City State 2 Released Now ! Some months ago I tried City State a SimCity like builder game with some nice edges where some different political options where presented tropico style. Looks just like SimCity 2K 3K graphics not much less. With a similair fashion of highs and lows to deal with it had a new fresh look at city building. City State 2 presently released got 3D and looks way advanced on his previous release. City State 2 system specs are little like City Skylines with a I7 16 Gig memory and certainly a fast graphics card wich is as CSKL out of my reach for now. Modding may be a little furthur no new about perhaps, look very good. ! Hope everyone have a look at the game at steam ! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1352850/Citystate_II/ and on Youtube KingMeeMaw videos " Hope you like it ! Kschmidt

First entry. This is not the accumulated result of a weekend though. I started working on this project back in spring, around late April or early May, and I have been working on and of since then. Karlskrona is a town in Blekinge County, near the southeastern-most corner of Sweden and it is situated across several islands surrounded by a larger archipelago. The town was founded in 1680 as a ice free naval port and is to this day still the main base for the Swedish Navy. Karlskrona is my hometown and I was born as well as mostly raised here. Sadly, I don't live there anymore and thats a main reason why I wanted to recreate the town, and it's surroundings, in Cities: Skylines. Basically homesickenss. I should probably say a word or two about the map which you can find at this steam workshop link. I created the map based on a heightmap which I edited with GIMP to change the brightness and get the absolute heights to be somewhat realistic. However, the coastlines were nowhere near finished after importing into the game so I had to use an overlay mod and paint these by hand. End result is pretty good, however I discoverred som resolution issues when importing the edited the heightmap, causing some anoying, terracing and jaggedness of the slopes. Using the smoot tool in-game provides an acceptable solution to this issue. I then proceeded to add in most real life main roads, as I knew I was gonna build a somewhat realistic re-creation of Karlskrona. I also added some of the UNESCO world heritage fortifications found scattered around the archipelago to add some unique touches to the map and uploaded it onto the workshop. Pretty soon I noticed the map became pretty popular as the renowned Aussie YouTube profile, Flabaliki picked up the map and started a series of it titled "Skärgård" sort of the Swedish word for archipelago. I've much enjoyed watching his build on the map and find it really interesting how the unique geography of the map sort of forces city planners, no matter the era, to roughly come up with the same layouts and solutions. About the same time as I uploaded the map I started building the town,in the actual game, as opposed to the map editor. During the first part I focussed heavily on making the main networks realistic with lines and markings. I also tested as many options as possible to make them work in the sometimes insane world of C:S traffic simulation. The first neighborhood I built was Långö. This was followed by work on Trossö, the downtown island, and Pantarholmen. I then linked these areas together with Pottholmen, which houses the main train station and transit hub for the town. In the following, screenshots, including captions, of the current state of the build will be showcased. Långö from the north Långö and Lilla Pantarholmen (Small Pantarholmen) from the south. Pantarholmen visible to the right. Lilla Pantarholmen, Långö, and Pantarholmen again. Note the weird junction close to the railway and bike underpass. It actually works! Pantarholmen and Tullen to the left, the old toll place, with the unexpectidly named Tullparken. Trossö and Pottholmen (modern development/construction site) with Långö and Pantarholmen in the background. Hoglands park, the main city park, visible to the left. Similar view, showing more of the old bus hub at Kungsplan (Kings Place). Hoglands Park. The main train station, Karlskrona Central, with the adjacent bus hub. Trossö and Pottholmen. The locomotive halls vanilla asset matches the IRL one riddiculously well. Much satisfaction. The main marina and the highway entrance, Österleden/Infartsleden to Trossö. Situated on Trossö, the main square, Stortorget (The Large Square) with Fredrikskyrkan (Fredrik's Church) to the right, Trefaldighetskyrkan (The Trinity Church), also known as Tyska kyrkan (The German Church) apparently after the german POWs who built it, to the bottom, and Rådhuset (The Court House) to the right. At the center of the square stands a statue of the towns founder, King Karl XI of Sweden. A fun little anecdote is that the actual statue asset is one of the Russian Tsar Peter the Great, ironically the man who would put an end to the Swedish great power era about 30 years after the founding of Karlskrona. A zoomed out overview of Trossö and its surroundings. A lot of messy WIP stuff still visible. Trossö from Bryggareberget (Brewers Mountain). The area is still WIP but it features my first use of procedural object in the build to achieve the iconic triangular shapes on the water tower. The Aspö Ferry berth. It pains me greatly that Roll-on/roll-off ferries are not yet in the game. The Aspö ferry goes.. to Aspö. On Aspö you may find one of the aforementioned fortifications, such as Drottningskärs Kastell. Much of the archipelago surrounding Karlskrona consists of small rocks and islands like these ones. Navigating such treacherous waters may be tricky as the Soviet submarine U-137 found out in October 1981. The actual spot where the submarine run aground is marked on the map. If you've downloaded the map, see if you can find it. Finally, a very zoomed out view of the entire map. I hope to be able to fill most of it at some point... in this or in the next life. Thats all for this first entry, hope you enjoyed. Stay tuned for updates!

