Welcome to the first NYBT International Month is a project of NYBT long in the making. We wanted to give a little bit more of attention to the International style building from NYC and particularly Manhattan. During the month of June we will be posting progress and revealing projects we've been all working on. As a month comes to a close, we will try our best to finish as many of the BATs and upload them to the StEx. As usual, this thread will be a quick overview of the progress, and for more details head over to the each creator's individual BAT Thread in the NYBT sub-forum. Participation in this project has been confirmed by: Seraf, Aarong Graham, PBGV103, Vlasky and Darknono35 (but he has disappeared in the meantime).

Anyway, hey! Seems as though that I've just recently been invited by NYBT to join in and do a little New York BATing (which I've been meaning to do for some personal reasons -- namely ME:TMW episode ) Besides that, I've dabbled a bit in New York BATing as you've seen before, and now, I'm just going to be occasionally dropping by here to show you any progresses I make on any NY related BATs I make! Wow, so many projects, I'm going to die soon So without further adieu, here's some stuff I've already got in the works: Note - BAT priority is listed explicitly within any NYBT related works I have. Other projects may take precedence over these depending on what I have going at a given time. Images are also updated when a new post is made. Status in order of priority VERY HIGH HIGH MEDIUM MODERATE LOW UNSURE ABANDONED Status upgrade/downgrade/unchanged symbol key Ⓞ Unchanged ▲ Upgraded ▼ Downgraded Two Times Square Status - ▲ - Low Priority Trump World Tower Status - ▼ - Medium Priority 650 Fifth Avenue (V2.0) Status - Ⓞ - Moderate Priority Solow Building (V2.0) Status - ▲ - High Priority 100 Blecker Street Status - Ⓞ - Very High Priority Hope you guys like it so far. Currently as you can see, Trump Tower will be high on my NYBT priority list, and will just be a simple, first release as a symbolic gesture. Btw, thanks NYBT members for this interesting opportunity (I honestly never thought I'd ever end up being good 'nuff for this lol )

I thought I'd start this thread in case anyone wanted to post new stuff being made in NYC. Here is an image I found that shows some new stuff going up in Midtown Manhattan. I really don't like any of them (except One57) Are these buildings going to ruin the NYC Skyline? Also in other news, they have broken ground on the Hudson Yards project to be built over the Hudson Railyard. Its going to look like this: At least this project isnt as bad or ugly as some of the residential stuff (imo) but it will still be a significant change to the NYC skyline. What do you think?- 104 Replies

I was thinking about sharing our data about in-game map of Manhattan with other team members in order to coordinate our team work. I mean, to just make sure that most of us makes buildings that will fit in another one's city Also we could think about making a map that would avoid problems such as large buildings placed on city borders (Farley Post Office, NYPL, Grand Central). Tell me what you think about this. For now, most of my city blocks between 42nd and 86th streets are 4 tiles long, widths are as follows: 1 Ave - 2 Ave - 13 tiles 2 Ave - 3 Ave - 12 tiles 3 Ave - Lex - 9 tiles Lex - Park - 8 tiles Park - Madison - 9 tiles Madison - 5th - 9 tiles 5th - 6th ave - 18 tiles 6th - 7th ave - 16 tiles 7th - 8th ave - 16 tiles I think that covers the majority of midtown...

Hello. I would like to restart some of the earlier BATs that I've worked on as well as release new ones. I will try to post progress on NYC inspired BATs here. Below are two of my current projects... The first BAT will be a 1x2 commercial building based on the Broadway Chambers building. I started this one a few years ago, and since I just released a similar 2x4 lot on the STEX, I figured I would finish this one off. Most of the remaining work is texturing. The second BAT is the Williamsburg Bank building. I have to texture the building, add some roof junk, and scale down the clock and the dome (It's stretched a bit too high I think).

nybt-forum-threads NYC Trivia and Info Thread
Xyloxadoria posted a topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
I just found some interesting info about NYC and thought Id start a NYC thread to post information or Trivia that might be useful to NYBT or its members. If you have any NYC info, feel free to post in this thread. My Trivia post is about 11 Madison Avenue. Currently, this is what is on the lot: If it looks short and stubby, its for a reason. It was supposed to be much taller (even taller than the empire state building) The great depression ended it at its lower height. However, all the structural elements are in place. if you wanted to finish the building you could. Here is what it would have looked like completed: There was also a loosing proposal for the same lot. This is what it looked like: If you are interested in the plans of the building as it stands currently, then there are floor plans of the building on this site. Vlasky already took advantage of the plans. -
I am wondering if there is a map out there of New York with the location of all the NYBT BATs on it? Would be a useful resource for anyone wanting to recreate New York, or at least Manhattan.

Here is a list of the buildings I intend to tackle. As always, feel free to comment and share your thoughts. A link to my old thread can be found

