  2. Work on the transport network continues... The last week saw continued progress on the designing the road layout and the various other transportation facilities. Also work started on adding city services. Near the river, just behind the cut-off from the mainline, the first light rail station was added. This line will in the future be named "Beach Line", as it will track the coast line for quite a bit. Behind, a water pump was added. The fence around it is the only detail so far, more to come. To the south of the downtown area, the light rail leaves the station tunnel. This will be the Innercity Shuttle. This I built 'old school' with the stock quays. I will most likely change this to match the building style of the other stations I added so far. Another view of the sunken train station. Here the focus lies on the reworked on/off-ramps for the highway. This way continuation of the roads beyond the highway is possible. Of the light rail lines coming out of the main station, one is crossing the river to the north-east, in the future connecting the eastern suburbs to the downtown area. As there will be a small industrial area (mostly city services and logistics), I added a more industrial looking elevated station. As you can see, I already plopped down some buildings in the future downtown, these are just to get a feeling for scale and may be replaced or removed soon. Some of the buildings also are already final, where I detailed the exit of the tram line, which will serve the downtown area (I decided to use buses only in the suburbs). Here I used the new networked retaining walls in combination with the ploppable pavement by @Ronyx69. Further details such as planters, fences, lights etc. are yet to be added. Following is another view of the downtown area, subject to change. Now, let's return to the "Beach Line". After leaving the Riverside station, the line arcs below the highway bridge and the reaches the first shoreside station. Before there is a small underpass to allow for a grade-separated crossing of a roundabout. Again, I used the retaining walls network, in combination with the ploppable grass and some vegetation to hide any imperfections. The "bridge" is made by using some of the dock pieces, again by @Ronyx69. Here is a view from the other side: This looks quite good, I have to employ some protection against the river. Whenever I do terraforming upstream, the subsequent "tsunamis" flood the underpass... The line now follows the shore, until we reach a larger station (I may add an intermediary station). Here the InnerCity Shuttle meets the Beach Line again. There are a few sidings to store unneeded trains. The Beach Line will continue follow the shore line, the InnerCity Shuttle moves to the left (east). Moving back across the river (yeah, we're all over the place today...), let's have a look at the small industrial / logistics / services area: A branchline comes off the mainline, and enters a small yard (remember: the main yard is on the other side of the river). Here we have access to a distribution center (one of @Avanya's masterpieces if you ask me), accompanied by an assortment of other warehouses. The siding just on the left will have some tanks for unloading oil cars. Moving down the line, we see a small container handling facility. I need to "pave" the siding and place a reach stacker for loading containers on well cars. This - in my mind - is just a small facility, where domestic containers are placed on trains to be transported to the next logistics hub. View from a lower angle. The smaller warehouses behind are dedicated in my mind to less-then-carload cargoes as well as everything that is not containerized. Here we see a local train spotting some cars in the siding. I need to subscribe to some cargo handling assets. Further upstream we find the Genoa City LNG powerplant (also still mostly undetailed). And finally, the cities main water treatment plant.   I still need to sort out my mod list, which is way too full, remove a ton of skyscrapers which are too big, add some more cargo handling equipment, more warehouses and then I can start plopping down buildings to get a working / viable baseline city, so that I can find out if my roads and other transit stuff works... Until then, have a good one!

A dramatic scene is unfolding at Baron cross station, the main station for Roehampton city. The 5:15pm train to the northern suburbs was departing the station when the train derailed and the second carriage exploded. Debris can be seen all over the tracks.  Every emergency service is en route to the scene. The royal Hospital is on red alert for major injuries and Fairbanks avenue and Fleet road have been closed to allow rescue vehicle easy access to the hospital. All trains in an out of the city have been halted. No metro trains are stopping at the station for the time being also.

  4. And finally, there is an update again :-)
(as always it took me a while to make some progress again. This time probably due to summer …) Still building on my country's capital: Port de Caravella. All you see is lotted (another reason for the slow progress).
The main city outline is ready, but still much work to do when it comes to details. So, in the past weeks/months I've been working on various details and small improvements / expansions all over the city. And I like the results, the city comes more and more together. So for this update, no particular story behind it all, just a nice number of pictures …

If you like it … let me know!

  5. In the Middle of the busy Port of Didicas lies a peaceful refuge for port workers and nearby residents. The Seaman's Park     The park is part of the itinerary of some city tours specially coming from the nearby cruise ship terminal.  Here you'll find Sight seeing tour buses waiting for their tourist return coming back from the park walk.     Northern portion of the park you'll find a small football field where port based company stage the tournaments. Surrounding it is the parks itself wherein during weekends a small flee market is open for the public.  You'll also find a small memorial park near the football field. b     The Seamen's Park also has an amphitheatre open air venue for local artist, stage plays, zarsuela, stand-up comedians and classic orchestra perform.     The Japanese Spa House normal caters those port workers needing some relaxing massage. The Spa offers mineral onsens therapie, magma stone beds, a tea house and Japanese Zen garden. A few meters from the Spa house is the Park Stone marker with dedications for the Port of Didicas