– Archemediesx’s Sim the Nation Series – – Wyoming Region 10/10 – – State of Wyoming – The State of Wyoming map is presented at a 1:5 ratio to fit within the limits of SC4’s abilities. It contains a scaled elevation profile offset from 280m to 940m. The map encompasses 114.688 km x 90.112km across the state’s extents. Included in the zip is a preview image, a regional description pdf, SC4M and Configuration bmp files. They requires Wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer to import it into SC4. All Sim the Nation series maps are produced using 1/3 Arc Second DEM and 16bit images to produce X,Y,Z Scale Accurate Geographic based maps. -
Drawing State Lines in Cities and Regions.
Joe_Winko_From_YouTube posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
SimCity 4 is a really fun game (funniest in the whole series in my opinion) BUT there's just one thing that kinda gets to me. I don't really like how the whole map is a grid and all the cities have to be shaped as squares. I have a whole regions that's supposed to be a country, but I want to draw state-lines/borders around it from the city view (blame my OCD for caring so much about that) I'm just curious, does anyone have a method of doing this? What i'm planning on doing is using the sign/label tool and adding a bunch of dashes: '-' around to make it look like a state line, but does anyone think there's a better way of doing this? -
How do i create in tropico 5 an totalitarian police state? How to i build an strong economy and what do i Need for an totalitarian state? An huge military? a strong police? martial law? Is it possible to build an totalitarian fascist state in tropico 5? Or is this not possible to build an fascist totalitarian police state?

Are there any games where you can be an totalitarian dictator? And Controlling everything and everyone? Yes i know Tropico is such an game, but you are only an dictator of a small Island, not really a powerful ruler. Are there any games besides the tropico series where you can be an cruel dictator? Any games where you can rule over more than just a tiny Island as a dictator?

Are there any fictional buildings that are of a non-city governmental nature? I am especially looking for buildings such as national/state/provincial/etc. parliament/congress/diet buildings, capitol buildings, and others. However, I could only find some that were replicas of real life buildings. I'd like to give my city a different feel that doesn't just copy real life cities. Are there any fictional government buildings available?

We don’t know how he did it, but Dr. Koothrappali erected his satellite dish in front of Sheldon’s Spot, a half circle park, perfectly aligned to minimize glare while having an overview of the harbor with the breeze at his back. Meanwhile Cim State College has welcomed DB Cooper Forestry College with a grant of ₡200,000 from an anonymous donor. The Wolowitz Applied Science Center(WASC) rounds out the new additions to the Cim State College and Dr. Koothrappali says the position of the WASC is in the area he has already mapped. We do welcome these new additions to the campus and our area making our Science Department on par with Caltech according to Dr. Eric Gablehauser.

The culmination of learning enjoys a pleasant bluff overlooking the work-a-day world. Cim State College gives our students, and future captains of industry, a very robust educational experience in the Populous tradition of Home Schooling. The newly added Book Bank will insure continuing education for those who just can’t get enough. Negotiations may bring the renowned Koothrappali Satellite Dish to our College and, who knows, maybe another Planet Bollywood discovery!

