  1. NYBT General Motors Building

This looks spectacular. What a great start to 2013 for you!
  2. Darn 42's Modeling Stuff

It's like my mind and TRON, all melded into one....!
  3. NYBT 915 West End Avenue

2013 is off to a very very very good start for you, if this is your first BAT of the year. Well done.
  4. uncler's Iron Factory

The scale is off - way off. Compared to the other building growing across the street, this one's floors are very short. The brick texture for the roof is also strange. I'd suggest more practice with gmax before uploading...
  5. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

This is a very, very good technique. The one thing I don't like about some Max modeled buildings on the STEX is that they use a frontal view of a window for the nightlight. With the angle that the buildings appear in game, that angle is totally wrong; you need to see floor and furniture, more so than the walls at the back of the room. So often I will like a BAT but not download it, because the nightlights look like big holograms pasted in place of the windows that make the whole thing look 2D and flat. The distortion of the image is what is needed to create the 3D illusion. I wish more BATters would do this.
  6. Vu Security Services

This is great - I love the little details like the satellite dish on the roof. And I hope the VU Security personnel can catch those unruly hoodlums who spraypainted Mrs. McGillicuddy's garden fence last month...
  7. IDS's (mostly) Minnesota BATs

I wholeheartedly agree - I love seeing someone tackle some of these 1960's "mistakes." Having done a couple in my midrise packs myself. it's almost revelling in gleeful poor taste to BAT something perfectly horrid and mundane, exactly because those sorts of buildings still haunt our skylines. I'm looking forward to seeing where this one goes.
  8. Za's Non-NYBT Thread

Um, if you're talking about the parking lots around and under the building, that's in the lot file - the base and overlay textures, which aren't part of the BAT proper. That sort of thing can easily be assessed and remedied in the lotting stage, with the Lot Editor. He's not there yet. He's still in the modeling stage...so I'd say he doesn't "need" to work on it "right now," since it's all about getting the BAT itself right, rather than the lot that it's sitting on.
  9. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

The red light is a nice touch - it gives a bit of variety and interest. The rest of the lighting is great, too. Glad to see your recent upload (Hillier) in the STEX featured spotlight, too. 1x2 offices are sorely needed, and this one is a gem. Your eye for modeling and texturing is enviable! Hope to see lots more from you in 2013...
  10. Midrise Office Pack Volume 2

    Version 1.0

The senior accountant has just called in sick on the day his quarterly report is due, your executive assistant can’t find where she saved the latest memo on the hard drive, and the guy from IT says it will take three hours to get your computer back up and running from the latest viral-video-turned-virus. But who cares? It’s a regular day at the office, and it beats working behind the notions counter at Gustav’s. Presenting another set in the series of midrise commercial office packs, guaranteed to add some office variety to your regions. Included in this download are the following establishments… Morris, Anglin & West Cooper Aviation Corp. Crater & Ritz, Inc. Roanoke Invesments Briggs Entertainment & Talent Agency Hudson Bank Romanov Imports Hauser Payroll Services Like the previous office packs, these buildings were made to compliment the existing Maxis medium wealth commercial offices. This “mega pack” contains eight different buildings over 77 lots. They range from stage 2 through stage 5, offering from 42 to 68 CO$$ jobs, and are lotted similar to their Maxis counterparts in order to blend in; as such, there are no dependencies for this pack. All have nightlights, custom queries, and stats similar to previous offerings; plus the readme file has some interesting trivia tidbits about the building names. Expect more of these in future packs, so stay tuned…in the meantime, download that Powerpoint presentation for the new company project, get the boss to sign these overdue payroll checks, and put in the order for the new furniture in the lobby…and just ignore the water cooler gossip about the new vice president going on a “business trip” to Fiji with his new secretary...enjoy!
  11. Midrise Office Pack Volume 3

    Version 1.0

There's rumors of a hostile takeover which sent the company stock plummeting, the new chairman of the board has initiated a hiring freeze, and the mailroom still insists on delivering your correspondence to the secretary down the hall. But who cares? If you like to file expense reports and sit through boring board meetings, then these are for you. Here's yet another set in the series of midrise office packs, to put some variety into your downtown commercial district. Included in this download are the following establishments... The Davenport Building Cook, Crookes & King, Ltd. Fox Financial Partners Debar & Home, Esq. Palladino Design Slade Global Corp. The buildings here were made to complement existing Maxis high wealth commercial offices like the Ben Tower, Vikyar Foods, and the McAdams Building; indeed, those aforementioned (and others) were inspirations for this set. This pack contains six different buildings over a total of 24 lots. Ranging from stage 4 to stage 5, they offer from 36 to 42 CO$$$ jobs and are lotted similar to their Maxis counterparts in order to blend in. As such, there are no dependencies for this pack, and all have custom nightlights, stats, and queries, like previous offerings. So, check that balance sheet for errors, email the head of the finance department those numbers you've been promising, and set up a lunch date with your supervisor to discuss that promotion he's been waving over your head for the past year...enjoy!
  12. Twinkle, twinkle, little BAT...