Heya! It´s some time since my last update but a lot happened in Waldey. So be aware: I have something to tell.
When I started to let cims move in, I needed only a few hours to reach a population of around 8000. I was very pleased and did build a lot with RICO buildings for industrial areas. So I rebuilt the harbor of Harwich with RICOs instead of the procedural objects buildings I used before.
To make it short: I produced a mess. There were not enough people to work, so the commercials got abandoned, the residentials followed, and in the end I lost nearly everything. Then I started again with around 900 cims, who had mercy with me, and trusted me to find a way out of the desaster. I tried a lot to make cims coming in again but the very first step forward was a house made by khrysler, that cims seem to love. I could plop a lot of residentials but only this one got their appreciation, a 1x3 lot, all others got abandoned directly. I plastered Harwich, Stanton, and Eristown with this building, and yeah - cims moved in again. After a while I tried other buildings as well, and slowly the cims seemed to accept more variety without any abandonment. From then on I placed commercials and industrials very slowly, in a sense, that an old school SimCity player would call "natural grown" (although the most buildings are plopped instead of grown). And well, Waldey did grow and prosper. At the moment 30000 cims live there, and actually some demand exists for all sectors. I hope, that I can rebuild the harbor of Harwich for a last time now (I did it five or six times, and it got always abandoned and demolished...). Like I said in the last update, this is no USA themed island although I am using all the US buildings. It is my imagination of a place I would like, a dream in it´s best sense. Let´s see, where this will lead to.  But for sure it will stay focused on realistic looking railways. Until now only one lot is detailed, you will see it in the pictures, - it is the only factory, that got not destroyed during the big downfall. But I tried a lot, I also downloaded masses of props into my folders, now I use 1427 assets. Loading screen mod always tells me, it would be too much but it loads and works fine until now. A few informations on the side:
I use the no pipe mod to avoid the network nodes limit. To be honest: I prefer to build fences and curbs and walkways instead of things you cannot see. For electricity I build powerlines, even if there are houses, just like it would be in reality. The lines then end mostly at  small transformer stations. At railway lines you can see pure cosmetic telegraph lines for the communication between stations. At crossings I move the different poles intogether, so that it looks like a big one, that serves both lines, - power, and telegraph. For enthusiasts:
The train network will stay for goods only, - there is simply no chance of passenger trains on single rail tracks. Sad, yes , but here the story of my dream has to follow the restrictions of the game. I built the complete system with a single two way track, that I made to get rid of catenaries (you can find it on the workshop though). Then I changed a few segments into one way, so the trains now run only clockwise. It´s not, what I want but I am happy to be able to simulate a single track line. Passenger transport is done by bus and tram. I have two tram lines in Eristown, also three buslines there, one busline in Harwich, and three regional buslines. But now some pictures of pure work in progress: The map first: The demolished harbor: The factory, that got not demolished: In the background you can see an island, that is the so called "poo-island": A view to the trainstation in Harwich (completely wip): But some other parts of Harwich come out nicely: Or this part: The next pictures are from Stanton. The train runs on the mainstreet, a spurline connects to a local factory: View from Main Street to the station: This picture shows also a factory but this time it´s Eristown: A few steps back - the goods station of Eristown:   That was all for today. But if you are reading this, and if you like or want to critizise my work, then feel free to leave a comment, and tell me, what you would like to see next from Waldey. Also, if you have questions (how or why I do something): Ask me, and I will answer. You are always welcome, you are my dear readers! Cheers!
  8.   Hi There again folks! I'm really happy that the redevelopement work of The Bright City is being appreciated! Unfortunately I also noticed that all of the images attached in the previous chapters published three years ago (but not the first two ones, which is quite strange) are no logner available and I'm sorry because no more direct comparison will be possible with how the city was in 2015.
But, and this is the good news, regarding this part of the city I've been able to find some old screenshot saved in my HD, so the comparison there will also be in this chapter even if it will be the last one. For this reason, and also because what has to be shown to you is really much, I dediced to go a bit quick and show you in a single entry what previously was in four (Chapter III, IV, V and VI to be precise). The remastered version differences are really a lot so let's begin, but first of all... @Kingkhufu @wallasey @sunda @VALASatoshi @bobolee @Dead_End @Elenphor @mrsmartman @f3cs Thanks for the likes and comments! Without your support it's not the same! HELLFIRE BAY IN 2015 Hellfire Bay it's the inlet directly facing the the Victoria Harbor Island and that, has such, has a large mercantile traffic within it with numerous cargo ships continously passing through to dock the piers facing the bay (as you've seen in the previous chapter the remastered version of Victoria Harbor also has many piers not facing the bay but the ocean). Before going into details it is worth to take a look at the whole bay as it is now in the morning and, why not, also by evening: HELLFIRE BAY IN 2018   Please let me say that the harbor's loading yards are not empty at all, but by this far there's no way to make the custom props visible! So, it is quite a large bay surrounded by mountains (it is almost the same in the whole city!) that directly faces the estern open sea. There are as many as eight city districts (three of the being islands) that overlooks at it making it the most peculiar by this point of view, but certainly not the largest. Well... then let's see these districts (seven of eight, since one of them - not visible in the pictures above - will be included in another entry) one by one! BRIGHTVALE IN 2015 BRIGHTVALE IN 2018 This is one of the largest districts of Aurora (so much that its notheastern part - on the right in the image above - continue beyond Hellfire Bay) although, by far, not one with the highest population given the low density of its housing, with some exceptions like the area surrounding its living center, with the train station, the town hall and the local high school. The almost peculiar feature of this district is for sure the Victoria Harbor east checkpoint, not on the harbor island itself but located in this district eastern limit and connected to the seaport through a four lanes, one way tunnel. Moving west, we arrive to an important intersection: the largest Brightvale Boulevard on the left brings the traffic directly to the Stonehaven district, while the narrowest Magnolia Avenue leads to the homonymous district. While the first one is served by a bus line and full of parking lots and shops, with also some offices the other one is a narrower quiet street next to the railway. Heavy traffic is banned here. s MAGNOLIA IN 2015 MAGNOLIA IN 2018 In this rather small district is the first important purpose change of the remastered version we encounter: in 2015 it substantially was a large farm the city needed essentially because it was still rather small, but it clashed far too much with what surrounded it. Mostly for this reason this has become a neighborhood that merges perfectly with Brightvale, whose main features are a rather large sports center next to a really exclusive private high school and one the biggest cemetery of the city, together with a train station only used by the local train service that go across Hellfire Bay and, ultimately, a land value even higher than Brightvale due to the large parks nearby that certainly make it a pretty desirable neighborhood as long as you can afford it! STONEHAVEN If you're impressed by the skyline you can see in the last picture... hey that's not downtown! It's just the Hellfire Bay one, the pretty small but busy district of Stonehaven, as in 2015 the neuralgic center of the whole bay: here is its largest train station with intercity trains, a large bus terminal to which all the bay bus lines stops and the connection to the higway (the highways to be precise, since one starts right here) and, most importante of all I guess, the Hellfire Bay General Hospital. Here are large condos, a big interchange parking just next to the station, a ferry terminal with a fast connection to Victoria Harbor and the Literature and Philosophy faculty State University. Its weak point is the lack of commercial areas. LYON HILL Just north of Stonehaven there is a hill ruling the entire bay: this is Lyon Hill, whose name is due precisely to this. It's a very little borough, but pretty exclusive, since it is in a very close position to the main transit hub of the bay, without suffering any traffic congestion since the road leading to the neighborhood is used only by its residents. The distinctive feature of this neighborhood is certainly the great basilica located on the top of the hill, very sought after for weddings and also for the spectacular belvedere right in front of its facade, from which you can get a breaktaking view of the entire bay. FREEMONT Time to go deeper into the bay, coming to a very particular district in terms of shape: Freemont is indeed a very long high density strip that follows the bay profile. It definitely is the commercially best served area of the bay even if, let's say it openly, if you want to have serious shopping you have to take the highway or train and move to other areas of the city! Just about the highway: it's not possible not to speak of the largest intersection of the whole city, known as the "Hellfire Loop" that connects two of  the main arteries of the city highways system. IRVINE Where Freemont ends, Hellfire Bay ends. But before moving to this area we have to go west and arrive to Irvine, another mostly low density, high value residential district without particular attractions if not the tranquillity of living here. The most noticeable things probably are that its southernmost part is de facto inside a gorge, its uncommon sunken train station and the small but quite renowned track & field stadium mostly used by juniores. And here we exactly are where we were at the end of the previous chapter, at the junction leading to the Aurora Harbor Bridge located south of Freemont district, and this journal entry (pretty long!) is going to end, even because it is getting dark... HELLFIRE ISLAND But isn't something missing? Yes, and it's rather obvious not to say prominent! Also because it is what gives energy to this whole area and beyond: the Hellfire Island power station, located on the small island connected via bridges to Freemont and Stonehaven. But if you're planning to take this shortcut to avoid the traffic on the highway you'll be very disappointed: access to this island is restricted to authorized personnel only, and anyone must be equipped with an identification card and an authorized license plate to pass unharmed the two militarized checkpoints located at both edges of the island. In essence, here is a big part of what makes the city working and that's why security measures are so high. There are rumors that there are snipers placed at strategic points and that every now and then, to stay trained, they shoot the seagulls! And that's all, for now! But before leaving... I'm pretty sure you might be interested in having a map of this area! So.. here it is at the highest possible resolution I've been able to make it! There's no legend but seems to me it is quite easy to understand (let me know if you think it's not!), let me just say that the black and white lines are the train lines! As usual, let me finish with a last image that previews the next entry! Keep followin' and you'll be surprised!
  9. And now is September!
The work in general for this year has brought little results and continues to this days.
There are already built microdistricts: Mėdla (captured with little town Iknota):   Opila:   and Ekli:   The settlement in them continues to this day. After an unpleasant history in Virapila, where, after settling into the district without any fee, an unprecedented rampant crime took place, so it was decided to sell apartments here, however, at preferential prices. Other microdistricts are still constructing, so they will be done apr. in November.
On the territory of the free city of Kištu, as well as in adjacent areas (garda's), the D6 road were completely rebuilt to the new motorway B18 in the south side from the city. The north side is almost done too. Here you can see the new junction Ekli - Saluōka - B18:   Here is shown the small town Salaspila with a new constructed highway B18 in the north:   And in conclusion of this issue - a photo of a new railway to Satra for 12 kilometers from Kištu:

