    Alighieri Apartments, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Alighieri apartments is a fictional creation in the modern international style. These apartments are 14 floors high and designed to fit into tight inner-city 2x2 blocks. It will work as a stand-alone apartment building as well as in a wall to wall environment. It also provides a little bit of much needed competition to the HKABT/Bixel apartments which have few competitors in the 2x2 space. Like many inner-city apartment buildings, the ground floor is devoted to retail space. The tower area has four apartments per floor, each apartment has a corner balcony; the street-facing apartments are larger (3 bedrooms) and have floor-to-ceiling glass in the lounge area. The rear apartments are 2 bedrooms each. There is no penthouse suite, instead residents enjoy a roof-top communal pool. Basement parking rounds out inner-city convenience.   2. WanWan Apartments

    WanWan Apartments, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Inspired by the old Won Won Apartments on the Asian Tileset in SC3000, Wan Wan apartments have that real retro vibe of 1980's apartment buildings. These are tall apartment complexes come in at 12 floors to capture the views and are solidly constructed from brick and coloured concrete infill panels. Each building also has underground parking, there are two apartments on the ground floor, four apartments per floor from floors 1 through 9, and the four apartments on 11th and 12th floor apartments are 2 story penthouses with a lovely sun-terrace to lie down and soak up the rays before the 1990's rolled around and everyone was told not to sun-bake. This version is not a 100% accurate copy, but it is true to the language of the architectural style of the original building and this is simply one that I made for myself, but have decided to share with the community. The lot and models come in a few variations: all of them are growable R§§ iterations and there are both orthogonal - and - because it's a SC3000 building, a 45 degree version as well. The larger 6x6 and 8x8 lots are landscaped, and to help these grow, use the CTRL key while zoning.   3. Kensington Apartments

    Kensington Apartments, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- A fictional development, based on a new build in London's West End, Kensington apartments was created to compete with some of the mid-rise R§§§ aprtment complexes which can become quite repetitive in game. The single versions have stats similar to the in-game 'Packard Apartments' and should compete fairly well with this, and similarly-sized Maxis buildings. Like many of the newer London developments, this design is fairly straightforward: double storey entrance lobby (and ground floor flats each with a fenced off outdoor area) and then double storey sub-penthouse and penthouse levels. The building is twelve stories tall. As is often typical in inner-city developments, none of the apartments has particularly large balconies: traffic noise usually makes these less than inviting spaces. Floor to ceiling triple-glazed windows on all sides of the building more than adequately make up for this lack of terrace space. The communal planting includes a mix of deciduous trees and conifers; the larger lots have both a heated indoor pool and tennis court for the exclusive use of the residents. These apartments are presented in 6 lot options: a 2x1, a 2x2, a 2x3, a 4x4, a 5x5 and a 6x6 lot. They grow on all tilesets and all have varying stats depending on the lot size.   4. Contemporary Condominiums

    Version V.1.0.1


    This contemporary condominium set includes 14 lots, each including landscaping unique from one another. The only similarity is that each of the 14 lots will use one of the 4 HD house BATs. Either red, green, blue, or taupe. These houses are the first of their kind for SimCity 4, it's been a decade too long in my oppinion without modern suburban houses from your typical North American suburb in SC4. Please be sure to download all the dependencies for the best experience with this BAT/lot set. The list of what you need is in the installer, I can guarantee you won't miss it (even if you wanted to, it's the licence agreement). Just in case though, the dependency list is included below. If you still do encounter problems, such as not seeing the lots grow, you can always plop them yourself with the extra cheats DLL which can be found in a multitude of areas on this and other websites. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do, as I'm sure you can tell, I put a lot of hard work into these BATs and an equal amount into the lots.   5. Norfax, Tyson's Corner, Durham, and Lafayette.

    Today I'm showing the construction of two new developments: Norfax and Tyson's Corner, as well as the towns of Durham and Lafayette. Norfax is a 1970s condo development located west of Alexandria between I-85 and the Halifax River. It has 13,651 units in the entire complex, plus shops, restaurants, gyms, pools, and other community facilities. Here's some pictures of the construction. Building Tyson's Corner was both fun and difficult, since I built it on a diagonal grid. Durham is a town of 20,000 people. It was founded in 1693 by farmers, was established as a city in 1808, and has rapidly suburbanized since World War II. Historic Downtown Durham: When the railroad was brought into Durham, rather than going around the hill, the builders chose just to cut a trench. And finally, Lafayette. This far-flung suburb was built up around the old Boston Central Railway. Its streets are anything but grid-like, and its small-town feel appeals to those who want a country feel. Lafayette Station, built in 1907. That's it for this post. Next I'll be showing the suburbs of Seneca, Halifax, and Charlestown.

