I would like to change the capacities of some houses and apartment plugins I have. I think they are to high in some cases. How do I edit maximum building capacities?

Another question for you all. It would be best suited in the SC4 Modding - Open Discussion forum, but there is no "Quick question" topic and I didn't want to start a whole new one simply for this. Lately I'm working on tweaking SC4 files with the ILive Reader. I found out there is XML in the SC4Desc and SC4Model files. However, it doesn't seem to be used by the game as changing it or completely removing it doesn't seem to affect the functionality of the mod in any way. I guessed it may be used by the lot editor. Could someone tell me what is it used for?

When is it necessary to bulldoze and re-plop?

I have been modifying some the the attributes in various park plugins (e.g., landmark effect, demand satisfied, pollution magnitude and radius, plop, bulldoze, and budget costs). If any of those structures are already present in an existing city, is it necessary to bulldoze and re-plop those lots in order for the changes used in the game and to avoid other types of errors. I ask this because sometimes when a plugin is updated, the author will sometimes suggest to do those things. In other words what changes made to a plugin require bulldozing and re-plopping an existing structure that was modified? -
Can someone explain the levels of air pollution for ireader? I am trying to convert a coal power plant into a "clean coal" (i.e. it still produces some air pollution - but through the use of scrubbers and type of coal used it isn't horrendous). I see in ireader the levels can be between something like -100k to 100k... Basically I want the thing to produce pollution akin to manufacturing industry

SC4-PIM Help: Inherit park values and edit description

Hello, after i created a model in PIM and dragged this model to park section in Pim Editor, are the park properties inherited correctly by the lot or do i have to set them anywhere else? -
There are a few BATs I've downloaded that I like; however, they are W2W residential lots that are growing in low density zoning. I want to change the lots so that it only grows in medium and high density zones. I've tried doing some research on this and found this thread, which says it is possible to change the numbers using the Reader program. However, I am still not understanding exactly how to change the density. It looks like this can be done by tweaking numbers, but my understanding is that this category is for changing the stage rather than changing the density that the building grows in. This isn't really what I'm looking for, as I don't want the building to grow in low density stages at all, only medium/high ones. Can this be done in Reader or PIM-X? I'm pretty new to editing existing lots, so I appreciate any advice you can give me!

HI All, I am enjoying using these London terraces https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=353 However, they do not grow very much in my city because they only serve mid 20s capacity and are easily developed over. Could someone increase the amount of sims perhaps to a more competitive 35 for each house? THANK YOU. Ryan.

Hi! So I have just recently gotten this mod which I was hoping would simply get me a higher initial starting fund and nothing more. Even then, 100,000,000 starting simoleans was way too much for me, but I managed to use the reader to successfully lower this value down to 3 million. The problem I have now is that the mod has also apparently drastically affected my tax money (in a city of 4,500 I am making 43,000 dollars in taxes every month). How do I lower this as well, preferably back to the default settings as I want to maintain the financial challenge?

How to adjust textures from S3D to in-game?

Hi, I'm making a few props on the Reader and using some Maxis base textures to texture them. Once I employ the props on the LE and plop the lots into the game, though, the textures no longer match Maxis ones and look lighter. This is not new to me and I've tried several combinations of saturation, hue, and brightness changes, but I still can't get them to look the same. I wonder if anyone knows exactly what adjustment is needed to make the textures on S3D visually match the in-game ones? Secondly, I wonder where I can find the source .bmp or .png files for the Maxis FSHs I'm using. I know I'd be supposed to split FSH files using Fishman or GoFSH, but both programs work and display poorly on my old laptop. Thanks for any help! -
When you do, maybe you can teach me. I'm more interested in the Tweaker, as I have no intentions of modifying in-game lots, just custom stuff. I'm not sure I have it in the right place, as all I can get it to upload are game lots, and all of the controls are "ghosting". Currently it resides in the folder that holds plug-ins.

What are exactly things can be updated and what are not?

Hello, In SimCity 4, there are 2 types of things: Things that can be updated without destroying the instance of the thing first. Like changing a lot icon or changing terrain texture. Things that can only be updated after destroying the instance of the thing first. Toroca's Opera House Fix and RJ's Private School Fix comes to mind. Also don't forget, MMP switching. What are exactly things that falls into point 1 and what are exactly things that falls into point 2? Thanks.- 4 Replies

All Buildings of Type Taking Same Name [Solved]

I have a few different modded buildings that keep running into an issue. Every time I rename one of that building, all of the buildings of the same name are renamed to that, and in some cases it even shows up with the rename in the menu. I don't know what is causing it or why this could be happening as it has never happened to me before at all. Is there something that can be done to change or fix this? -

On a Mac over here. Running High Sierra. Have been able to run and figure out a fair amount of custom content for a newb. I have created cityscapes wildly beyond what I ever thought was capable with my dumb computer and limited tech knowledge. But the time has come where I would like to do a little more to further enhance my region. Has anyone edited lots through OSX? I know partitions can be had and dual OS can exist, believe me, I spent several days trying to make that work and I just cant make it work. So far I've downloaded and unsuccessfully ran the SC4Tool, SC4PIM, and Ilivesreader. Are there other available other than these three I've listed? My only goal at the moment is to alter custom content that I've downloaded for my own use. Theres some things that I can never get to grow, or that are very rare, that I would like to be able to grow more of. I would also like to be able to plan what grows in my cities more. Like if I could identify specific building sets that look good together and then edit them to only grow on the houston building option. Or something like that. Thanks in response for your time and thoughts.

Re-texture of a car prop asset, need help

Hello everyone, So recently I have been able to figure out how to re-texture buildings, quite proud of that, but have decided I want to move on to something new. That new thing now being car models. My most recent project is the street sweeper model by ninjanoob slayer. I just want to remove the marking and I just want a prop version of it, however upon doing so(after modifying the d file and the psd file, since that have marking on it too), the model always loads up like this.(pic below). My questions are as the flowing: What is the culprit with this?. what is a a psd file needed for? if I am correct, I use one or the other, right?(fbx or obj, there just different file formats of the 3d object itself I believe) -
Hi, I am struggling to get a simple interface working. I basically need a panel and a dropdown. I am fighting for some time now and still was not able to get it working. Could someone give me a general instruction how to create and make panel show when shortcut is pressed? (Where to put what in general). I tried to follow Roundebout builder code but I must be missing something obvious as I am not able to get my panel show. It is so frustrating. :-( Cris.

How difficult (or, preferably easy) is it to modify an existing rail station to accept other forms of rail? i.e. adapt a El-Rail station for regular train rail... or modify a regular rail station to now be compatible with HSR?

Making rewards replacement not a replacement?

There's a very impressive BAT of Lomonossov University on SC4Devotion and I would like to download it, but it replaces the ingame University building. Could someone refer me to a guide on how to possibly edit it so that it exists as a separate building instead? It doesn't have to still be a rewards building but I'd like for it to retain its functionality; if it's the same as the ingame University campus which is much smaller, I might want to increase the stats appropriately.