After from what seems to be an eternity from posting anything in over a year, I am back with more ideas and energy for developing Mistral Isle. Here is some few teaser shots to give you an idea of what is to come very soon. Please mind that these shots are what I consider to be polished and done, as there are still other areas I have not shown yet to reach this level of development.

So This Is An Earth Map That I Created And It Might Seem Like I'm Trying To Copy Off Of The "True Earth Map" But Actually I'm Making It A Little Bit Differently. So I Just Got Inspiration From The True Earth Map And Then I Thought... Hmm... Maybe I Could Make A Different Kind Of Earth Map And Make "Fantasy Cities" From Earth Itself. Feel Free To Leave A Reply And Yeah. So I Made This Timelapse Video Where I Build My First City And No Its Not Something Like "Los Angeles" Or "Shanghai" Or "New York City". No. I'm Making A City Called "Capitol City". So, Enjoy The Video!
  11. And now what we've all been waiting for, downtown St. Christine.  From the beginning, I've had this idea for downtown. Several tall buildings surrounding a central rail station and large park.  Development begins. The station in detail. The art museum pokes out from between buildings towering over it. And at night... I had to change the highway off ramp into downtown. Originally this was just an avenue T intersection, but outgoing traffic just bunched up at the light. One ways made the transition much smoother Close up of the stock exchange. A view of the government district. A shot before the stadium was built Before and after photos for the minor league stadium and sports complex, across from the university. Downtown in it's current state. A quick look at the high tech industrial park between downtown and the airport. And finally, all of St. Christine.   Thanks so much for viewing my CJ!

