these 42 people that live in Pedro bay actually live using Google or any thing. how am i supposed to build this the real world way if i cant find any of the houseing spots? on the other side of the coin i have a school so at least my education advisor is a little bit happy but my financial adviser is not happy about the school i built.
  19. Note: Some of these images (including the one on the right) are very hi-res. Click on them to experience the hi-res awesomeness! After a long flight and a few stops down the road, we finally arrive to Plantation Bay! We land on a small airport on our private airplane, to one of the biggest cities in the Northern Nations (more on the nations coming up next update) What is Plantation Bay? A state with over 40 million people living in it, and 4 million in the main area (region above). It is the largest city in the South District. Around the lake that divides into two rivers, lies the core of the city: Plantation Metropolis: Highway 175 Going north before turning West. The highway in this image was closed for 1 hour during interchange construction , but despite the lack of traffic shown here, it is a very busy highway. Here's an old 1850s photograph of the same downtown: The city has come a long way since this was once taken. This image holds great significance, as it was taken in an air balloon around 1851, during Plantation Bay's infancy. Surrounding the core, are the suburbs: (Late one afternoon, don't mind the black coffee stain on the left) More Shots of the City and Region: Further West, is the famous Long Shore Island: In this island, only the richest live here. This is where all the mansions are, well away from the noise of the city. Most commute eastward to the CO$$$ offices downtown. Regional Aerial Night Shots: Coming Up next: "Where are we in the World?"
