  1. What kind of flora and terrain mod do you think would be best for a Japanese themed city? I have been using the Berner Oberland as a terrain mod and have been testing the Central European Tree Controller, Cascadian Tree Controller and the Yucatan Tropical tree mod. Central European Flora Cascadian Flora Yucatan Tropical Flora
  2. Some may not notice, but in almost every city I make, I usually plop a 1x2 7/11. If it's in my plug-ins, I often plop a BlockBuster Video too. For some reason, I find it comical to see this defunct chain in my city. Do you have something trivial that usually goes in your cities, all the time?
  3. Hello everyone, I have been suffering from a Skylines renaissance lately, which consumes my every waking moment (and a fair few of my sleeping moments!) In particular, I have been delving into ways to grow (not plop) thematic yet varied neighbourhoods via Building Theme Manager. Toward that end, I would like to clone all the assets in every given theme I've plunked together, such that every asset has a clone from level 1--5 (or 1-3 as appropriate). Now, to do so manually would involve opening up Theme Manager in-game and clicking (off the top of my head) about five times per asset, per theme. That's a lot of clicking. Back in my younger years, I did some modding for Baldur's Gate, and I vaguely recall Regular Expressions being a powerful tool. What I would like to do is use a batch text replacer to find every instance of <Building name=" XXX " /> and append two or four more lines in the BuildingThemes.xml file, such that asset "XXX" has been cloned to all other levels. An example of how this looks when the editing has been done in-game is as follows: <Building name="H1 4x3 Bigfactory05" /> // The original asset <Building name="{{Industry Heavy}}.Bigfactory05 L2 4x3" level="2" base-name="H1 4x3 Bigfactory05" /> // The cloned level 2 version <Building name="{{Industry Heavy}}.Bigfactory05 L3 4x3" level="3" base-name="H1 4x3 Bigfactory05" /> // The cloned level 3 version If a Regular Expression can be built to do such a thing, it'd be easy to simply re-run it through a text-replacer every time a theme is created or edited. Does anyone have any familiarity with them? I opened up a RegExp cheat sheet and downloaded TextCrawler 3, and my brain short-circuited.
  4. Winter pack

Hello everybody! I hope you can help me to find the winter pack, I think that's its name. Some years ago I created a city completly under the snow, but changing pc I don't find the files that allow me to rebuild this town. So I ask you where I can to find this pack. Thanks to everybody. Ugo
  5. I have been trying to make a new theme, to go with a specific map I have been working on. I have been making 4k textures, and everything has been going well enough, until it came time to add in Cliff and Sand normals. it keeps giving me the same error, " Something went wrong processing textures" I have tried changing the resolution of the .png file, the bit depth, loading skylines in -noWorkshop mode, even tried saving as .jpeg always the same (un-informative) error. the Normals were generated using https://cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/ from my cliff and sand textures.
  6. In episode #1, we kickstart the city by building up a small island and than looking to spread out our city in the next episode. We so far have began to build our skyline, and commercial districts and the iconic japan neon light street. Project Japan is a humble attempt to build a somewhat realistic looking Japanese city situated somewhere between Okayama and Kobe on the northern shore of the Harima-nada sea. Japanese city series are almost non-existent, perhaps because of the serious ack of Japanese themed assets on the workshop. Finding inspiration can be tricky. Therefore, revamps are to be expected throughout the series, as i get better at building Japanese cityscapes and/or new assets become available. Find out more by watching my video below.
  7. I use the Cleyra Map and Theme and everything looks fine when I first load it, but when I save and come back to continue, the colors are off and the graphics don't look as smooth, especially along the coasts. Any ideas what's happening? Thanks!
  8. We're entertaining the idea of providing a second theme option for Simtropolis. It is a fair amount of work not only to create another theme but to also manage it through updates - but if there's enough interest, it's something we may undertake. For this poll, I just want to get a sense if people generally would like a Dark or Light theme for Simtropolis. And, yes, should we roll out a dark theme, you will have the option to pick which one you'd like to use.
  9. I'm experimenting with custom DLC today and I can get everything working fine except for map themes. I downloaded different themes and placed them in the "MapThemes" subfolder. These themes are listed in the CS menu and I can select them when loading a map, but for some reason the themes don't load in sandbox play. I tried using the Environment Changer mod, but it made no difference. Here's the weird part: I can load the themes in the theme editor and they show up fine. I've also tried making changes and saving them under a new name. But no matter what I do, the themes won't load in sandbox play. What am I doing wrong?
  10. Hello good people! Something's happening to my game and I can't figure out why. When I play on an european map I can't seem to be able to load international growable (all the service buildings and uniques are still loaded); same thing happens on non euro maps (I can't load euro buildings; uniques and service still loaded) so I can't really use themes. Does anyone know why? I've subscribed to his mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=456408505&searchtext=unlocker and everything seems to be on/activated...
  11. Laramie, Wyoming Theme