Jackson County Episode 1 - "Downtown Jackson" Welcome to Jackson County! RV Capital of the World! Before I show you the "Historic District" of downtown Jackson, you must first understand a little bit about this city. Here you go: - Region of the USA: Central Michigan - City Population: 54,670  - County Population: 197,892  - Known for: RV Capital of the World (manufacturing RVs) In this first episode, the highlight feature will be the historic and quaint, "Downtown Jackson."  The City of Jackson is content on preserving the historic quality of downtown Jackson. Many regional and corporate headquarters reside in Downtown Jackson. Alas, here you go: 1. Jackson Square: The heart of the city. The epicenter of all the action. Yes, there are plans to revitalize the downtown. It's not exactly the nightlife scene, but, during the daytime, the streets are crowded. For the lack of a better infrastructure.   2. Northern Lights Casino & Resort Despite much opposition, the Pokagon Band of Indians was able to twist the arms of city leaders to locate a casino in the downtown. It was seen as an "economic boost." The Jackson Police Department thinks differently.      3. Jackson County Convention Center & Michigan Federal Government Building Michigan's state senator or governor may make an appearance every once in a while to the Michigan Federal Government Building, conveniently located next to the convention center. $28 million dollar price tag (tax dollars of course).    4. Greater Downtown Jackson Downtown office occupancy rate of 87%. Pretty solid for a Midwestern town. Apparently there are plans in the works for a "major" investment from a foreign company to locate their headquarters in downtown Jackson. Skepticism remains.   5. Jackson College Neighborhood The historic Jackson College, founded in 1897. Many beautiful homes, condos, and townhomes can be found here in this historic college and nearby neighborhood. This area has seen residential growth due to the Research Hospital located nearby.    6. "Northwoods" Downtown Neighborhood Who wants to take a stroll down the Jackson Canal, or perhaps the Jackson Central Pathway? Quaint neighborhood just north of downtown. Homes in this area will go between 250k - 400k. The price for safety and amenities!   7. Historic North Jackson Neighborhood (Old Money) One of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. Also located north of downtown about two miles. The mayor resides here, the founder of Keystone RV, and many other prominent businessman. Homes were built in the 1920s and 30s. This particular neighborhood features the North Jackson Pathway through the center of the neighborhood.    8. Southeast Gardens Neighborhood Another prominent neighborhood located nearly a mile southeast of downtown. Features the South Jackson Pathway as well as the Jackson Gardens. Volunteers from the neighborhood take care of the landscaping in the area. Quite the community pride in this quaint neighborhood.    9. Jackson High School & Freshman Campus As you can see, this roadway sees traffic build up during the school rush hour. Local leaders have consistently delayed this project for safety reasons. As one council member states, "we don't want this roadway becoming a major thoroughfare through our city with so many school facilities nearby." Therefore, no change has occurred.    10. The Jackson Avenue Shopping Corridor The regional shopping corridor in the city, South Jackson Avenue. Nearly every big box and chain restaurant can be found in this area. Pictured above is the Jackson Mall. Still thriving amid online retailers such as Amazon.    11. Jackson County Regional Airport & Industrial Parkway Still not international status, although the airport has seen considerable growth with the population creeping up. Truck traffic near this avenue is extremely heavy as there are nearly 40 businesses in this 1 mile radius. This is one of the economic backbones of the region.    12. Grand Jackson Industrial Park The second largest industrial park in the region, features many RV manufacturing companies as well as distribution centers. A rail hub goes through the area as well. Highlighted is Grand Design RV.   13. Teaser for Next Episode: Southwood Township Although not technically part of the city of Jackson, this growing township is just south of the city. Does the city of Jackson have plans of annexing this area into the city? Nearly everybody living here commutes to the city of Jackson. Here are a few pictures to symbolize what Southwood Township is like, and yes, suburbia does come to mind. So does traffic...

