Mr.Maison, these new trees are awesome, totally awesome (are these trees new?). At the first view I thought it would be a real life picture...

Heya! It´s some time since my last update but a lot happened in Waldey. So be aware: I have something to tell. When I started to let cims move in, I needed only a few hours to reach a population of around 8000. I was very pleased and did build a lot with RICO buildings for industrial areas. So I rebuilt the harbor of Harwich with RICOs instead of the procedural objects buildings I used before. To make it short: I produced a mess. There were not enough people to work, so the commercials got abandoned, the residentials followed, and in the end I lost nearly everything. Then I started again with around 900 cims, who had mercy with me, and trusted me to find a way out of the desaster. I tried a lot to make cims coming in again but the very first step forward was a house made by khrysler, that cims seem to love. I could plop a lot of residentials but only this one got their appreciation, a 1x3 lot, all others got abandoned directly. I plastered Harwich, Stanton, and Eristown with this building, and yeah - cims moved in again. After a while I tried other buildings as well, and slowly the cims seemed to accept more variety without any abandonment. From then on I placed commercials and industrials very slowly, in a sense, that an old school SimCity player would call "natural grown" (although the most buildings are plopped instead of grown). And well, Waldey did grow and prosper. At the moment 30000 cims live there, and actually some demand exists for all sectors. I hope, that I can rebuild the harbor of Harwich for a last time now (I did it five or six times, and it got always abandoned and demolished...). Like I said in the last update, this is no USA themed island although I am using all the US buildings. It is my imagination of a place I would like, a dream in it´s best sense. Let´s see, where this will lead to. But for sure it will stay focused on realistic looking railways. Until now only one lot is detailed, you will see it in the pictures, - it is the only factory, that got not destroyed during the big downfall. But I tried a lot, I also downloaded masses of props into my folders, now I use 1427 assets. Loading screen mod always tells me, it would be too much but it loads and works fine until now. A few informations on the side: I use the no pipe mod to avoid the network nodes limit. To be honest: I prefer to build fences and curbs and walkways instead of things you cannot see. For electricity I build powerlines, even if there are houses, just like it would be in reality. The lines then end mostly at small transformer stations. At railway lines you can see pure cosmetic telegraph lines for the communication between stations. At crossings I move the different poles intogether, so that it looks like a big one, that serves both lines, - power, and telegraph. For enthusiasts: The train network will stay for goods only, - there is simply no chance of passenger trains on single rail tracks. Sad, yes , but here the story of my dream has to follow the restrictions of the game. I built the complete system with a single two way track, that I made to get rid of catenaries (you can find it on the workshop though). Then I changed a few segments into one way, so the trains now run only clockwise. It´s not, what I want but I am happy to be able to simulate a single track line. Passenger transport is done by bus and tram. I have two tram lines in Eristown, also three buslines there, one busline in Harwich, and three regional buslines. But now some pictures of pure work in progress: The map first: The demolished harbor: The factory, that got not demolished: In the background you can see an island, that is the so called "poo-island": A view to the trainstation in Harwich (completely wip): But some other parts of Harwich come out nicely: Or this part: The next pictures are from Stanton. The train runs on the mainstreet, a spurline connects to a local factory: View from Main Street to the station: This picture shows also a factory but this time it´s Eristown: A few steps back - the goods station of Eristown: That was all for today. But if you are reading this, and if you like or want to critizise my work, then feel free to leave a comment, and tell me, what you would like to see next from Waldey. Also, if you have questions (how or why I do something): Ask me, and I will answer. You are always welcome, you are my dear readers! Cheers!

Prop Snapping - Game Changing Mod by BloodyPenguin

And if you prefer to install custom content into your game, why the heck don´t you use the appropriate folders? To be honest, this doesn´t sound as if you would use a legal copy of the game at all. -
Heya! I am not building in a hurry, so, well, let´s say, I made some progress. As a fan of railways, especially if it comes to more local services, I had to build a railway for goods transport, and it had to be single track. So my decision was to build some kind of ring based train network but in a way, that it at least looks like two lines with normal single train tracks. One runs the southern and eastern side of the island while the other climbs the hills two times. After all the work done on the map I realized, that this in no way longer would look like a part of the North American east coast. Everything is so dense in a way, and only the shape of the landscape divides different sceneries, while the beeline is 2,5 kilometers or 1.4 miles. And so there was a second decision to come: Now this island is located somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean (in my best personal reality). It was first explored by a few pirates, who lost their ship during a storm, then, later on people from all around the world made this island into a place to live in freedom, as it never had any king or was part of any colony. When the population started growing in the 19. century the wise and thoughtful people of Waldey volunteered for a parliament to solve political dissenses. This worked for some time (at least I had a plan for the "biggest" town then as can be seen on the pictures). This also is important for me, as my grandfather became president of the state during the people´s rebellion in 1952, and since then, the island was alway ruled by one of the Fatal family , and I can assure - elected by free choice. Here on Waldey people say. "Democracy is if one rules and nobody follows". "It´s no good if there´s no fatalism." So first a map overview again. I built all streets as dirt streets, wherever it seems reasonable for people to walk. I will replace some of them with small two lane highways as soon as the cims move in. But now I can do, what happened in the real worls once: Often used paths became roads eventually, and exactly this way it works in Waldey now. A few overviews ingame, the forests are made with pdelmo`s Ultra Low Poly Trees: Eristown: Stillhaven: Harwich: The harbor, unfinished work but functional for trains. It is based on this Cargo Harbor template made by feretwind .The buildings you can see, are made with the Procedural Objects mod, as the loading tracks are higher than the street of the harbor (nearly 2 meters). I had to deal with the niveau difference, and I couldn´t build road access to them. The big storage building is made by using this set: So far so good! I hope, you like what you see. I am back soon, cheers!