    Version 1.0

    568 Downloads

Laramie is a city and the county seat of Albany County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 30,816 at the 2010 census. Located on the Laramie River in southeastern Wyoming, the city is west of Cheyenne, at the junction of Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 287. Laramie's total precipitation averages about 11 inches (279 mm) a year, and the average number of rainy days per year is about 86. The city experiences a day that is 90 °F (32 °C) or warmer 2.2 times a year. The average temperature in December is 21.1 °F (−6.1 °C), and in July it is 64.0 °F (17.8 °C). Annual snowfall averages 48 inches (122 cm). Because of the high elevation, winters are long, and summers are short and relatively cool. The growing season is short, as the average window for freezing temperatures is September 14 through June 6, while for accumulating (≥0.1 inches or 0.25 centimetres) it is October 5 through May 12. Laramie has a semi-arid climate (Köppen climate classification BSk) with long, cold, dry winters and short, warm, somewhat wetter summers. - Wikipedia. I put a lot of effort into creating this theme and making it as realistic and close to my personal experiences in the area as possible. Enjoy. NOTE: The cliff texture is not realistic, I know. This map also uses custom textures, so please pardon for lag. Report any errors / bugs / lag to me personally.

  14. Version 1.0

    165 Downloads

This is my attempt at a desert theme. It doesn't include any special buildings or anything like that, although that may come in the future. Look at the screenshots to determine whether I failed or not. It's basically the tropical theme with different visuals.
  15. Isla Mariá Magdalena

    Version 1.0

    1,720 Downloads

The Islas Marías ("Mary Islands") are an archipelago of four islands that belong to Mexico. They are located in the Pacific Ocean, some 100 km (62 mi) off the coast of the state of Nayarit. They are part of the municipality of San Blas, Nayarit. As of 2011, the islands are still being used as a penal colony, containing the Islas Marias Federal Prison. The islands have an aggregate area of 244.970 km². 1,116 people lived on Isla María Madre as of the census of 2005. The other islands are uninhabited. The next two largest islands are Isla María Magdalena (70.440 km²) and, further south, Isla María Cleofas (19.818 km²). They were named after three women called Mary in the Biblical New Testament: respectively, Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and Mary, the wife of Cleopas, and are referred to as the Tres Marias. A smaller island, Isla San Juanito (not visible/accessible in this map), with an area of 9.105 km² lies off the north coast of Isla María Madre. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islas_Marías This map includes a piece of Isla Mariá Madre, Isla Mariá Cleofas in its entirety, and the main focus of the map, Isla Mariá Magdalena. Mariá Cleofas is not usable, and only a piece of Mariá Madre is. Mariá Madre unrealistically contains oil and a railway connection, created to ease the gameplay, as the map is hard enough already. You're more than welcome to abandon the highway and play the game realistically, starting off with a harbor rather than a road connection. Both air and ship lines are available. The map prioritizes Mariá Magdalena significantly, and in stock gameplay, you'll face a difficult choice regarding where to expand. The map is medium difficulty, but harder than my Maio, Cape Verde map. No animals here, European theme. Have fun.
  16. Hi guys! I've been always fascinated by Japan and it's culture, art, style... so I was wondering: how do you make a japanese city? Especially suburbs. Do you have asset suggestions and stuff? Have you made one and you're willing to share some screenies/advices? Tanks!
  17. Hiya, How do the workshop themes work exactly? You subscribe to one and..what then?
  18. I created the first "Theme Mod" for the Building Themes Mod. It adds a British row houses building theme. The assets were created by rik4000: Required Building Collection Theme Mod The theme in action: I hope that more asset creators will start making growable buildings, so we can create more of these themes.
  19. Snow Theme

    Version 1.0

    19,127 Downloads

The Snow Theme is designed to completely change the way your game looks. The terrain textures are changed, the transit textures are changed, as well as many more things. The set contains textures which modify: Terrain textures: Ground, Beach, and Rock. Base textures used on in-game lots. Street textures. Sidewalk textures. Instructions for Installation Installation is very simple. Download the file to your SimCity 4 Plugins Folder. (C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\SimCity 4\Plugins\) Right-Click on the zipped archive, and choose "Extract All", follow the wizard. When the wizard is complete, the installation is complete. Note: If you have WinZip, or equivalent, use that program instead of the default XP unzipping utility. A good free archive extracting utility is 7-Zip. Compatibility Due to the fact that this mod uses the same texture ID's as many terrain mods, this theme is not compatible with any other terrain mod, rock mod, transit textures mod, (except for the Real Highway Mod), beach mod, or tree mod. This theme covers all of those areas of the game. If you experience any compatibility issues please contact swat-medic.