Santa Vegas has an average estimated population of 225,000. Geographically, it is composed of steep, mountainous terrain intersected by a river, flowing from northwest to southeast. Between the source of the river and its mouth, it widens, forming Lake Vegas. It then drains into the (Unnamed) Ocean. In the southeast, the scenic coastline dominates. The river is crossed only 4 times: The northernmost crossing consists of a pair of road bridges. The main road connection is 4 lanes each direction and the secondary connection is 1 lane each direction with tram tracks; The second crossing connects the island in Lake Vegas with the commercial zone via a pair of one-way 2 lane highways; The third and most vital crossing is a pair of highway bridges at the base of the lake carrying north-south traffic across; The final crossing is a 1 lane (in each direction) road at the mouth of the river connecting two monuments on each side. The remainder of the map consists of mainly mountainous terrain bounded by low-lying coastal plains. The easternmost dense development (Washington region) is particularly vulnerable to flooding due to the low elevation and immediately coastal location. Across the Bay--in the area of the southernmost river crossing--the industrial region here is prone to flooding despite the seawalls. Drainage is generally quick and the region rebuilds with ease. Finally, the most vulnerable region for tsunami impact is just north of the Washington region where there is a small lagoon. When a tsunami impacts the region--no matter its direction--the shape of the lagoon creates ripples and rebounds the energy of the water, often pushing water back into areas just affected by water. Further north, east of the International Airport, a recent major tsunami inundated the airport and surrounding developments; something that had not previously occurred. Fortunately, tsunamis will not flow any further than about the middle of Forrest Park due to a waterfall in the river; the elevation change is (luckily) too great for even the most extreme tsunamis.   Apologies, these screenshots were taken during a tsunami event.     Please, comment with any questions you might have!
  13. Welcome back, traveller!   Haven't you heard? New jobs will be available in the West, with the wealthy Osalis wanting to found their own manor. Lots of business is already underway with Noman stone mine just opened North West of Cronio:   And even more opportunities with the advancement in uncharted territory, West, at Dostin forestry:   Oh, you also might have heard those... unpleasent... monster stories... What? You haven't? Well...   I'll tell you what they say: Wild animals they say...
He who led the woodcutting monitored the shadowed treeline where the sunshine was filtered out to a
darkened everlasting cave. Branches were like arms and leaves were like scales of a dragon's skin. The
men giggled and grinned with an insecure sense of sarcasm and scorn at each other's fear, the only
honest emotion permeating around. In the meantime the forest chirped and screamed uninterrupted in an
orchestra of liveliness. The skeleton of a growing stone wall only hinted at a future sense of
security.  Suddenly, a beastly roar. Far away - yet close enough to freeze everybody in place. Birds also reacted
to the call of the wild. A flock took the sky chaotically, scared away. Friendly faces looked at each
other in confusion and the fear only grew stronger. The men in uniform armed with rifles formed up
hastily and reported to the commanding officer. He instructed a team to investigate the area past the
perimeter.  So they left... And work started again. The foreman felt unease. He consulted with the Captain of the military company stationed there.  "Mister Mai. What's troubling you?" "Captain. I might just be tired and stressed..." "You scared some big lizard is goin' come out of the jungle and munch on y'mans?" The foreman could summon a smirk. But it faded. "The thought has crossed my mind. I would have to be honest..." The Captain sighed with a benevolent smile on his bearded face and patted his round belly over the
loose uniform. "Now. Don't you tell you believe all the stories..." "No, sir. I know they like to... 'embellish'?" The Captain laughed out loud holding his belly.  "Embellish?" When he finished laughing - and he took his time - he dried the tears and together with the foreman
walked in one of the two wooden huts - his 'office'. He grabbed a butt of bread and bit it, showing his
back to the foreman, who looked at it anxiously. "Two weeks ago B platoon was on patrol on the southern perimeter after reports of 'disturbance' to
work. Y'friend was on shift. Romaro. Great guy. But a tad retarded, if I can be honest..." The Captain turned to face Mr Mai with raised eyebrows, awating his response. Mr Mai sighed
preoccupied. "I know. He's not the brightest. But he gets the job done" "Exactly my point." The Captain sat down behind his tiny desk. He barely fit. His tone took a sharp turn into the dark and
gloomy. "They'd heard weird animal noise and chirps and saw movement in the trees that was a tad too close to
the work. So I sent my men in to investigate... "Forty soldiers walked into the forest. Fully armed with rifles an'revolvers... "Eleven terrified and wounded men came out, screamin'... You could tell the shock in their eyes. As
if... they had seen hell, and it only just missed them. They probably couldn't believe they were still
alive afterall... "When we asked them what they'd seen... They couldn't tell." The Captain shrugged the darkness off his shoulder and bit the bread once more. Mr Mai was intrigued. "How's that possible, Captain? Weren't they questioned properly?" The Captain took a slight bit of offence and raised his tone with aggression. "You think I can't handle my men?" Mr Mai immediately withdrew and the Captain disengaged. He felt compelled to explain, though. "I don't know... My guess is that... What got'em... must've scared the shit out'o'em!" "Yeah..." The Captain observed Mr Mai's perplexed face for a while as he chewed the bread. Then he leaned
forwards and produced a bunch of papers out of the desk drawer.  "Here. Have a read through these" He handed them to Mr Mai. "What are they?" The Captain smirked. "Bunch o'papers you might find..." Mr Mai reluctantly grabbed the papers as the Captain gleefully finished his sentence. "...Interesting"
The foreman retreated to his hut next door to read through the documents. They were military reports.
He got comfortable enough and started reading in the privacy of his small office.
He shuffled the papers around, and as he got engrossed in the stuff and started reading aloud without
realising... 17/7/67 District 4-4. Onesa Valley. approx 2km south-west of Cronio city walls.  Bla bla bla... Sighting of at least 12 strong pack of bipedal man-size creature, with long tails He shuffled to another paper 22/8/67 Sighting... ...man-size creature, with long tails... And another paper. 8/9/67 Sighting... ...11 strong pack of bipedal... with long tails... He started blank in the air and papers slipped off his hand. He grunted as he recovered them from the
dampy wooden floor and cross-checked them. He found something of utmost interest: ...pack of bipedal man-sized creature with long tails, now nicknamed "the Forest Raider"...
...also known as: "Kinoraptor". This species is to be considered extremely dangerous and of a hostile
nature. Maximum caution is to be observed in the areas where this animal is known to have been spotted
or suspected of inhabiting. Mr Mai relaxed on the chair and dipped into the darkness of his thoughts.
The sun slipped behind the tree tops and it became darker very quickly. Mr Mai looked at the working
area with apprehension and sighed anxiously. Then he breathed in and tensed. "Alright! That's enough for today, peeps!" He called the supervisors who in turn mustered the woodsmen for the walk back to camp, where they will
be behind the safety of stone walls and armed guards. But: gunfire! The rifles thundering echoed back to the woodscutting opening and more birds flocked away. Once again
the men froze in place looking in the direction of the sounds.
The gunfire persisted until it was upon the woodscutting area. It was then that the roar became a clear
and present danger. Horrified grown men started to scream their heart out in high pitched voice and
turned their back to scuttle initially in random directions, until mostly everybody was running in the
same direction: towards civilization. The foreman challenged the stream of fellow terrified workers to
get eyes on the danger and saw a massive shadow chasing the soldiers in the forest. It strode on two
muscular legs, its upper body sprang forward and counterbalanced by a long tail. Its entire body served
as support for prodigious jaws packed with teeth.
The last of the sunrays that filtered through the forest contrasted with the fuzzy skin of the mammoth
beast. A bloodied face soldier pushed the foreman out of the way, but he regained his posture still
admiring in awe the approaching monster. He couldn't believe his eyes.        ATTACK ON DOSTIN FORESTRY - THE LINOLO HERALD 17/3/68 WILD ANIMALS HALT THE WORK AND DOZENS OF WORKERS FLEE IN TERROR. UNCLEAR THE NUMBER OF WOUNDED SOLDIERS. 14. This is the second entry in a series of entries covering Aeroes City. The previous entry covered the dirty roots of the city region that was initially discovered by industrialists. As industry boomed in the city, the population flooded in. Setting up tent, and dropping their anchors, the population needed something a little more permanent. So forth Aeroes City became a city. Suburbs were built, and before long, towering apartment blocks appeared. The township of Aeroes was officially awarded city status with the deceleration of its first downtown district. Part II: Downtown Initially, the heart of Aeroes City followed a narrow corridor branching from the Athena Straight Industrial District, through what is today the Northern District. Even today, remnants of the past remain along the busy avenue, that remains skirted by towers to this day. The downtown location in the Northern District had little space to grow, however, and quickly became quite long. With so much population relying on one major artery in and out of town, traffic built up. Commutes became long. Too many buildings relied on the avenue. It couldn't become a highway. The nearby suburbs also opposed the idea of a highway cutting them in half. Eventually, a railway was built through the district, alleviating some traffic issues, and creating others in the process. Level crossings were the only space saving option. The Northern District had outgrown its shoes. Old, rotting residential towers in the old downtown in the Northern District are a reminder of the undesirable location. Despite the rot, sims still choose to live here. This intersection is the heart of Northern, with this train station one of the busiest in Aeroes City. A new addition to the old downtown - a row of commercial offices border the high-tech industry and a suburb of the Northern District. The avenue is a now major transport route with the decision to build a traffic tunnel under the river from Northern to Central. An overview of the east-west downtown of old.  The downtown area followed the avenue from Athena Straight in the west to the diagonal avenue in the east. It was largely a residential downtown, with the population boom from Athena Straight.   Aeroes City was at breaking point, and needed room to grow when the floodgates were opened. From here came the birth of the Central District on the opposite banks of the Aeroes River. By now, the commercial business was paying close attention to the city. A north-south highway was built connecting the banks, and exits placed in prime location for commercial industry. Close to the first exit, the public radio station AM-FM (Aeroes Metropolitan-FM), promoted the initial growth of downtown. Grew it did, the peninsular quickly became a sea of high rise apartments and office space. Boasting all the modern amenities needed to host a growing office population, the Central Region of Aeroes City will go down in history as Downtown. A snapshot of Central, bounded by Aeroes River, the railway in the West, and the avenues in the South and East. Unofficially, the South and East stretches to the nearby roads. AM-FM in amongst the eastern commercial offices of Central, at the foot of the first of 3 highway off ramps feeding into Central. The city zoo overlooks the oldest highway bridge in the region. The heart of Central is home to the Stock Exchange and the Bureau of Bureaucracy. A stones throw away is the minor-league soccer/football stadium, and the major-league baseball stadium. The city wharf is home to high class retail and office space. At the northernmost tip of the Central District is the convention center. A high-value commercial district has sprawled countless boutique offices at its doorstep. The civic center of town in the late afternoon. Home to city hall, the courthouse, the central library, and the central firehouse. As the sun goes down on another busy day in Aeroes City, many sims, region wide, are tuning into AM-TV-9: one of the national TV stations of the Flatlands. I hope part II of Welcome to Aeroes City has been as entertaining to see as it was to build. The city is still a work in progress, and someday I may have to revisit the downtown area(s). Lookout for part III, coming soon.