Wow! Just found your CJ, very impressive pictures, nice! And then I directly had to download your Sweet Home and the Pine Motel, Thank you for these! -
Wowowowow.... I mean, every single update is stunning, and there is not much to say exept wowowow all the time. But I am again more active here, and it´s always good to show speechlessness in words...

Super! But well, maybe I share your perspective. Did you make your own assets for it? However, simply great, cheers!

Little progress with map and streets
eufl posted a City Journal entry in Carl´s Dreams And Nightmares
Heya! I am still working on the map itself. If I see other players making maps, I am always wondering, how fast people can sculpt a nice looking landscape. My small island has no spectacular mountains, it´s merely hilly and in the southern part mostly flat (betwwen 0 and 30 meters above sea level, but I try to make everything here like it would be if built in reality. And although this island is small, I want some rail lines there (adn this is not utopic if you look to islands like Jersey or Sark or Isle Of Man), and especially the tracks have to be build with a very soft slope but without too much high dams and bridges cause of the (imagined) costs of such things. The villages and towns until now look a bit gritty, but this is mostly temporary, cause I built some squares first, wherever I wanted a settlement to be. Also I am still looking for the right textures, until now I have no such one for the rocks, I am still looking for some kind of sandstone. I use the theme mixer for this. The loaded theme is farmland by Avanya, that I really like for its fields, thanks for this, madam! Also I am fighting with the plugins. Until now there are 836 assets, that I think of as really necessary, and I hope, that my computer will not explode if I put in some more. Now a few pictures, I hope not to bore you with such a work in progress. If the map comes out as nice as I want it, I will make a save with streets and rail tracks for the workshop. The map itself can not be published, as it´s mostly built ingame. And I amuch too lazy to import it into the editor and fill in all the water sources again ( I used more than 50 of them for all the creeks, and there are still some holes in between, where the water won´t flow like I want it). The map now: Some ingame pics: On this picture you can see, how hilly the landscape really is: And a last picture to show, what I am aiming for: I hope, you can have fun looking at such unfinished work. Cheers, Carl-

Mike's new modular airport
eufl replied to mikeseith's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
Welcome back! I remember your modular parking houses, and I am sure, there are only a few out there, who don´t use your cars if playing SC4. This new project reminds me to your older things. Not really an architectural beauty but very, very useful. Especially I like the transparent glass, something I´ve never seen In C.S before, wow!- 11 Replies

Arnold J. Rimmer - asset creation (RELEASED: Brick wall 01, Concrete wall 02, Concrete barrier, Cone TRV-7)

Found your stuff a few days ago on Steam, and well, I am totally impressed. Now I am using your curbs, your bins, your paths, and some of the other stuff too. Thanks a lot, and keep the good work on! -
After a long time of absence I started playing Cities Skylines again. My town Goblinton simply died after an update, when I wasn´t willing to wait until all mods were updated. I paused for a long time, played other games but never forgot Cites Skylines. I did not play it but I´ve looked into projects of other people, and especially Strictoaster was an inspiration with his small Seenu island. I always wanted to play on islands, I like the idea to build something unconnected, something, that relays on itself. So this project started. The first step was drawing a plan on paper, which I then began to build in the map editor. Luckily I found the CSL Map Viewer (kudos to Gansaku for this important and helpful tool), and with it and my drawings I could realize the map to my likes. Nonetheless I needed two weeks of terraforming and digging creeks. Don´t ask, how long I needed to figure out, how to setup the watersources to only give small amounts of water. But now, the map is mostly done, and today I started with building the first streets and layouts for towns and villages. Waldey is a small island, situated anywhere in temperate climate. It is not part of any state, cause I wanted something, where I can play out my fantasy. And although a lot of peole like big spaghettis - I prefer nature and small streets, railways and trams. Some inspiration came from New England, Eastern Canada, New York, - well mostly cause I love the buildings of Feindbild, Darf, Khrysler, King Leno, and Prosper. No skycrapers in Waldey but small town beauty and hopefully a lot of nature and parks. Enough said: Here is the first and only picture of this entry. It´s simply the output of CSL Map View. Next time I will definately show more.

Where would we live without Thales of Milet and his affinity to grids? It was a nice third episode. And I have no problems with your way to explain the politics of an era. People should read more books if they don´t know, how civilisation works since the Argonauts were in Kolchis... Keep it on!

I am hooked. I like, how you tell the story. The most people seem not to know, how towns and settlements once have started. I really appreciate you attempt to show an example. I am eager for part 3 now.