Hi NYBT Team, I would like to ask a question. I did check the list of the NYBT creations, but wasn't able to find what I was looking for. Is there any NY-style CO$$$ similar in size to the ingame Marshall Printing? It grows like a weed, if you build a NY-only city (and imo it's not particularly good). It has 245 jobs, and the next bigger CO$$$ available is Walton Plaza (832 jobs), ie a MUCH bigger one, and it is stage-7, compared to 6 for Marshall. This means that you are going to get an awful lot of Marshalls before getting any Walton. So I'm looking for a building (or buildings) similar in size to Marshall (ideally similarly modded and lotted too - but I would be willing to do this part of the job myself, if it's not already done)? And if we relax the "NY-tileset" spec, the list could include more generic buildings as well. While there are many great BAT creations on the STEX, in many (most) cases they are strangely modded (often as landmarks), and lotted in oddly sized lots, thus requiring special zoning. So you are going to get maybe 1 or 2 in your city (I guess you don't want to fill the city with the same building). But this can't be your bread and butter of commercial development. The bread and butter of commercial development is mostly ingame and grows in standard-sized lots, ie 3x3 and (mostly) 2x3 (yes!) - not to mention that two 2x3 lots can be subsequently aggregated to form a 4x3 hirise. In general 3-tiles deep lots are the most versatile, as they are capable of growing from tiny shops to large hirises. Given that due to the simulator settings, only a portion of the development can be stage-7 and 8, this means that one is going to get a very repetitive look of ingame medium-sized buildings (like Marshall) unless of course you disable the ingame stuff. For many players this is out of the question though, as the Maxis stuff is in genearal good quality, and well modded and lotted (eg covering all growth stages or having the same building growing also in larger but lower-stage lots), so one would have to carefully download and install a lot of custom content, and risking leaving "gaps". So an alternative good solution could be to make specially designed, modded and lotted buildings, to compete with the ingame stuff. Such an example is the building by gn_leugim, specially made to compete with the ingame Reflect Systems Incorporated, a building similar in size to Marshall, growing as weed in Euro cities. Also madhatter106 has released a set of small-medium CO$$ competing with the ingame stuff, and I have made (but not released yet) a set of 3 small CO$$$, competing with the ingame Chalmers Co. I think this is the way to go. If anyone is interested, here are my suggestions of the buildings that should be targeted: - Marshall Printing, of course. - Maybe a couple of CO$$$ ca 450-500 jobs. These would fill the gap between Marshall and Walton. Such an example is the 0x4000008B family (Bunch Engineering and Ferrara Inc), only these are unique to the Chicago tileset, with all other tilesets lacking similarly-sized buildings completely. - The notorious Wren Insurance. - And of course, as many 4x4s as possible, as there is only one ingame NY-CO$$$ (true) 4x4 (Lind Entertainment). If any of the above already exists, please let me know. Regards

Welcome to the thread where you can show screenshots of how you use NYBT content in your cities. For two years we have been recreating buildings from New York, and now, after many uploads to the STEX, we are eager to see how you use our buildings in your cities. Hopefully, a side from being visually pleasing, it will also be a learning experience about what type of buildings are in demand and how do you use them. But most of all this is supposed to be for good fun, so without further ado, LET THE FUN BEGIN !!!

Thought I would finally start my own BAT thread here to showcase my recent NY creations. After all these years of BATting I guess it's better late than never. Let me start off with a project that some of you may recognize from a while back: The Flatiron Building! I've been working on it on and off for the past year or so now. Hopefully it will get done soon, a lot of intricate details with this one and the curving windows in the front are going to be a challenge for sure. Next is a project that I might need some help with, One Bryant Park (aka the Bank of America Tower). This is a model a fellow NYBATer gave me a couple of months ago and it's proving to be too much for my laptop to handle. Just a draft Rendering took so long I gave up. I'm also working with the original BAT and not in BAT for Max which is a hindrance to the quality and progress of this model. If anyone with BAT for Max and a computer that can render high poly models would like to finish this up let me know and I'll send it over. I want to see this finished just as much as everyone else.

The Manhattanville project is dedicated to re-creating buildings from Manhattanville, a NYC neighborhood that is now being redeveloped. Until recently, the neighborhood was a good example of an old inner city industrial district. It hosted a large concentration of a type of building that is quite common in reality, but not so much in SC4: Wall to wall industrial buildings. With this project we would like to provide more custom content for the game and remember a piece of old new york that is slowly disappearing. SimHoTToDDy - Vlasky - Francis90b West 131st Street block Buildings in this block: Studebaker Building. 3259 Broadway. 2301 Joe DiMaggio Highway. 2307 Joe DiMaggio Highway. 2311 Joe DiMaggio Highway 605 W 131st Street. 609 W 131st Street. 635 W 131st Street. 641 W 131st Street. 653 W 131st Street. 640 W 132nd Street.

As I am now a member of the NYBT this will from now on be were I show any New York related BATs and creations. First one you might have seen in my BAT thread in the open discussions room: Day render Maxis Nite render Darknite render Some modding and proper lotting is what still needs to be done on this one before release. A new project I have started, are there anyone who can see what it is yet? This is very early in its stages and is little more than a volume study.

Hello everyone, and welcome to my BAT Forge. This is where I'll be posting pictures of my BATs, like any other BAT thread on Simtropolis. So let's get right down to business: I'm not an especially good BATer. I've had about a year of practice with the BAT (as of mid-2010), yet everyday I keep learning new junk I should know and making stupid mistakes and doing my fair share of stupid things. But that's where you come in! You keep giving me your ideas, I'll improve. Give me your feedback. It's more important than you may think. If I don't know how people like buildings, this is nearly a waste of my time. I also appreciate help from the site's other BATers, as they know more than I do. As for what you can expect from me, the answer is not much, and not often. My pace is about one building a month (like this): and being a high school student, I have to squeeze in BATing between cross country, concert band, brass quintet, academics and personal life. Don't check back every day. Put "checking back" on your Saturday schedule or something. But here's what's under construction at the moment (one of the buildings, literally! Haha. That was a bad pun.) 134 Eldridge Street 140 Eldridge Street Walk-Up Under Construction (Fictional) More pictures are coming soon. So, have at it. I want to hear what you think of those three. I'm pretty casual about my work, but I'm going to ask two things: Don't ask when I'm going to upload a building or update the thread or make waffles or do anything. The official answer is whenever the heck I feel like it and have the time to do so. Don't ask for requests... There's always the BAT Request Thread, or at the very least, PM me. But don't get your hopes up, I rarely entertain the idea of requests. ...and of course, the general rules of Simtropolis apply. That solves that. Y'all have a good day.