  7. Castle Condo's

    Before I delve into the massive change at Barlow let us take a look at the Castle Condo's and why the Strata Resort at Spring 'n Summer needs a year round Japanese tree specialist. I'm told this is the Carcassonne Castle shipped over in pieces in reverse order to facilitate the construction. For me, this is an impressive entrance. Then we have the side entrance which is bigger but less used. CTNX employs many residence from Castle Condo's as you can see one of two water towers on the CTNX property. Bet the lighthouse keeper never though he'd have so many invites for dinner! Now to the Strata Resort... Japanese cherry trees are meticulously maintained by a small crew who are committed to each tree that surrounds the Strata Resort. Fun "n Sun took a looked across the bay while Franklin pondered the six lane to be added and thought it may serve them better than the highway. Fun 'n Sun seems happier with the change and then Franklin made their upgrade... From the underground connection to the highway industry got another entrance/exit way to further speed the delivery process. Next, we'll get into Barlow's traffic difficulties.     L'Aquila Apartments, by Mattb325. A purely fictional BAT, L'Aquila apartments provide R$$ Sims with modern, medium density living that is equally at home in European or American styled cities. Bright, airy rooms, floor to ceiling glass doors which lead to large private balconies, exclusive penthouses and quiet communal roof gardens and pools all on large landscaped grounds with underground parking certainly put L'Aquila apartments at the more exclusive end of the R$$ range. At seven floors (minus the roof garden), this BAT will also easily bridge that awkward gap between the transition from low density areas and higher density downtown areas. This is a growable BAT offered as a 3x3, 4x4 and 6x6 (use the CTRL key while zoning to assist with growth) on medium and high density zones in all tilesets.   11. Welcome to another update of Holt District! In today's update we have moved south from Old Port to the town of Shorecoast. Unlike Old Port, Shorecoast is thriving and lively. Home to 70000 people, the housing market and condominium market is booming, so much so that development is not keeping up with the pace of demand. It is estimated that there are an excess of 5000 people looking to get into the property market in Shorecoast - in addition to those who have registered for new units. And with all this development, a small CBD (the smallest of the 3 in Holt District - but by no means tiny), and a lot of awesome scenery, there is a lot to see. So much so that I have split our introduction to Shorecoast into 2 updates. In this update, we focus on the southern suburbs and southern "condominium area" - as well as the immidiate area surrounding a new condo development for good measure. So with that, let's go have a look into Shorecoast... Shorecoast - Booming Development Along the Coast Part 1 of 2 4.1 | We begin today's update, here in the southern portion of Shorecoast. Houses in this area aren't cheap. Houses which require a lot of repairs and modernization go for mid-$400 000's to low $500 000's. Houses that have already been modernized and added onto range anywhere the mid $600 000's all the way up to $2 million - depending on the house and location. Why are house prices so high? Perhaps it is the excellent school and convenience of the library. Perhaps it is the easy commute to Downtown Sherkston, Downtown Manatee and Downtown Shorecoast, or maybe it is the fact the majority of this neighbouhood is on the water. Or it could be the fact there is an Ikea. Yes, it is definitely because there is an Ikea. 4.2 | As mentioned, a large portion of this area is surrounded by water. This little point has some very exclusive - and expensive - homes. The cheapest house to recently sell in this area sold for around $875 000. Even the wind turbine dampens the value of the homes in this area - they are cropping up through the entire region and feature the latest in noise dampening technology. 4.3 | Due to the nature of the land in Shorecoast - the entire city is a combination of keys and islands - bridges like this are common. And thanks to the hot property market, construction scenes like this are very common as well. Houses on the water in this development have been set at a starting price of $1 000 000. 4.4 | When the housing property began to take off, developers quickly purchased land bordering the ocean. They developed condominiums in a pace never seen before (until recently) in the region. This development is one of my personal favourites - it is in a non-grid layout and has trees surrounding it. It is popular amongst buyers because of the smaller buildings. 4.5 | Just above this development lies 2 identical condominium towers and a small complex of smaller buildings - the smaller complex being the first condos in the city. 4.6 | Before we move to another area - here is the area we are currently looking at night. I thought it looked really cool thanks to the placement of the buildings. 4.7 | Okay, now we can move on. Here we pick up where the last update left off - the newest condominium development to pop-up. Consisting of 2 buildings, the buildings sold out within a week of becoming available. The developer is already looking to construct another development... 4.8 | The new development is being constructed in an area already filled with a variety of condominiums, most of which have been completed within the past 4 years. While many buildings look alike, residents or town councilors have yet to complain, noting that while the town can try to get building diversity - it would be a long and expensive endeavor 4.9 | This is the same area, viewed from further out. Traffic may be a concern in the future as traffic levels continue to rise. You can also see another wind turbine amongst the high-rises. 4.10 | Of course, not all of the 'islands' or keys have been developed. Some, like these, are preserved as parkland and are frequently used as recreational area by residents and tourists, despite the wind turbines. That's all for today - I hope you enjoyed the update!