Aaron Graham - well, RL has a habit of intruding on BATting, sadly. Glad you enjoyed these. Nomadic - thanks - here's hoping they grow often in your cities! hotChocolate - thanks. I agree - we need more midrises on the various exchanges, to fight the monotony of Maxis. Hopefully I have done a small part in that fight, haha. IL. - thanks! Here's some more shapes and ideas for the next pack. Nothing has reached the texturing stage; having too much interest in the modelling stage right now. This one is going to be an old-fashioned office building...haven't gotten around to doing the front lobby/entrance yet... And this one is derived from an office building I've driven past numerous times. I had a little fun designing the underground parking entrance on the side...so many interesting little details to bring it to life... And another one loosely based on a building I've driven past a million times. This one will hopefully be the beginning of a bunch in the 2x3 and 3x2 size range, to compete with things like Modde, Inc. and Curtin Fabrics, and all of that ilk...in fact, the LODs size of this one is very close to one of those already...
  13. Shipwrecks

    These are really beautiful!
  14. IDS's (mostly) Minnesota BATs

Yeah, the glass seems to have swung too far in the other direction - perhaps a happy medium between the original and the current version? I like the trees, but I wonder if they might seem a bit too overgrown or bushy? There's such a tidiness to the building and the plaza and steps around it, the trees just look like they're overdue for some gardening attention. But that's just my personal preference; it looks like they are close to brushing up against the building in a few places, and I'd imagine that the landscaping crew would have trimmed back or chopped off those "offending" branches.
  15. Dusktrooper's "block all Maxis" mod will take care of the original in-game content. It has different folders, if you want to block specific types and/or wealth levels (for instance, if you wanted to prevent any Maxis CS$ from growing, etc.) I use it as part of the testing of my BATs, to see their growth. I also think there's a mod out there somewhere that blocks a specific building (Wren Insurance, I think).
  16. nybt-forum-threads Darknono35's NYBT projects

    OMG that's gorgeous!
  17. What a shame the water tower is hidden/covered up on 201 E. 19th St. But then I'm partial to seeing water towers on tall rooftops... I don't know why, but for 30 E. 81st St. I like the white version best. You've become a pro at BATting this kind of building! Happy holidays.
  18. Chez Mondo

This one is great - SC4 needs more little restaurant BATs like this. Five stars.
  19. Za's Non-NYBT Thread

Should be easy enough - just make sure to choose a lot texture from which to measure, and then you can go from there. The standard Maxis 16x16 meter square can fit five cars along a side.
  20. Can't find it?... Ask here!

And I've uploaded the newest pack of them just recently... More midrise office goodness...
  21. Twinkle, twinkle, little BAT...

libellibicus - thanks, glad you enjoy them! T Wrecks - many thanks for your kind words and enthusiasm. According to my little spreadsheet, over the mere 26 uploads I've put on the STEX, there are exactly 130 unique buildings. (There's a repeat or two in there between packs, such as the first laundromat I did in one of the commercial packs being reissued with the drycleaners and laundromats pack, just because it was "on theme"). So, despite being only 26 uploads, I guess that is quite a number of buildings - granted, many of them are not substantial (being one or two stories high at most), but I like to think they have enough detail to pack their own punch, one storey and all. Curiously enough, I think they're all commercial buildings - though I've BATted some industry and shown them in my thread here, I have never gotten one to a finished state to share. But then again, you seem to have done a thousand uploaders' work with your industry packs of late, which is an incredibly Herculean feat for which you should receive laurels beyond measure! My stuff couldn't even begin to compare to yours! Again, many many thanks for your enthusiasm for my uploads, as well as for your enthusiasm and devotion to the game itself and this community. I think there's more office goodness to explore, so I think there's more midrise packs to be seen in the future. "Anything worth doing is worth overdoing," or, in the words of the late great costume designer Theodora van Runkle, "more is more." There will probably be more office BATs that fit on the 2x2 footprint, but probably a bit taller than the prior ones (though still falling in the category of midrise, in my estimation). Plus there's a whole slew of Maxis 2x3 and 3x2 buildings to fight - variety is greatly needed to fend off some of those which become highly repetitive for lack of options in a vanilla plug-in folder. So, hopefully I can explore more in that vein (though there are some that need finishing along those lines from earlier in this thread, earlier this year.)
  22. DeVries Villas

These are adorable. So quaint. Love 'em.
  23. Waterloo Apartments

First rate - you are the King of Residential BATs...!
  24. Hillier Building

Perfect, as always - we need more midrises in this vein and size. And your texturing is always top notch...
