No Need to Bulldoze Stations Track Checker Removal Mod (beta)
tigerbuilder replied to CorinaMarie's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Nice job Cori. I wonder what else is in that LUA file, did you experiment with anything else in there? Thanks -
Your schoolwork is far more important. Don't worry about us. I hope you return when you can. You are a creative batter with excellent works. Good luck on your thesis. Cheers, tiger

[Development] The Day Major Fantozzi went Farming
tigerbuilder replied to Fantozzi's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
I understand your feeling burned out from all the work. I'm working a similar project, and I get it. Please keep going...this is going to be a epic farm upgrade and I can't wait to see and use it. This entire thread has me with great anticipation. Your work is fantastic. Take breaks when you need to. For example, get the NAM 36 and play around on a sandbox map to see what you've missed. It could give a fresh mind to return to your project. There are more people interested in this project than you might believe. I'm sure of that. Cheers, Tiger -
As far as I understand, yes you can do it. Here are some discussions I found quickly that explain it. PMing a mod here would surely clarify it. https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=7553.msg404572#msg404572 https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=15598.0 I hear you about the resolution issue, but the examples you used above didn't seem too drastic of scale factor. I guess you would have to try them and see how they turn out. Cheers, tiger

Nice stations! Cool idea and they look great. Cheers, Tiger -
It shouldn't matter whether its a prop. You are tweaking the .sc4model itself. Then you make new exemplars and lot. You refer to the original model as a dependency because the FSH files are needed so you are not violating "rules" of copying. This is a way to do the scaling for downloaders, they don't have to do it themselves. Just an idea for you...it's a shame you would leave a good BAT out if it could be fixed. Cheers, Tiger

First, sorry to hear of your loss, that is difficult. I love all your work, thanks for the efforts. Have you looked at "model tweaker"? Perhaps you could resize the BATs so you can use them? Cheers, Tiger

BAT - Troubleshooting & General Discussion
tigerbuilder replied to Jasoncw's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Not really Dreadnought. Lets clarify some things here. "Replacement" (the same IID as the maxis locos) "Additional" (a unique IID from the maxis locos) So the locos you got are probably set to be replacements. That doesn't mean you couldn't go in and alter their IID's to let them be additionals, you absolutely can do it. Additionals would be mixed in randomly with the trains you're running now. I run VDK's locos all mixed together, I never know which line i'll see. If you can use the reader, it's not too difficult. Also, there is a way to make them props. It's what VDK did with his GEVO locos, have a look at his uploads. There are also some steam loco props around in prop packs, there is some posts about it in the "can't find it?" thread recently. Cheers, tiger -
@SimPimple: Here are a couple: https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/15808-renfe-mikado/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/21179-1947-yellowbelly-steam-train/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/21081-db-class-23-steam-engine-train/ Some cars you probably want: https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/21311-trolcas-train-set-rh/ I have a trolca set V2...but i can't find a link Cheers, Tiger

Good list of some suburban/old house lots?
tigerbuilder replied to cifer00's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
c.p. , JMyers have some really good ones on the LEX, use the power search of author name. Simcoug did some relotting of them on the STEX. Another I can think of is "american four square V1, V2" here on the STEX by homefryes. Cheers, tiger -
Which train is that Mike? I've seen that behavior when I've made a modding error in the automata files...I could take a closer look at it. Cheers, tiger

Could you share with us what the "tweak" to the script was? This sounds like a rather important discovery you've made. Cheers, tiger

[Suggestion] Ban third party lotting from the STEX
tigerbuilder replied to Fantozzi's topic in Simtropolis Related
That's what I think this is...a bit of frustration from the other "sharing plugins folders" thread. I'm not going to over react to it. It's a never ending topic. If you really needed a dependency, it's probable already on your hard drive. As far as BATting in the future...there are solutions...I'm not worried about that either. I hope everyone will calm down and enjoy your game and the modding community. Relax. Cheers, Tiger- 6 Replies

Very cool. I found a kmz model and followed your tip about changing to .zip and extracting it. I just successfully imported a model into Blender (2.78)...it worked just fine, and it will export .3ds format, I use it to work on automata for SC4. Cheers, Tiger

New to NAM (much more complicated than i thought) Questions i have....?
tigerbuilder replied to Joe_Winko_From_YouTube's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
I'd like to recommend that you use a blank sandbox tile and just start playing around with all the parts. This really helps to understand what all the options to build are. "Exit without saving" for each session. Learning the NAM in a city is going to be pretty frustrating. Of course...these forums are here to help you with any questions you have. If you do a "SimCity 4 NAM" search on youtube, there is a good bit there that could help you out. Yes, the NAM is very complicated looking, but once you get the parts, it's really cool. Keep working with it. Cheers, Tiger -
simcity 4 Sharing Plugins Folders - Discussion
tigerbuilder replied to Haljackey's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
All the legal talk... I am pretty sure if it comes down to it Electronic Arts OWNS all the content ever created with their tools and file types. In no way are you allowed to own it or profit from their work. Cheers, Tiger -
simcity 4 Sharing Plugins Folders - Discussion
tigerbuilder replied to Haljackey's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
I think anything other than windows is a no go. There is no way someone like me is going to learn how to run Linux/Unix systems...I would NEVER do that. I know you windows haters think I'm crazy....But I know I'm not alone. Learning that seems as hard as doing the plugins the hard way. Running new OS's is not a "easy" path for "new/returning" users of SC4. This is the point of our discussion here. How do we make this EASY for users. This is how we can extend the life of our wonderful community. The tech talk blows away someone who is not going into the reader to fix "balance, etc" of their content. That's a lost player...what we need to fix. -

simcity 4 Sharing Plugins Folders - Discussion
tigerbuilder replied to Haljackey's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
TMTS...That is a great post and really is the heart of what we are talking about...He doesn't play anymore because of the pain...that's sad. I hear you brother. I think it might be important for us all to remember this EULA from maxis....without the BAT...no one can create models for the game. https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?page=6 I think many people believe they are some sort of individual "painter", or similar....anyone can procure some canvas and paint. That is individual creation. Without these Maxis tools (with their rules) we couldn't create these assets and get them into the game. Maxis(gone)/EA has the rights, not the individual creators. The way I read it, Its not even legal for us to make a new render method according to lawyer types. When someone creates... using maxis tools... some 3D coordinates, and some LODs and renders it..."It's MY personal work that I hold all rights to", even though I will upload it to a public site....I think this is a very extreme point of view. Perhaps all future uploads have a disclaimer policy about this? At least we could have a "stop it" point for the future Cheers, Tiger -
You should check out this thread here: There are quite a few different golf sets. I'd suggest doing a google search for "SimCity 4 custom golf". Cheers, Tiger
