I began working on this Pub in Bedford, England as it seemed to represent a specific style of Mock Tudor, common in 1930s and 1950s England. Not until I was nearing completion did I realise that it is a landmark, being the longest established gay bar in Britain. Then again, considering the monumental rate at which even high traffic pubs are closing due to the severely adverse tax and regulatory regime that they face in Britain, it is clear that, increasingly, only Specialist pubs, are likely to have much of a chance of survival.- 2 Comments

The Royal Duke was an old pub in Stepney, London, a true cockney watering hole until the redevelopment of the 1970s and 1980s overtook it, and it became surrounded by tower blocks of treuly mediocre design. It became, firstly, a crummy supermarket and, more recently, appears to have been turned into a condo block. The version here tries to reproduce it faithfully as it was during its golden era in 1988-

Once situated on Hammersmith Bridge Road, the Oxford and Cambridge was an Edwardian pub that was run by my great grandfather circa 1903. Sady, it was demoihed in 2008. Unfortunately, the original pub had steep roofs which I was unable to replicate in Buildng Architect, so it is a tad squat compared to the real building.-

Although I have never visited it, I am assured that the Duke of York pub is an archtectural masterpiece. At a time when 18 pubs are closing A DAY in the United Kingdom, the owners spent crazy money to bring in a top team of dedicated architects and interior design consultants to rebuild the interior into beautiful restaurant, true to its Victorian/Edwardian origins to provide fine dining in one of the busiest areas in central London, otherwise dominated by fast food outlets. Why they did this beats me, as, according to numerous online reviews, the Duke of York has become infamous across London for its pricey food and ignorant surly staff. (Took me nearly four days to do this, so I hope you're all happy with it) -

Located on the High Street of Chiddingstone Causeway, immediately opposite Penshurst railway station, this classic English country pub was once known as "The Ralway Hotel". Complete with BBQ at the back, it now serves a wide variety of traditional Engiish cuisine and used to be well known locally for its fine roast potatoes, yet still retains a limited selection of rooms for tourists visiting Kent, "the garden of England"-

The Returned and Services League (RSL), by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- In Australia, RSL clubs are to be found in every large town and suburb. The Returned & Services League is similar to the American Ex-Servicemen's Association or the British Legion Club. The RSL was initially established after WWI to look after the welfare of returned service men and women and their dependents. Although quite conservative, the RSL's mission is to ensure programs are in place for the well-being, care, compensation and commemoration of serving and ex-service Defence Force members and their dependents; and to promote Government and community awareness of the need for a secure, stable and progressive Australia. The Licensed clubs that are so visible throughout Australia (of which this building is one) were formed to provide services and hospitality for war veterans to celebrate the ANZAC spirit and build on their wartime comradeship. Licensed clubs operating under the RSL banner usually have discounted bar and dining facilities for their members and guests, and sometimes have extensive gambling areas. In licensed RSL clubs, each evening at 6 pm "The Ode" is read, followed by one minute's silence to honour those who died serving their country. Profits from these commercial ventures are generally returned via donations to community programs. There are two 5x5 corner lots with this download. Both corners are covered and grow reasonably easily (Use the CTRL Key while zoning to get the correct lot size). As shown by the pictures, each lot has a slightly different car park configuration to give a bit of variety. The building even has a small internal, tree filled courtyard where ANZAC day memorials are held. The Nag's Head Pub, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- This is your typical quaint English style pub, complete with a quaintly unusual name. The 'Nag's Head' is a surprisingly common name for pubs in both the UK and Australia. A 'Nag' in old fashioned parlance simply refers to a horse that has outlived its usefulness and is quite distinct from the modern usage of the word. This Surf Shacks LOT set was made by @paeng and originally was uploaded onto the PLEX (or appeared there as a forum attachment) and hasn't been available according to my best knowledge since then. I made this readme to collect all the dependencies into one place for easier access with updated links. Please note with the permission of the Simtropolis Staff Members (Cori & Cyclone Boom) and Catty-CB, this file has been uploaded on behalf of Paeng. It was not available anymore due to the unfortunate demise of SimPeg. All the works contained within this download (lots and descriptors) were created by Paeng. The original surf shack models and VW buses props were made by @madhatter106 and you can find them on the provided link in the Dependencies below. Installation: Unzip the whole bundle, or COPY the "Paeng" folder from the *.zip into your plugin folder. You don't need to keep the "Documentation" folder. To uninstall, bulldoze any instance of this lot in your city, then remove the file(s) from your Plugins. Heavily based on a building in the waterfront district in my hometown, Haugesund, Norway, which is the primary nightime entertainment area here. I don't know much about this building to be honest, it was probably built in the early 1900's or late 1800's. Included in this download are two nightclubs, and one old fashioned bar Berserk (nightclub) (This one is the one closest to the real building) The Glory (Gay Nightclub done by request) Dampen, an old fashioned bar. Updated: Model now in HD, for that extra crisp pint! Dempseys, opposite Cardiff Castle, is a relatively small but very friendly traditional Irish pub. It attracts a lot of regulars, unusually so for a City Centre pub, probably because the bar staff are friendly and welcoming. I've spent many evenings there which is why I decided to model it! Unlike the real thing, I've included a beer garden at the rear, for those sunny afternoons! It is a functional 1x2 landmark providing 20 CS$$ jobs, $5000 to plop (no maintenance cost or negative effects). It comes complete with custom query sfx and Equinox's custom query gui. Paddy's Brew Pub is a pub in tiny Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Wolfville is dominated by Acadia University. The university keeps the town alive and the yearly influx of students keeps bars like Paddy's rolling in the dough. Rumor has it that the grilled chickent is to die for. Paddy's is the second entry in my Atlantic Canada BAT set, which is a set of bats from the various small towns scattered across the region. Paddy's fits w2w on one side and fits with JBSimio's small town set. Paddy's isn't w2w on both sides to allow an alleyway midblock in the small town set. The Ship Anson is an old Pub in Portmouth England, i went here on my friends 18th birthday so i decided to model it for the game. In Real Life it has a prime location outside Portsmouth Harbour Station on the waterfront near to the Historic Dockyard and Spinnaker Tower. The Star Inn Stop for a pint or two at the Star Inn - a fine selection of real ales and continental beers is on offer for discerning sims. The Star is a traditional country pub that would be ideal for a village location. This is a Cs$$ building which grows on two lot sizes (2x2 and 3x2) and provides 29 jobs. This is a fictional building, though the beer is real. Fish Tale Ale is brewed in Oregon, and they make several variations on a seasonal basis. There are several growable variations to this lot, including one with a small hotel attached, and a separate lot with just the hotel. Seems that there aren't enough Pubs in SimCity, so I've recreated my local village pub, The Plough Inn! The Plough Inn dates back to the 1800's, when my area was little more than the odd shop & a few houses, and although its seen renovations, the interior & exterior have kept the same olde worlde spirit. This 2 storey building is where you'll find me when im not working or batting Comes complete with nightlighting, outside benches & a small parking area at the rear, all just like the real thing. Costs 500 to plop, no maintenance cost. Version 1.1 Now comes with custom query sfx & 20 commercial jobs. Cheers, im off for another pint!