WELCOME to the first town of this great region. North Qwerty is the beginning farm/small town plot. It consists of thousands of farm jobs and a portion dedicated to medium manufacturer jobs. To the north-central along the rive is the starter town. Development then spread out in all directions. Now has 3 main townships and 2 major manufacturing centers. The transportation consists of rail for both passenger and cargo,  and the starting stretch of the rhw system. Along with subway connecting the townships together.  I created a pic vid using in-game screenshots and the windows pic-to-video editor. HERES THE PIC-VID WILL be adding a couple of ferry terminals to connect to the rest of the region. This will be a huge undertaking due to the fact that the land has to be expanded in order to place them in, without wiping out existing city building.   Been a long time since playing this region...it seems I can't finish a full region before I start a new one. Crazy how that works out...lol
  17. Hudston Bay - the modern gem of Treien
Hudston Bay was a sprawling industrial area, however by 1960 all of the dockyard moved from HB to Jervis, Neutral Bay and Etusk. Today the dockyards are now fully outside of Treien in Etusk (a 55 minute drive from the city). During the 1960s to the late 70s, Hudston Bay was stagnated with poverty and crime. Most of the houses and flats are in a poor state at this time and most of the city's rich has moved down south to South Treien and even outside the city in places in New North Wales, Maine and Northern Ostrobia. However after the 70s, a massive push to revitalise Hudston Bay as Ostrobia has yet to have a proper financial and buisness hub at the time. The Government put billions and billions of dollars to put Hudston Bay in to good use and it meant that a lot of flats and apartments was knocked down to make way for tall skyscrapers and only 25% of original architecture still remains. Also shown is Forbes Park, one of the major city park of Treien, located in Hudston Bay.