Article 3: Final ideas Builders VS Mayors Years and years ago, some people complained about “the cheaters”. They were talking not only about people that used money cheat (a.k.a simleon tree), but to people that would swap other things too, like using SuperDemand mods (its more than just one). In the other side, some other people complained about “the noobs”. These guys had kind of ugly cities, with some repetitive building. But they used to say “hey, at least I made it on the honest way”. The noobs were known as mayors. And the cheaters as builders. Everyone started playing SC4, or maybe any other City sim, as a mayor. Manage money flow, taxes, control crime and fire, build hospitals, and etc… This is the meaning of playing as a mayor. However, there is always a time where you get tired of these things – or better, tired of the engine that runs these things – and want to build the City of your dreams. Then, you will not want the engine holding you back. You just want to build and make things exactly – or almost exactly – like you want. So, you take the money out of equation, create or destroy the demand (or “plop” the buildings on your own), take out any problems related to crime, end any possibility of any fire, etc.. At this moment, you become the builder. It is just about what you want to do – and achieve. Have as much population as possible, or have as many satisfy rate as possible, is not everybody´s goal on this. Repeting: it is a question about what you want to do. Some people prefer to stay on the middle although. They try to build the city they want without doing engine “swaps”. That’s a way too. So, if you call anyone a “$%&^!” for having an ugly city, or if you call anyone “a cheater” for using the money tree, stop and ask yourself what the other people want. Maybe the idea was never having a pretty city, or the idea was never having the engine holding you back. Finally, it would be a good idea if anyone developing a city builders take note about the builders. It would be a great idea to have a mode that disables the engine – the money stuff, the sims processing – and create a builder mode, where you could create exactly what you want. Managing the traffic, when clicking on a street and setting it to “zero”, “small”, “medium”, “heavy”, no money, and anything like that. Even if we are full of mods trying as much as they can to make a builder mode possible, SC4 is going to always process traffic information, sims information, and always simulate everything – wrongly, with the mods. This will likely consume memory. With less memory, with no simulation, maybe this mode could generate larger maps – or, at least, lit will be a lighter mode. Expanding “Mayor Mode”: State and Nation management, different systems I wonder if someday there will be an expansion of the mayor thing. I mean: What about having a position as a president? Manage a whole state or nation? Just imagine how would be a “President Mode”. Problems to solve, currency, diplomacy, trades, managing transportation as a whole, solving trouble done by big disasters like flood, earthquakes, etc… Mayor Mode has a good potential for expanding in any City (Nation?) Builder Sim. And: Why capitalism only? Why not some variations of it or radical changes? Not for the sake of the efficiency but it would be fun and puzzling. “Mayor Mode” is something people don’t take long to get tired and a different mode, with different strategies and approaches would be nice. Future In the end, somehow, all the 3 articles I´ve made talks about the future. A big problem today on City Builder Sims is the proportion about detail versus size. Finding the right balance is hard. For most games that includes any kinds of maps, from racing games, airplane simulators, some action games, RPG, etc… There are always limitations at computing, and that influences on the map. If the map has too many details, it is too small. If it has huge, it is detail lacking. For example, do you know what the biggest map ever made on videogame history in any platform is? There are some RPG, Racing Games, but in the end, it is “Flight Simulator” rules… It has the whole world as a map, every kilometer/mile. However, 90% of the map is just texture taken from the satellites, sky images like on Google Earth. And it is like that since the 2000´s. In the other side, the new “Sim City” tried to process the commute of every citizen and barely end with 1 square kilometer… With the potential expansion of computing and hardware, with the natural evolution of technology, limitations problems like that might be solved, even if we could never reach the infinite. There always would be the limitations but they will get smaller than they are today. I really believe that the golden age of City Builders Sims (late and middle 2000´s) will come back in between 2020 to 2030. As I´ve shown on the others texts, there are some problems with map size and general appearance. With better computing, these problems are solved slowly. Just imagine: Bigger maps, like 10x10 or 20x20 km… Better, good looking and realistic graphics… Expansion of Mayor Mode… Even if these days have not been the best, someday the golden era will come back full with new concepts, new ideas, new ways and new possibilities. Comments Reply @Dedgren (Art 2): These graphics expansions and evolutions doesn’t happen from day to night, they happen slowly. Slowly we get some new possibilities… Slowly “we get there”. @Raynev1: Thanks. @kschmidt: Thanks. There are comments saying that my cities look busy, but I´ve always thought that the traffic in SC4 in general is not big enough. Sometimes, we see real ghost towns with big buildings… Even if I used to not be good at generating traffic it was better than nothing. Always tried to get balance on my scenery too…

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/10/26/suspect-deadly-oklahoma-crash-due-court/74613054/ Happened a few days ago I think but we have a real tragedy here. Celebration turned into a nightmare. The driver is charged with four counts of murder. The prosecution seems to believe she was under the influence while the defense says it's due to mental problems. We may know more as time goes on. If it was because she was under the influence, she may have just thrown her life away. Which is also sad.