[/SPOILER] Grustanasberg - Cultural Capital of Ostrobia
Grustansberg is the Cultural Capital of Ostrobia? Why? There is a lot of history behind Grustansberg and lots of things to see and do there as well. Grustansberg is home to the Tower of Liberty, a world landmark built in 1860 to comemerate the Ostrobian revolution of 1848. The Riverside Park shows a glimpse of Hudston Bay from the south side. Notorious places of interest include New Edinbrugh Musuem, Uktlespreken Musuem, Treien Opera House, Treien Art and Portrait Gallery, Mirabel Fountain, Nieuw Alkmaarplein, Monument of the Fallen Ostrobians, Colonial Gardens, German Market and the Grustansberg Market.

Inside German Market Tollsbury - Government's Area
Tollsbury is the area in which the Federal Government is located. It also hosts a number of embassies. Tollsbury is generally not regarded as Central Treien but in fact Central South East Treien due to a number of flats and little major retail areas. Most of Tollsbury is either housing or office administration.

The Tollsbury Circus island is owned by the federal government. It is surrounded by 15 story high stone walls built in the 1910s to deter any foreign invading power. The perimeter of the walls have been used to station machine and anti aircraft guns during World War II. Today they are an icon of Treien.

  18. Alright, so the city journal thus far has not focused that much on rail infrastructure. That's changing.   Portdale was always a major city for trains; New Haven had a major foothold in it. The majority of Commuter Lines were originally NH, being purchased by PTA following Penn Central's formation. The main Passenger Yard of Portdale is the already-covered Hayward facility, and there's smaller yards near the end of every line. Union Yard, located near Union Station, holds trainsets for the Rush Hour, preventing a deadhead. The main Citylink/Amtrak Yard is the Caller Facility, located in a rapidly-gentrifying industrial part of town. Switching for it is currently the duty of a leased BN Geep. Union Yard is usually the domain of a GP40, purchased from Springwood Lines after it was absorbed. Union Station serves trains from both directions. Northward, you have the Bay Trunk lines, radiating in a U-shape away, the Davenport line, a black-sheep from an Interurban bought up by the City, the Valley DC Lines, and the Cliffside Line, with sporadic service from the Space Ctr Shuttle.   The first stop for most Northbound trains is Newtown; having 6 tracks, 2 reserved for the (2) Subway, and 2 in each direction for the PTA. Most PTA trains head to BFI, covered in previous posts and now a major junction; 2 subway lines, Skytrain to the Terminals, several train lines, the Monorail, a LRT and Bus Service; it's one of the busiest PTA stations by volume. The monorail was a pet project of late mayor Jacobs; the Subway was overburdened and the suburbs had exploded. He ordered the construction of 2 lines- 1 to the city and 1 remaining outside. Both are fairly popular.

Introduction It's been several years since I last played or did anything SimCity related. I recently started playing SimCity 4 again because my interest in city building games came back. Given that I have a lot of free time for the next month or two, I figured that I should start up another CJ again. Like everyone else who is into mods (and downloading GBs full of mods), I downloaded several mods only to realize that the Mac version is too different than the PC version. The amount of mods that would work for the MAC version is severely limited compared to the PC version. The one mod I have been most interested in was SimMars Beta 3. As a former team-member of SimMars, I wanted to experience the same enthusiasm I had for the mod back when I contributed to it. I realize that SimMars Beta 3 only works for Windows, but I ended up using WineSkin and WineBottler to extract all of the content. As a result, I was able to get SimMars working on the Mac. I understand that the MAC version is not fully patched like the Windows version, so there are more bugs and less capabilities (e.g. no night-lights on custom content). For the sake of playing the game and content, I am happy with what I have. ---------- Teaser
  21. As you know, I have been working on my new project- Parisidia for some time now. The build is still far from done, but I thought I would show some progress. Parisidia is an island city in the far Northwest of the country of Moneyland, at the border between the provinces of Olson and Greenland. Parisidia Island is an island in the middle of the Rapid River, which stretches 1,000 miles (1,600 km) from the Southern Mountains to the city of Sandy Shores just a few miles northwest of Parisidia.    This is the current state of Parisidia. As you can see, far west and north need the most development in terms of suburban sprawl and small communities while the east still needs some more suburban sprawl. The central downtown is architecturally similar to Paris, and the Conifer Park (the park with all of the trees and winding roads) is in the middle of downtown. Note that north downtown is still a WIP. To the right of Downtown is La Leguna, a safe haven for companies and skyscrapers that have been ousted from downtown by the strict building requirements. North of La Leguna are planned to be small communities, which are also still WIP.    Today, we will focus on the West Side of Parisidia, in the cities of Ashlyn and Seeberg as well as some of the suburban communities in the North (which have already been built). We will Journey along the Ashlyn Industrial Expressway, the highway that starts at the docks and ends up north.   The Ashlyn Expressway was built in 1960, as part of the freeway boom. The freeways was to be signed I-553 for the duration of the route that would cross the north fork of the Rapid River and end in the docks. However, the Rapid River north fork bridge was never built for the Ashlyn Expwy due to protests and traffic statistics, which showed that the bridge would be underused severely.      This map shows the Ashlyn Expressway in Red, along with the major districts on the route.   Brown=CBD/Downtown (North WIP) White= Westbury Green= Beacon Heights (WIP) Orange=Ashlyn  Yellow=Seeberg (Major WIP) Blue= Docks   Today the Ashlyn Expressway is used mainly by trucks from the docks and industrial factories of Ashlyn. The expressway is actually severely underused by commuters due to its bad placement. Most commuters in the northern suburbs prefer to either take the metro to go into the city center and the east side, or the tram to go south into Ashlyn  and Riverside. The Ashlyn Expressway is the only elevated expressway in the entirety of the island. Most expressways were built several years earlier in 1950, with much more consideration of the environmental and social impacts caused by the highways (an example would be the ML-25A, which runs East to West near the southern shore from Des Locartes Village to West Point (currently WIP).      The Ashlyn Expressway begins here, at the docks of Ashlyn. Trucks use this expressway during peak hours but the road is almost deserted today.    The expressway bends around industrial storage and warehouses in the area. Warehouses in this area are mostly for temporary storage, before they are moved to the industry in the north. Looking Downwards at Industry (Sorry for low quality, but game runs very badly on my computer)   The Spaghetti Bowl is the interchange between Ashlyn Industrial Expressway and ML-25A.  Past the interchange, looking north. The expressway runs through a heavily industrialized area. The Metro can be seen going over the expressway.  A view of the Expressway crossing the metro depot. As the city retired old metro trains, they were stationed here and left to rot until Ashlyn City Council decides what to do with them. The interchange between National Boulevard and the Expressway. Due to the depot, a partial cloverleaf intersection had to be made, unfortunately leading to tons of real estate being wasted.     After the National Boulevard Interchange, the Metro Line runs parallel to the expressway. On the right side, neighborhoods such as these have started to revitalize Ashlyn. Unfortunately for the expressway, most residents of neighborhoods like these prefer to use public transport instead of the roads.     Another picture of the metro station. The freeway runs to the right of the large warehouse-turned-loft buildings on the right hand side.    When the Parisidia County decided to replace all  the old New Flyer XD 40 Buses with the new model XE-40s and XE-60s, most of the bus infrastructure, like the trains, were left here, in the depot next to the highway.  On the right side of the interchange, we have the city of Seeberg, mostly low-income houses and public housing is situated here. Seeberg was the old workers town for the industry in Ashlyn, but after industry demand dropped in Ashlyn, Seeberg was left with the population moving out.           Looking East on National Boulevard. The 1:2 Eiffel Tower replica on the left was made in 1953, to continue the tradition of building a replica Eiffel Tower for every city that was named "Paris". Although Parisidia really isn't Paris, it was close enough that the Lucky Penny Casino hired a contractor to build a replica.   Past the seedier south side of town, we can finally see some greener pastures. The expressway cuts through the northern suburbs of Parisidia.  Beacon Heights, on the top left, is known for its "liquid grid"- a grid pattern where roads bend and curve to create a sense of small-scale communities that cul-de-sacs promote.        Near Beacon Heights is the suburb of Westbury, a historical town that retains its past charm.     As seen with the signs on the spaghetti bowl interchange, Ashlyn Industrial Expressway is signed NR-210 throughout its entire route. NR stands for National Route, which designates a less-important route than the ML (Moneyland) Routes, like the A and B roads in England).    The Future of the Expressway is uncertain. While the south portion of the 210 to the docks will almost certainly be preserved, the north portion from Ashlyn to the northern suburbs is currently controversial. Demonstrations and protest have been common to remove the expressway, mainly due to it being an eyesore and not very heavily used at all. As mentioned above, people in the suburbs just tend to take the excellent and reliable public transport more than use the expressway. Perhaps if the proposed bridge across the North Branch was built, the road would be actually more heavily traveled upon than the road right now in its unfinished and almost useless state. As you can see from the picture below the freeway really starts and ends in the middle of nowhere.   Update May 16th 2018- The Council has seriously proposed an extension of the Ashlyn Industrial Expressway across the North Branch of the river and signing the route as I-161 as a divergence from I-61 above, mostly to take away traffic from the I-61/ML-25 bridge. The photo above currently shows the freeways going in and around Parisidia Island. The green and brown routes are I-61 and I-53, respectively while the Light Blue route is ML-25. As you can see, both I-61 and I-53 do not currently enter the island at all, instead terminating at either end of the island. The Yellow route is the ML-25A, the main connector highway from east to west. The solid red line is the Ashlyn Industrial Expressway currently, while the dotted red line is the city's proposal to extend the expressway so that drivers on I-61 coming from the north can easily get into the city of Ashlyn without either resorting to surface roads like National Boulevard or having to take a large detour on ML-25, then taking going on ML-25A, and finally taking the Ashlyn Expressway.    This photo explains the concerns quite well. The Red shows the current route of a commuter that wants to take only freeways from I-61 to the northern suburbs. The green shows a commuter who prefers to take the shortest route from I-61 to the northern suburbs using surface roads (the surface roads have a speed limit of only around 25 mph and have multiple traffic lights on the route). However, the blue route shows the route that a commuter will be able to take using the new Ashlyn Industrial Expressway expansion.    In addition, this photo also shows the uselessness of the Expressway in its current state for commuters especially from the north. In its current state it is much more practical to just take surface roads through downtown instead of trying to zigzag your way around the city to get onto the expressway. Should the extension be built or should the entire north highway just b demolished to make way for a surface street solution?