Introduction - A federal kingdom in western-Europe
Appeltree posted a City Journal entry in The Federal Kingdom of Belsay
Welcome to the Federal Kingdom of Belsay; an existing state southern of Ireland, south-western of the United kingdom and eastern of France. A state sharing the Bay of Biscay with France and Spain and a state bordering one of the most important sea routes on Earth. The Federal Kingdom of Belsay or, as the French speaking minority calls it, Le Royame Fédérale de Belsaux is one of Europes biggest islands. The federation exists out of two federal states, namely the Federal State of Wistelton (Etat Fédéral de Wistelton) in the north with an English speaking population, and the Federal State of Courteville (Etat Fédéral de Courteville) in the south witn a French speaking popluation. HISTORY A brief history: until the First World War the Island of Belsay was occupied by the United Kingdom and a small part (about 10% in the north) was occupied by Ireland. After the First World War France was capable of occupying the eastern part where already most of the population was orientated towards France. Belsay has been a kingdom since 1500 AC, but has been occupied since 1800 AC. The monarch at that time lived in hostile in Sweden and later Canada. At the beginning of the Second World War the Island of Belsay faces an uprising against the occupation by France, Ireland and the United Kingdom. After a smooth revolution the Island receives independance, with the former British and Irish parts forming the Kingdom of Belsay and the southern part forming the State of Courdeville. The monarch returns at this times and becomes monarch of the English part. In 1950 both parts of the Kingdom reunite in a federation with the former and historical monarch as the head of state. STATISTICS In the entire Kingdom there are approximately 50.000.000 civilians. To give you some references, United Kingdom has 63.000.000, France has 65.000.000, Germany has 82.000.000, Italy has 60.000.000 and Spain has 47.000.000. With this population Belsay is currently the sixth European state by population (including Russia). Courteville, the southern state bordering France, has about 15.000.000 civilians. Wistelton, the northern part bordering Ireland and the United Kingdom, has about 35.000.000 civilians. When we look at the size, Courteville occupies about 20% of the island, where Wistelton occupies about 80%. The capital Haydan is almost entirely English and is situated for 85% in Wistelton. Especially the south-eastern part of the capital is part of Courteville and therefor this part has a French orientation. In The Greater Metropolitan Area of Haydan, approximately 12.000.000 people live. This means that about 24% of the population lives in the capital of this state. POLITICS Belsay is a centralized state on almost all political issues, with Queen Dolora of Himmerton as the current head of state. The prime-minister has always been from the English population, because this part of the population is way bigger. The current prime-minister is Silvester Cornwell. CLIMATE Belsay has a climate that is comparable with the climates of London and Paris, although the general temperature in Belsay is warmer, due to its more southern location. Belsay has a sea-climate. -

Welcome to my new city journal of Trifort. Trifort is a rapidly developing fictional U.S. state. The region includes New Concorde, one of the world's largest cities and truly the gem of Trifort. It may be surpassed in grandeur (if not size) in the next decade or two, however, as a new city is being constructed entirely on man-made islands in the Vivec Ocean off the coast of Trifort. More on New Concorde and Trifort Ocean City later... Below you can see the southern part of Trifort. Trifort is actually a fairly large-sized state, stretching to the north for many miles.

State Library The state library is a large, modern library with 600000 books. You will find most of the stats in game, in the menu. It is a 9x10 lot, with a 40 EQ boost. Works best in a highly populated city. Dependencies: BSC MEGA Props - DAE Vol01 RealHighwayMod Swi-21bank (Swiss Financial Centre) The lot will function without the Swiss Financial Centre, but not without the other two dependencies. However, the lot will be complete with the bank.
